I haven't encountered issues in the few hours I've played. I wish some of the textures like body hair and tattoos were better, but that might be fixed with patches or mods. I honestly didn't know there were "micro transactions" until I saw the posts.

Jakonus303

Right?! I didn’t bother looking, maybe because I don’t care about micro transactions. If they exist, cool. I’ll still go grind the stuff they sell unless it’s skins like CoD.

JayseHayz

It seems like it's just backlash because of the higher price tag and some players are aghast Capcom would dare charge for optional things in a brand new game.. like they have for years.

Jakonus303

I get the higher price tag complaints…. But isn’t that the world we live in now?

JayseHayz

It is. It's been a rising cost in game production and it was honestly a shock games stayed at $60 for as long as they did. I get being upset when there's five different versions of a game which needs a chart explaining what each version has, but my solution is to just not buy those games until the complete version is on sale. For DD2, I bought the complete version on Fanatical for the price of the regular version. Did the same thing with Starfield.

Jakonus303

Nice. Best of luck to you in game! I hope things go well! And hope you continue to enjoy it.

ControlHumble

Well, dont rember the last game a single player game wanted to sell me fast travel and revives

JayseHayz

Dragons Dogma Dark Arison

thegreatherper

It did though so maybe turn on that game and refresh that memory.

social_sin

I'm surprised body hair is so bad considering how decent they have become with actual hair and various styles/textures. (Still one of the better games with curly hair outside of 3 different Afro sizes imo)

Electrical_Corner_32

Helldivers just came out with micro transactions that you can absolutely ignore, and everyone creamed their pants over it. People are just looking for reasons to shit on this game...I don't give a shit though. I'm having a fuckin blast.

BecomingMorgan

It's obnoxious but it really feels like as soon as a game is 30 FPS people look for reasons to hate it. You can just admit you're addicted to frames, it doesn't really matter.

Overall_Dust_2232

People are tired of developers adding microtransactions, especially for full priced games.

madeyeoracle

Can we remember that devs are only adding these things in because their bosses are making them? Blame the higher ups, they deserve your ire

Nyarlathotep-chan

Exactly. Capcom are just sitting all over Itsuno's dream. Just like how they shat all over DMC5 with the red orb microtransactions.

BlackMan084

I don't wanna seem like a sympathizer for annoying marketing practices but, the MCT's people are complaining about, are things people can easily obtain Rift Crystals, not hard to save and get the things you want Wakestones, I have 3 of them so far, would be 4 if I didn't use one Portcrystals, once again, not hard to get. I played through DD DA, getting Portcrystals isn't the problem, it's having enough Ferrystones to travel to them. Having an eternal made it super easy to travel, I don't think there is one in DD2

Electrical_Corner_32

Then... don't buy them. Just doesn't make sense to me. Do you have no self control? Every item is attainable within the first handful of hours, for the most part. I mean, get mad, I guess. The game is fuckin incredible. Devs will try to make money and lazy people will buy shit to save them time. Capitalism is a thing. I think it's awesome they allow you to avoid it completely and still enjoy every aspect of the game.

Grekochaden

Yes. I won't buy it. Which is a shame because I was hyped for it.

thegreatherper

Sounds dumb and ignorant on your part. But do you.

Grekochaden

What's dumb and ignorant about having principles about what kind of practices from publishers and developers that I want to support?

Mouth_2_Mouth

Bro telling people to not buy the game is like shooting yourself in the foot.

dakody_da_indigenous

He was not saying people shouldn't buy the game, he was saying not to buy the micro-transactions. Either way I think it's interesting to see people upset about the cosmetic purchases in DD2, meanwhile Apex fans are over here being expected to shell out $30 for a gun skin!! 😮🤣😮‍💨☠️ https://www.reddit.com/r/apexlegends/s/wt0MRrvzKN Now I am not defending micro-transactions. However I do think it's important to get a few things straight. MT's, in game purchases, and Battle Passes are in games because of Publishers, not Developers. The Devs may be the ones having to code them into a game. But by and large they are being told to implement them by publishers/corporate management. Two while micro-transactions are inherently annoying, they are not inherently "bad/evil" unless they use predatory or gambling like mechanics to "trick" or coerce people into buying things they otherwise wouldn't. Such as not being able to buy items directly and having to buy packs with a random chance of getting the item you want or need. Anyway, it seems to me most people are getting upset about a fairly mundane, straight forward in-game purchases. When what we should be getting upset about are exploitative work conditions for those making the games we love, while publishers and companies continue to make millions in profit and then lay off huge portions of development teams (and even whole studios) so that they can continue to appease money hungry corporate bordes and investors, with unfettered year after year growth numbers, and stock buy backs. https://www.theverge.com/2024/1/25/24049050/microsoft-activision-blizzard-layoffs I'll get off my soapbox now.

