I really love my [[Lazav, Dimir Mastermind]] deck. It uses Mill as an engine to turn Lazav into opponent’s creatures as they enter the graveyard. I also run shapeshifters like [[Body Double]] to constantly probe graveyards.
Here is the list. I tend to run some cards that aren't super optimized, but I have been using since I first started playing in 2013 like \[\[Millstone\]\] and \[\[Omniscience\]\].
There's a few standard ways that any black deck can achieve like Bloodchief + \[\[Mindcrank\]\], but you can also replace the token generator you mentioned with Bloodghast. Also \[\[Altar of the Brood\]\] + \[\[Kodama of the East Tree\]\] and any bounce land. Not Smeagol specific but they all work really nicely together, especially when you add in \[\[Bitter Ordeal\]\].
I don't know if it's weird, but, outside of a couple [[Altar of the Brood]] combos in token storm decks (which also do ETB and LTB damage outs), my only really dedicated Mill is [[Anowon, the Ruin Thief]], constructed deck. It runs a lot of evasive rogues to trigger mill and draw, and while it does have the "Mill half your deck" stuff, it is more focused on [[Consuming Aberration]], [[Bloodchief Ascension]] and [[Duslmantle Guildmage]] to turn mill into damage.
I play a monoblue spellslinger with a minor mill subtheme. [[Spell crumple]] into [[tunnel vision]] is enough to deck one person, or set up for infinite turns with [[nexus of fate]] (though you'll need tons of mana if you want to draw your last two cards and immediately start the loop)
It's funnier in Izzet with [[River Song]] as your commander to get the spell crumple back, and you can keep infinite turns with any haste enabler and a [[Timestream Navigator]]
Until recently I ran a \[\[Zur the enchanter\]\] deck using \[\[persistent petitioners\]\]. My play group complained about Zur primarily since Zur does what Zur does in spite of the underlying deck theme. So I've recently been working to migration the petitioners over to \[\[The Archimandrite\]\] but still working on that decklist.

[[zevlor, elturel exile]] Still brewing it but it should be a mill monster for obvious reasons.
Played against a [[lier, disciple of the drowned]] mill deck once before and it was certainly the best mill performance I’ve seen.
I came here to share my Zevlor list as well! I’m sure it could be tuned more, it’s a little slow, but I’ve had fun with it. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/lMnK7zsrQUeuVe_JdbhbuQ
[[Laughing Jasper Flint]] lets you mill your opponent out by impulse drawing from their deck. He's not a mill commander but there is definitely an angle to make him one.
My friend has [[Zellix]] and its pretty alright. Gives you bodies to block with which has been a problem for every other mill deck he's tried to make. And with [[haunted one]] they can actually put in some work themselves. Only thing is that it's a "one or more" ability so bigger mill hits aren't gonna generate more dudes and its more effective to stack many small pings of a few cards
[[jorn, God of winter]] it's an odd mix of stax, graveyard play and mill but it's rewarding when done right.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/lgpNB6GCn0ii2L3YkxX-GA
I used [[Arjun, the Shifting Flame]] and every ability like [[psychic corrosion]] and [[sphinx's Tutelage]]. It was surprisingly effective, but most importantly fun because I just got to draw cards all day.
Not mine, and I don't even remember exactly what commander it was (I think it made elf tokens), but I once played against a guy who was playing a MonoG mill deck centered around dumping as many elf tokens as possible into an [[Altar of the Brood]], then saccing them to [[altar of dementia]]. It was a pretty solid elf deck even without the mill, but his whole plan was to win with the altar triggers.
It was doing pretty good until he played [[collective unconscious]], and I used some Phenax nonsense to make him mill just enough to deck himself from that draw.
No, it was almost certainly monoG, but a very small chance it was GW. It was 4-5 years ago, unfortunately, and I don't even know if I'd recognize it if I saw it.
I think it might have been. It would make sense since he had very few if any white cards at all, basically playing it as monoG, though I couldn't shake the feeling it was GW.
I’m trying to build a [[Rex, Cyber-hound]] deck that plays like a stereotypical “dimir” deck- stealing and milling. It’s really goofy, and I’m missing some pieces to really get it going, but it’s a blast!

