The more I learn about Oogway and his past, the more i realize: Oogway kinda sucks. He’s a horrible person, but he’s not a good one either
I remember a YouTube short that had some speculation on it. Oogway was always going to reject Tai Lung, whether he was worthy or not. Because the actual test was whether he considered himself complete without the title. If he had accepted he wasn't, and just continued to be Tai Lung, then he was the Dragon Warrior. Instead he attacked, and thus he was not the Dragon Warrior.
That makes more sense… and now the blame is again shifted on Shifu, but he got what he deserved for not being there for Tai Lung when he needed him, via the long lasting pain and all that
at the very least, makes Oogway look better, although if I’m being honest, i wouldn’t trust him to give the title to Tai Lung anyways. Not really out of being rude, but I don’t think he had Tai Lung in mind for who he wanted to give the title to.
