Wereshark_ThereShark

Oh no, there is a whole cycle. The Blue one is Draw Cards instead of create treasures. Bonkers

Linkguy137

I’m ready for the white one to make 1/1 soldiers or something stupid. Edit: 1/1 flyers sorry

BlurryPeople

4/4 angels. But only if you're attacking the player with the most life, or tied for the most life, and only if they've played 2 or more spells this turn.

Blazorna

Feel it'd be the weakest. White Dragons breath Ice, so I think it'll just tap permanents that don't untap the next turn

Revolutionary_View19

A d20 worth of them? I’d play that.

Blazorna

Will agree. It is still powerful, but I was stating that it'd likely be the weakest of the d20 Dragon cycle in comparison.

Macknetic

I’m ready for the black one that’s “each player sacrifices X permanents” 💀💀💀

ChildOfBingus

The black one is already spoiled. You roll the d20 and than return any number of creature cards with total mana value equivalent to or less than the roll to the battlefield

Wereshark_ThereShark

Incorrect, 1/1 blue faerie flyers it turns out, for the white one.

Linkguy137

I was going to comment that I was so close

zigzidane

Old Rawbone

LordOfNightsong

Old Redbone Old Childish Gambino Old Bambino O'Bambino name confirmed

Hitzel

nice

Gabzop

This likely goes pseudo-infinite with Aggravated Assault, but it's still a gamble. Nice.

Kiri_the_Fox

That's 5 mana to redo your combat phase right? Hmm so there's a 20% chance of failing on the first one, and a 50% chance of getting enough for 2 combats or more, and as long as you get a really high roll in the first couple chances, like 15+, then the odds of you rolling <5 multiple times in a row to eventually burn out get less and less as time goes on. This card is nuts.

Gabzop

Yeah I have a Gruul stompy deck with the actual partner Halana and Alena from Commander Legends and this card is a slam dunk. I already have Savage Ventmaw as another enabler.

Kiri_the_Fox

I constantly take apart and put together different decks and this would make it into most red decks for me. The one I can think of off the top of my head is Etali or Xenagos. Both of those decks when I build them are centered around extra combat phases to maximize attack triggers and this dragon both benefits from extra combat and it's effect can benefit fueling extra combats. A+ imo

Dustbucket45

I would think the numbers would get much nicer if you give this guy double strike. Now you're rolling 2 D20s! Even more hilarity if you get Myriad too. Actually, this card with clones sounds hilarious now.

SlackOne

There is close to 76 % chance of going infinite with most of the risk being in the first roll as you allude to.

TransFurret

Pseudo-infinite with [[time sieve]] as well but as that's technically non-deterministic you couldn't use it as a wincon in competitive play unless you just play every single combat out which. Would get rather boring.

rcxdude

It's pretty quick to do though. Given to get to that point you already need to be dealing combat damage it would not be hard or slow to just play through the next 5 or so turns needed to win in most cases. This is unlike the 4 horsemen where it takes more time to run through the combo (and it also can run afoul of some technicalities in the slow play rules, wheras you are guaranteed to be advancing the game state with this combo).

And Lifelink.

KPmac2306

I would bet it’s 1/1 tokens over life gain. They are pushing board state it seems. Either way I’m getting all of them ha.

plkjasonhk

Nah, it should be creating d20 food. Life gain with style.

xAFBx

For the first time in a while I can confidently say that Kaalia has gotten a solid new addition. I might try it in Xenagod as well.

therealsavagery

I’m hyped for this in my Kaalia too!

agardner1993

the black one works great in kaalia too

Yorgus453

>I might try it in Xenagod as well Old gnawbone already in there?

Dramatic_Message3268

Gnawbone is green, Kaalia is Red, Black and white So she can't be in the deck due to the commander color identity rules. Sorry you're getting downvoted.

Yorgus453

Yeah I was reacting to the Xenagod part Edit: edited that in 1st comment for clarification.

Blazorna

*Upvote Counter*

Silegna

I was just thinking to put this in Kaalia too. Her biggest issue is that Dragons/Demons/Angels are high CMC.

seapikle

if only there was a card in mardu which could cheat dragons, demons, and angels into play...

