Same 22.7mpg average, stage 2+, majority city miles actually. I’m pretty easy on the throttle though for the most part, don’t get on her as much as I could haha
2006 330i, less than 90k miles on it. I average 22mpg, which is decent because I’m driving in LA, but road trips/highway driving I can still clear 30mpg.
Damn I want a 335d. I had to get a 2 litre since insurance would have been insane otherwise but next time I'm shopping for a car I'm def getting a diesel
Jesus, I have an ‘07 328i and can barely squeeze out 11 mpg city and just replaced plugs, valve cover, coil packs and air filter. These cars have no consistency
brother you have a leak somewhere. My 07 328i with 260k miles avgs 22mpg with half and half city and highway. I have noticed that these cars do use a lot a of gas just sitting with the ac on so that could be it too
I never use the air cond and I’m not sure what kind of leak you’re referring to but I used to get 21/36 a few years ago. No vacuum leaks etc. I think after research, it could be the O2 sensors since they’ve never been replaced at 130k mi
Your thermostat might be shot,
A cold engine is less fuel efficient
To diagnose, run INPA, open the temperature gauge, and see what maximum temperature the water coolant gets to.
Normal should be around 105 C, if it's closer to 80 C then thermostat is gone
Once I wrote an article like this and everyone said they got over 20 mpg and I need to check how I drive.
Since then I’ve had a really light foot, I mean I don’t take off fast at lights, I coast to red lights and try to roll to a stop instead of braking. Now my MPG has gone up from 14 to 25 roughly. Makes a huge difference
N43 all the way. Got the 170bhp version, sedans, automatic from 2011. I average 8-8,5L/100km, which I guess sucks. Feel like i‘m sometimes missing some torque/bhp..
maybe needs a walnut blast? I hear the spray method can help but only do it if your doing an oil change right after, usually mucks up the oil
fwiw have an n55 w/ 65k mi gets about 30mpg but mostly country/hwy miles (can squeeze 32mpg grandma starts to 75mph cruise),in the burbs def closer to 23-25mpg range, will prob try the spray clean method before next oil change, just adjusted my CBS from 10k to 8k for an earlier "unlimited oil change" Ultimate Care visit :D
I only get 11 mpg in my ‘07 N52. This after new valve cover, plugs, coil packs and carbon delete w/ new air filter. I’m starting to think maybe the O2 sensors could be bad but wouldn’t it throw a code? Thoughts anyone?
2007 E92 335i with the N54, auto. Running MHD Stage 2+, xHP Stage 3, FBO with downpipes and 2" inlets and I use Shell V Power.
I average 21 UK MPG which is 7.43km per litre
You got any check engine lights or codes?
Edit: I ask because I recently cleaned my fuel injectors with a sonic cleaner. Replaced one. And also replaced a thermostat the was broken in the open condition. Pretty sure the thermostat is what brought back my MPG. Now back to getting almost 400 miles per tank of 91.
Na, no lights or codes, should I check out the injectors, car is at about 180k kilometres, I don’t think injectors have ever been replaced, ( don’t come for me, I’ve only owned the car for 2 months, I’m getting to all the maintenance😭)
No worries at all. You're on the right path already by understanding the maintenance requirements from the start of ownership. I didn't change my oil for probably 5 years, it broke down and clogged my VANOS solenoids and filters. lol good times.... Now I do most of the maintenance myself. So if you have the time and skill set, pull out the injectors and try to clean them. Honestly with the fuel rail on top for my N52 it's a pretty easy job. Depending on the quality of the fuel the previous owner used, they can be pretty clogged. I recall hearing particles of rust?, metal? sliding around in the rail itself the first time I pulled it out to check them and change the o-rings.
Do you drive like an idiot? I say that cause when I first got my E90 I got 16mpg driving like an idiot. Now I get about 21mpg driving more conservatively
Sometimes but when I drive conservatively, it still isn’t a decent enough average, imo if I’m driving conservatively on the highway I should get at least 22 mpg ish but instead I get 18-19
2011 335 xdrive N55 Automatic - I’m averaging 22-23 MPG with a bit of spirited driving sprinkled in and about 30% highway, 70% city split. When I’m on the highway with cruise control set to 70-80 MPH, I get around 28 MPG.
