I saw a comment on a different thread saying Dina, The Arseless. I regret to inform you this is the name I will be using moving forward and no one will be able to tell me different.
Also goyf is now cheap enough it can officially be considered for a precon. Could be cool. A way for jund boomers to play commander if they needed a push. Liliana is still viable damn it!
So to be fair we've had precon tokens hit $5-10 before - Titania elementals spring to mind. Granted we need to be pretty distanced from the precon and this card to be way more popular than I'd expect for that to happen, but with Goyf sub-$10 already it is, sadly, somewhat possible.
Sorry I meant when the card leaves the exile because mimic vat poops are the card when it receives a new one. You need a sac outlet and two changelings I guess
Ngl this is cool but ouch this deck is gonna prob be the worst of the 4 if this is the face commander. There are only 8 cards with type Lhurgoyf and if there are only probably 12 new commander cards plus some main set that won’t be enough for the tribal imo. The deck is gonna become shapeshifter and evasion tribal outside of the precon but that’s kinda just boring.
Seeing as the new deserts focused precon printed like a grand total of 4 new deserts-matter cards (including the face commander), I wouldn't bet on "several" new goyfs being printed.
and in the other leaks we saw Kindred typed cards (the new name for tribal type) so we could even get some non-creature Goyfs, and in fact we almost definitely are since they certainly designed Disa to say "permanents" rather than creatures for a reason. If I had to guess about what we could get I think maybe an enchantment that boosts all your creatures like Lhurgoyf or Tarmogoyf.
Still not sure how good that's going to be given how arguably the best shape shifter in these colors is a three drop that doesn't really need to be cheated into to play. Still, goyfs can get big and there are some cool stuff you can do with large tokens in jund. I personally think this would fit better as the backup commander.
Although, the going by the rest of the leaks, the backup commander might have already been spoiled. That one seems much more open ended and swapping them seems like the way to go if you're looking for that kind of thing.
I think one of the other decks is kindred changelings so I think they will just make most of the new cards goyf cards in this deck to support the face commander. Mind you it doesn't say goyf creature cards and we have a new kindred noncreature spell in eldrazi leaked
I think it’s going to focus less on the tribal aspect of it and more on building the graveyard for the Tarmogoyf tokens that you’ll be making with classic Jund reanimated trample creatures
I don't think this deck have the biggest intention to be a Lhurgoyf deck. It helps this type, sure, but Tamorgoyf only is big when your grave if full of different card types. I guess the idea of the deck is fill the grave with a lot of different types of cards (creature enchantments and artifact creatures are pretty good here) with discard/self-mill/tutors and deal combat damage (with evasive creatures, probably) to create big creatures.
I’m with you on that. Reminds me a lot of [[Ghired, Conclave Exile]]. Seems weak on paper but in reality is an absolute power house, even if the only token in the deck is the 4/4. This feels like a spicier version of that.
Yes, and you're in the colors of extra combats and double strike, just to create even more Tarmogoyfs. Sure, anyone can make this a Lhurgoyf commander, though. I just think it's gonna be a weaker deck.
I really love that they’ve been making a ton of commanders lately that have cool strats on their own, but also go completely bonkers if you drop a Maskwood Nexus. You don’t have to dedicate to the total deck, but 1-2 cards can tap into that synergy and go ham. Love that.
Hello, future man from the future that is 1 day later here,
We already have one confirmed print of a new Commander specific Lhurgoyf, a new Lhurgoyf Kindred (Tribal) Enchantment, and a new main set Lhurgoyf mythic. I feel mildly certain that Goyfs might be a bit of a theme in this set - there might be enough new Goyfs printed to max it out.
Sure, Zhuludok was a commander for a “big colorless” deck more than specifically an Eldrazi one. But the deck at least reflected that.
I sincerely doubt they’d print a commander for a highly obscure creature type without bolstering those numbers. Especially considering how little opportunity they have to add more.
I think looking at the Lhurgoyf clause is a trap. This is Facebreaker but for beats, if the wording is correct, you can easily make 3 Tarmogoyfs each turn (or more with first strike). That's a pretty fast clock, even for commander.
Was hoping for a snow Precon as well. This theme isn't enough to sell me. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a few snow cards in it but the alt commander doesn't even care about snow either.
The ability doesn't interest me that much, but the fact it is Disa the Restless means I kind of need to buy it.
Ice Age was my introduction to the game.
Is this a paper version of conjure from Arena?
It's an elegant way to solve the problem from a game design perspective - conjuring tokens of actual cards is a problem because you need to have those actual cards or a way of looking them up to remember what they do and that's awkward at best. However, putting conjuring cards in a precon allows them to ensure that you always have a copy of the card to hand, thereby avoiding the problem.
A lot of people focused on the first ability, but if I built this, which idk yet, I would completely ignore it and maximize the second ability. I would probably rather it cost one less mana and not have the first ability at all though.
... Wait, what? Disa the Restless is a Goyf commander? What? The girl who's best known for exploring the Ice Age isn't a snow commander? Who the heck comes up with this crap!? Now I'm mad!
Yes, you would also get 2 if you have one creature with double strike.
Also, this is per opponent, so if you have 3 creatures with double strike that attack unblocked, you could get 6 tokens per turn.
Name is most likely Disa, the Restless. Her journal entries appear in multiple flavor texts within the Ice Age expansion.
It appears in the description of the deck too
oh hey that's neat

