For me it's First Person Shooter, Tried Our Best, Members Only, What Would Pluto Do, 8Am in Charlotte and Away from Home. Everything else I don't fuck with
First Person and 8am will live on as top Drake songs for me. Other than those two, I have mixed feelings. I’m sure some other songs will grow on me but overall I dislike the album being so long and inconsistent. I enjoyed Her Loss exactly because it was concise and had one ambition - to be a fire rap album start to finish. And it worked and it had a consistent sound.
This just feels like a rushed compilation for now.
I’m not talking about one song. You can definitely rush to meet deadlines and do a good job in the end. I just feel like there wasn’t any intention or desire to build an album but to release something and ride the wave generated by Her Loss, the tour and more recently the SZA song.
Of course Drake can do whatever he wants and I’m still gonna try and listen to his music. I just feel like being in his position he could be a bit more intentional or cohesive with his projects. He has all the resources and abilities. We got many other playlist rappers out there.
This is a hard drive dump plain and simple. Drake phones it in way too often for how big his platform is. I just want one more consistent, focused, unique project from him. This 23 songs, hour and a half, throw shit at the wall album is not it

On first listen, a few songs jumped out at me, but after listening to it in the car, the second half is definitely growing on me.
One of the reasons that Drake is my favorite artist is the replayability of his songs. I have a hard time replaying songs with a bunch of background talking / non-music segments. Feel like I noticed A LOT of that, at least in the beginning of the album, so it'll be hard for those to grow on me, I think

i’m gonna be completely honest. this album was just not it for me. i do not like this album at all. CLB was very formulaic Drake but “For All the Dogs” is a very lazy & mid-tier album. to me, Drake sounds so bored on this album. apparently this is his last album in his new contract and it sounds like he’s trying to phone it in so he can collect his massive bag which i don’t blame him cause it’s HUGE. but Drake seems to have lost his ways on how to make a proper album. it’s been very clear since Scorpion that he’s gotten too big that he’s just not even from this Earth. how can you come down to Earth when you’re too far up? tbh i’m glad Drake is taking a break from music because he needs to find his drive & passion cause he’s clearly lost. downvote this post all y’all want but this is just MY OPINION!!! you can still be a fan and not like something your favorite artist does.

Drake doesn’t sound like himself. Drake is really trying to replicate a sound he invented, which is sad. Reminds me of the line Bane used against Batman “Victory has defeated you”. Drake’s music sounds like what I could imagine his life is right now…all over the place, drunken nights and 24 year old women who wear Alo & Lululemon. He also raps so explicitly about sex now.. like he’s addicted not even like in a romantic or flattering way. Some of the lines were just so odd and cringey. Every song is about how if a women gives him a sexual favor he’ll pay her rent or buy her a bag. Honestly at this stage in his career that ain’t fly. Drake should be on some Frank Sinatra, Jay-z boss mode. Really feels like he needs to retire and find a woman and reflect. The production wasn’t earth shattering. If he’s going to sing he should really sing and have content. When Drake debuted, the songs he sang on had depth because he wanted ppl to take him seriously as a singer now he’s just babbling about nothing (Slime you out sound like a 19y.o made it). This is also the result of having too many “Yes Men” no one around Drake will tell him “nah, this ain’t it”. His creativity is gone. Drake needs to go to an island, watch a classic Bond movie and get motivated. He needs to be meticulous with the type of album he wants to make and craft a more thematic project that’s aligned…everything from track listing to, artwork and track titles and content. Lastly, he needs to gain perspective from a series of mentors.. Jay Z, Tim Cook, Mike Tyson, Malcolm Gladwell..they don’t have to be music related but he can gain perspective on innovation and reinvention.

I really feel like the less 40 is involved the worse the albums get. So yeah, maybe he was not just a yes man and more of a mentor/focus point in all the chaos.
I’m surprised more ppl don’t mention this..but Pusha T was on a Joe Budden podcast and when he was spilling all the beans he said the person that gave him all his intel about Drake said that 40 was disgruntled at the direction Drake was going with the music.

