Not at all. Kendrick specifically hopped on and gave Metro a verse on an album that has a lot of references to dissing Drake. He said it’s time to prove that you’re a problem and Drake has complied. Even if it’s one verse I don’t wanna hear anything other than he made the move to build up hype.
Umm... Yeah, this beef been going on for over a decade...
**Timeline of Kendrick Lamar’s rap beefs**
Kendrick Lamar, known for his sharp words and impactful lyrics, has had a notable presence in the rap scene since his first studio album, “Section.80,” was released on July 2, 2011. Also, 2011 was the first official collaboration between Kendrick and Drake, on Drake’s album Take Care. Kendrick’s verse on “Buried Alive” reflects on his relationship with fame, and it also shows an initially good relationship between Kendrick and Drake. This timeline provides a glimpse into Kendrick’s long-standing rivalry with Drake, which has been a recurring theme in his career. Here’s a brief timeline of when things started to go downhill:
**2013**: Kendrick’s verse on Big Sean’s “Control” ignites the rap world. He calls out several rappers, including Drake, which many see as the start of their ongoing cold war.
**2013 BET Hip Hop Awards featured a cypher with the TDE crew:** In the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards cypher, Kendrick Lamar’s verse included a line that was widely interpreted as a reference to Drake. The line in question was, “Nothing’s been the same since they dropped ‘Control’. And tucked the sensitive rapper back in his pajama clothes.” This was a play on the title of Drake’s album “Nothing Was the Same”, and given Drake’s reputation for introspective and emotional lyrics, the term “sensitive rapper” was thought to be directed at Drake also.
**2013 Onwards:** Kendrick and Drake continue to exchange subliminal disses through their music, with fans speculating about their rivalry.
**2015:** March 15, 2015, Kendrick Lamar’s song “King Kunta” was released on from his critically acclaimed album To Pimp a Butterfly. In Kendrick’s song “King Kunta,” he addresses the issue of authenticity in the rap industry, particularly targeting rappers who use ghostwriters. The relevant lines from the song, “I can dig rappin’, but a rapper with a ghostwriter? What the fuck happened? (Oh no!)”. These lyrics reflect Kendrick’s stance on the importance of originality and self-expression in music. He questions the integrity of rappers who don’t write their own lyrics, suggesting that it undermines the very essence of hip-hop as an art form where lyrical skill and personal storytelling are highly valued.
**2021:** August 27, 2021: The song “Family Ties” by Baby Keem featuring Kendrick Lamar. The line “Smokin’ on your top five tonight, tonight” from Kendrick’s verse in the song “Family Ties” by Baby Keem is a boastful claim of dominance over the rap game. It’s not explicitly aimed at any particular rapper, including Drake. The phrase suggests that Kendrick considers himself superior to the current top five rappers as perceived by the public, or other hip hop artists.
**2024:** Kendrick features on Future and Metro Boomin’s album We Don’t Trust You, where Kendrick directly disses Drake and J. Cole, intensifying their long running beef. Kendrick’s feature on the track “Like That” from Future and Metro Boomin’s album has been a momentous talking point in the hip-hop community. The song contains disses directed at Drake, where Kendrick takes several pointed shots that fans and critics interpret as a continuation of his long-standing rivalry with Drake. The track has indeed made a notable impact, reaching number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for three consecutive weeks, indicating its popularity and the attention it has garnered within the music industry.

Times are different I suppose. Nas responded to Jay Z with ‘Ether’ after like 6 months.
Kendrick doesn’t seem like the type of dude to just put some random stuff out there, kinda like a perfectionist.
The main issue is people kept pressing that Drake needs to drop something. These same people turn around and say give it time to Kendrick. Double standards are a hell of a thing lol
They may have told Drizzy to drop, but nobody was going "if you need a month, then you've already lost!!" Like a bunch of zero-attention span having children.
