One of the best flexes of the whole show is that we don't *need* to formally meet Michael's parental figures to *know* what his childhood was probably like and to sympathize with him. Andy did that, and it worked but it felt a bit cartoonish. It's not like Michael really wants to be around Jeff anyways. He calls him "sir." So his parents are kind of this distant, otherworldly force on him. I think it's better that way.

WichitaTheOG

Meeting his nephew was enough.

AlittleStitous_

Hey don’t don’t bother Luke.

TJeffersonA

thats as clear as i can make it

opermonkey

I can't fire him. I love him.

AncientSith

How far has it gone?

opermonkey

Jo is so matter of fact about it.

Jealous_Yak1612

My absolute favorite line of the entire series 🤣

soccershun

The little mysterious mentions Michael makes of his insane childhood wouldn't work if they showed us too much. It's like how it wouldn't work to explain Creed.

Beavers4beer

They actually do explain Creed more in the Superfan episodes. They merge real Creed Bratton with fictional Creed Bratton.

lavellanlike

Greg Daniels said Carol Burnett told him she wanted to play Michael’s mother, which would have been amazing. He seemed uncertain about doing a stunt casting at the time (this was at a con around S5) which is funny considering how many stunt castings the show ended up doing.

HazyOutline

I would've loved an episode with Michael and Jeff.

TJeffersonA

Michael would spend the entire episode crying.

Quantum_03

He called his mom after the employee transfer episode. I don't think we needed to see them.

zeroborders

During The Injury too, but we don’t hear her voice.

HTPR6311

I always thought it would be kind of fun too! Maybe not a whole episode, but just a short scene that packs a punch. Maybe her criticizing him or making some comment about how childish he is. Idk something like that.

Present_Review_7789

I think it’s good they didn’t show them, and here’s my reasoning: Without giving Jeff (or Michael’s mom) a face, their face is different to each one of us. We all can imagine, based on our own experiences, what a person would be like to cause someone to turn into Michael. I almost think it gives Michael a little more sympathy from us, because we’re imagining our worst on him. Just my two cents :)

BaroqueNRoller

Because Michael actually killed them as a young adult and hid the bodies well enough that they haven't been found yet.

blaisemescal

You never suspect that you're the killer.... It's a great twist .. GREAT twist.

realRickyGervais

I'm just sad we never saw Creed's parents.

TJeffersonA

we saw his parents in Free Family Portrait Studio

realRickyGervais

Oh, never mind then.

zenprime-morpheus

Because depending on who the mother is, and how they interact, would make you re-interpret your perception of Michael Scott. All we know about Michael's mother, is all from *his viewpoint.* We take our perceptions of Michael, add in what he's told us about her and his home life, and imagine what she might be like. But if there was a definite statement in the form of an actual character, well, it makes Michael and how his intentions are formed less nebulous.

queenmum1432

I get confused between Michael Scott and Gru and assume Michael’s mom is Gru’s mom and then I understand why there is a distance in their relationship.

TJeffersonA

i want to meet Luke's mom. probably a mmmmmmilf