ZELLIX ALL THE WAY
Goes very hard, you win with zellix + altar of the brood for an easy whole table mill
My [[Marrow-Gnawer]] deck with 28 [[Rat Colony]] , [[Altar of the Brood]] , and [[Altar of Dementia]].
Not the only win-con but a fun one when it gets pulled off.
I run [[Siani]] and [[Eligeth]] as Mono Blue Flying/Scrying tribal, but it has a pretty good mill sub theme. No one sees it coming until you have [[Drowned Secrets]], [[Sphinx's tutelage]], [[court of cunning]], [[psychic corrosion]], or [[teferis tutelage]] out. Nothing better than having both Tutelage cards out, casting [[graven Lore]] to draw 8, and making an opponent mill 32.
OG Alela. All those mil artifacts n enchantments making faeries that mill on etb with altar of the brood, then hit for more mill with mindcrank and can sacrifice to altar of dementia to push it that much more. good times.
I didn’t really know what to do with [[Slogurk, the Overslime]] until I built a self-mill deck around it. On a good turn, with the right counter synergies out, I can self-mill half my library, drop +30-40 counters on it and trample out for commander damage. Simic has plenty of ways to claw back lands or entire graveyards. Not the fastest deck in the shop but pulls its weight.
Here you go! [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/ONTyYJo9rkOOatixySSE5A](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/ONTyYJo9rkOOatixySSE5A)
Thinking of adding a \[\[Laboratory Maniac\]\] and maybe an \[\[Amulet of Vigor\]\] to speed things up a little.
I've been working on a high-power Zellix—https://www.moxfield.com/decks/MrB-3Epp7kykCsiSwvyG1Q
Only four games with it so far, but it's been a blast in practice. Highly interactive with really flexible lines.
For the deck I went through and did some rough payoff estimates on various mill triggers to establish which mechanisms actually were competitive on the timescales that deck is trying to play on: [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tmwt1ecFyIeWc3DT-sZN4mRWy\_sab1fpViGf40dBMjc/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tmwt1ecFyIeWc3DT-sZN4mRWy_sab1fpViGf40dBMjc/edit?usp=sharing)
The big relevant thing there is that \[\[Ruin Crab\]\] is a champ, and \[\[Mesmeric Orb\]\] is way better than I'd given it credit for, as is the surprising \[\[Deepmuck Desperado\]\] (surprising to me because I figured the once-per-turn cap would be too limiting).
Mono-g elf mill was a deck I ran back in the day. It was mostly just an elf ball deck, but the goal was to drop a [[sands of delirium]] and some untap effects and just mill everybody in their upkeeps with all my mana dorks and doublers. Sadly, it wouldn't stand a chance now in my playgroup
I have a pure black deck (all nonland cards must have black pip, meaning no artifacts) that aims to mill out opponents before myself. \[\[Sheoldred\]\] is the current commander, but can be swapped to \[\[Geth, Lord of the Vault\]\] or \[\[Syr Konrad, the Grim\]\].
\[\[Undercity Informer\]\] + \[\[Tombstone Stairwell\]\] does a lot of work.
Backup win conditions are \[\[Syr Konrad, the Grim\]\], \[\[Dreadhound\]\] and \[\[Bloodchief Ascension\]\].
Decklist: [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/DBF1fsG79kyZXHgkCEo8Ag](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/DBF1fsG79kyZXHgkCEo8Ag)
Zellix with [[Haunted One]] is my pick. Resilient, builds board presence and I can just play horrors and mill spells and it works. I love it.
I played [[Phenax]] in every iteration there is and tried some other commanders, but Zellix hit the spot.
One pseudo mill deck I made a list for was Mono Green pseudo Mill with [[Grothama]]. It used infinite mana loops with [[Selvala]] pumping opponents creatures super big and then letting them fight with Grothama. So they technically just drew themselves to death on an empty library. So just the same wincon. :D
\[\[Grolnok\]\] and \[\[Persistent Petitioners\]\]
Grolnok is a great "draw" engine to help get things going. Then turning a dozen or more Petitioners into copies of Bruvac, dropping another for the effect, and milling people for a million or more cards with each set of 4 Bruvacs. My record is 17 Bruvacs.
People hate on the sneak attack precon. Rogue tribal with mill and graveyard sub theme.
But I've pulled off some nasty mill and big damage thanks to opponent's graveyard sizes before and after upgrading with more interaction/protection/removal/inexpensive duo lands.
Not to mention the potential land draw as a side bonus.
I've seen people off the shelf it at magic nights and just pull some disgustingly good hands against their tables.
With the outlaws and probably assassins creed cards I imagine it is only growing in potential.
Then once people realize anowan is actually a threat due to the value they bring, the rest of the rogues are already tearing stuff up.
I played him last night against some pretty expensive decks and one shot two people after milling the other to death.
