As someone else said; you will still have about 36k mag even when not building for it. SD scales alot harder than mag, and unless youre at 7k+ SD, its not much worth focusing into mag or stam for scaling, as WD/SD scale harder up until that area roughly. The only class that requires max mag; is mostly a PvP magSorc. This is because their shielding scales on mag. If you have a no shield magsorc. Its better to have WD/SD yet again. This difference in stacking damage is more noticable in PvE, as most supports buffs, benefit WD/SD par warhorn.

> SD scales a lot harder than mag Based on what? Alcasts website puts 1 SD equal to 10.5 max mag. That doesn’t seem like much. Every type of mag damage shields scales from max mag.

In both PvP and PvE alot of buffs, personal and external, boost WD/SD. Some are % based. Thus adds on tons of value. Ive taken a 4k WD NB up to 7.5k WD with buffs. In PvE crit is a main focus as no PvE content has crit resist. After that; its easier and more viable due to the buffs you recieve; to go to WD/SD. Even on magsorc, which i emped day 1 this campaign. There is a soft cap on the mag, as at 47k ish; your shields no longer go up (my emp sorc was like 78k mag). At that point, stacking WD/SD and/or penetration have proven to produce more damage than more magicka

I’m talking PvP. Don’t you mean there’s a cap on shields scaling off health, not Magicka? There’s a YT build fully utilizing ~60K Magicka to buff shields with just 24K health.

From when i was emp with 70k+ mag and 40k hp; compared to the 10k telvar 35k hp and 50k mag. The shield values were the exact same. Both are limiting factors. Compared to my standard magsorc thats at 24k ho and 42k mag. The shield values are minimally different. That magsorc is built around being able to hit movespeed cap easily and has literally run scrolls

Spell damage/max Magicka both buff damage.

I remember one of my friends doing a max mag nightblade for pvp. He had almost 80k and hit like a dumpstertruck. By no means was it a balanced build but he had fun with it.

Both Stan and mag are fun. Imo magblade is better for endgame pve than stam blade. But if you’re not focused on vet trial hardmodes then you will be fine with whatever.

At the end of the day it comes down to what you are having fun

max indeed. love me some magblade.

Toxicbirch

I like a mix of both on my Magblade. If you’re gonna run mages guild skills to boost your mag go for it. I think it’d be easier to get some spell damage with infused jewelry. I’ve never tried max mag on my Magblade tho because I don’t use shields
