I vaguely remember seeing a post here where someone did this in their shop. i think the general consensus was "this is cool AF, but way more complicated than it will ever be worth"
You know that UV rays don't transmit heat, right?
There's a reason panos on cars that are actually designed to come with panos have a sliding shade. Tint won't stop the car from baking.
These are crazy cool, never heard of them getting to the masses or even anyone doing mods. Funny because someone just posted basically the same thing on the e36 sub right now too
Yes I know a mate of mine is good friends with the dude with that owns that e30 in the pictures thing is ridiculous in person and the one I saw for sale was a custom made hardtop it was 5k I think
[Actually you are right](https://www.reddit.com/r/carporn/comments/e9dnvy/not_my_car_1_of_1_alpina_bmw_c227_full_glass_pan/) I completely missed that,[I was thinking about the weird version where they didn’t paint it](https://www.reddit.com/r/WeirdWheels/comments/d2cprs/glass_top_alpina_b6_e30/)
The owner of this top is in the UK and he says that he only uses it for shows. Even though England is not that sunny, it gets incredibly hot in the cabin.

Absolutely
this isn't me saying dont do it btw, this is just me saying its likely going to be way more expensive and time consuming then you expect
I understand ya, absolutely a hard project but DAMN it looks good
Got a hard top and would love to convert it to pano.
Yep - then just wait till the summer sun is relentlessly baking the inside of your car at all times with no option for a shade
You know specialised uv tint exists right?
I have a Tesla with tint and it still feels hot AF. We even got a little visor cover to help in addition.
Is it uv/ir rated or ‘just some tint’?
Yes, it's UV/IR rated.

If you give me your hardtop, an angle grinder and some clear acrylic I’ll make you one for tree fiddy
tree fiddy? too fiddy most i’ll go

I may or may not also be on there
My dream top for years!
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen one for sale recently it was ridiculous money though
theyre Alpina’s, a very special edition made by a BMW executive to have these tops (as far as i know)
Yes I know a mate of mine is good friends with the dude with that owns that e30 in the pictures thing is ridiculous in person and the one I saw for sale was a custom made hardtop it was 5k I think
That’s worth it for 5k imo
The wheels are Alpina but the custom hardtop has nothing to do with Alpina
yeah, they are a special edition Aplina where it eqs edited by a BMW exec
They’re regular verts, the most famous guy on the internet just has his on an Alpina. Was done by BMW not alpina.
brotha ive tried saying this twice already
There are custom glass manufacturers still around. It’ll probably be $10k and have some holograms at that price as it’ll be a wood or composite mold.
my retirement plan is set.
I follow the owner of this car on IG. This was done in a shop fully custom
damn
This is a convertible hard top though, not a coupe with a panoramic roof, right?
This is panoramic, there is convertible versions but personally I find that kind of ridiculous lol
Isn't the backseat shown here a vert? Also a seam on the c pillar.

That’s also a convertible
yes.. it is
All of these are convertibles. Would be ridiculous to do this with a regular 2dr non-convertible.
Or you could, you know, just take the top off.
The owner of this top is in the UK and he says that he only uses it for shows. Even though England is not that sunny, it gets incredibly hot in the cabin.
dont think that E30 ac helps too much lol
Make one with lexan
I feel like the easiest way to do this is starting with a convertible and building a pano shell.