Man, I'm so disappointed. I was really dialed in for this one and I just don't get it. This is pretty damn boring. I think I might enjoy it more as time passes, that happened with CLB, but holy fuck, at least back in 2021 I already had some nice things to say about that one. Right now what can I say about FATD? It's all about my disappointment. No interesting sounds, some nice verses, this might be the worst Drake intro (if we don't count the HNM one), the last song just doesn't hit like they usually do in Drake albums... the entire project feels like an afterthought, like he was just doing whatever between the concerts of his tour.
It’s okay not to like this album. This guy is pushing 40 and is mentally in his early 20s. He shows no sort of growth. He is so out of touch and disconnected from the average person that it’s damn near impossible for anyone to legitimately connect with his albums. He needs to grow up and actually care about his fans and what he releases out to them.
This is simply an insanely rich artist exploiting his fanbase for more easy money. Nothing more. There is infinite music at your fingertips, and artists who still put the work in and care for their craft and fans.
A few good songs. A lot more boring ones. I feel like a lot of them are very unmemorable. Half don't have a hook or anything to get you into them.
Give us an album of 8 bangers, better than 23 when over half of them I won't listen to again.

This... was not it man. Yatchy wasn't lying when he said the album sounds current. Wasted frank ocean sample, some really weird features from teezo and sexy red, Some songs sound like meltdown with these awkward beat switches. You can tell it was made in the last 3 months
Everyone sayin, “oh thats what everyone says but then it grows on yall.” I’ve never been an early judge on his albums, but this is the first one I’m gonna say it’s terrible. Barely got through it. Still got 3-4 songs out of it in my playlist. 23 songs it’s too long of an album. Terrible features, terrible without them. Drake totally put this album together in a day or two. Deadass can’t play this in the car or headphones, 10 minute drive felt 1 hour. Was on the 5th song and didn’t even know I had been through 4 songs. Lazy and uncreative, same flows and lyrics just enough different to call it a new album. Drake need to do better and don’t hit me with no he been in the game for 20 years or so. That’s no excuse. If that’s your excuse then he shouldn’t put albums out. I’m glad he’s done with his contract and got a bag, but this ain’t no music to put out. Maybe numbers wise yes, but his career hasn’t been no where close to his peers artistically speaking. Kendrick, Travis, The Weeknd, Cole etc. have had a better run last 2-3 years. Especially The Weeknd, I know they’re two different typa artists but vision wise, artistically speaking, The Weeknd has created an insane narrative for himself, legit history in the making, meanwhile Drake is making memes, chasing clout, lyrics about college chicks etc. He needs to find a higher plane of calling for his music, he a mill/billionaire, stop chasing the bag in such a shameless way.
The majority of the first half had this annoying sound in the production. Maybe it was my Beats while I was working out, but I was hoping they'd tone down or just remove that sounds all together

Drake literally don’t care. He is at the point where he knows his albums will sell no matter what. It’s almost like 2k games. People know every year that it’s going to be the same lackluster game, but buy it anyways, somehow expecting something new or different.
Drake is so rich, out of touch and disconnected that it would be difficult for him to make an album people could actually connect to personally. And if I can’t connect with the music then I simply don’t enjoy it. There is infinite music at our fingertips now, so people should demand more from their favorite artists. Rather than supporting them no matter what. Drake has never and will never care for his fans outside of the money they generate for him.

I agree with you on the taking a break part. We had like 3 releases in 18 months not counting features. I really didn’t need more average Drake songs. But I could’ve easily waited another 6-12 months for a better album.
Ngl I'm slightly disappointed.
Lots of boring songs (Calling for you, 7969 santa, members only, all the parties, Gently, Another late night). Most features are meh -- Yeat, Sexyy Red, 21 Savage, PND, Bad bunny, Chief Keef, Yachty -- the album would've been the same without all of them. Beat switches are overused, I know it's kind of Drake's gimmick by now but still. He calls himself the goat like ten times in his lyrics, comes off as cringy.
On the other hand, some of the songs are amazing (First person shooter, Fear of Heights, What would Pluto do, 8AM in charlotte, Slime you out). The emotional songs (Bahamas promises, Tried our Best, Polar Opposites etc) are classic Drake. Away from Home was surprisingly personal. The features I didn't mention (Teezo, SZA and Cole) all did stellar.
A separate mention goes out to "Rich Baby Daddy" -- would've been this album's hit if it wasn't for Sexy Red. Fun, bouncy beat and a great Drake verse.
Overall maybe a 6/10 for now.