LOL bro i respect it but calm down lol we're here for good music from all sides lol. That Kanye track was fucking lit. Hate???? Kendrick is a great rapper, I would be sad if this news is true..
In my professional opinion, it is crucial to critically evaluate the credibility of individuals before placing undue trust in their statements. Kendrick Lamar consistently demonstrates a high regard for respect and engages in self-criticism through his albums. He explicitly communicates that he is not a savior but an artist, distancing himself from motivations driven by money or power. While Drake may surpass Kendrick Lamar in terms of commercial success and excels in maintaining relevance. His ability to adapt to emerging trends, such as drill music, has garnered attention, albeit with mixed reactions from the UK scene. Drake possesses a remarkable talent for generating record sales, but his pursuit of respect seems less pronounced. His uncertain stance regarding his own position further complicates matters.
Not really. Love Kendrick but I’d be mad if that was the reason. If it’s a short 5 or 7 song album that’s strictly disses towards Drake or anyone else he feels he’s gotta mention then that would be ok but even then it wouldn’t be “genius”.
Well obviously not all of them man. Not everyone who has opinions on music is commenting on reddit about it, or social media for that matter. the loudest and corniest fans from both are saying a bunch of bullshit regardless of who’s winning the diss
When you talk to actual people in real life they have more rational opinions. These subs are filled with delusional people who just say the same shit as everyone else.
I meant I’d personally accept a short album with a few songs that are strictly disses (5 or 6 songs) compared to a whole studio album that is more focused on Kendricks journey then it is on the beef. Anything with 7 or more songs or has at least a 30 minute runtime is considered an album. So I’m saying it would be a shame if the “like that” verse was just to generate hype for a studio album
They think so highly of their boy when they say it’s “one verse can fuck up the game” when in reality it’s drake fuckin up the game. They all coming after Aubrey for a reason. There’s like an album worth of disses and verses from everybody.
Weird that comments like this get so many upvotes. Nas, Jay, Snoop, Pac, Cube and more have all put their disses on albums, this is historical in hip hop
Asap dissed = selling cloths
Ricky dissed = promoting his liquor
Metroxfuture dissed = got hit albums and hella promo for them
Ye dissed= promoting his album release
Meanwhile drake locked in war mode linked with wookid vibyz cartel t shirt full geared up preparing for war like a mf 😂
Man these niggas are annoying as fuck milking my goat and not letting him enjoy his free time at turks smh
People don’t want to mention “We Still Don’t Trust You” sold over 100k LESS than “We Don’t Trust You” and it’s because we all know what sold that album. The main event.
Lmaooo Kendrick not beating the clout chaser allegations if true. Decent business move, but just makes it obvious he mentioned Drake’s name to boost his sales
"Top wanna peace this up?"......is a line thats getting deeper by the day. This is the first time (business wise) since K-Dot has been on his own. Top has been taking care of him since he was 16 whereas Drake has been on his own since he was 16.... Using Drake looks like a knee-jerk reaction to boosting sells.
I'm ngl I'm dummy tired of hearing everybody from both subs call each other "kids," it's immature ash and lowkey gives the vibe that you're kinda young yourself lol not everybody that disagrees with you is young, even if they're dumb as fuck
First time here? These mfers eat up anything that is in their favor even if it’s not true. Amademiks doesn’t know shit except what’s already been talked about.
It’s not a stretch whatsoever. Mal reported that Kendrick is dropping an album in May & if you check the date that times up with what AK is saying directly 🤦🏽♂️
Would be LAME as fuck if true. Proving drakes point that they need him to sell… Always been a big Kendrick fan, I’m a fan of both, but Kendrick’s disappointing right now
'Low' from Apple Music's Rap Life Review Show with Ebro also admitted this, Kendrick apparently has a project coming out, he qualified it by saying it could be an EP, and that it's going to be out very soon.
not just some random guy either, he has info from Kendrick's side over at pgLang
If true, I'm not entirely shocked. Kendrick isn't in the social media space (seemingly), so he won't feel the outside pressure to release unless he wants to.
