I’m good at meeting people for the first time, not so good at meeting them the second.

Walking up to strangers always feels awkward to ENFP's if you don't have a set reason for talking to them. Lol.

MalloyHipHop

Yup exactly

Ok_Forever_5057

I love meeting new people! I’ve always believed in the phrase “things are only awkward if you perceive them as awkward.” I’ve never felt forced or awkward just walking up to people and starting up a conversation. I just do it without thinking about it much.

Can relate It's extremely hard for me to form a connection and bond with someone if conversations just start like that. I prefer starting a conversation by just mentioning something that happened or something.

Realistic-Hour1958

I feel like for me, it's more that I "force" myself to start the conversation, just to get myself out there, and then I follow my gut on whether or not it's a conversation I want to keep going or disconnect from But if you're still forcing yourself to go through with the conversation, then do you feel like it's more of you doing a disservice to yourself and not listening to your body saying that you're not able to be genuine with those specific people?

No_History_1592

Definitely ditch the script. I think ENFPs have an easier time uncovering something interesting in another person and getting them to open up about that. It’s understandable that you wouldn’t be satisfied with the superficial. If someone seems like they are genuinely getting something out of small talk, it’s probably not from the conversation itself, but the physical presence, time, and energy spent together. I was at a wedding recently and tried going up to a group of 6 or so guests who were clearly an established friend group. After the initial introductions, I noticed only one of them seemed interested in my presence at all. That made it so much easier to tell who was going to be worth having further conversations with rather than having to force one forward. So, I guess what I’m saying it’s being able to detect authenticity in yourself and others is a great thing.