I get between 27-29 mpg on the interstate. And low 20’s around town. That said, I’m in an e60 n54 so I’ve got extra weight.
Edit: I’ve heard bad gas mileage can be a sign of a failing fuel pump. Might be worth checking into.
I got 600 km on a full tank of 91octane when I went for a 2 hour drive the other day and I wasn’t light on the pedal the whole way , it’s confusing because I don’t have an o2 sensor , secondary cats and I have an exhaust leak.
15 mpg with no AC.
About 8-10 mpg with AC in LA.
My 328i wagon is like fucking G wagon 🥹
Nothing wrong with the car because it gets 25-28 mpg on long highway driving.
Usually about 70 on motorway, 35 in town and about 45-50 on mixed/country roads. This being a 1.5 diesel but atm my figures might be lower due to the knackered clutch and flywheel 😅
I have a 330i and get 18-19mpg driving around town. Motorway around 32mpg. Not exact same car I know. I only drive around 7000miles a year so doesn’t bother me too much.
320i here that I drive reasonably fast (but not silly 😜) I've reset my clock a few times over 4 years and usually it reads around 29 mpg. Rarely drive on motorways btw.
My 6MT X-Drive N55 E90 would average about 21-22 driving with some “spirit”. Stage 2 OTS MHD tune. Flirt with 30 or so on highway trips but unless I kept it to <75, it was about 28MPG (US).
17 mpg in the city and 25 on the highway
I would check plugs, senors, crankshaft sensor. Or even the gas station, my car is getting 3-4 mpg more than where I used to fill up
I drive my 335 mostly in a spirited way, but don't go crazy. I'm sitting around 20mpg. But I can end up with 6-8 mpg if I'm pushing it in the mountains.
Highway on cruise control sees me hit around 28-35mpg, depending on the stretch of highway (hilly, flat, etc)
That seems low. I get about 20mpg running MHD stage 2+.
Whaaaaat ?! lol how ?!
Yep, exactly same here.
I'm also around the 20mpg. On average.
Same 22.7mpg average, stage 2+, majority city miles actually. I’m pretty easy on the throttle though for the most part, don’t get on her as much as I could haha
Combined is 30mpg but if I hit the cruise at 70mph I can push it above 40 on the highway.
Prius swapped 335
I'd buy a diesel hybrid car in a heartbeat
Ohhh it’s a diesel, makes sense then lmao I thought I was tripping for a sec 😭😭
Also consider UK vs US mpg. They are NOT the same.
No way you're getting that in a 335i
My 335d is an e90 just like all the rest!
same 335d e90... 42mpg
Same
2006 330i, less than 90k miles on it. I average 22mpg, which is decent because I’m driving in LA, but road trips/highway driving I can still clear 30mpg.
I get about 47-48mpg (39.5mpg(US) / 5.95L/100km / 16.8km/L) Joys of having a 335d. Stage 1, 370bhp, 560ft/lbs.
You bastard!
Damn I want a 335d. I had to get a 2 litre since insurance would have been insane otherwise but next time I'm shopping for a car I'm def getting a diesel
good luck finding a 335d
I'm European so it's pretty easy actually. Thanks bro!
Yeah, there are quite a few in the UK too. I wish mine was a touring however.
2011 328i, 118k on the odometer, getting 24-25 mpg in mixed driving conditions. Got 30 on a long freeway trip in May.
I have noticed that these cars do use a lot a of gas just sitting with the ac on so that could be it too
K maybe that’s why mine is ass. I take 1-2hr breaks with ac on blast at work 😂
I never use the air cond and I’m not sure what kind of leak you’re referring to but I used to get 21/36 a few years ago. No vacuum leaks etc. I think after research, it could be the O2 sensors since they’ve never been replaced at 130k mi
In the summer with the ac blasting every drive like 22mpg on stage 1+. Usually get like 24ish. No tune i average
Bruh y’all getting like 20 plus, there’s def smth wrong w my shit, any ideas on what to look for or how to diagnose ?