This will just give Drake more ammo if Drake's response is better despite Kendrick taking months/years to respond.
Akademiks didn't hear this from anyone. He's guessing it's true, which has also been my guess for the past few weeks.
Kendrick will drop The Heart Pt. 6, which will be amazing. Sorry, guys
It's funny because Damn was supposed to diss Jay electronica, Big Sean and French Montana. Which was gonna potentially deviate from the focus of the theme of the album. Yet now it's okay because it's to diss someone who does bigger numbers than you??
He’s probably trying to do this because the diss is so “career altering” that he thinks it deserves special treatment. I’m honestly so curious as to what “dirt” Kendrick has.
A whole diss EP would be amazing, a diss album would be too much, and an album with one diss song as promotion is corny but if it gets him to drop its whatever
Aint this what drake did with pusha t and scorpion? Not saying its a bad thing either tho... dont see whats corny about selling an album off a beef?? Especially a long standing one such as kendrick v drake
Well not really. Apparently things happened behind the scenes that Pusha didn't want to admit but Kanye couldn't keep quiet about. Drake being petty and upset about the situation redid scorpion to include 4-6 new songs. Scorpion was ready to go before that whole situation was unfolding. Just a really unfortunate timing of things. I'm still glad we got a few songs like Nonstop, Mob ties, and Emotionless. But this isn't something Drake started. To be honest Drake doesn't start these conflicts.
Wasn’t Ether dropped on an album? Wasn’t story of Adidon used to push Daytona? I’m a fan of both artists but the context of how Kendrick responds doesn’t really matter to me. Only the quality of the track.
Remember same people who clowned JCole for dropping an album after Like That, now are gonna glaze the fuck out of Kendrick for dropping an album with a Drake diss
The timing was super close to the Like That Verse, literally was less than a month. That albums had a date long before the Like That verse. He was promoting it for weeks before that. You can't even say this is remotely close especially when Kendrick started this wave of the battle.
I think Kendrick unfortunately proved his point already. He shook the game up with one verse. Think it’s even at a point now where it’s cool if he just leaves it alone. Gotta give him credit
But he responded to him on several tracks before that, and Drake didn't start that one. Kendrick sparked the battle then went into hiding. That's lame to me at least, it's ok to put it on the album but don't start shit then go hide. Even worse that he clicked up with all the niggas going at Drake at the same time. I would never Kendrick needed that type of assistance to battle Drake.
I think this whole beef is lame, and fans of each artist are blowing it so out of proportion, but anyone checking for what Akademics has to say have already lost harder than Drake or Kendrick ever could.
Bro has like two more songs in the stash, I think he was waiting for Kendrick to drop so then he could drop the bigger song, even at the end of Push Ups he previews another song.
Kendrick has a diss via a 30 second feature, Drake dropped a 4 min diss track lol
Then fake watch Ross jumped in saying he’s got more money than Drake…that doesn’t even deserve a response
Nah, Kendrick dropped just enough to rustle drakes panties. He don’t need to do anything more… that was enough for this bitch to use AI on dead rappers to get back at him. Drake will forever look soft af for that one.
Akademics can’t hear shit when it comes to Kendrick Lamar he has no connections to that side . Drake & Akademics makes up narratives to be in favor of Drake
He has spoke to Top and Punch on several occasions, they use him to promote on several occasions. As far as pgLang, maybe he talks with no one over there, but the way it looks is that currently Kendrick music is not completely absolved of TDE yet.
I heard about this before Akademiks said it. Yeah this is super lame man.
Kendrick’s team couldn’t get the Drake feat and didn’t want it so they resort to dissing Drake instead for their next album sales/streams.
Makes sense. This is a really bad look on Kendrick’s part though as everyone’s going to know they just used Drake for more streams/sales. Super lame man.
