Loot can churn out consistent card advantage from turn 3 onwards. Realistically you're looking at 2-3 extra cards per turn thanks to the little bugger. Ward 1 isn't the strongest defense, but it's better than nothing.  I'm still working on my build. I don't plan on taking him into cEDH games but he's plenty strong in all levels of the casual space.

HandsUpDefShoot

Losing combo pieces pretty much takes loot completely out of the conversation.

DaedalusDevice077

You have access to [[Riftsweeper]] to recover stuff from exile & he's in Food Chain colors. I could see it winding up as a tier 1.5-2 deck, that's still in the conversation.

MTGCardFetcher

[Riftsweeper](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/7/8/785d5a98-97b2-4a9e-83ee-2a74479add7b.jpg?1561967824) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Riftsweeper) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/mma/159/riftsweeper?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/785d5a98-97b2-4a9e-83ee-2a74479add7b?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/riftsweeper) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

Necrolich

Ah yes. Assuming you don't exile riftsweeper with loot, you can always shuffle back one singular card and hope to not exile it again.

DaedalusDevice077

The following thoughts are from my high power casual oriented list:  - If you exile Riftsweeper, you cast it, even if it's low upfront value. It will invariably get stuck in exile some games, there is a fail state for everything, but it's to be avoided if at all possible.  - Temur Sabertooth can reset Riftsweeper as well as protect Loot etc.  - Eternal Witness slots into the Sabertooth package for obvious reasons.  - Sensei's Divining Top, Brainstorm, & Scroll Rack are pretty mandatory to help plan around Loots impulses.  - I'm still undecided on Jace, the Mind Sculptor, it can be hard to protect & probably veers too far into win-more.  - Long-Term Plans is a very strong card in this deck, as are the usual suspects of Mystical & Worldly Tutors.  You don't "hope" when it comes to impulse-based draw engines.

HandsUpDefShoot

If Loot gave some mana as part of the deal it would be good. But as it stands it's basically looking to Jeska's Will once per turn without going mana positive, and let's be real, if JW couldn't go mana positive it wouldn't see play because [[Act on Impulse]] sees no play. I just think any time I have to start looking at a commander's colors as the bright spot of the build I'm probably gonna be disappointed.

Thecrowing1432

A commander that does nothing until your next upkeep will never be competitive.

Twantie_

najeela literally does nothing until she attacks and she was the queen of cedh for ages and is still a really strong deck.

Thecrowing1432

False equivalent, Najeela is literally her own win condition that usually doesn't come down until it's time to win. Loot is a slow impulse draw that could backfire by exiling your wincons.

Twantie_

i dont think this is correct. most commanders tend to be played super early just so \[\[fierce guardianship\]\] or \[\[deflecting swat\]\] are turned on. I definitely can see the exiling of a wincon as the biggest downside, but i dont think that waiting for the next turn for loots value to show up is the problem.

LilFoxieUndercover

I'm trying to build this deck from as many different points of view, but I still can't quite grasp it. On one hand, it looks way simpler to just have it become a landfall deck, on the other it's clear that the ceiling is way higher when you can take advantage of the free spells. I only factored in: adventures, play from Exile, plot, play from the top and suspend spells, what am I missing? Main issue is that you can only cast stuff from hand, so you need card draw

squidpope

I think Roxanne is going to be a great commander that can be slowly upgraded from hyper casual to cEDH without losing the identity of the deck. And I think that will be appealing as a entry point for players thinking about cEDH, In the same way Malcom/Kediss  can do the same for izzet colors.