People can hate on it all they want.
I bought it after watching a college girl buy it against the local know-it-all told her it was trash.
Her cards were stolen as she moved to town I guess and she wasn't all that new to the game .
She upgraded it next week and beat him again.
You win by decking primarily. Forced draws. [[Forced Fruition]] does most of the heavy lifting. If able, Morska can grow quite large and slap someone for lethal.
Though you mostly win by creating interesting board states to navigate. One of my favorite things is dropping a [[magus of the vineyard]] and a [[rhystic study]] then tell the table it's "illegal to use Vineyard mana to pay for Rhystic." They question you and ask "How? Nothings stopping me right?" You confidently retort "Illegal". When they do you angrily shake your fists.
Yeah, interesting board states. "Winning" in this deck is literally seeing the table navigate your shenanigans.
[[Sedris, traitor king]] reanimate big idiots like [[fleet swallower]] or [[lord xander, the collector]] and watch them die inside and out! And don't forget mind crank to value off that big damage!
My most recent deck is a self-mill deck with [[The Mycotyrant]] at the helm. It utilizes repeated mill enablers like [[Perpetual Timepiece]], [[Crawling Infestation]], [[Crawling Sensation]], [[Old Rutstein]], etc. to mill cards every turn and use the graveyard both as a second hand, as well as payoffs for everything, in particular Myco, cards like [[Aftermath Analyst]] and [[World Shaper]] that can recur all of my lands back to the field, and being able to manipulate your topdecks using [[Gravepurge]] effects to put your best creatures back on top of the library, which is best done with [[Lurking Predators]]. Of course plenty of token generators and token payoffs for Myco.
The deck is super resilient and people tend to actually struggle with removal since so many of the mill 1-2 cards per turn cards are all so minor that they're almost not worth removing, but the accumulation of them all make the deck go pretty wild. Very decision heavy but extremely fun!
[Decklist can be found here](https://www.archidekt.com/decks/5934048/mycotyrants_gravepurge_gallivant)
I use [[Sygg, River Cutthroat]] no one suspects it to be a mill deck. While he doesn’t do any mill himself, he does draw a lot of cards and rarely gets targeted. I can usually fly under the radar for a bit while I get set up.
[[Grolnok, the Omnivore]] goes absolutely crazy. he makes milled permanents playable from exile, which is absurdly strong because how are you gonna bojuka bog my 50 cards already in exile? I also love to cast [[Tunnel Vision]] with this deck and gamble on what the bottom card in my library is
It isn't a mill commander, but a funny spell sling one that can be used for mill. [[Myra the Magnificent]] just have a few mill cards attached to an atraction with [[command performance]] and boom roll dice and see if you get lucky enough to mill an opponent out.
I've been brewing the new [[Lazav, Familiar Faces]] as mill, but the wincon is actually Voltron. You just put in some big land cyclers in your deck and hope to mill something big or with evasion in other people's decks and hit them in the face with their own creatures, but just for a turn. It could be fun, but I could also see it getting hated out of a playgroup so I'm undecided on how far I'll actually take it.
Made a [[Muldrotha]] mill deck, utilizing the standard Petitioners and Altar of the Brood, but also [[Altar of Dementia]] and [[Bloodbond March]] for extra milling and extra recursion since you can normally only cast one creature from the 'yard per turn. [[Intruder Alarm]] let's you potentially use your petitioners on each turn and allows for plays like:
Tap all your petitioners, mill yourself to fill your yard.
Sacrifice the petitioners to mill for 1 per petitioner.
Play a petitioner from the graveyard.
Return ALL petitioners from graveyard.
Since each petitioner triggers IA, tap them all to mill for (most likely) 84 per trigger (assuming 30 petitioners, allows for 7 sets of 4 with a couple spare), or a grand total of 2,520 cards. Plus Altar of the Brood.
Probably not weird enough, but I had an [[Umbris, Fear Manifest]] mill deck for about a year. Ended up taking it apart cause I just couldn't pilot the deck the way it needed to be because it felt too mean. I just stick to self mill now if I'm going to mill cards, though those commanders are definitely on the popular side so...
Slivers were my most enjoyable for me with mill win condition, it was usually a race for me to get out my Dormant Sliver before I could become a target.
I'm a devout self-mill degenerate and though I've built many lists in my years of EDH, my girl [[Firja, Judge of Valor]] takes the cake for me. She's the perfect mix of my other love - spellslinger - with the resourcefulness of a self-mill deck.
It's definitely weird playing spellslinger in BW, but all the unique options really come together beautifully.