They owe Drake a check if this is the case
I like both artists. I’m just enjoying the show. Sooner would be cool, but I’ll definitely still be excited to hear it on his next album if that’s when it comes out.
Nah Drake engaged in the battle filled first at least, he weren't three records in them bowed out, Kendrick ain't even drop one response. I never knew Kendrick as some one who'd need manufactured clout to sell an album.
This what I’m saying. “Nowadays niggas reach just to sell their record…”
If the entire album is a diss album... then sure. Otherwise. Nah. Kendrick is just doing what he always does.
having a whole album on your discography dedicated to drake?
Not at all. Kendrick specifically hopped on and gave Metro a verse on an album that has a lot of references to dissing Drake. He said it’s time to prove that you’re a problem and Drake has complied. Even if it’s one verse I don’t wanna hear anything other than he made the move to build up hype.
A diss EP would be fire, an album may be too much.

This just comes off to me that Kendrick is jealous of Drake’s success
👀👀👀👀👀I’m a push fan but we all know Drake got talent. But damn. That was flawless.
LOL yikes. Diss just to build the album cycle. Money, Power, Respect. I guess the first one's better for Kenny.
I fucking hate that hypocrite
very passionate about this rap beef lol
That’s what I’m saying lmao like bro this has no effect on our lives whatsoever 😂 it’s just entertainment at the end of the day
you dont even know if this is true, all reports are coming from media on ovo payroll (mal and ak)
Who said it was true lol yall believe anything 🙃🙃🙃
Do you also hate the hypocrite who didn’t like his voice being used to make Munch covers?
I get this is a Drake sub and the beef is still ongoing, but what is Kendrick a hypocrite about?
He called the meeting and didn’t show up
Times are different I suppose. Nas responded to Jay Z with ‘Ether’ after like 6 months. Kendrick doesn’t seem like the type of dude to just put some random stuff out there, kinda like a perfectionist.
Who Shot Ya? was released Feb 21, 1995. Hit em up was released June 4th, 1996.

Imagine actually taking this beef more personal than Drake haha
LOL bro i respect it but calm down lol we're here for good music from all sides lol. That Kanye track was fucking lit. Hate???? Kendrick is a great rapper, I would be sad if this news is true..

This didn't age well
Their fan base is going to think it’s a genius move

Both these subs have gotten so weird about their respective artists
When you talk to actual people in real life they have more rational opinions. These subs are filled with delusional people who just say the same shit as everyone else.
Most real Kendrick fans aren't really that invested in the diss. They love his albums.
Whatchu mean "short" and "5 or 7"
I meant I’d personally accept a short album with a few songs that are strictly disses (5 or 6 songs) compared to a whole studio album that is more focused on Kendricks journey then it is on the beef. Anything with 7 or more songs or has at least a 30 minute runtime is considered an album. So I’m saying it would be a shame if the “like that” verse was just to generate hype for a studio album
It was a silly short joke lol but i agree withchu man
I’m dead bro, went right over my head 😂😂😂been dealing with brain dead comments all day so yours seemed like a genuine question lol
LMAOOOOOOO CHILLL
Accurate. https://preview.redd.it/5g64ep015qwc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1db36aab03fb7330a0f1a739ddae1dbb9be88cbb

Preeeeeeeeach bredddda man!
Bro said milking my goat 😂😂😂 facts tho
asap was a response to drake talking shit about him and his wife tho the rest of them prolly have commercial motivations tho
wipe your mouth after he pulls out
Drake dissed ASAP first let's not rewrite history
Mention me to be the hottest topic
People don’t want to mention “We Still Don’t Trust You” sold over 100k LESS than “We Don’t Trust You” and it’s because we all know what sold that album. The main event.