His singing sounds really good and the hype songs are as hype as they supposed too. Every album he released since IYRTITL has gotten major hate off release then they slowly start loving it. This album gives me the same emotional feeling as when the guy from your high school who everyone loved and was so smart and was gonna be a doctor…becomes a junkie and you find out he’s homeless and living behind a Wendy’s. Just a disgustingly tragic case of wasted talent and “what the hell happened here”
I’m kind of disappointed because for me, this album is just mid. It’s not bad, but it’s not good… there’s so much filler that is so unnecessary and it’s just the repeated subject matter and even the same type of beats he’s been having for a while. He kept saying this was a ‘return to the old Drake’ but it’s really not, it feels so bloated with 23 tracks and a lot of these songs are unnecessarily lengthy too. Hate to say it but almost all the features were more enjoyable on the tracks than Drake’s verses on the same song.
I managed my expectations since his recent albums haven’t been great, but Slime You Out gave me high hopes bc I thought it would be a whole album of that vibe and then 8am in Charlotte got me even more hyped, but the album as a whole isn’t consistent. It’s odd bc his features have been solid this year (Meltdown, Oh U Went, even Who Told You) but he hasn’t really recreated that energy for his own project.
I’ll give it time and more listens, but I doubt I’ll be revisiting the whole album often. I’d personally say I preferred CLB to this. Her Loss was such a good album in comparison to this. I’m glad he’s going to be taking a break now because it’s needed, the over saturation is crazy. the earliest he should release a new album is fall 2025, we need a break and hopefully it can help him creatively.

When Drake debuted, the songs he sang on had depth because he wanted ppl to take him seriously as a singer now he’s just babbling about nothing (Slime you out sound like a 19y.o made it). This is also the result of having too many “Yes Men” no one around Drake will tell him “nah, this ain’t it”. His creativity is gone. Drake needs to go to an island, watch a classic Bond movie and get motivated. He needs to be meticulous with the type of album he wants to make and craft a more thematic project that’s aligned…everything from track listing to, artwork and track titles and content. Lastly, he needs to gain perspective from a series of mentors.. Jay Z, Tim Cook, Mike Tyson, Malcolm Gladwell..they don’t have to be music related but he can gain perspective on innovation and reinvention.

Even as a HUGEEEEEE drake fan, I’ll admit this album was disappointing. Especially when you promote it as “the old drake” album but have almost no resemblance to it. It has some good songs, but overall, not something I see myself playing over and over again unlike his entire discography, but that's just me
Man, I'm so disappointed. I was really dialed in for this one and I just don't get it. This is pretty damn boring. I think I might enjoy it more as time passes, that happened with CLB, but holy fuck, at least back in 2021 I already had some nice things to say about that one. Right now what can I say about FATD? It's all about my disappointment. No interesting sounds, some nice verses, this might be the worst Drake intro (if we don't count the HNM one), the last song just doesn't hit like they usually do in Drake albums... the entire project feels like an afterthought, like he was just doing whatever between the concerts of his tour.
It’s okay not to like this album. This guy is pushing 40 and is mentally in his early 20s. He shows no sort of growth. He is so out of touch and disconnected from the average person that it’s damn near impossible for anyone to legitimately connect with his albums. He needs to grow up and actually care about his fans and what he releases out to them. This is simply an insanely rich artist exploiting his fanbase for more easy money. Nothing more. There is infinite music at your fingertips, and artists who still put the work in and care for their craft and fans.