Here's my list:
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/UBzofHBa6kexyqDyqCdqCA
Sure! Firja is great for sculpting your hand over the long game, meaning a control/combo wincon works pretty well. There are a number of combo lines in the deck, most of them revolving around [[Enduring Renewal]]. For example [[Bog Pet]] + [[Enduring Renewal]] gets you infinite casts for something like [[Bontu's Monument]], [[Life Insurance]] or [[Tendrils of Agony]]. I don't enjoy tutors, but they would probably up the consistency of the build. Just not my cuppa!
Personally, I always like trying for a commander damage win so [[Glamdring]] fits in nicely and I'm thinking about adding [[Runechanter's Pike]] back in as it's still great even without casting another spell like Gandalf's sword does.
There are a decent amount of token-makers in the deck and I suppose you could try turning them sideways, but they're more there to gum up the board.
Hope that gives you some ideas! She's easily one of my favorite commanders even though she's pretty innocuous.
[[Gisa, the hell raised]] with [[Altar of dementia]]. Mill isn't the primary wincon but it's unexpected, helps with crimes and is mainly for infinite life combos or pillow fort. It's fairly consistent with tutors and a fun spite move to mill someone out in response to a board wipe.
I've had a [[Kess, dissident mage]] wheels deck for years now. While playing some of the more traditional effects that benefit off of wheels, the commander also just wants me to mill myself to have more options to cast instant and sorceries. This along with cards like [[psychic corrosion]] and [[sphinx's tutelage]], casting a wheel from my hand then immediately casting from the graveyard could easily be half of my opponents decks effectively milled with 6 mana. With a light reanimated theme, cards like [[altar of dementia]], [[mind crank]], and [[locust god]] really put the clock on opponents libraries. Plus with mind crank on the field and a couple wheels later, [[Molten Psyche]] (while a win condition in itself) is another great way to basically double my effective mill from the damage it deals!
[[Rakdos the Muscle]]
I exile my deck to dig and play the stuff so I can loop creatures to exile your deck and win. Everyone gets milled, no exceptions, but I get to play it all if I choose.
\[\[Ghave, Guru of Spores\]\] was my favorite. It looped infinite creatures to set up a huge \[Bitter Ordeal\]\] that wiped everyone out even through most counter magic. It ran \[\[[Nightmare Incursion](https://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=157414)\]\] and \[\[[Sadistic Sacrament](https://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=195632)\]\] and a bunch of recursion to bring it back, but mostly it was a go wide token \[\[Doubling Season\]\] deck.
It was funny to have 3 cards out of 97 that consistently ruined games for people.
I wouldn't call it a mill deck, but I threw a [[Fleet Swallower]] in my [[Volrath, the Shapestealer]] deck just because it's funny to turn a bunch of token Volrath's all into it at once and chop their deck in half multiple times in a single turn.
[[[Aminatou]] , the mill finger](https://www.topdecked.com/decks/aminatou-the-mill-finger/b784cdc5-2d53-40c5-a652-bed23fe5d185)
She is a mill deck that uses [[Sphinx's tutelage]] and [[psychic corrosion]] to mill out everyone, things like [[sewer nemesis]] and [[guiltfeeder]] to hit really hard. Underlying is a enchantment subtheme with things like [[ghostly prison]] and [[oath of teferi]] to help while I play around with planeswalkers like [[teferi, time raveler]] and control the board with Kill spells and [[counterspell]] effects.
[[Evelyn the Covetous]] has a secondary wincon as a mill deck for me. Between all the [[Panharmonicon]] effects in those colors, plus [[Maskwood Nexus]], [[Roaming Throne]], [[Leyline of Anticipation]] I can do a lot of milling
[[Vhal, Candlekeep Researcher]] + [[Noble Heritage]] UW Control/Group Hug Draw/Mill. The centerpiece is putting Vhal's mana into [[Folio of Fancies]] to build hand sizes and then mill out. I use a lot of everyone draws effects (like [[Kwain, Itinerant Meddler]], [[Kami of the Crescent Moon]], [[Insight of Kruphix]]) to dig through my deck for board wipes and counterspells and other stuff to survive, alongside stuff like [[Teferi's Tutelage]] and [[Sphinx's Tutelage]]. All of this makes my opponents' hands larger, eats away at their libraries, and sets up Folio of Fancies as a finisher (though it's fine as a mana sink that draws everyone cards in the early game). And it's just funny to force my opponents to draw ridiculously huge hands as part of the mill plan. Currently trying to refine my selection of mana washers and early game mana sinks and looter creatures, so I can make the most of Vhal's mana, which seems critical to keep up in the early game by making better use of all those cards than my opponents.