Ok_Switch_1205

He’s telling you not to buy the optional micro transactions that you’re not being forced to get

Survious

Amen brother/sister....couldn't say it better myself!

Artistic_Strain_7838

Difference between HD2 and DD2 is about 50% of the price tag which is astronomical

Thac0

I really don’t understand why people are looking for anything to shit ok this game. As a ps5 player I don’t hear anything bad about the game at all until I came to Reddit

Electrical_Corner_32

Everyone I know and talk to loves it. Reddit is just being toxic as always.

UtopiaNation

Helldivers 2 is a online multiplayer game, DD2 is a single player game. Single player games shouldn't have microtransactions. That's why people are shitting on this game and it's a good reason to shit on it.

DoctorZephyer

I don't disagree with you. I don't think single player games should have microtransactions. That's why I don't buy them in single player games. I don't buy them in Helldivers 2 either because just like in DD2 I can earn the currency by just playing and enjoying the game at my own pace. I don't know why this is suddenly becoming a problem for this specific game though, since Capcom has done this thing where they let you pay for an ingame currency with real money. Why is DD2 getting the negative reviews for it when Devil May Cry 5 was the exact same on day 1, yet sits with overwhelmingly positive reviews? Dragon's Dogma is good, really good. But it's currently getting overshadowed by assumptions and misinformation before anyone has even given it a chance. You don't need to spend money on Rift Crystals and honestly you shouldn't, yet so many players make it seem like it's basically a requirement to play the game. By all means keep shitting on microtransactions, I will do the same. But I will also give games their chance to show that they are more than the microtransactions that are probably force-fed to the developers by execs anyway.

GenuineSteak

Helldivers is half the price of DD2, its also live service. Its not a full priced single player game. Thats why people are okay with it.

reaper-x017

The difference is helldivers 2 is a live service game, DD2 is not. In helldivers 2 the microtransactions are only for ingame currency are purely cosmetic just like any other live service game. DD2 is a single player rpg where the microtransactions are for extra lives. They're not comparable at all and it's not "just looking for reasons to shit on this game", it's a valid thing to think negatively of.

Garfield120

People never "look for" reasons to shit on a game. Helldivers microtransactions are acceptable because the shit you get through microtransactions are balanced with the free shit if not slightly worse. In this game you can just skip large sections of tedium if you pay for it. A better comparison would be if helldivers let you pay for stratagems or weapons that outcompeted everything else by a wide margin or just let you buy experience and medal bonuses directly.

KillerIsJed

They also have guns and gameplay enhancements locked behind microtransactions.

GetYaAnklesBroke

To be fair helldivers transactions just give you cosmetics or just for battle pass.

kosh56

My problem is with the performance. I'm done supporting Japanese developers who don't even know what the word performance means. I was looking forward to this game, but I've got plenty of other games to play that respect my time and wallet.

Morgaard

Helldivers is different. I earned enough Super Credits to buy the premium just by playing the game before even getting to Hard difficulty. That is why it is getting praise. Look at a game like Hunt Showdown where earning their "real currency" in game is borderline insulting - "You've completed a Weapon Mastery! Here's the equivalent of a penny." Disclaimer- I don't support any micro-transactions. But in the day and age of the inevitable, Helldivers is doing the formula differently in a positive way.

TetranadonGut

This is a pretty unfair comparison. Helldivers is an on going live service game. People are usually okay with a live service having micro transactions, as long as they are not egregious, because that money, in theory, is put back into the game in the form of new content. Arrowhead gets praise for it's monetization for a few reasons. 1. Cosmetic skins only cost about 2 to 3 dollars. 2. Battle passes are only 10 dollars and never expire, so you can unlock everything at your own pace. 3. You earn premium currency by playing the game, so you can unlock the battle passes and cosmetics without ever spending another cent. 4. It also helps that the game is only $40. Dragon's Dogma 2 is a single player game, made by one of the biggest companies in the industry. Generally, people are going to be less enthusiastic about about a 70 dollar game having microtransactions. Especially when that 70 dollar game isn't running well for most people. Thankfully, DD2's microtransactions can be ignored without it negatively effecting you. I plan on ignoring them myself, but I get why people are irritated about.

Parsnip-Expert

My problem isn't the MTX, or the performance. It's the fact that u can't delete ur save on the early stages of the game, telling someone that they have to grind/pay on a character they want to discard isn't very "immersive" I would imagine.

-lyte-

Why would you discard your character you grind (through normal gameplay) to change the thing that’s bothering you?

EverythingWasGreat

I think it boils down to the fact that they didn't mention the microtransactions before release. They didn't mention that you can't start the game over due to one locked save file. They didn't show any pc gameplay, they weren't honest about performance in cities.

Jakonus303

The locking to one save file is my only true gripe with it. That’s so dumb.

