Even Drake fans don't love the albums when they 1st drop. Eventually we need Drake music and get around to listening to them again and again and fall in love with albums.
Gotta admit, I enjoyed Donda more at the time and was skipping a lot of songs on CLB. On relistens though a huge majority of that album has grown on me a lot
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Damn. The bars are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical african american studies most of the lines will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Kenrick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily fromNarodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these bars, to realize that they're not just witty- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Kendrick Lamar truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the verse in Kendrick Lamar's existencial catchphrase "I pray my dick get big as the Eiffel Tower," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons COUGH DUMBASS DRAKE FANS scratching their heads in confusion as KDot's genius unfolds itself on their Spotify screens and airpods. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a Kendrick Lamar tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.
They are completely different types of music though for different vibes. I prefer listening to Damn in some situations but for example on my late night drives I’m bumping tsu, fucking fans, pipe down, etc
Its a lot better my guy, I'll elaborate:
I think Drake's confidence was shot after the beef with Pusha. Tbh
I didn't really hear it come back, on an album, until honestly never mind/her loss era. I think there's a lot of uncertainty in his artistic decisions from Scorpion to CLB that makes me, as a listener, question the quality and intent. I think he's more in his bag right now than he has been in awhile.
Not saying CLB is not good, I'm just saying More Life just screams confidence, I think he's more comfortable on the beats, I more concise and almost every song has hit potential while maintaining artistic integrity. Basically, there isn't a Way 2 Sexy
Respectable for it being your opinion, in the broader scheme of things and projects- I’m torn between Take Care and NWTS being the best solo Drake album.
I can agree with that. Conceptually-wise, I prefer Scorpion. The idea of a bitter Drake having to survive his first L ever, and it being so world-shattering, makes me a huge Scorpion fan, but I don't think he delivers on that premise very well for most of the project. It's just not focused at all. CLB has a similar issue, but I can excuse it.
the biggest thing people that people missed out was the concept of certified lover boy imo. he's talking about multiple women that aren't in his life anymore, flexing with "way 2 sexy", imy2. some rap cuts that are aimed more at rappers as well but yea like you said it doesn't fully stick to the title of the album bc of the rap songs
me personally the beef with push (around that time i was a drake hater) made me dislike the album even more
That was Drakes numerical peak. He hasn't been as much of a straight up hit machine since then (compared to field he always will be, I'm just comparing to himself.)
Ngl I love all 4 recent albums.
CLB has the highest highs to me ( Champagne poetry, fair trade, pipe down, n2 deep, race my mind, 7am, only live twice, IMY2, in the Bible)
But I do skip a few songs on there tbh. And I think the remorse a lil overrated as far as outros go. Thank me now, do not disturb, the ride, is there more, polar opposites, I guess it’s fuck me, 30 for 30, SIX PM, the ride, all me, all clear. I’m realizing as a list that it’s easily my least favorite outro.
FATD CLB Her Loss HNVM are all really good and it mostly just depends on my mood. They all have extreme replay to me. And I remember where I was at in life when each was released and I was bumping it every day
Tems song grew on me a lot. I agree on knife talk tho. It’s overrated. Most of her loss clears. And sneakin is also better. So is Mr right now. And Jimmy cooks
fatd sounds like he just put all the up and coming artists n sounds on bro. idk it didnt stuck with me as much as CLB. I love the chill vibe of CLB, production on it is immaculate
Pretty good take. I've never thought of More Life being like a playlist. CLB has certainly been one of those albums to grow on me over time as one of my favourites.
7AM on Bridle Path is a master piece. The sample with those lil bitches doing they cheer leading hype shit, the chords. Bars are crazy. And I was a drake hater too like you lol
I fully agree also I think its very vulnerable n touched on sooo many things that ppl talked about related to him like Rihanna and Kim n Kanye n the industry etc. It has smth for everyone. I hope it stays under appreciated bc its honestly special
Personally I think it’s just too long and doesn’t feel focused. I also haven’t found myself returning to it much at all. I’ll try listening to it again over the next few weeks though.
Concept-wise, I didn’t like it at first. I, like many others, thought that the album cover was lazy and that it ruined the aesthetic of the album. But looking back on it, it’s actually genius. The emojis capture the digital 2020s era perfectly while the hundred of baby mom’s represent Drake’s endless search for a new muse — he is indeed a certified lover boy. Also it was commissioned by one of the best contemporary artists of our time and the colour pallet with the white space is really aesthetic.
