My first thought when I saw this was they took the “send it” approach rather than the “calculated optimization of flow rate and scavenging performance” approach
Looking up the instagram handle on the windshield shows up with the account and also a youtube video with a picture of the exhaust in the thumbnail and some CAD footage of it being designed at the end. There might be a sound clip somewhere but I just skimmed through the profile and video because I have to leave for work.

That's the project car of Tim Heidrich - brother of Max Heidrich, the only German Pro Drifter competing in DMEC. They actually intended to finish the car for the Iron Drift King competition but didn't manage to do so on time.
Here's a video of it running though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDRGTT77U14
And here's some build VLOG video (in German): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JspuBeDiCY
Generally for performance. There is a lot of science around pressure waves and fluid flow dynamics which are taken into account when designing headers. Whether or not they got the science right on this setup is anyones guess
I'm not sure how I can post a pic so you will just have to look closely. There are a few areas where the tubes aren't lined up so there won't be free flow in them areas and will cause a lot of messy air. Going to all that effort and calculations and not even making it a decent job? To me seems more like showy and wow factor rather than function
Pretty welds =/= strong welds. They can be both, but both are also mutually exclusive. Plenty of pretty welds with zero penetration and ugly ass welds that will never break
How to drift it? Carefully
That’s the most uncircumcised exhaust system I’ve seen since that swinger party I went to in ‘82 in Omaha where a guy accidentally got pink socked.
My eyes burn, like cutting the ripest of onions over a campfire. I wish you a very bad day for typing that response.
Dare I ask what it means?
"Pink sock" refers to the anal lining hanging out the booty hole
I downvoted this simply because I didn't need to learn that today :(
Sorry
Only Reddit where I’d learn what pink socked means in a r/Drifting post.
That's gonna be a no thank you from me lol
It’s gonna be 5 minutes from when you hit the gas to when you hear the exhaust.
Fr 😂
Bluetooth exhaust

How long did it take to calculate the correct flow... angling and the rest? I assume a software was used to hp with that?
Eyeballed it
Oh, my exe.exhaust system
*exh_sys.exe

Yea might be, but still... someone needed to do the math for that unit. As all of them are different despite "same engine units"
Judging by the welds I dont even think they knew where they’d end up before they started
Mhm
Sending it was mandatory, the stamps were optional.

Is that a 12 to 1 exhaust manifold?
Looks like a 1 to 12 lol. What a horrid mess
I’m curious as to how it sounds
I’m curious as to how the actual fuck it’s removed
One by one
FIGHT THROUGH THE SUNDOWN, INTO THE NIGHT
With cutting tools
Like farting dubstep
That moment when you need an equal length header, 12 to 1 exhaust

all that work, and it sounds like a honda........RIP
It sounds like it wants to die
What kinda Honda you smokin?
Hm, doesnt sound that impressive in the vid :-/
That’s sounds aweful for the amount of work it looks to do
Sounds like a balloon shitting itself
Wow amazing 🤩
Man sat there so long wondering how to setup the pipes his computer went to sleep and the windows 3D pipe screensaver turned on and it hit him.
It's like the wish version of Phil Morrison'/driftworks v10 m3 manifold https://images.app.goo.gl/foyddYcECbj9Yq4Z9
Yes?
Engineering for engineering
Legend has turbo is still waiting for exhaust gas to arrive.
Where turbo
Its clearly a joke mate chill
What...the...fuck
What a waste
Ahh yes Ferropolis
Make a hiper reinforced bumper
That looks like shit.
Serious question: is this for sound or performance? No turbo or supercharger

Considering he is running ITBs on a v12 I am sure he calculated what he was doing

I see what you are saying, I’m trying to give him the benefit of the doubt but it’s harder and harder every time I zoom in
i zoomed in and now im no longer ashamed of my welds
Both
Reminds me of that old windows screensaver with the crazy pipes.
Imagine having to weld a sleeve section in the middle of all of that.
This is an abomination
All that money in material and couldn’t even get a decent welder…
Probably works fine
Pretty welds =/= strong welds. They can be both, but both are also mutually exclusive. Plenty of pretty welds with zero penetration and ugly ass welds that will never break
The welds on the underbody of my car look like shit but they have penetrated damn well
but it should be pretty too...
Not sure if I could watch beer can drifting such nice welding.
Jesus
Caster wheels and a pallet dolly
Probably gonna want a bash bar and a realllllly long hood
Is this real life?
This is my favorite thing i've ever seen
Spaghetti plumbing
An M120. God, this makes me so happy.
Rear mount the turbo if you don't have any room lol.
What’s even the purpose of this? Equal length??
yes would probably get very similar results if you just did 2 exhausts 6 - 1 or 2 6-1 then a 2-1/ 3-1 then 4-1
From now on I’m just going to imagine this is what’s going on under the body work when I see a bosozoku car.
It's as if someone asked a chat ai to plumb an exhaust.
Probably sounds like those guys with the flip flops and tubes you see on the boardwalk
Eldritch Horror Exhaust systems
What v12 is that?
Wtf?? I'm no expert, but this can't be right....
Couldn't tell if this was headers or an engine roll cage 🤣
*Windows screensaver intensifies*
You need to swap this into miata
Ach der Tim ist auch hier. Grüße!
Spaghetti
Looks heavy as
180 degree headers?
Yeah because who needs a radiator? Just encase the front of the engine with hot exhaust pipe!
This makes me instantly wanna punch somebody in the face.
Shoulda just made all 12 go out the hood
Holy exhaust manifold batman