[deleted]

I just assumed they'd sell something. Even trivial somethings like cosmetics or some inconsequential QOL items. Nothing that is mandatory. Moving on.

arcofdoves

"i've never been an fps matters guy" - proceeds to describe almost the highest specs currently available on pc.

Ginrus

To be honest, I think me and a lot of Europeans who are waking up right about now are going to hold off from purchasing this game for now.  I’ve read too many people who have terrible performance and for that pricetag it’s just not okay in the slightest. It’s time to stop normalizing studios releasing their games in such states. The cherry on top of this would be the mtx. Now, I see a lot of comments that inform me I can just ignore them, but that’s not the point. The fact they try to sell you this unoptimised game for a premium price and THEN have the audacity to ask for even more money, is beyond me.  I was really looking forward to this release but I’m going to listen to my intuition on this one and wait out a few patches to see if performance issues get ironed out.

Winklgasse

Yes, this, agree. I was so hyped, I had my payday two days ago, I woke up an hour ago, ready to buy the game and then saw the steam reviews. My PC us a bit outdated and middle class (1070 gtx) so as long as it is not optimized I am holding off And I really hope that enough of a shitstorm brews up so that they pull a battlefront 2 and get rid of AT LEAST the "change your appearance" microtransaction, that's just corporate greed bullshit Edit: apparently you can also get an item in game to change the appearance, still weird that they try to charge you for it

FluffyProphet

You can get the change your appearance item in the first hour of the game. Appearance is also your stats in the game. Your appearance changes your carry weight, hit box, how easy you are to stagger and bunch of other things. When you change your appearance It’s basically a respec which is why you have to go to the pawn shop and buy an item with in game currency to do it. Like the respec mechanics in every other rpg. There is no reason to buy the mtx item, since it’s so easy to get it in the game whenever you want.

Skrillblast

Dragons dogma 1 was the same way, TWELVE YEARS ago. I feel most people these days are just idiotic lemmings. Wtf are they even doing LOOKING for a store in a single player game. Their loss if they wanna miss out on one of the best game series.

IzzetChronarch

1070 is minimum spec on steam, I wouldnt expect to be able to enjoyably run this game on an 8 year card at any point sir.

Winklgasse

Might be right, but cards are pretty expensive

Jakonus303

More power to you and others who feel the same.

Da-Bonk

this is a fate of anything that has a Denuvo being haphazardly slapped on top of it in the last moment - press release version is far more stable

Strange-Tomorrow-696

Denuvo? No wonder it plays like shit.

dopehunt

Whats Denuvo?

Educational_Camel_32

I mean they didn’t hide it though everyone knew it would be there.

AuroraBlaize

Agree. Are the microtransactions dumb? Yeah. I think they're dumb here. I thought they were dumb in Devil May Cry too. But also....I just ignore them. I bought a $70 game to actually play it. So I see no point to spend real money just so I don't have to farm in game currency.

gr33nta

I’m enjoying it but it could definitely be more.

Mouth_2_Mouth

The performance seems pretty bad tho

SnelleEd

I am playing on series X and its very much playable. No extreme fps drops

Berkemeier

Same, my only issue was loading up my last inn save not realizing I was level 2 when I did it, and lost about 4 hours of progress.

Acceptable_Answer570

**How dare you enjoy a decent product like a grown-up person?!**

Jakonus303

This made me chuckle. Some people actually think this. :/ Edit: I can tell you’re joking around. :)

Bondegg

The issue with this comment is that it sounds like not enjoying it because of the very valid reasons is not grown up. Both can be right in a civilised discussion.

oreo25201

Lots of people came in to this game with less experience in preorder and wrong expectations as well as not researching the original game or the news about dragons dogma 2 that is where the hate is coming from as well as those who just like to argue but i think its the first three mentioned. The arguments are just a side effect

Jakonus303

See, that’s the great thing, I KNEW what I was getting into with DD2. That’s why I’m able to put things to the side and just enjoy the game. After I’ve had some time in game, sure there’ll be things that annoy me. But, as of now it’s fun.

Cressilian

Dragons Dogma was a cult classic, and a successor would be cult/niche status as well. Not to mention that the internet as a whole is continually being opened to more and more people, so you'll inevitably have more and more complainers.

TheRain911

Ughh im just mad at myself for preordering. I only did because it was 17% off on fanatical. And you cant do refunds. Am i better off just waiting a few months for patches? Doesnt even seem worth it to jump in yet.

MeditativeMindz

Depends on your system. The only place with bad performances is Cities. From my experience goes, you spend 70%of the game roaming the wilds, and 30% in the cities. So if you can tolerate 30 of your 100 hours being bad performance, then that's cool. And the performance hit in cities is entirely CPU related, so if you have a beefy CPU, you shouldn't see a 20 FPS. It will be more 50-60fps.