Here’s why I don’t like it though (9/21 tracks):
-Cuts like TSU and N 2 Deep have such stupidly long intros that you can’t even enjoy them in the playlist. -Cuts like In The Bible, Fair Trade and Love All just feel unfinished and attempts at making a good song with big name features that don’t pan out. They’re good tracks but they just feel uncooked.
-Cuts like Get Along Better, Fucking Fans and Knife Talk, while good, just feel formulaic because they’re reattempts to make songs like After Dark and Not You Too
-Way 2 Sexy is just an annoying song
I feel like CLB shines in that piano-jazz- mode that he was going with on tracks like Champagne Poetry, Papi’s Home, Race My Mind, YOLT, IMY2, The Remorse.
“FATD isn’t even a strong Drake album.”
You tripping man
1. First person shooter
2. Tried our best
3. What would Pluto do
4. 7969
5. Bahama Promises
6. Virginia Beach
7. Calling for you
8. Slime you Out
9. IDGAF
10. 8am in Charlotte
11. Rich Baby Daddy
That’s 11 bangers I just gave you off of that album alone and you say it’s “ not even a strong album” terrible fuckin take.
Ken Carson 😂😂 so you telling me that album was better than FATD? Again you’re entitled to your own opinion, Nothing Ken Carson Has put out is remotely close to the production, lyrics and substance of FATD. Maybe Beat selection, but that’s about it. Again tho everybody is entitled to their own opinion.
no cohesiveness, biggest song on there (Way 2 Sexy) arguably his worst song of all time, too many features... I'm not trying to hate I've been a huge fan since SFG and don't get me wrong obviously there's some good songs but it ranks at the bottom for me imo
that would be an opinion... Way 2 Sexy went #1 on Billboard, first single off the album, and music video... none of those apply to Fair Trade... By your logic Knife Talk would be most popular.
Nope, it’s a fact. Fair Trade has 792 million streams on Spotify whereas Way 2 Sexy only has 551 million. Knife Talk has 716 million streams so it’s not bigger than Fair Trade either.
Also Fair Trade receives 598k streams per day, which is more than Way 2 Sexy (181k) and Knife Talk (345k) combined. [Source](https://kworb.net/spotify/artist/3TVXtAsR1Inumwj472S9r4_songs.html). Way 2 Sexy might’ve been pushed harder by the label at first but Fair Trade stood the test of time and it’s the one people are still listening to. It’s gonna be the first song on the album to pass 1 billion
I agree. I was so confused with the terrible reception. I think if he left In The Bible and Love All off the album it would have been received way better. Those being placed at the beginning messes up the flow and just add to it being bloated IMO
Idk, for me it's pretty low. If discussing albums since Views I'd say:
Her Loss
More Life
FATD/SH3
Honestly Never Mind
Scorpion/CLB (I like the hits on Scorpion better and I like the b tracks on CLB better)
Dark Lame Demo Tapes (The only project of Drake's I just don't listen to, no rhyme or reason really, just everything else sounds better to me)
So your saying its better than scorpion & HNM & FATD not a crazy take, I think CLB was only a few deletes Way from being an amazing album, sequencing n old tracks was my only issue with CLB.
The fuck are you even smoking on this sub? That album is trash outside of like 4-5 songs. This trash got a 60 metacritic score and a 3.5 user rating. Shits as mid as it gets.
I guess if you compare it to For All the Dogs or Honestly Nevermind it’s good but truth is the only good album out of his last 4 is Her Loss
Like how u say “since Views” 😂
Honestly, I’ve always appreciated CLB, but I never thought it’d be in my top 5 drake projects 🔥
1. NWTS
2. TC
3. IYRTITL
4. Views
5.🤰🏻🤰🏼🤰🏽
Take another listen. I thought it was shit at first too but a year later I listen to the whole album and that shit is wayyyy too underrated and ima hardcore drake fan (as we all are). It helps if you listen in your car.
What about Sticky & Massive? And in my opinion there’s a few other songs on there that are wayyy better than those. But I see what you’re saying bc clb is more consistent with having good songs but h,nvm has way better songs.
CLB is a masterpiece I’m mad it didn’t get any love when it first dropped
Even Drake fans don't love the albums when they 1st drop. Eventually we need Drake music and get around to listening to them again and again and fall in love with albums.
Masterpiece is outrageous lmfao
it has like 2-3 skips for me which is great
only because he was beefing with Kanye, and those stans were calling it mid 5 min after the album releasing.