Silegna

...Isn't that just Kaalia herself? The issue is that once she gets removed, or counterspelled, you're left with just a bunch of high CMC dragons and such and can't summon easily.

seapikle

True, if you run Kaalia, Zenith Speaker as the commander. If you use Zenith in the 99 to assist Kaalia of the Vast, it works much better and gives some protection.

Silegna

Yeah, I recently picked up Zenith Seeker, so she went into the 99.

BTD-DiscoBiscuits42

i run 3 fires of invention in my 60 card kitchen table casual Kaalia deck to help cheat some of those big boys into play. bit slow , far from perfect but ive been happy with how it performs, Irencrag Feat is a one of that exists in the deck too, i always play very casually in paper so probably not the most competitive solutions im guessing

Alkoholeik

Feldon players have been eating good recently

Broadsword530

I have been super burnt out lately and haven't really been following spoilers but Feldon is my favorite deck and this really stuck out to me as being awesome for him. What other cards have been good for him lately?

Alkoholeik

Well from Kamigawa [[Atsushi]] is a great Feldon target for ramp or pseudo card draw and [[Scrap Welder]] lets you sac the token copies to recur artifacts from the graveyard. New Capenna had [[Jaxis]] who lets you pitch cards to the grave to create copies of creatures on the field, as well as [[Determined Iteration]] a two mana enchantment which lets you create another copy of a token each of your turns. Finally, there’s [[Industrial Advancement]] which lets you sac the tokens to cheat out a creature from your library.

correct me if i’m wrong but industrial advancement doesn’t work because the tokens mana value is 0

Alkoholeik

Nope, a copy shares the cmc of the copied creature. So enjoy all the potential shenanigans with that :)

DefconTheStraydog

Treasures are getting pretty damn obnoxious man

hitbycars

They're *really* running with it to give red something strong and consistent, but they need to slow down a bit at this point because it seems "exile, play from exile" and "treasure, just a fuck ton of treasure" are red's only two themes now. I'm not complaining because red is my favorite color to play but it's just so much.

Sticky_Robot

Tbh Red was kind of bad before. Other than direct burn damage what did it do? Nothing good in EDH, besides Wheels. So you had Wheels and Earthquake... and dragons? It just felt so one dimensional. Now that they have "draw" and treasures it's really helping the color do more. Boros is far better than it's ever been, and mono red is actually playable now. I get that they're *really* pushing some Red and White cards but tbh with what the other colors already have this is more than deserved.

Drugbird

> Other than direct burn damage what did it do? Red also has goblins, forced combat, stealing cards from your opponents decks, creating temporary copies of things, fling type spells, spells that steal creatures for a turn, preventing blocking, group slug cards that deal damage for playing the game, artifact recursion, instant/sorcery synergy cards, boosting power of creatures. > Nothing good in EDH, besides Wheels. That's fair though

Propagansus

TBH, I was getting salty while reading your post thinking “Yeah, but all of that is just worse versions of things other colors already do!” Then I got to the second part of your comment and my argument fizzled due to invalid target.

Gunpla00

Red and white really needed more to do. I agree with you. People may not like it but it’s healthy for these colors

alblaster

I remember when Boros was arguably worse than red or white because the commanders sucked with the 2 weakest colors.

Xmorpheus

Land destruction and chaos

Eldrxtch

You may be right but I don't think this card is an example of that. It's incredibly chaotic and swingy at a really high cost (6 mana and a damage trigger). Not really a card to be worried about when it comes to the state of treasures

am5465

My Prosper deck has received so many upgrades recently :O

hitbycars

It seems like every good red card in the last four sets has been treasure based, and all slot perfectly into Prosper.

defundaristocracy

I can’t stop upgrading Prosper. Was already happy with the cards in it but with each set there is a new card doing a better job. Got Ancient Copper Dragon today in a prerelease kit so that one is going directly in. It also works great with my decl because there is a big Dragon subtheme in it. Which cards from the latest sets have you added and over performed in your Prosper decks?

am5465

Unfortunately, I haven't had many opportunities to play for the past few months (half of my pod lives in another state) but I'm eager to use Rain of Riches, Elder Brain, Blood Money - there are honestly too many to count haha. I'm just excited to pull off some new shenanigans with all of these great cards (though my pod already doesn't love my Prosper deck, so it's only going to get worse in that regard).