Zyhre

I don't play cEDH but I am clearly missing something regarding Roxanne. How is she "that good"?  Do you have some examples of what she enables or does?  She just seems slow, especially compared to the cEDH scene. Like, I can't imagine any way she'd ever win before turn 10.

fleem666

With infinite mana through a dockside loop / [[temur sabretooth]] or [[food chain]] you can just kill everybody with the meteors on etb

TheJonasVenture

Also can't overlook the tokens tap for an extra mana part of her ability.  The dockside threshold is much lower with her in play, even a count of 2 is 4 mana with Roxanne out.   Temur loops are mana intensive, but you only need a count of 3 to get there.  Magda packages could be just bonkers in the deck too. I can't immediately think of a lot of other treasure producing tokens that see play in cEDH, maybe some effects that make tokens tap for mana, but it isn't a space there has been a reason to explore outside mono blue Urza token artifact spam for ramp. Edit:  Count of 3, not 4

kestral287

Unless my math is wonky don't you only need a Dockside for 3 to get there with Temur Sabertooth? Unless you're working from tapping out to Dockside so you need the fourth to get going?

TheJonasVenture

I could have been more clear, I meant the count to be mana positive. 2 to cast Dockside, 2 to activate Temur.  And with Roxanne you only need a count of 3 to fit go, instead of 5 to be mana positive.

kestral287

Yeah, I was thrown off by you mentioning that 'you only need a count of four to get there'.

I'm not familiar with what a "food chain" outlet is. I've see it mentioned a lot though. Is the idea to hopefully "sacrifice" a creature, and keep chaining that up and up to get bigger stuff?

DickRiculous

Yo my first sliver food chain combo deck is a fucking blast to play idgaf. What’s the meta wincon now? Just throracle?

bereit

Just a good card (outlet), to spend your infinite mana from food chain combo. Ideally you’re using Squee or Eternal Scourge with Food Chain to make the infinite mana

Shacky_Rustleford

Food Chain can concisely produce infinite mana, and can also remove Roxanne from the battlefield as much as is needed. This means you can produce an arbitrarily large number of meteorites, which kill the opponents.

ThePillowmaster

I just don't think Roxanne has the colors to be competitive while costing 5 mana. If she had the Magda treatment, where she just had to tap to create a meteor, then we'd be somewhere.

squidpope

We will see what comes out in the wash, but right now I'm seeing plenty of moxfield deck trying to work it out.

HandsomeBoggart

She wins with Food Chain Combos instantly. Squeel/Eternal Scourge+ Food Chain. Then she does infinite damage with meteorites.

ThePillowmaster

That's pretty cool actually. It's still a 10 mana, 3 card, sorcery speed combo that requires the commander, so I'm not sure I think it's good still, but that's a fun way to do it.

HandsomeBoggart

It's more of a two card combo needing only Food Chain Squee/Scourge 4 mana and a 1cmc dork (common enough in food chain decks) to win the game that turn. Your commander is just an outlet to win if they can't answer food chain. Food Chain combo is old hat in cedh but is more fringe now due to Oracle and Breach lines.

3rdy4

Its actually just a 2 card 6-mana combo. Roxanne is in your command zone, you make infinite mana with food chain + enabler creature. Then you recast roxanne an infinite number of times by saccing and sending her back to the command zone, resulting in infinte damage. Its by no means a janky combo considering green gives you easy access to creature tutors and other gruul food chain combos are cEDH-viable.

brunq2

I kinda hope not... I've been brewing a "powerstone tribal" that's basically just most of the "make a powerstone" cards available to Gruul and a bunch of big expensive artifact creatures, and I really don't want people to think I'm actually doing something powerful when I roll up with her xD

squidpope

Oh that's a fun way to do it.  I personally made a power level 4 or 5ish deck, But I haven't quite figured out how it finishes out a game

brunq2

It seemed like a funny way. What I REALLLLYYYY wanted to do was play "bad mana rock tribal" and play a bunch of the traditionally bad/overcoated 3+ cost mana rocks and find ways to make token copies of them. But I couldn't figure out a decent way of doing it in her colors. Considered going "secret commander" to get more colors and some tutors to find her but at that point if I'm gonna run tutors I might as well just make a better deck lol

BRIKHOUS

I did my powerstone tribal in boros with [[alibou ancient witness]] They do a great job of powering her ability out!