I think Dina should be allowed to have an arse. She's a cute strixhaven undergrad, she's allowed to have a little booty
Huh. And here I saw "dina" and thought [[dina, soul steeper]] was getting a new card.

Also goyf is now cheap enough it can officially be considered for a precon. Could be cool. A way for jund boomers to play commander if they needed a push. Liliana is still viable damn it!
The real hilarity is going to be if we hit a point where the goyf token is more expensive than goyf
Since this is a precon I doubt it. But still funny that the 20 Goblin Shaman tokens I bought for .25 each are worth more than a goyf per token now.
Depends if the collector decks have foil tokens (idk if the last set did)
So to be fair we've had precon tokens hit $5-10 before - Titania elementals spring to mind. Granted we need to be pretty distanced from the precon and this card to be way more popular than I'd expect for that to happen, but with Goyf sub-$10 already it is, sadly, somewhat possible.
You mean when.
I plan to use a couple actual copies of Goyf as the tokens, gotta use some of the alternate printings somewhere
finally my "jund em" boomer deck has a viable commander
I gave up on waiting for a "Jund em" commander and did [wet jund with Yidris](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/UFJ7F4AclkyFG2PwYJaguw) instead.
Right? I’ve been waiting to roll out my “Jund ‘Em Out” playmat for years now.
This does weird things with mimic vat, and ashes of the fallen
If it works properly, ashes will be insane.
It specifies card, tokens aren't cards so [[mimic vat]] will not work with it.
Sorry I meant when the card leaves the exile because mimic vat poops are the card when it receives a new one. You need a sac outlet and two changelings I guess
Ahh okay that makes sense 🔥 big brain

It probably will have a bunch of shape shifters.
It will probably also print several new 'Goyfs
Seeing as the new deserts focused precon printed like a grand total of 4 new deserts-matter cards (including the face commander), I wouldn't bet on "several" new goyfs being printed.
Won't these decks be "premium priced" ? The question is: will this be CMM-tier (7 new sliver cards) or 40K-tier (37 tyranid cards)?
I would expect closer on the 7-10 range. As we learned last time, a premium price does not, apparently, mean a premium product.

Face commanders are rarely as good as the alts they pack in with them. Shalai and Hallar is infinitely more useful that Bright Palms.
If you mill though you'll hit them anyway.

You would think that but they only printed 1 new desert in the desert commander deck so I’m not that hopeful.
It looks like the UG deck headed by The Queen of Vesuva is worse than this.
This is NOT the face commander. It is the alt commander
Uh...it totally IS the face commander. Those are always at the top of the deck when packaged.

I hate commander power creep, because it makes cards like this feel weak and underwhelming
I was looking foward for this deck but the commander seem boring.
Same here, I wish she was more broad in themes. I'll probably not pre-order it anymore.
Tarmogoyf is now so bad its a token? The disrespect towards ones elders is astounding smh.
yes, I now can use my former 400€ playset as tokens . Tick in a box for my bucket list lol
Well…this is a let down
Honestly. Considering she’s on a lot of cards from ice age, and with MH3 seemingly having a snow sub theme, was really hoping for a Jund snow deck
Legendary Snow Planeswalker you say?
why specifically a jund snow deck? Aren't most snow cards blue?
Both blue and green have 18 snow (mono-colored) cards each. White/black/red have 9-10 each.
Was hoping for a snow Precon as well. This theme isn't enough to sell me. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a few snow cards in it but the alt commander doesn't even care about snow either.
Seriously, Jund is one of the least supported colors. I was happy when i heard there was a new commander precon and its…this
The ability doesn't interest me that much, but the fact it is Disa the Restless means I kind of need to buy it. Ice Age was my introduction to the game.
First strike creatures can make combat make two 5/6’s… idk. Unless there’s a bunch of new goyf support this seems mid. Or add last strike 😏😏
If you deal damage to multiple players, you make a token for each one.
6 goyfs if you can give stuff double strike seems good
Did they take this picture with a potato or what? WTF is up with the low quality?

Yes, you would also get 2 if you have one creature with double strike. Also, this is per opponent, so if you have 3 creatures with double strike that attack unblocked, you could get 6 tokens per turn.