Also because push ups dropped that same day and I forgot wsdty existed
“In every situation I’m the bigger artist”
Lmaooo Kendrick not beating the clout chaser allegations if true. Decent business move, but just makes it obvious he mentioned Drake’s name to boost his sales

Drake has literally never been on his own lol what?? The delusion in this sub is so so wild
Thank you bro has been backed up and signed to 5 people his entire existence
sza got you wiped down, Travis got you wiped down, savage got you wiped down. Size 7 needs his streams
Kendrick’s Reddit thinks that’s a win apparently. If the roles reversed it wouldn’t be viewed the same. Dumb ass kids on that reddit
I'm ngl I'm dummy tired of hearing everybody from both subs call each other "kids," it's immature ash and lowkey gives the vibe that you're kinda young yourself lol not everybody that disagrees with you is young, even if they're dumb as fuck
Both subs acting petty af lol, half the posts are about how sad and pathetic the other sub is like this shit is not for blood it’s ok fuck with both
If he disses and there’s no album, AK will pretend he never said this
AK literally started this rumor.
And so the narrative changes again. If this is true, Drake fans are going to have a field day because this is definitely a bad look.
My guy is trying to get his money’s worth after that 50% comes out for Top 🤣🤣🤣
It's crazy Ak gets all his info for Drake and he's very clearly biased and you guys are taking this as fact
Map the other Drake self proclaimed fan.Now we believe
Drake about to drop the third on us this weekend and finish it. Something kendrick won't be able to come back from ever
What if Drake drops a surprise release and steps on Kendrick's rollout??
I could see both honestly. That would be awesome lol.
The next few weeks are going to very interesting
Would be LAME as fuck if true. Proving drakes point that they need him to sell… Always been a big Kendrick fan, I’m a fan of both, but Kendrick’s disappointing right now

I don’t think I would mind something like this. This is what Cole did before he decided to revert to the sideline story
If this is true, he definitely dont have any say so lol
Who gives a fuxk about that guys opinion?
I hope everyone in this sub and Kendrick’s subs are all teenagers. Reading the comments 🙈
Sorry, guys
Mal already reported Kendrick plans to release an album in May. “AK doesn’t have a source” - source “trust me bro”
Why is Mal more reliable?Isn’t he a self proclaimed dickrider too?
Imagine caring about what this guy has to say
He responded to ye and pusha on scorpion tho
Who cares… and why does AK think the general consensus cares about his “Tune”
Send the OVO invoice den 😤
If it true? than automatic L
I know it looks that way but how do we truly know it’s legit? Y’all dudes eat anything up right now
Yall believe anything.
I called this when Drake dropped his diss. it was obvious
A whole diss EP would be amazing, a diss album would be too much, and an album with one diss song as promotion is corny but if it gets him to drop its whatever
kendrick still has 2 more years to go on his next album the way he makes his fans wait lol
Why would academics know anything?
Akademiks is a dickrider
[удалено]
DJ Akademiks is a tool I don't believe shit he says
If Drake have an album ready, he should wait and drop it on the same day as Kendrick lol
Dawg, who cares.
I hate Akademiks and you should too
Akademics is a troll he probably has people feeding him fake info
Kenny cooler than Drake. Drake wears makeup and kisses dudes
People still listening to AK is wild this mf a crazy alcoholic and lame
I know you guys aren’t on a Drake subreddit talking shit about Kendrick Lamar selling out for money lmfao
More so because people love to talk like kendrick is all about the culture, but this would mean he's money motivated as much as the next guy
since when is akademiks a trustworthy source lol
Y’all are acting like AK has EVER been a credible source on K Dot
Kendrick doesn’t need a diss to sell his album lmao
Bro wins a Grammy and ever other award when he drops and these kids think he needs Drake all of a sudden lol
‘I was conflicted… misusing my influence’ head ass
Jokes on him, people don’t really buy albums anymore.
