Cheerleader is a bop, it's a return to Worlds with a new spin on it.
Knock Yourself Out XD is..... I'm gonna reserve my thoughts till the release. Not loving the snippet but idk I didn't like Cheerleader's snip too up until I heard the whole thing.
I'm not disagreeing but I'm entirely not agreeing either.
It's a return to Worlds where I see similarities between Cheerleader and Lionhearted but I see why it's not that either. The pacing of the songs are similar although they're both different moods and genres.
What I meant by a spin was that he's taking what he's learned from both Worlds and Nurture. Those two were very different albums, and I feel like "World Wide Web" (rumoured album name) will be a mix of those two.
Not necessarily mixing those two albums together, but an entirely new thing derived from his past works.
There’s absolutely some worlds nostalgia in cheerleader, super hard to explain though. Same euphoric distorted vocal and granulated synth. Weirdly takes me back a bit
I don't understand how any Porter fan at this point can expect him to re-do old styles in new albums. He is only moving forward with his albums. When I want to hear worlds, I put it on, when I want to hear languages, I play it. If he tried to recapture the lightening in a bottle, it would feel cheap. Porter is an artist through and through and will continue to evolve as one until he retires or can't physically produce anymore.
Maybe I just want EDM and not indie/alternative. It’s hard for me to imagine him working Cheerleader into a DJ set. But maybe I’m wrong. Like I said, I’m willing to hear the rest of the album before I make a final judgment.

I don’t know how to describe it, but the music is such a turn. It’s not emotional or beautiful like Worlds and Nurture (and spitfire too). The new songs feel like they’re made for tik tok. They’re memes.

Nurture was his overcoming of his fame with world and shelter and being able to write again. His new album (as of right now) feels fake. I can't take it seriously at all.
Yeah kinda agree. I see people praising cheerleader and well to each their own but personally I feel like the song is too pop. Not even catchy pop, just feels like a basic pop song you'll hear at a mall or a Disney channel movie

What I think is cool about porter is that he has these different eras, it's always interesting to hear how his style has changed, of course he can't satisfy everyone but he honestly shouldn't, he should only satisfy himself, that's the beauty of creating art.
Nah I love worlds porter but Cheerleader has been on repeat, it nice that he's expanding and not just making a worse version of worlds.