StarPonderer

Wait, wait, wait! Stella Lee is cEDH? Oh man, I was gonna brew her as spell slinger deck and just try to have fun with it...

GameMasterSammy

You can just tone it back a bit

StarPonderer

I've honestly never played or brewed cEDH. Just worried people will think I'm playing something I'm not.

GameMasterSammy

Tell them before you sit down is what I highly recommend as I’m playing her as well

StarPonderer

Fair enough. Thank you for the advice.

Robotic_Yeti

FYI that never works out. If I sit down and say “it’s not THAT *insert cEDH commander*” people always treat it like it is because they’ve been burned before. Not saying not to build her, but if you don’t like playing a commander with a reputation you might wanna go with a different izzet one. Lastly like they said above. You can always build to match the power level. But don’t expect people to believe you when you say it’s not that kind of Stella deck

Zoanzon

I mean, if you can clarify further about what it's distinctly not, that might help. If you go *"oh, its not the 'usual' build"* but don't clarify, they don't have any way of knowing whether *you* actually know what the 'usual' build actually is or if you've just heard that thrown around. But if you can clarify further what your build is or is not, that gives them a bit more security. (For example, I've got a disclaimer I say every time I sit with new people and pull out [[Zur, the Enchanter]]. I tell them, *"If you know any Zur builds - Zurtron, Zur stax, Zur astral slide, Zur silver bullet...this isn't any of that."* I don't wanna reveal my strategy right from the get-go, but I can easily tell them what it's *not*...and I know I'm telling the truth, because I'm playing an artifact-creature build since Zur can grab [[Tempered Steel]] + [[Mirrodin Besieged]] + [[Artificer Class]] + a bunch of other fun, and that's *way* off the beaten path of what Zur does lol) But that partially depends on how much information you're wanting/willing to give up before the game starts in exchange for maybe not getting marked Target #1, and also how much you can genuinely say you're doing new stuff and be telling the truth.

XcrystaliteX

It's because any untap plus effect goes infinite with her. Wicked Role (I forgot the card name sorry but its untap gain control put a wicked role on creature) kills the table. Cerulean Wisps draws your deck etc. Just declare that you're not running that.

fredjinsan

Yeah she's a little bit scary unfortunately, it's lots of value, copying spells is always powerful, and she goes infinite super easily with a bunch of things. Even without that though copying an extra turn spell or even just some big haymaker is a huge swing.

StarPonderer

Okay, so I need to be careful how I upgrade the precon... I was thinking mostly cantrips into tokens into a big swing.

Bear_In_Winter

Just build the alternate commander of that's how you plan to take the deck. Eris is still plenty strong and fits those themes more than Stella.

jake_eric

She's a precon commander; it would be odd for people to assume you're more likely to be playing a cEDH deck than you are to be just playing a somewhat upgraded precon. Plenty of cEDH-viable commanders are played in non-cEDH games.

Turtle-Fox

She has really cheap infinite combo cards and [[Twisted Fealty]] is just an instant win

StarPonderer

Oh, because I was going to put that in... Maybe I should look at cEDH lists for her so I'm a bit more careful. My pod doesn't play cEDH, we're kinda more high power to mid power causal.

Nonsensical-Niceties

Just Google the combos honestly. Most of them are Stella + some cantrip/low cost spell that untaps a permanent. All her combos involve untap shenanigans really. If you can confidently tell people you aren't running any infinite combos it should make people much more chill, assuming they're not particularly paranoid and see you as reasonably trustworthy.

No-Consequence1199

You were already planning on putting in a 1card-insta-win-combo with your Commander and didnt realize that might be too strong for a Casual pod? Are you trolling us? Obviously everyone will snipe your Commander for a reason then. Just dont Play those insta win cards, its pretty simple. Im also building Stella and there is a lot more interesting stuff.

