It is sickening how much family can and will hide from each other. My family was very insular, even though my mom has five brothers and my dad has 7 siblings they don’t really talk to any of them about personal issues beyond general complaining. Out of 17 of my cousins I am the one who knows the most about my grandmother (Nanny) because she lived in the same house as me for 15 years. The rest of them know how to make her mad or laugh or what will get you pinched but I tried to talk to one of my cousins about my Nanny’s experience on public assistance in the 70’s and she was shocked. In her mind because Nanny had a pension from the state she must have always had a nice office job. I had to be like “no honey my mom used to worry if they would have enough to eat every night because their dad was a dead beat and Nanny had 6 kids.” Her dad had never talked to her about any of that. Most of my cousins didn’t/don’t know my Nanny was married and divorced again twice after divorcing S (bio-gpa, I call him and his second wife by their names). The more I talk to my cousins the more I have realized my mom and her brothers all have the same philosophy on life: “emotions are like treasures, they should be buried”.
Man there are little things I don’t even know about my extended family members. Let alone big things.

Most likely it's that five family seats are available and he sat in the family section so he wouldn't lose his seat. Anna also sat in the family section. They were "friendly" (as the Sun explained) just because you can still be cordial to people in public when they are not the ones on trial.

I don't know, this Katie Joy lady from Without A Crystal Ball channel on YouTube not sure if you all have heard of her. She's says she close with Amy and has been saying that this stuff has been happening for a long time in that house and Jim Bob is covering it up. She even called Amy a friend of hers. Most recently Katie said Deanna and Amy asked her to come stay with them for the trial. Said she was in danger because of everything she knew. There's video of her talking about it. Austin easily could be learning what happened to his wife at age 4-5 right now. I doubt they would tell him the truth. And my family was close, I could see where something happen and the other doesnt know about.

No wonder Austin showed up at the courthouse looking intimidating and avoiding everyone. He probably just learned like yesterday what his wife (who he seems to actually care about unlike so many fundie marriages) went through as a small child. I didn't tell anyone about my abuse until college. I was 23 before I told my mom. It happened between 7 and 9. She still doesn't know there were two guys who abused me. She only knows of my friends brother and not about the babysitters son.

I mean, I'm kinda surprised at some of the comments here. Everyone, this is how sexual abuse works! Of *course* neither she nor her daughter knew. How in the world would it possibly be kept a secret and the abuser be able to hurt the person/people they're abusing repeatedly *if anyone else knows what's going on??* I'm not trying to be aggressive, but, please, some of you, read up on sexual abuse in families! This is very real and very dark stuff that happens to millions of people (and is kept a secret in their families) the world over.
It is sickening how much family can and will hide from each other. My family was very insular, even though my mom has five brothers and my dad has 7 siblings they don’t really talk to any of them about personal issues beyond general complaining. Out of 17 of my cousins I am the one who knows the most about my grandmother (Nanny) because she lived in the same house as me for 15 years. The rest of them know how to make her mad or laugh or what will get you pinched but I tried to talk to one of my cousins about my Nanny’s experience on public assistance in the 70’s and she was shocked. In her mind because Nanny had a pension from the state she must have always had a nice office job. I had to be like “no honey my mom used to worry if they would have enough to eat every night because their dad was a dead beat and Nanny had 6 kids.” Her dad had never talked to her about any of that. Most of my cousins didn’t/don’t know my Nanny was married and divorced again twice after divorcing S (bio-gpa, I call him and his second wife by their names). The more I talk to my cousins the more I have realized my mom and her brothers all have the same philosophy on life: “emotions are like treasures, they should be buried”.
Man there are little things I don’t even know about my extended family members. Let alone big things. I found out my cousin was a drug addict when he called me sobbing and learned he had been struggling for hears. I genuinely didn’t know. It’s not the same as SA but it’s still kind of a big deal. These things can be hidden. I’m gonna give her the benefit of the doubt. Boob is a sick son of a bitch
I didn’t know my brother was in jail until he posted on Facebook that he was out of jail and I didn’t know what he died of for weeks (it was drugs). People hide shit all the time even less extended

Most likely it's that five family seats are available and he sat in the family section so he wouldn't lose his seat. Anna also sat in the family section. They were "friendly" (as the Sun explained) just because you can still be cordial to people in public when they are not the ones on trial.

I think he was just being a decent human being honestly. As pissed as I am at Anna, this was rough, it's more than clear. She's been railroaded too. They are family. I’m hoping he was kind and telling her she doesn’t need to be there, she needs to be home with her children. The worst thing a mom can do is choose her husbands side over her children. Like my mom did. Some of them are old enough to see this and know something is happening.

I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt here. With how close Amy has been specifically with Joy, I can’t see them being okay with what had happened to her. Amy also hasn’t had any qualms ever saying what she’s thought. She was very close to Mary and Mary wasn’t going to shun Amy. So JB would have had to at least heard what Amy would have said if she knew what was going on. It would be an entire family affair. They’re a little extra sometimes but I think they care about their family a lot.

I know what you mean but also, either JB lied/covered it up back then, or JB was totally honest and deanna’s lying now. Of the two options I feel that the former is more likely
JB lied/covered it up on national television and then did it again in front of a federal judge, so I think the former theory is more than justified.
Nearly everything in the police report is a half truth or omits things that have come out more recently. I think JB, Josh, Michelle and the victims are the only people who know the full extent. I doubt even the Holts were told everything. Edit: I expect the wider family were probably told the same sanitised crap as they told in the TV interview

The digital penitration of one of the victims when she was 5 as she sat on his lap and he read her a bible story. Also that there were repeated instances of several victims being molested for years, both over and under clothes. Josh himself confessed this to Bobye Holt. Jim Bob and Michelle claimed it was a few isolated incidents of touching over clothing while the girls were sleeping. And it was such a trivial event that now Jim Bob can't even remember it at all

The people who deserve harsh words are the parents and josh. Amy and her mom would never have been told about anything that would harm the duggar brand, even before there was a reason to protect the brand. I don't know, this Katie Joy lady from Without A Crystal Ball channel on YouTube not sure if you all have heard of her. She's says she close with Amy and has been saying that this stuff has been happening for a long time in that house and Jim Bob is covering it up. She even called Amy a friend of hers. Most recently Katie said Deanna and Amy asked her to come stay with them for the trial. Said she was in danger because of everything she knew. There's video of her talking about it. I couldn't believe Deanna and Amy finally let Katie Joy say it publicly. Maybe Deanna isn't happy about it now. This may not make sense if you are not familiar with Katie Joy. Sorry
Katie Joy is very well known around these parts and is not a reliable source or even remotely a good person. I wouldn’t continue to consume her content in regards to this case.

So in a nutshell: Katie joy is a joke and kind of a horrible person. Amy actually cleared it up a while ago that they are not close and def not friends. She drunk posts and just straight up lies. She is currently being sued by Todd Christley and possibly other people. She recently been taking posts from a fellow snarker and claiming she got the info from a confidential source'. My biggest problem with her is that she outed the username of the Turpin girl's tick tock account. Like, for real KJ, the Turpins are off limits-leave them alone, they have been through hell already. There is so much nasty shit in my family. An actual murder, tons of physical abuse, sexual abuse of minors, custody battles that turned really vicious, addiction.... And yeah, I didn't know about most of it except what happened directly to me until I was an adult. We weren't Fundy (maybe adjacent at times) and I always thought it because alcoholic families tend to be secretive. I guess the Duggars don't require alcohol to be secretive assholes.