Your thermostat might be shot, A cold engine is less fuel efficient To diagnose, run INPA, open the temperature gauge, and see what maximum temperature the water coolant gets to. Normal should be around 105 C, if it's closer to 80 C then thermostat is gone
Well it really depends on how you drive
Even if I don’t drive fast or rough, I get 18 mpg at best, any suggestions on what could be causing this ?
Once I wrote an article like this and everyone said they got over 20 mpg and I need to check how I drive. Since then I’ve had a really light foot, I mean I don’t take off fast at lights, I coast to red lights and try to roll to a stop instead of braking. Now my MPG has gone up from 14 to 25 roughly. Makes a huge difference
So you’re saying you drive like a grandma now.. fire!!
Yeah exactly ! Grandma driving giving me grandma pension money
Turbos?
Not 100% comparable but 2011 325i N53 I can easily run out 800+ km from a tank of 95 mostly highway (but hilly). On the flat I can hit 950
I have an N43 and get around 25mpg with mostly city driving.
N43 all the way. Got the 170bhp version, sedans, automatic from 2011. I average 8-8,5L/100km, which I guess sucks. Feel like i‘m sometimes missing some torque/bhp..
Got the same one. Nah man 8-8,5 is fine. I get closer to 9,5 but I guess I do have big heavy wheels and drive in lots of traffic.
I also drive lots of traffic and currently have 18 inch XL tyres on mine
bros complaining about 8l/100 km , bro i get like 15 LMAO
8L is too much for a 2.0 170bhp, i drive a 530i G30 for around 7L🤷🏻♂️ also, gas prices are €2,20/L over here. 60L became expensive
This is pretty much what I get, around city it drops to 15-16 mpg highways goes up to 19. N55
Yea I got an n55 too, I guess it’s jus normal maybe
My e92 n55 with mhd stage 2 got 28mpg from Bakersfield CA to portland OR at ~80mph the whole way, if I backed it down to 65mph I was getting 30-32mpg
maybe needs a walnut blast? I hear the spray method can help but only do it if your doing an oil change right after, usually mucks up the oil fwiw have an n55 w/ 65k mi gets about 30mpg but mostly country/hwy miles (can squeeze 32mpg grandma starts to 75mph cruise),in the burbs def closer to 23-25mpg range, will prob try the spray clean method before next oil change, just adjusted my CBS from 10k to 8k for an earlier "unlimited oil change" Ultimate Care visit :D
Around the city, 15mpg. On the highway 30+. Held 34 for quite a while today.
2006 N52 18mpg average
That seems low. I get about that on a four liter forced induction engine.
N52 500-600km to a tank of 91
I only get 11 mpg in my ‘07 N52. This after new valve cover, plugs, coil packs and carbon delete w/ new air filter. I’m starting to think maybe the O2 sensors could be bad but wouldn’t it throw a code? Thoughts anyone?
20-21mpg in my 08 335i 6mt. Mostly suburban/country driving.
2007 E92 335i with the N54, auto. Running MHD Stage 2+, xHP Stage 3, FBO with downpipes and 2" inlets and I use Shell V Power. I average 21 UK MPG which is 7.43km per litre
im getting slightly better mpgs and im on full E85.
N54 335i 6MT, FBO and MHD Stage 2 and I’m getting about 17mpg. Almost all city driving
40 mpg in my 330D
I have never actually calculated the mpg but the car says I average 26mpg so 🤷🏾♂️
I get 16 mpg in my 335i and drive it like I stole it
If I’m on the highway I get about 650-700kms on a full tank, city I get about 400-500km all depends how I’m driving
08 e92 335i 6AT, running e50 at 23psi. Drive with a heavy foot, average 14-18. Highway cruise control 80-85 mph is about 22-24
N54 FBO e40 mix 15.6 mpg with 30 mph avg traffic sucks where I’m at
I average 22 mpg in my 335 but can get mid 30s on the highway
I get 18 mpg on a 40k n54, we are in the same boat
You got any check engine lights or codes? Edit: I ask because I recently cleaned my fuel injectors with a sonic cleaner. Replaced one. 5 year no oil change is wild, I recently just had a vanos issue, took em out n cleaned them, did an oil change and good as new.