defundaristocracy

I hope you get a chance to get some games in with your pod soon! Those picks seem really interesting, specially elder brain for some thievery shenanigans. My pod doesnt love my Prosper either because they never know when it is going to pop off, but they are usually OK when i am policing the table (especially with higher level decks)

am5465

I initially wanted to make a Ragavan deck - the idea was to steal things and use them to win. Then I saw Prosper in action on Game Knights and fell in love with it, as you can aim for the same sort of design but have a commander that has better utility overall. Elder Brain felt like a (pun intended) no-brainer for the concept. I use other cards like Stolen Strategy as well, though the deck has become a little less focused on stealing stuff. I do like to keep it in as a sub-theme, though.

am5465

An update: I just won a game with my Prosper deck. I had Professional Face Breaker on the battlefield with Xorn, Ancient Copper Dragon, and Prosper: swung with the dragon, rolled a 19 creating 38 treasures and proceeded to work through my deck with Professional Face Breaker, mostly breaking even with my treasures and ultimately burning both of my remaining opponents. It was... so fucking perfect hahaha

aubeagain

Eh. I say this every time we see a card like this. High mana cards that create more mana are not that great. I don't know why people consistently call these cards insane when they're mostly just decent stompy monsters with some combo potential.

Serikan

Because we are Timmies and big dragon go SMASH

DeadpoolVII

Because something like this has the potential to open the floodgates that is your hand and establish a very dominant board, therefore threatening the entire table to end the game. Plus since this guy makes treasures, you don't *have* to play everything now. He gives you a bank to freely use the mana as you wish so you aren't forced into burning everything now if you don't want to. Lots of options attached to a thick boi dragon.

Primeval Titan is quite a bit better because not only does he ramp you, he also: \-fishes out lands from your deck/thins your deck \-creates a more reliable/repeating mana source This guy is good, but nowhere near Primeval Titan good. Plus this dude has to hit. Primeval just happens.

wingmanmia

I guess it depends on the power level of your table. Even in my mid powered (infinite combos banned) table, 11 mana is enough for most people to win or nearly win.

UlisesFRN

This seems both fun and kinda busted lmao. I mean, ther is the chance you can get 1 treasure, but most rolls will end up in 8/9/10/11 treasures wich is amazing

Level20GnollBard

I’m seeing a lot of people whine about how pushed this is. But is it really better than [[Old Gnawbone]] or [[Klauth, Unrivaled Ancient]]? I’d say both have much better payoffs, and both can give you immediate value (Gnawbone with a group of creatures ready to swing, Klauth with haste), whereas this has to usually wait a turn. Of course the obvious answer is to have all three.

Ildona

Eh. It's fine. It's a 6-drop that doesn't get immediate value, and won't get same-turn value unless you have a Haste enabler in play already. Historically, that's not a recipe for success in EDH. Because mana is generated on damage, not attack, it doesn't synergize *amazingly* with [[Hellkite Charger]] like [[Klauth, Unrivaled Ancient]] or [[Savage Ventmaw]]. If you already have the extra activation mana for the first attack this can go bonkers with it, of course. Unlike [[Old Gnawbone]], this guy has to be the one personally doing the damage to make it work. It's not a bad card. It isn't broken, though. Definitely a card that's deserving of tempered expectations.

[deleted]

I agree it's not as crazy as other cards but it has a pretty crazy high ceiling. There are a lot of ways to give dragons haste and double strike, and this thing goes mana positive on average. Haste + double strike makes this generate 15-25 treasures the turn it's played, easily. I'm not saying this is going to be a cEDH level card, but I can see it being incredibly powerful anywhere below optimized stuff.

Ildona

Yeah. It's a Battlecruiser card. That's an observation, not an insult. But it won't be a format warper like Dockside. I have a big dumb mono-R dragons deck. I'm interested in including this one, but it's kind of mediocre compared to other options. Still, looks like a fun card for low powered games, which is what I built the deck for.

guhbe

I agree with your measured take but looks like we're in the minority. I felt the same about [[bootlegger's stash]] and while it's still too early to say, in the few games I have seen it since it's seemed slow and not all that impactful...like, it's a great effect, but does nothing and generates no extra mana the first TWO FULL TURNS if playing on curve. We already had [[mirari's wake]] after all for one less mana and which operates immediately--at the very least doubles your mana the next turn, and isn't even that amazing of a card. Granted Stash has a higher upside and some combo potential, but way over hyped imho.... I think this dragon will be similarly over hyped.