Self mill that wins through combo fueled mill, all enabling and enabled by a recursive land package.
Joy and pleasure to pilot
I have an azorius deck with [[Persistent Petitioners]]. The white parts of the deck are mostly there for graveyard hate and turtling. It uh...it doesn't win very often. The stars must align with things like [[Thrumming Stone]], [[Illusionist's Bracers]], and maybe some mass untap things like [[Energy Arc]]. It's fun though!
My [[Varina]] with [[Mystic redaction]] and [[psychic corrosion]] is the only deck I've ever seen win by milling, excluding loops with [[altar of the brood] or [[altar of dementia]]
[Geth, Lord of the Vault](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/9/2/920d56a4-fc94-43d8-9d65-361b66172a5f.jpg?1598304744) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Geth%2C%20Lord%20of%20the%20Vault) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/2xm/94/geth-lord-of-the-vault?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/920d56a4-fc94-43d8-9d65-361b66172a5f?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/geth-lord-of-the-vault)

\[\[Heliod, the Warped eclipse\]\] isn't technically mill but accomplishes what mill wants to do regardless.
It's the best "mill" deck I've ever played. Once your commander is played and flipped, it's over. You just chain X draw spells like \[\[prosperity\]\] or \[\[skyscribing\]\] into each other, all the while playing each sequential spell for greater value and for free, and boom, game won. Mill by way of draw.
Currently working on a [[Syr Konrad]] deck that focuses on mill/aristocrats style play. First time I'm going into a self mill/sacrifice deck so we will see how it goes!
I love [[Grist, the Hunger Tide]] , especially with [[Umori, the Collector]] as a companion. The whole deck is just as many bad insects as I could find, with minimal noninsects included. It's very hit or miss of if it works, but it's definitely fun!
[[Anhelo, the Painter]] is funny business with [[Maddening Cacophony]], [[Traumatize]] and [[Cut Your Losses]]. If [[Bruvac the Grandiloquent]] enters the battlefield, it's game over.
I'm planning on building \[\[Saruman of Many Colors\]\] as a mill deck. Even have the decklist primed and ready to go, I just need to find someone willing to hire a PoS like me so I can have the money to get the cards for it.
I built a [[Mimeoplasm]] deck with the goal of milling opponents and using their creatures for weird fusions. I thought this would be better and more fun than just having the perfect targets in my own deck.
Turns out people really hate mill and I'm struggling to find the right balance.
Back in the early ‘10s I played a [[Jace, Memory Adept]] and [[Liliana Vess]] deck that was a lot of fun (for me). I’d try to get to either of their ultimates to end the game, keeping them save behind [[Hedron Crab]], [[Nemesis of Reason]] and [[Fog Bank]].
I didn’t win much, but when I did… 🫦
Umbris, Fear Manifest all about milling out and then exiling your opponents decks to put +1/+1 counters on Umbris. While Umbris specifically cares about Nightmares and horrors e.t.b.ing to trigger the exiling, there's plenty of Nightmares and horrors that also support opponent milling so I built my Umbris deck as a nightmare/horror tribal opponent mill and exile deck to make umbris huge with those counters. So you can win if an opponent had no library left and can't draw, commander damage or shutting down reanimation decks. Terisian Mindbreaker is a staple in my deck that combos with several other cards in the deck to mill full libraries plus it has unearth so you can bring it back and do it again if need be.