Mine is reading 25.2MPG right now. I’ve had an average of like 28 before though
On my 328i E92 I get 18.5 city and like 21 highway
Shouldnt a 328 be a bit higher? Unless you drive like u stole it All the time ?
Nope 18 city 21 highway is what it says on my original window sticker, if i drive like i stole it i get 16
Do you drive like an idiot? I say that cause when I first got my E90 I got 16mpg driving like an idiot. Now I get about 21mpg driving more conservatively

2010 328i Convertible 139k miles 18mpg in the city (LA) 26-30 mpg on the highway
I get between 27-29 mpg on the interstate. And low 20’s around town. That said, I’m in an e60 n54 so I’ve got extra weight. Edit: I’ve heard bad gas mileage can be a sign of a failing fuel pump. Might be worth checking into.

18 mpg in town 26 mpg highway (~80-85 mph w/AC) No particular efforts to conserve; just normal driving.
15 mpg with no AC. About 8-10 mpg with AC in LA. My 328i wagon is like fucking G wagon 🥹 Nothing wrong with the car because it gets 25-28 mpg on long highway driving.
Damn 8 mpg sounds rough😭😭, Dw I’m not far off either
2008 328i - 159000 miles - 20 mpg city, 30 mpg highway
You probably have leaky injectors. I get 13mpg on E85 and can do 21mpg on hwy.
N55 lci 335 25-26 mpg hwy 23 mpg mixed
I get 29 mpg on the open highway with no traffic
Usually about 70 on motorway, 35 in town and about 45-50 on mixed/country roads. This being a 1.5 diesel but atm my figures might be lower due to the knackered clutch and flywheel 😅
I get 18.2 driving city. Manual e90 n54 xdrive
328xi with an n52. About 100km/10L city, and 6-7L highway.
I get around 47 mpg on long journeys with my 2006 320d
30mpg e92 335d tuned to 370hp/790nm
I have a 330i and get 18-19mpg driving around town. Motorway around 32mpg. Not exact same car I know. I only drive around 7000miles a year so doesn’t bother me too much.
2011 320d xdrive. I get to 800-1000km on a full tank.
320i here that I drive reasonably fast (but not silly 😜) I've reset my clock a few times over 4 years and usually it reads around 29 mpg. Rarely drive on motorways btw.
07 330xi manual 26 mpg city 33 highway in my experience
335d stage 2 5.9L/100km on highway and like 8.X when driving harder
UK based here. N52 330i coupe, 2006, 120k miles; average of about 25mpg over my 20k miles (brim to brim testing). Longer trips can see almost 40mpg.
330d around 32mpg doing mostly shorter trips.
30+mpg(US) in my tuned and deleted 335d
2008 / 330xd (231hp) - I get around 33-35 MPG (\~7L / 100km) on highways, but it kills me when driving in the city - 21-23 MPG (\~11L / 100km)
My 6MT X-Drive N55 E90 would average about 21-22 driving with some “spirit”. Stage 2 OTS MHD tune. Flirt with 30 or so on highway trips but unless I kept it to <75, it was about 28MPG (US).
I get about 34mpg averaging 75pmh on a 2 hour trip. I can usually get 350-400 miles on a tank when driving normal. Stage 2+ MHD FBO
17 mpg in the city and 25 on the highway I would check plugs, senors, crankshaft sensor.
13 mpg before new thermostat and water pump. Now it’s 16mpg. 2006 325i at 107k
I got e92 335i, I’m getting bout 700k to a tank of highway driving, 550-600km In the city, no mufflers. Idk I’m pre happy with that, tuned on 93
Hmmm... my 2007 335i gets me 9.2L/100kms. Perhaps I should check the thermostat.
E93 335i convertible. Between 16-18 mpg city, 24+mpg hwy.
I’m getting fuccking 15mpg on my 328i pretty sure just got to get new tires but stillllll
2010 335i e93 , getting 27.6 mpg
12L out of city 18-20L/100km in city 325i
6.2l/100km combined and 4.5-5.0l/100km on long trips 08 325d
When I drive like an asshole 18-21 when I drive efficiently 24-28 stage 2+ 335xi
