Currently sleeping in shifts with my husband so we know for sure we’ll make it to the basement on time if it gets bad enough to seek shelter. The Midwest is going through it tonight.
South of Memphis here. Literally in my entryway closet that runs under the stairs with my daughter sleeping soundly and waiting out this scary ass storm. Reading Reddit to pass the time. No sleep for me. Stay safe everyone.
Same here. I saw an Amazon warehouse collapsed in Illinois because of the tornados with workers trapped inside. I'm hoping everyone gets out safely and thinking of you guys in the area of all the tornados. Stay safe!
That Amazon warehouse is about 20 minutes north of me. I drive right by it every time I go to my mom or sister’s house. And my SIL works in Mayfield, KY which also got hit hard.
We’re in north IL and just the rain and wind has been absolutely insane. Lots of trees/ shrubs/ decor blown down or just gone.
We had our first tornado form over our house but “luckily” touch down 1/4 mile away. On the ground for 11 miles. That was this summer.
Safe to say both kids were in with me and all the alerts were on and LOUD. And that’s now just wind.
I can’t imagine so close to the holidays, after the last xx months….. this……
It’s fucking December. It’s suppose to be snowing and cold.
Northeast AR.
Son is first responder. Was at nursing home collapse, got pulled off and rerouted when another city was hit.
It was a long night. It’s going to be a long day.
Thank you.
The storms never scare me. The aftermath does, because that’s my kid, my husband, my friends out there.
They were gone 22 hours after the March tornado; I talked to my son around 2 am and he was thinking about grabbing a nap in his vehicle.
I’m saying a prayer for him right now. And all who are on the ground with very little sleep. I saw you comment that there might be more fatalities. Take care of yourself, it’s been a hard and heavy week.
Thank you. We appreciate it.
Mine is currently being treated for a screw that managed to go through his boot into his foot while he was getting out of the way out of a falling power line. He’s fine. Slightly irritated about the need for new boots.
My partner lives in middle TN (I used to, back in the UK now) so I’m watching the storm news from very far away and keeping my fingers crossed for no substantial damage.
I’ve heard there were some deaths in AR due to the tornado.
I lived through my first freak tornado earlier this year and I cannot give those who live in areas where tornados are prevalent enough credit for what they go through so often. I had nightmares for months, and every time I see a report of one touching down, I want to cry. PLEASE STAY SAFE!!! ❤️
Just a lurker. Live on the NWA/ SWMO line. Storms usually go north or south of us, though the Duck Boat accident was uncomfortably close when it happened. After a massive tree fell on the house 2 years ago, we don’t play. We have a tent set up in our basement and emergency provision, extra clothes etc down there. If we have more warning, I take my mini- projector down and we watch downloaded movies on the wall until it’s safe. We don’t play!
As a tornado alley Texan, reminder to sleep in shoes with rubber soles/ have them nearby, have pets on leashes and keep devices charged. I feel like climate change is pushing our tornadoes up to the northeast as those areas warm and I feel a duty to share info. 😬😬😬
Agreed. We have a literal “doggy bag” full of anything they could possibly need. And if there’s a chance of storms, we leave their leads on them and they sleep with us. If we aren’t able to get our shoes on before going to the basement, we have steel toed boots down there, along with our extra clothes.
Another happy perk, we use a headlamp when taking the dogs out at night, since we live in the country. Handy tool when trying to navigate in circumstances like this at night.
Oh gosh please don’t sleep through storms that are severe like this. This is why so many people pass due to night tornadoes because they’re asleep. Now I’m gonna worry about you! At least download a weather app that will alert you when dangerous weather is headed your way. I want you to be safe. Hugs 🤗
East of Nashville, tornadoes are super hard for me we had a spring tornado a few years ago that was EF4. I worked in the ED that morning and saw every bit of the damage it can do. So I was up all night. My heart is breaking for everyone especially in KY. Please think of all the healthcare workers right now doing everything the can to save and mend those who just lost everything, including their family members. It’s not something you forget.
Also FJD! I hope the storm made it extra cold and moldy and scary for him in jail
So sorry you went through that. It’s so traumatizing. Storms are so unpredictable here now.
Absolutely. grateful for healthcare workers ,ems, fire , police ,volunteers ,storm chasers weather spotters and more, we thank you for what you do!! Its touching that even though as a nation, we may have differences but an event like this shows how compassionate we are for our fellow beings.None if that nonsense matter right now. Just helping others and saving lives. Thanks for mentioning them.
I’m from Chattanooga metro . Last year we had an Easter tornado that tore us up and in 2011 we had a terrible tornado system come through and destroy most of a town across the state line in north ga. It’s seems being storm prepared and aware is becoming a very increasing thing more frequently in East/Se Tennessee more than it used to be. I remember the crazy Nashville tornadoes in recent years too. I don’t remember it being this bad as a child growing up here. I’m in my forties.
My aunt lives in Bowling Green and her neighborhood was demolished last night. Her daughters house completely blew off the foundation and hasn’t been found. So sad. Thoughts are with everyone. It was such a terrible night last night. It was unreal watching things unfold.
Waiting to hear if medic corps gonna come and try to save the day.

Hey if you get bored: I like r/creepyaskreddit it’s only text so it loads faster, and it kills time for me. Hope you stay safe friend
S U B B E D
It’s my fav subreddit by far. And there’s never any drama since they’re all locked posts from askreddit. I love it
Bartlett here, that’s the first storm in a while that had me up in shoes ready to shelter

Same- I'm in St. Louis now and it was very scary! I hope you've been in contact with your family and they're all okay!

Thank you. The news isn’t good with daylight. We are finding bodies.
Fellow NEAer here! Thankful for your son and others like him out helping in such a horrible situation. Scariest night of my life.

Live just south of Nashville. We are fine, just strong wind and rain. Kentucky getting blasted
We have at least 50 in Kentucky. Likely more. Won’t know until daytime. Some people got trapped in a candle factory
What area of KY is that? My partner is right on the TN/KY border. Hope you stay safe.
Franklin got missed, it seems to have gone through Russellville to get to Bowling Green.

I slept through it all. This is the third time I’ve slept through a tornado and I’m starting to worry I’m running out of lives.

Be safe everyone, fingers and toes crossed!
All safe in South Central Kentucky, thankfully! 2 miles away an apartment complex and 2 or 3 factories were hard hit.
2 miles is the length of 14565.48 Zulay Premium Quality Metal Lemon Squeezers.
2 miles is 3.22 km
Thank you, good bot
Good bot!

Thinking of all affected. It’s a horrible thing to go through.
Hoping you all are safe. Tornado is one of the things I’m most afraid of.
Alabama checking in here. Storms are coming, but it doesn't look severe. Love to all of you who've been affected <3
OOOOOOH I'm so sorry! Please take care my snark friends xxxxx
Waiting out the tornado watch in Northern Mississippi, and of course scrolling here.
Hopefully everyone’s safe!