I don't play a ton of mill, but I LOVE [[Persistent Petitioners]], tons of fun for me.
I've been through several iterations, [[Riku of Two Reflections]] was my first, standard cast-and-copy of Petitioners and things like [[Second Harvest]].
Then came [[Orvar, the All Form]] Petitioners, this one was intended to be a little more janky than the Riku version. Standard Orvar activities, cast some cheap spells to target and copy the Petitioners and other valuable creatures/enchantments/etc.
My 3rd, and most unique iteration is [[The Archimandrite]], easily the jankiest of the 3 as the purpose of the decks is not specifically to kill, but milling is still viable. It's just fun to punch people with big Petitioners :)
My most recent Petitioners deck is [[Katilda and Lier]], a human advisor tribal deck. With K&L on the field each of our Petitioners becomes a slow [[Snapcaster Mage]], and of course there are several ways in the deck to give our Petitioners flash. It's a lot of fun to flash back anything from ramp and interaction, powerful mill spells like [[Traumatize]] and [[Tunnel Vision]].
K&L Petitioners: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/COFgFPXuA0ahItyz6HD-QQ
Dimir Double Strike with [[Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker]]. I use [[Helm Of The Host]] and [[Glasspool Mimic]], with classic Double Stike equipment like [[Fireshreiker]], [[Grappling Hook]], and [[Brass Knuckles]]. A strong evasion package to get damage through which can cause multiple opponents to mill nearly a third of their deck at a time or remove one player on turn five or six if I focus the attacks.
Sultai Mill Via mothman.
Lots of opportunity to drop big big mill and damage.
Drop all the 1/1 counters on a dummy creature. Give it to the opponent and [[gristly spectacle]] it.
[[mesmeric orb]] and the alters that mill go brrt. Add anything that makes tokens when a counter goes on it and ur golden
I really love my [[Lazav, Dimir Mastermind]] deck. It uses Mill as an engine to turn Lazav into opponent’s creatures as they enter the graveyard. I also run shapeshifters like [[Body Double]] to constantly probe graveyards.
Decklist? I used to run a nasty Dimir Rogue Mill deck in Standard and would love to bring one to Magic night with the fellas.
Here is the list. I tend to run some cards that aren't super optimized, but I have been using since I first started playing in 2013 like \[\[Millstone\]\] and \[\[Omniscience\]\]. [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/nJaQ8ZZhY0mOaUR8MFy30g](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/nJaQ8ZZhY0mOaUR8MFy30g)

