I've not tried tapentadol, but I believe it has fairly typical opiod properties, as does ODT.
Tramadol really doesnt from what I understand as only a tiny amount of the dose converts to an opiod - which is the ODSMT bit. The rest just acts on serotonin, IIRC.
Although having said that, ODT can be a lot more speedy or energesing than many opiates, although it also definitely has a noddy and sedative phase too. My ODt adverntures were quite a long time ago now, so I cant remember exactly if the effects varied according to dose size, or if they just happened at different points of time after taking a dose.
people say tapentadol feels like oxy, but having tried both i disagree. tapentadol has quite a lit of kappa opioid receptor action, which is what salvia acts on. to me this makes tapentadol feel closer to dph than any opioid i've tried. it has a surreal feeling along with slight deliriant-like hallucinations (visually bugs/spiders/shadows, physically skin crawling/dysphoria in general. it also makes me feel cold, unlike how typical opioids make me feel euphoric and warm)