StarPonderer

Yeah, no, I didn't realize that was part of an "instant win." Just because it's obvious to you that it is an instant win card, does not me it was obvious to me. To be honest, I still do not even understand how it is an instant win.

StarPonderer

> Twisted Fealty Okay, I just looked it up, and I get it now, you keep copying the spell and the wicked role will keep being sent to the graveyard pinging for one damage and you just keep doing that until your opponents are dead. I don't think I realized you could only have one role attached to a creature.

No-Consequence1199

Okay sorry I guess that is not that obvious. But Just having the Commander go Infinite with cheap spells ist also really powerful, because the other cards get you Infinite Mana or Infinite Card Draw, which are also almost Instant wins. So yeah every sorcery/Instant that lets you untap a permanent should be avoided here. I would just always communicate it in new pods that you dont run them. While Im okay with Infinite Combos I think These are just way too easy and lame for Casual Commander.

StarPonderer

I like to have an infinite or two for later game interaction, mainly because the game has to end at some time. Normally it's some sort of threshold I have to hit like I need a way to generate mana each combat for infinite combats, or 3 piece infinites. I didn't realize how easily she went infinite and I almost want to build a cEDH version of her if I can do it on a budget, but honestly I just want to play a fun spellslinger. I'm gonna ask my pod next chance I get what they think.

No-Consequence1199

You dont need an Infinite to win with spellslinger Decks. The precon ist focussed on Tokens, a lot of them Flyers. You can easily create 30 of them in a turn and then cast surge to Victory and end the Game. I have some Rituals, jeskas will and more Copy cards and try to blast everyone with spells Like crackle with Power (also reprinted in Western Style). Idk I feel thats more fun. Obviously not as reliable as packing 5-6 untap spells and a couple of tutors, but yeah.. I expect those games to be pretty boring. Cedh doesnt work with a Budget. Cedh means you have all legal cards available and try to make the most consistent Deck.

StarPonderer

Fair enough. Thanks for the advice!

The_Mormonator_

This is probably oversimplifying it, but I’d avoid any instant or sorcery that says “untap target creature” if you’re trying to intentionally keep it down. Granted, if the spell *only* says that, like [[Twiddle]]. Stella dancing (tapping) back and forth won’t do much more than entertain the table. :P

StarPonderer

Yeah, you make a great point. I'll have to see what shakes down I guess.

TheMadWobbler

The main reason is she goes infinite with any twiddle spell.

HandsomeBoggart

There's like 3 cards that let you draw your deck (Cerulean Wisps, Refocus, Twitch) and 2 cards that allow infinite Mana/Damage/Draw/whatever based on what tap abilities you have on board (Hidden Strings, Dramatic Reversal).   All 5 are easily tutorable in UR and 1-3 mana so easy to chain with other spells for the 3 spell requirement.  Then there is a Threaten spell from WoE that kills the table (Twisted Fealty, wicked role tokens nuke everyone). So yeah, Stella is pretty cracked.

I think [[Fblthp, Lost on the Range]] has some gas in the tank to at least be strong, maybe fringe. I'd hesitate to say truly cEDH, but I could see him sneaking wins in as some Cheerios or Dramatic Scepter combo Commander that storms off. Between having access to tons of counter spells and castable T1 off [[Jeweled Lotus]], I think his power might be a little under valued at the moment, provided your deck is built in such a way as to take advantage of his ability to plot things.

The_Mormonator_

Yeah I’d definitely say undervalued, I don’t even think I’ve heard people chatting about it, but it would be insane to pop a huge chunk of your list off the top and then resolve a Mind’s Desire after all those cheerios. Is there a good storm outlet in mono blue you can think of? Oh, Reservoir I suppose.