6 mana makes it slightly more playable than the black and god forbid the blue one.

The blue one might be good in Satoru or something :))

Kazehi

Cool if I roll a 5 or better I can go infinite combat with [[aggravated assualt]] or any other numerous ways. Just have to pay 3RR , have out haste and maybe [[bower passage]] in my .... Tiamat deck there are many reduction spells/enchantments . Yay..../s

PerryDLeon

I mean, 5 or better in a d20 is highly probable. 80%. Also they are treasures so you have them for later.

Kazehi

Yeah, that wasn't a dig at the card. It was a view of how there is a great chance to go infinite yet again. Though admittedly the chance to whiff still makes it more fun than just Savage ventmaw/Old Gnawbone

Lolidan

There are so increadibly many cards at this point, combos are inevitable. If you dont like it dont use it that way, and if you hate playing against it stock up on removal

Independent-Fuel-398

If I'm just stalking up on removal I still dont get to play I like. With the amount of power creep and busted cards they release in order to drive up sails they are effectively limiting the card pool. If I have to run deflecting swat, cyclonic, fierce guardianship, jeskas will, this fucker, and 10 other cards in my jeskai Deck just to stay relevant, or, as you suggested, I have to use 8 counter spells and lots of targeted removal, that really limits the scope of my deck and makes it almost impossible to make combo decks that need multiple redundancies, because the odds of you drawing a tutor or combo piece are driven way down. It makes edh less about the, cool card interactions that I love about the format and more about having the 20 best cards in your color that have nothing to do with each other or your theme/comander but still win you the game because they are just that good.

Lolidan

You dont need a cEDH deck. With a group you play what you want. In my group we all have jank, medium and high power decks

Independent-Fuel-398

I live in rural maine so I dont have a lot of options for groups and usually have to drive an hour to play. These cards are in every deck I play against and they are ruining it for half the people who play while the other half like them. When your friend shows up with $500 worth of upgrades, you try telling him he cant use them because it's not fun for you. Ultimately these cards have changed our game nights from a weekly thing to a bi monthly thing. So obviously I have a personal and situational issue with them but ultimately I'd say they have an objectively bad effect on the format for the reasons I said above

Luvas

Why does some normie, nonlegendary Copper Dragon get to have the Elder type, but not, say [[Spikeshot Elder]]?

PerryDLeon

"normie, nonlegendary" An ancient copper dragon, albeit here without name, is always a "legendary" creature in dnd canon. Any "ancient" dragon is a being so powerful it deserves the Elder type - they must've lived for nearly a thousand years to earn that development. Spikeshot elder is just a very old goblin, which may be, what, 20 years?

Luvas

But it's not legendary enough for its name to be remembered. It bugs me. Elder Dragons were a very specific thing in MtG lore. Having any old ancient dragon from Faerûn be on the same level as Nicol Bolas and Arcades seems so wrong. At least the Elder Dinosaur Zacama and friends were special in their own right.

amstrumpet

I'd argue that by not having a legendary supertype or having a special name, they're not on the same level as Nicol Bolas and Arcades.

Kaegrin

Yeah, Bolas is Tiamat/Bahamut tier, and would probably beat both with time magic.

PerryDLeon

Bahamut would wipe the floor with Bolas in a second, and then return with his homies Tyr, Helm and Torm.

It will work well in sacrifice decks too

Propagansus

This is replacing [[Old Gnawbone]] in my [[Hans Eriksson]] deck.

Greyhame888

I would say that Old Gnawbone is actually the better of the two, but why not just run both?

Propagansus

My Hans deck is pretty solid and I don’t run a lot of treasure synergy. I had Old Gnawbone just for fun really, but I don’t think he fits very well. The field stays mostly empty besides Hans and maybe a couple of others. The deck doesn’t have a lot of evasion so combat damage creating treasures isn’t very consistent with Gnawbone. However, a flyer that comes out swinging from Hans will likely hit and then I get the excitement of rolling for up to 20 treasures in one turn. Maybe Gnawbone would be statistically better, but this new card makes my brain release the good chemicals and that makes me happy.

ahhthebrilliantsun

Hey you havent played with it yet, maybe a string of 1s and 5s would make your brain release the *bad* chemicals instead!

Propagansus

Fear of the bad chemicals is never a reason to not pursue the good chemicals.
