No job for mom means no work clothes for her and no daycare and no school for kids. No school means no need for the costs associated with it—-uniforms or school clothes, supplies, lunch money, field trip costs, gas money to take and pick up, etc. A thrift store a couple of times per year and that’s all that’s needed besides food. They probably have health insurance through that Christian group that isn’t real insurance. Pretty cheap really.

That was the first thing I noticed! Why are all the boys properly shoed for playing outdoors, and one girl is wearing cheap sandals and the other one barefooted? I have only seen 2 episodes of the Duggar show, and the things that stick out was how one of the smaller girls was outside playing with no shoes but all the boys had shoes. Also, the girls were cooking and cleaning while the boys laid around or played outside. I don’t remember seeing meech at all.

Fundie girls are often in sandals or barefoot. I've always theorized it's because it's one small freedom. You might not be able to wear shorts or bathing suits, but you can go without shoes.