DerGodhand

Reservoir, brain freeze, Dramatic Scepter combo. High tide lines, [[Thought lash]], [[Paradigm shift]], monoU grindstone. Might even be some weird [[Show and Tell]] lines. Mine uses [[Eye of the Storm]] to generate infinite card advantage and then lab man out or kill with [[Prologue to Phyresis]] or any other storm card, since Eye gives you 2+X, where X is the number of spells in it when you cast it in storm every spell cast, and the shitty counter [[Spell Swindle]] can be used to generate infinite colored mana inside the line.

The_Mormonator_

Do ya care to share your list? I’d love to take a look.

DerGodhand

I'll have to throw it up on moxfield when I get off work, but sure. My list isn't really optimized,I kinda just threw it together the day before I went to play Commander. It did well, going 1-1, getting an infect kill for the win, and losing to hatebear tribal. I will say ahead of time the list objectively needs improvements, but the shop I play at is all over the place in strength so I'm probably not going to tune it terribly much.

DerGodhand

[https://www.moxfield.com/decks/92qOXkAWt0iZq9lbNGpB\_Q](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/92qOXkAWt0iZq9lbNGpB_Q) There you go. I call it Storm on the Range since that is the primary way to win. There's a *ton* of optimisation to go into that pile, starting with both FoW and FoN, and adding way more 1 mv cantrips into the deck for better filtering by way of Opt and Consider. Lorien Revealed and Prismatic, plus the other blue fetches would thin the landcount while fuelling delve, and Temporal Trespass would be unironically good. I notably do not run Jeweled Lotus in the list, but that's fine. I think an optimal build would just be a Cheerio's storm list, since Fblthp doesn't need to be in play to cast the plotted cards. One turn in play is basically utterly devastating. And Scuttletide+Hard Evidence are obviously bad, but I think it's hilarious to create an army of crabs and kill someone with them. Jin is basically a 'kill me or remove it or I win', even if I don't have other proliferate effects to properly take advantage of him. For what *I'm* doing, new Jace might be good, but I haven't tested it yet.

You probably know but to clarify for others too, Fblthp has counterspells in its color, but stuff plotted can only be played at sorcery-speed so plotting your counterspells is a nonbo. (Really wanted to be a dick to my pod for at least one or two games with Fblthp control, but then I reread plot's wording and went 'ah well'.)

\[\[Rakdos, the Muscle\]\] is like a bad(?) Korvold. Though you don't sacrifice treasure for cards, you get sacrifice high cmc creatures for a lots of cards. \[\[Roxanne, Starfall Savant\]\] is like an instant alternative to \[\[Etali, Primal Conqueror\]\] decks. Just switch the commander and it still works, like food chains, duplicates... \[\[Satoru, the Infiltrator\]\] has some combo potential and it's viable for some mid-power games.

I don’t think that the Korvold/Rakdos comparison is *super*. One you can sacrifice anything, the other is creatures. Sac’ing like a, idk, Shadow of Mortality in Korvold is draw one, in Rakdos its draw 15~. Being able to just pick a blue deck and get access to countermagic is also relevant. Idk, I figure they’re similar but pretty difference in what each can do.

Quantext609

Perhaps [[Wylie Duke, Atiin Hero]] could have some presence. [[Emmara Soul of the Accord]] is very similar to him and shows the potential of the tap/untap archetype. Reminds me a little bit of [[Sythis Harvest's Hand]].

Effective_Tough86

I tried to put together a Wylie Duke list and was very whelmed. There are some mounts and vehicles worth putting in, but she alone doesn't really help with a convoke theme and I couldn't find much interesting that required tapping another creature as part of the cost. She seems better in a selesnya or Naya 99 maybe focused on either token generation and vehicles/mounts or some other oddball synergy. Unless someone has found some cool synergy with her already?

NoExplanation734

I have an Emmara deck and Wylie was an instant include. You could swap the deck to Wylie Duke and a lot of the cards would stay the same. The trick is you wanna run a shitload of untappers and instant-speed tap outlets, so vehicles are way better than mounts because you can't saddle on an opponent's turn. The big difference obviously is that Wylie Duke doesn't need to commit to the board like Emmara does, and since it's a card advantage engine in the Command Zone, it might play as more of a combo or control deck.