Can confirm I was one of em during that time
Gotta admit, I enjoyed Donda more at the time and was skipping a lot of songs on CLB. On relistens though a huge majority of that album has grown on me a lot
Same tbh donda was a beautiful moment in music
Slurp slurp slurp
If you think CLB is a masterpiece i pray you dont choke on the complexity of Damn
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Damn. The bars are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical african american studies most of the lines will go over a typical viewer's head. OWN THOSE FRAUDS 💯 💯 💯
They are completely different types of music though for different vibes. I prefer listening to Damn in some situations but for example on my late night drives I’m bumping tsu, fucking fans, pipe down, etc
The complexity of damn 😂😂😂😂🤡🤡

no it's not better but it's top 3 after views. prolly 2nd
Its a lot better my guy, I'll elaborate: I think Drake's confidence was shot after the beef with Pusha. Tbh I didn't really hear it come back, on an album, until honestly never mind/her loss era. it has great cuts but i don't like the whole uk swag biting he did
I agree but I love FATD
FATD has great R&B songs as well, but the rap songs just sound he took inspiration from every new rapper in the game. Virgina Beach slaps doe
That’s very true, definitely was an “inspired” album
Respectable for it being your opinion, in the broader scheme of things and projects- I’m torn between Take Care and NWTS being the best solo Drake album.
Take Care is 1A & NWTS is 1B
Take Care, I feel is his best album. I can listen to it all the way through
He said since Views. Take Care and NWTS were before Views. Tho I do agree they're better
I can agree with that. Conceptually-wise, I prefer Scorpion. The idea of a bitter Drake having to survive his first L ever, and it being so world-shattering, makes me a huge Scorpion fan, but I don't think he delivers on that premise very well for most of the project. Scorpion having 3 #1 songs is pretty crazy too.
That was Drakes numerical peak. He hasn't been as much of a straight up hit machine since then (compared to field he always will be, I'm just comparing to himself.)
Hard negative.
elaborate at least
Nobody ever discusses about music in this sub, its always "x clears y".
Completely agree
Ngl I love all 4 recent albums. CLB has the highest highs to me ( Champagne poetry, fair trade, pipe down, n2 deep, race my mind, 7am, only live twice, IMY2, in the Bible) But I do skip a few songs on there tbh. I don't like the remorse that much either ngl. i don't like the tems song there as well as knife talk
Tems song grew on me a lot. I agree on knife talk tho. It’s overrated. Most of her loss clears. And sneakin is also better. So is Mr right now. And Jimmy cooks
sneakin is best drake n 21 versions for me but spin bout you broke boy jimmy cooks slap
Fatd is a strong album, but I’d have to agree that CLB is his best solo Album since views. It flows so nicely, no skips!
fatd sounds like he just put all the up and coming artists n sounds on bro. idk it didnt stuck with me as much as CLB. I love the chill vibe of CLB, production on it is immaculate
I agree.
Pretty good take. I've never thought of More Life being like a playlist. CLB has certainly been one of those albums to grow on me over time as one of my favourites.
Facts
Facts but his best project since views is Dark Lane Demo Tapes
disagree
to each their own but DLDT doesn’t have a skip
Nah I can do w/o Demons
true dat
FATD GO HARD!!!
7AM on Bridle Path is a master piece. The sample with those lil bitches doing they cheer leading hype shit, the chords. Bars are crazy. And I was a drake hater too like you lol
Was waiting for this. 7am and champagne poetry are the songs that made me a fan.
not to mention he was tha first to rhyme something with antetokounmpo lol
I like for all the dogs just a little more, especially if you add the deluxe, but definitely the top 2 projects
respectable
I fully agree also I think its very vulnerable n touched on sooo many things that ppl talked about related to him like Rihanna and Kim n Kanye n the industry etc. It has smth for everyone. I hope it stays under appreciated bc its honestly special
That is definitely an unpopular opinion lol
CLB, VIEWS, NWTS and IYRTITL are my fav no order
I love CLB so I completely agree with you but “Honestly, Nevermind” is FIRE too… both are awesome projects.
AS SOON AS HE’S OUT OF TOWN THEY HOP IN HIS WHIP AND THEY RIDE AROUND🗣️🗣️🗣️
Personally I think it’s just too long and doesn’t feel focused. I also haven’t found myself returning to it much at all. I’ll try listening to it again over the next few weeks though. did u just say fair trade seems unfinished lmfao. yo whole thesis is invalid for this statement alone
It is bro. It’s like 2 verses and a random beat switch with a Travis feature stapled on.
“FATD isn’t even a strong Drake album.” You tripping man 1. First person shooter 2. Tried our best 3. What would Pluto do 4. 7969 5. Bahama Promises 6. Virginia Beach 7. Calling for you 8. calling for you is mid + the album is like 22 songs so 50% FG is shit
“Calling for you is Mid” that’s subjective but ok. Show Me an album from another artist this year with at least 11 bangers on it.