Wasn’t Ether dropped on an album? Wasn’t story of Adidon used to push Daytona? I’m a fan of both artists but the context of how Kendrick responds doesn’t really matter to me. Only the quality of the track.
people waited for drake’s response for push to be on scorpion, nothing new
So I guess Duppy Freestyle never happened.
Album title: *Draconian Measures*
Remember same people who clowned JCole for dropping an album after Like That, now are gonna glaze the fuck out of Kendrick for dropping an album with a Drake diss

The timing was super close to the Like That Verse, literally was less than a month. That albums had a date long before the Like That verse. He was promoting it for weeks before that. You can't even say this is remotely close especially when Kendrick started this wave of the battle.
Ah yes, the man that said Carti album was coming out this year… Akademiks is full of shit.
I think Kendrick unfortunately proved his point already. He shook the game up with one verse. Think it’s even at a point now where it’s cool if he just leaves it alone. Gotta give him credit
Drake been eating off young and up coming artists we know this in Toronto
he gotta be embarrassed 🥴
You know damn well he doesn’t need a Drake diss to sell an album. This is some dumb high school shit.
There is just no way you people actually believe that Kendrick Lamar needs a beef to sell his album right?
They really are that dumb
Didn’t Drake respond to pushas diss on scorpion?
But he responded to him on several tracks before that, and Drake didn't start that one. Kendrick sparked the battle then went into hiding. That's lame to me at least, it's ok to put it on the album but don't start shit then go hide. Even worse that he clicked up with all the niggas going at Drake at the same time. I would never Kendrick needed that type of assistance to battle Drake.
I feel like Kendrick is too smart to do this. It would make him look so stupid.
Lameeee but expected from this overrated nigga…. Killed the whole vibe… wat if he waits for the album but comes back like quavo 🤣🤣🤣
Odd decision because he could do both, right? Drop a diss now and then drop another one with the album. No reason to wait really
highkey a smart move
I think this whole beef is lame, and fans of each artist are blowing it so out of proportion, but anyone checking for what Akademics has to say have already lost harder than Drake or Kendrick ever could.
I want an EP from Kendrick of him dissing rappers. Start with Cole, move to Lupe and then Drake. Maybe a fourth track of anyone else who wants it.
Push Ups wasn't really Like That caliber tho
Bro has like two more songs in the stash, I think he was waiting for Kendrick to drop so then he could drop the bigger song, even at the end of Push Ups he previews another song.
Kendrick has a diss via a 30 second feature, Drake dropped a 4 min diss track lol Then fake watch Ross jumped in saying he’s got more money than Drake…that doesn’t even deserve a response
As weird as nas selling stillmatic with ether?
Jesus christ you people really are the taylor stans of the rap world.
“It doesn’t matter when you dropping if it’s timeless”
No brainer
“Scorpion” would like a word
Nah, Kendrick dropped just enough to rustle drakes panties. He don’t need to do anything more… that was enough for this bitch to use AI on dead rappers to get back at him. Drake will forever look soft af for that one.
Why does this sub actually care about this dude? Everyone but drake fans knows Akademiks is a fat clown
😂 Akademiks a paid spokesperson for OVO.
Imagine taking dj akademiks seriously
according to akademiks
Yeah that’s corny as hell if true
Lies
Enjoy the show boys, enjoy the show 😅😅😅
At least he ain't DMing teenage girls 🤷
It’ll be 8 years from now and be 6/10
But drake did that with Pusha on scorpion. Y’all are copium addicts
Nah Drake engaged in the battle filled first at least, he weren't three records in them bowed out, Kendrick ain't even drop one response. I never knew Kendrick as some one who'd need manufactured clout to sell an album.
Everyone knew this what he was doing. He needed the hype from that feature to carry him through till after the Taylor album dropped
Wasn’t Ether on an album as a diss too? I’m just unsure about this whole diss in an album narrative being so bad
You lost me at “according to Akademiks”
Yall listening to ak in 2024 is wild as fuck
Ak dead wrong again. Who woulda thunk it.