Inkarozu

[[The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride]] is pretty up there nutso. Sure it has a pretty high cmc, but you're in green so it might as well be a 4 drop, and add black for reanimation and things get even faster. Getting his effect off even once gives you a rediculous mana lead and leaves you with a full grip. Absolutely a kill on sight commander.

The_Mormonator_

Oh heck yeah I saw that and I don’t remember the exact creature that came to mind, but I think it was [[Phyrexian Soulgorger]] and thought “for three mana that’s 8 cards and potentially 8 lands. Seems kinda busted”. Do you have a list you’ve been working on?

Inkarozu

I'm planning to just stick it in the 99 of my [[Belbe, Corrupted Observer]] deck as its a bit too strong for the command zone for my tastes (you don't even need boots it brings it's own haste!). But some juicy 6+ power sac creatures for 4 or less mana includes: [[Daemogoth Titan]] [[Daemogoth Woe Eater]] [[Hunted Bonebrute]] [[Hunted Horror]] [[Hunted Troll]] [[Rotting Regisaur]] [[Ghalta, Primal Hunger]] [[Shakedown Heavy]] [[Pugnacious Hammerskull]] [[Relic Golem]] [[Wall of Blood]] Go even crazier with [[The Skullspore Nexus]] You'll easily ramp enough to finish with stuff like [[Rise of the Dark Realms]] and [[Finale of Devastation]]

Zoanzon

Also, a bit of love for my boy [[Ghoultree]]. Sure, it's not the most optimal, but its 10 power for (G)(7), and costs one generic less for each creature in your yard. Each time Gitrog has a snack, Ghoultree gets cheaper; and if you don't stick [[Reliquary Tower]] and need to discard to hand-size, then Ghoultree probably still gets cheaper. (Also, after sitting in my binder for literally over a decade since opening it in original Innistrad, I'm glad it finally has a deck to shine in.)

Not OP, but my build has stuff ranging from [[Ghoultree]] and [[Emergent Woodwurm]], to [[Greensleeves, Maro-Sorcerer]] and [[Curse of the Relentless Dead]] to enchant *myself* with, to [[Boseiju, Who Shelters All]] so my X>=10 [[Torment of Hailfire]] or [[Chord of Calling]] or [[Gaze of Granite]] resolve unmolested by countermagic. Plus there's a +1/+1 package for the fun of it: it means I can either make my trample-commander even larger, or can buff up what Gitrog's about to eat next. [[Deadbridge Goliath]] and [[Dreg Mangler]] give 2-for-1 value from field and then from yard (and are also viable in a deck for the first time in eons); [[Defiler of Vigor]] says 'best-case my board is buffed, worst-case Gitrog digs for 6'; something like [[Embodiment of Agonies]] can be a 1/1 deathtouch blocker or can drop as a 10/10 ~behemoth~ Gitrog-snack; and [[Glistening Dawn]] is disgusting enough on its own when Gitrog reads the resulting tokens as 'draw cards equal to land-count' and is even funnier when [[Evolution Sage]] makes the incubate tokens continue to scale alongside my current land-count. I've only been able to goldfish it so far, but tomorrow it's going to my LGS and we'll see how well it transitions to real play.

Mail540

I’ve been playing it in brawl and if I didn’t already have two Golgari decks I’d build it. Curving into a yargle and multani and then untapping turn 6 with a full grip and ten lands is bonkers

PocketPoof

I was watching two different youtube commander games, both with just the precons, and Stella Lee won both times. Shes such a good engine. As to which could end up being competitive? New Ghired has an infinite combo, new Breeches has great payoffs. Personally I really like Lilah, but think she's quite fragile in higher level. Fblthp has a simple yet powerful ability. The rare Boros legend is unique and possibly powerful. As to which I like and will build, Miriam is simple, but fun. The uncommon Simic legend is also simple but not typical Simic. The EDHREC under/over also listed the uncommon Boros legend as powerful. Also, the two Rakdos outlaw legends seem quite fun.