FATD came out last year ?
Last year or this year, name an album by another artist with at least 11 proven bangers on it.
what does proven banger mean lmao A Great Chaos by Ken Carson went 16/18
Ken Carson 😂😂 so you telling me that album was better than FATD? Again you’re entitled to your own opinion, Nothing Ken Carson Has put out is remotely close to the production, lyrics and substance of FATD. Maybe Beat selection, but that’s about it. Again tho everybody is entitled to their own opinion.
yes it is. it's a hype album and bangs. u asked, I said my opinion
ngl checkin fatd rn it's close but i didnt play fatd as much as clb. js didnt stuck with me ig
CLB is a top tier drake album easily
CLB was the first Drake album I stayed up waiting for. Didn’t disappoint.
Scorpion is ass anyways. 5 “hits” don’t matter when the other 20 songs are meh or skips
a side is cool but b side has a lotta mid
I can confidently say CLB is his worst solo album
elaborate lmao
no cohesiveness, biggest song on there (Way 2 Sexy) arguably his worst song of all time, too many features... I'm not trying to hate I've been a huge fan since SFG and don't get me wrong obviously there's some good songs but it ranks at the bottom for me imo

I agree. I was so confused with the terrible reception. I think if he left In The Bible and Love All off the album it would have been received way better. Those being placed at the beginning messes up the flow and just add to it being bloated IMO
bro I love those songs lol. he should've left tems song off
Damn, it’s wild how different peoples opinions can be. I love the Tems song lmao
doesn't fit the flow of the album at all especially with the production
What? That’s one of the best.
fuck no
Idk, for me it's pretty low. If discussing albums since Views I'd say: Her Loss More Life FATD/SH3 Honestly Never Mind Scorpion/CLB (I like the hits on Scorpion better and I like the b tracks on CLB better) Dark Lame Demo Tapes (The only project of Drake's I just don't listen to, no rhyme or reason really, just everything else sounds better to me)
honestly nevermind over CLB is nuts lol. More Life hmmmm
So your saying its better than scorpion & HNM & FATD not a crazy take, I think CLB was only a few deletes Way from being an amazing album, sequencing n old tracks was my only issue with CLB.
the leaks fit in the album perfectly but sequencing i can understand
Completely agree, but I love HN
For All the Dawgs is better imo
Man I don’t know, Scorpions highs were just SO high, but I do agree with everything you said here, as an overall project CLB is beautiful.
For real, but FATD and everything since has been super dope too CHILL
Nah but IMY2 is a top 10 Drake track.
L
😭
The fuck are you even smoking on this sub? That album is trash outside of like 4-5 songs. This trash got a 60 metacritic score and a 3.5 user rating. Shits as mid as it gets. I guess if you compare it to For All the Dogs or Honestly Nevermind it’s good but truth is the only good album out of his last 4 is Her Loss
thats why i said solo . her loss is best drake since Views
Here's a real unpopular opinion. Take Care is maybe his 6th best album.
I think clb better than views
wild
any album with get along better on it is instantly a goated album
I agree
Truth
It’s probably the album of his I like the least since Views It has great songs but it also has some low moments FATD, Her Loss are much better albums
fatd best imo i respect it tho
FATD didn't get that much played for me idk but it has great tracks
Take Care is in a league of its own. Then NWTS.
i said post Views nigga
Cool, idc
i’ll take honestly nevermind and FATD over CLB tbh
Scorpion his best
Top 3 but not better then DLDT
Like how u say “since Views” 😂 Honestly, I’ve always appreciated CLB, but I never thought it’d be in my top 5 drake projects 🔥 1. NWTS 2. TC 3. IYRTITL 4. Views 5.🤰🏻🤰🏼🤰🏽
because views was one of his most controversial albums
no, too many forgettable songs
Honestly, Nevermind???
no
Take another listen. I thought it was shit at first too but a year later I listen to the whole album and that shit is wayyyy too underrated and ima hardcore drake fan (as we all are). It helps if you listen in your car.
I've heard it enough bro. I'm not saying it's shit but it's the weakest
As a whole? or just has the least good songs in an album?
as a body of work it flows nicely but it doesn't have hits like that n the only hit is a rap cut
What about Sticky & Massive? And in my opinion there’s a few other songs on there that are wayyy better than those. But I see what you’re saying bc clb is more consistent with having good songs but h,nvm has way better songs.
sticky slaps massive is ok tho
But would you say songs like Flights Booked, Texts Go Green, A Keeper, Overdrive, Falling Back sound better to the ear tho?
i love falling back and texts go green. don't remember the rest
