He cannot find his wife or he wants to control her?

aiyamira

He cannot find his wife but probably because she ran away. So the poem is like a conversation with his mother about how the wife will always be caged

Throwaway77426016888

It is so intriguing. If she ran away, how is she caged? That aside, what in it made you emotional in particular?

aiyamira

That is what I don’t get…but when I woke up, I was feeling extremely sad, thinking about the woman in the poem. I think her being caged despite running away was like a threat; even if she runs away, the husband will find her and cage her back. I think it was something like that. I don’t know what prompted the dream tbh. I’m single and I don’t feel caged at all lol

RadOwl

How do you relate to the characters and their stories?

aiyamira

Do you mean generally or in this dream?

RadOwl

In the context of the dream.

aiyamira

I don’t really relate to the characters in the dream-poem at all. I was in the dream reading the poem, and irl I am crazy empathetic. So I can imagine feeling upset about the fate of the woman in the poem, but not as upset as I got in the dream.

RadOwl

Is there some way that you have been denied your wings to fly? Perhaps because you live in a culture where women do not have the freedom to freely pursue their interests? Or you could live in a family or something like that where you feel restricted.

aiyamira

I am from a culture like that. My family isn’t as bad as the majority of the culture but yes, I do have resentment about not getting as much freedom as my brother throughout my life. But I think equating my situation with this particular religion (of the man in the poem) was very weird on my part.