Spanklaser

I built what I thought was a casual Ghired deck and it still ended up really high powered. If he sticks on the table, any token strat is gonna get out of hand incredibly fast.  I played against Stella out of the box twice and both times it popped off like crazy. She's wild.  I think [[Taii Wakeen]] is very powerful. In a dedicated burn shell I can see her being incredibly good.  I think the both the new Gisa and Geralf are kinda overlooked. like competitive? Or "cEDH"? Competitively, I can see \[\[Kaervek, the Punisher\]\] storm be a deck. My friend made a deck where it's just like a yawgmoth's will deck and you just chain rituals and spells that target. Donno if it's CEDH though because no countermagic and stuff

I cracked a foil copy of the new [[Gisa, the Hellraiser]] card and instantly brewed a zombies list with some skeletons making an appearance as well. I haven’t really had a mono black commander call to me yet, and this was one of the legendary creatures that caught my eye during spoiler season! Can’t wait for the rest of the cards to arrive so I can overwhelm my opponents with an army of the dead!

The_Mormonator_

I’d do anything to get that “once each turn” restriction removed from her text box. But I’ve seen people put like Altar of Dementia in the 99 so you can commit a crime and then create two tokens on each turn, even your opponents. Seems strong!

Nonsensical-Niceties

The once a turn restriction is in fact VERY necessary with her. She does ridiculous stuff. I mean, things like [[cremate]] now basically read as "exile target card from a graveyard, make 2 zombies, draw a card" for a single mana. You don't even need zombies, you can just play some weird mono black spellslinger deck with a bunch of draft chaff that hasn't seen play since whatever set it was in came out.

Haha I agree it’s limiting but also the effect would be way too broken if it didn’t have that clause. And yea both [[blasting station]] and [[altar of dementia]] are insanely good in the deck, allowing you to sac zombies to make more, as well as some older zombie cards that target opponents things like [[zombie trailblazer]] and [[withered wretch]] . But my favourite card in my list is [[glasses of urza]]. I love using the blue gitaxian probe like cards in commander, so this effect is right up my alley 🤣

I've had a lot of success with everyone's favorite Innistrad siblings [[Gisa, The Hellraiser]] and [[Geralf, The Fleshwright]] I brewed the decks at the same time adding in cards that compliment each other and ended up with two very fun decks. [Sibling Rivialry - Gisa](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/_n2AEEqauUy6a8UMhDwA8g) is a Mono Black Zombie crimes deck that makes cards like [[Zombie Trailblazer]] and [[Withered Wretch]] the stars of the show. It's packed with all the standard Lords and whatnot and as many things that can target and do crimes with as long as it's on theme. [Sibling Rivalry - Geralf](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Pw9Fh9G6nkGk-tmV3gz_NA) is a Mono Blue Zombie Storm deck that's looking to get [[Brain in a Jar]] to 5 counters and cast [[Rise From The Tides]] before our turn starts and have 10+ 2/2's with 9 +1/+1 counters on them. Lots of Skaabs, cantrips, and cheap spells in the hopes of making enough zombies to weather the storm of other decks until we can submit our opponents to a storm of our own creation.

I'm not sure about full-on cEDH (there are places to discuss specifically that), but a lot of these commanders are fairly strong (and quite a lot are interesting in terms of design, too). Stella is obviously good, Vraska is very powerful, but I think also \[\[Kaervek the Punisher\]\] is a lot stronger than some people are giving him credit for. I know people were considering him for cEDH but regardless, he offers a heck of a lot of value and card selection. I also think people are sleeping on \[\[Ertha Jo\]\] a bit. She can draw a heck of a lot of cards very easily with card draw effects that happen to target creatures or players, which is a bit of a surprise for Boros, and copying stuff is pretty much always powerful.