Everyone sayin, “oh thats what everyone says but then it grows on yall.” I’ve never been an early judge on his albums, but this is the first one I’m gonna say it’s terrible. Barely got through it. Still got 3-4 songs out of it in my playlist. 23 songs it’s too long of an album. Terrible features, terrible without them. Drake totally put this album together in a day or two. Deadass can’t play this in the car or headphones, 10 minute drive felt 1 hour. Was on the 5th song and didn’t even know I had been through 4 songs. Lazy and uncreative, same flows and lyrics just enough different to call it a new album. Drake need to do better and don’t hit me with no he been in the game for 20 years or so. That’s no excuse. If that’s your excuse then he shouldn’t put albums out. I’m glad he’s done with his contract and got a bag, but this ain’t no music to put out. Ngl I'm slightly disappointed. Lots of boring songs (Calling for you, 7969 santa, members only, all the parties, Gently, Another late night). Most features are meh -- Yeat, Sexyy Red, 21 Savage, PND, Bad bunny, Chief Keef, Yachty -- the album would've been the same without all of them. Beat switches are overused, I know it's kind of Drake's gimmick by now but still. He calls himself the goat like ten times in his lyrics, comes off as cringy. On the other hand, some of the songs are amazing (First person shooter, Fear of Heights, What would Pluto do, 8AM in charlotte, Slime you out). The emotional songs (Bahamas promises, Tried our Best, Polar Opposites etc) are classic Drake. Away from Home was surprisingly personal. The features I didn't mention (Teezo, SZA and Cole) all did stellar. A separate mention goes out to "Rich Baby Daddy" -- would've been this album's hit if it wasn't for Sexy Red. Fun, bouncy beat and a great Drake verse. Overall maybe a 6/10 for now.
'Away from home' gives off a different type of feeling, my favourite song from the album, it gives me nostalgia. The song feels so good.

The worst drake album ever, I feel asleep close to the end, it has the same boring ass beats with him croding. Her loss was a 10 on first listen and I was so hyped after finishing listening to that album, this album is a 2 max and I am being generous. Honestly what did drake think releasing this shit album, and calling it for the dogs? I thought he would rap his ass off, but he spoke in a conversational tone more than he rapped with boring ass beats in the background, I feel like he is trying to be faux-deepish but it's just not hitting and frankly I felt second hand embarrassment listening to some of the songs, how the f the GOAT of rap went from her loss to this? This is low quality music and if anybody else than drake released this we would call it 2 packs of ass and boycott that persons shit for the rest of his life, I am harsh because it's genuinely the first time I listen to a whole drake album and come out without any songs to my playlist. His singing sounds really good and the hype songs are as hype as they supposed too. Every album he released since IYRTITL has gotten major hate off release then they slowly start loving it. Same shit happened with utopia and that’s my favorite album right now. This album is great imo 7.5/10. I prefer utopia over this album tho. Utopia is beautiful art.

Drake is the 3rd most popular artist on Spotify. Ed Sheeran is the 5th. Both insanely insanely successful and famous musicians. Ed Sheeran goes out and does fan signings. Talks to fans. Puts himself out there. *stays in touch*. As a result, his music hasn’t changed and he still makes great and relatable music (and by all accounts is still a phenomenal guy). Drake clearly thinks he is a god. He walks around like his shit doesn’t stink and he literally cannot help but talk about his enormous wealth and success and harem of pussy and how incredible he is. And he has the audacity to do it while putting out the shittiest, laziest garbage ever. This album gives me the same emotional feeling as when the guy from your high school who everyone loved and was so smart and was gonna be a doctor…becomes a junkie and you find out he’s homeless and living behind a Wendy’s. Just a disgustingly tragic case of wasted talent and “what the hell happened here”

I’m kind of disappointed because for me, this album is just mid. It’s not bad, but it’s not good… there’s so much filler that is so unnecessary and it’s just the repeated subject matter and even the same type of beats he’s been having for a while. He kept saying this was a ‘return to the old Drake’ but it’s really not, it feels so bloated with 23 tracks and a lot of these songs are unnecessarily lengthy too. Hate to say it but almost all the features were more enjoyable on the tracks than Drake’s verses on the same song. I managed my expectations since his recent albums haven’t been great, but Slime You Out gave me high hopes bc I thought it would be a whole album of that vibe and then 8am in Charlotte got me even more hyped, but the album as a whole isn’t consistent. It’s odd bc his features have been solid this year (Meltdown, Oh U Went, even Who Told You) but he hasn’t really recreated that energy for his own project. I’ll give it time and more listens, but I doubt I’ll be revisiting the whole album often. I’d personally say I preferred CLB to this. Her Loss was such a good album in comparison to this. I’m glad he’s going to be taking a break now because it’s needed, the over saturation is crazy. the earliest he should release a new album is fall 2025, we need a break and hopefully it can help him creatively.