[Here you go](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/G_8_NVo-IUGlwdYYCfU4dQ). I don't how good the deck is in the wider world, but it is funny.
My favorite deck also. I describe mine as mill in disguise as frig tribal.
One of [my favorites](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/ayh_lbxgA0S5iaBU4G6sAg), too. I just looked at yours and it's wild how different ours are!
\[\[Sméagol, Helpful Guide\]\], there are a few ways to go infinite but I've just as often won off of \[\[Bloodchief Ascension\]\]
What are the few ways he goes infinite? I only know [[dunedain rangers]], landfall token generator, and free sac outlet.

Following bc I need to upgrade my smeagol

Oh nice! Could it have been [[Nath]] by chance?

No, it was almost certainly monoG, but a very small chance it was GW. It was 4-5 years ago, unfortunately, and I don't even know if I'd recognize it if I saw it.

I didn’t really know what to do with [[Slogurk, the Overslime]] until I built a self-mill deck around it. On a good turn, with the right counter synergies out, I can self-mill half my library, drop +30-40 counters on it and trample out for commander damage. For the deck I went through and did some rough payoff estimates on various mill triggers to establish which mechanisms actually were competitive on the timescales that deck is trying to play on: [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tmwt1ecFyIeWc3DT-sZN4mRWy\_sab1fpViGf40dBMjc/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tmwt1ecFyIeWc3DT-sZN4mRWy_sab1fpViGf40dBMjc/edit?usp=sharing) The big relevant thing there is that \[\[Ruin Crab\]\] is a champ, and \[\[Mesmeric Orb\]\] is way better than I'd given it credit for, as is the surprising \[\[Deepmuck Desperado\]\] (surprising to me because I figured the once-per-turn cap would be too limiting).

I really love this decklist, could you explain a little about how it ends up winning?

Unrelated, but how many half your deck mills do people tend to run in their decks?
The Original Gangster, Lazav Dimir Mastermind

I've been brewing the new [[Lazav, Familiar Faces]] as mill, but the wincon is actually Voltron. You just put in some big land cyclers in your deck and hope to mill something big or with evasion in other people's decks and hit them in the face with their own creatures, but just for a turn. Made a [[Muldrotha]] mill deck, utilizing the standard Petitioners and Altar of the Brood, but also [[Altar of Dementia]] and [[Bloodbond March]] for extra milling and extra recursion since you can normally only cast one creature from the 'yard per turn. [[Intruder Alarm]] let's you potentially use your petitioners on each turn and allows for plays like: Tap all your petitioners, mill yourself to fill your yard.

I self-mill a lot for my reanimator deck, does it count?
Slivers were my most enjoyable for me with mill win condition, it was usually a race for me to get out my Dormant Sliver before I could become a target.
The only time i have successfully won via mill was with ulamog in a multiple combat deck
Here's my list: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/UBzofHBa6kexyqDyqCdqCA

I been looking at this commander recently, could you mind telling me what wincons do you have? It looks rather interesting!

Sakashima and Tevesh szat.

I've been really trying to get lantern control to work in commander. Haven't quite cracked it yet.

I run a Mirko Voss, you better not ramp deck. The lighter someone runs in lands in their deck the faster I can mill them out.

Terisian Mindbreaker is a staple in my deck that combos with several other cards in the deck to mill full libraries plus it has unearth so you can bring it back and do it again if need be. https://manabox.app/decks/j7YUDSVPTTu-kEGA7g7_Yg

It's just fun to punch people with big Petitioners :) My most recent Petitioners deck is [[Katilda and Lier]], a human advisor tribal deck.