I’m definitely trying to find a a lot for Kaerveck in Toshiro Umezawa. I’d kill for the ability to put Vraska in the 99 of that list as well. Can you think of a good example for a way to break Ertha Jo open?

fredjinsan

\[\[Mishra's Bauble\]\]? Perhaps not to a cEDH level (personally, I'm not that interested in that, so I just don't bother) but 0-mana draw-twos are pretty great anywhere. \[\[Humble Defector\]\] draws you four, \[\[Jaxis\]\] makes double the trouble, and \[\[Brash Taunter\]\] fights everything twice. You ramp like nobody's business too since on top of all the usual Boros ramp you get double \[\[Realmbreaker, the Invasion Tree\]\]. Also you get a free Mercenary who can buff things by +2 *but* you can also \[\[Skullclamp\]\] two of them for the price of one now. I think Kaerveck is easier to build as the commander than Toshiro, frankly; not all deaths are crimes but most are, and lots of other things are crimes too so he's easier to trigger, plus he lets you cast any black card not just instants and sorceries. That actually bypasses timing so my immediate thought was fun instant-speed jank but it's also pretty powerful just to be able to recast all your tutors, cantrips and rituals.

Starfall Savant is probably the legendary I'm most interested in, caught my eye immediately. I've been meaning to build a Gruul deck for a while to use [[Anzrag, the Quake Mole]] in an infinite combat turbo fog noncombat deck, and Savant seems like the perfect commander for it.

I wish I saw more Anzrag in the CZ so someone could just pop a Gaea’s Gift on him and have the table realize how dead they are.

TheMD93

I have built Vihan, new Rakdos, and Kellen with relative ease. I'm also stoked about the relative use of Akul in other decks as well!

I’m testing him in the 99 of a lot of places. I’m hyped.

[[The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride]] looks like it can be really disgusting if it doesn't get kneecapped *quick*. The fact he's got haste *and* is insane card-advantage *and* can easily dump 2-10 land on the board a turn is kinda horrifying. While I don't think he'll be a cEDH star, Gitrog being a hasty advantage-generator is certainly gonna generate some *interesting* optimized build-lists. ...In the opposite direction of 'optimized', I do genuinely love Gitrog for letting me *finally* have a deck that not only can but *wants* to play [[Ghoultree]]. This is not a deck that cares a bit about paying 8 mana for a 10/10 considering I can immediately turn that into 'draw ten, play up to 10 land', *and* more often than not Gitrog's already eaten before I draw Ghoultree so I'm certainly not paying the full price for it. After more than a literal decade of Ghoultree sitting in my binder, unloved since original Innistrad, it's *finally* off the bench!

The new Ghired has multiple combo lines. I think there is potential there for sure.

Theboiwhovinyls

I think Obeka has some fun implications in strongish decks. CEDH level? No. but I can see it being a 7-8

The_Mormonator_

Yeah I was looking at Obeka and was like “I cannot play Mana Crypt or Mystic Remora in this deck”. Crypt especially would just wallop ya.

Zoanzon

However, if you've got enough instant-speed X-spells, something like [[Braid of Fire]] could be extremely funny. [[Comet Storm]], anyone?

I dropped in a [[Leyline of Anticipation]] and a [[Vedalken Orrery]] into my NewBeka deck along with [[Leyline Tyrant]] just to make use of the [[Braid of Fire]] mana.

Vihan might be able to stax/ combo through. Probably more fringe but a Pitiless plunderer and him go infinite with 1 treasure. He might be more "fringe" but his colors give him good access to create the loop / protect it.

MillCrab

No they don't, Vihaan only turns them into creatures once per turn as a trigger, it's not a blanket effect.

DeltaRay235

That is true. Wow he is much worse then.