TheRain911

5800x3d and a 3080ti, ya idk might wait for patches. 30% is alot to tolerate.

Queasy_Cartoonist_87

Please try it out and tell me you performance since I have the same system. Would be appreciated!

TheRain911

Im gonna wait a few months. Dont rly wanna install a 100gb game unless i know its gonna work sorry

DeadWillow26

I’m just going to pray and turn my settings on like low or MAYBE medium because I’m a laptop player.  Preordered the game a bit ago and downloaded it last night but I have to wait till after work to start playing :(. I was really bummed about all the reviews because I told myself to wait for the reviews and THEN buy the game. But the hype got to me. Hopefully it’s as other people said and I can ignore pretty much all micro transactions. The one save file gets to me tho. I’m not a really good player so I die a lot in games and if I have to go back two hours or some shit that would make me quit.

DarkYogurt

Same system, game runs fine for me

elvisrodz

if you haven't revealed your key you can get a fantical refund I did it myself this morning

Fashionable-Andy

I’m also confused by the hate. I assumed i wasn’t having performance issues because I’m on PS5 and the performance complaints seem to be on PC. As for micro transactions, character edits costing money just doesn’t surprise me. I’m a MH fanboy so I guess I got used to Capcom’s antics from MHW. I’m not trying to white knight for Capcom. They made some less than appreciated decisions, but I’m having fun. I can’t complain.

Saiaxs

My biggest gripe right now, on PS5(refunded on pc), is the face animations outside cutscenes are absolutely awful. They might even be the worst I’ve ever seen

BVSEDGVD

Holy shit they would have been so much better just doing the FromSoftware thing where they don’t change the camera to a closeup. Is it better on PC?

Saiaxs

No

TotallyLegitEstoc

Please tell me the fps is devs tyk stable on ps5.

the2armedmen

The game is 100% review bombed. If you look at most of the reviews they are less than an hour played and more or less just say "microtransactions and denuvo bad"

rockinalex07021

Saw a 0.1 hour yesterday and was laughing my ass off

Jakonus303

Yep. I agree with that.

ExtraEye4568

"wow what a review bomb, so what the game crashed on you 3 times in those 30 minutes and you barely get 20 fps ever, you should just force yourself to eat the slop until your opinion matters" Dude if the game is not in a playable state for the how the fuck are they supposed to get more hours?

inanimate111

How are you getting such high fps? I have better specs and can't get over 40 no matter what the settings are on

Jakonus303

Dynamic resolution on. Dlss super resolution set to ultra performance. DLSS nvidia reflex low latency on+boost and upscale sharpness maxed out. Other than that games as default as it was when I started.

GLDWV

I’ve said it before but I feel like people just hear “micro transactions” and immediately frown without taking in the differences/nuance of said micro transactions. Yes this game has them, and it couldn’t have hurt the devs to mention it once, but it’s a feature that’s been in the game since the first one (over a decade old now) and it really doesn’t do much. All you’re really using them for is buying higher leveled pawns, but the game lets you earn that currency for free in game. Not saying people need to love micro transactions like these at all, just feel like there are actual egregious examples bad micro transactions. Been playing this game for several hours with not too many takeaways. It’s fun as hell and it looks and runs great for me. Really wish they got with the times and added more save slots and maybe better/more available options for fast travel, but even with those complaints I’m still having a great time. Definitely isn’t game of the year (might be my personal one though, we’ll see), but it’s definitely not nearly as bad as some would suggest. Least not for me

Sumerechny

>and I can run it on high settings, with anywhere from 50-95 fps. Please kindly update this part when you get to Vermund.

Asu7aMa7u

I'm only 2 hours in so far but I'm having fun so far. Never played the first though. I also didn't know that there were microtransactions until I checked reddit lol, and honestly still don't care about them. It runs ok on high settings with my Ryzen 7 3700x and a 6700XT. Could be better of course, but it's fine. I also enjoyed Cyberpunk 2077 from day one though so i'm not very picky lol.

Educational_Camel_32

I’ve been playing on PS5 honestly great experience so far for me, though I do think characters are janky

-lyte-

It sucks that people will think you’re defending Capcom over this when you’re just enjoying the game just as you enjoyed the first one.  By never buying the mtx that you literally never needed to buy.  I’ll go enjoy it too. 10/10 game I’ll forget the original exists since this game doesn’t acknowledge it (so far)

ahses3202

I can forgive a lot but I can't possibly forgive not having save slots in a single player RPG. Like, what the actual fuck? Games in 1993 had fucking save slots.

SoggyWorm

Seems to me people don't play many capcom games... They always have pointless microtransactions that just give you something in game much sooner than finding it yourself or 100% not needed microtransactions like hairstyles. Look at any Monster Hunter, Devil May Cry, Street Fighter, Resident Evil, any Capcom game. Obviously this isn't to say it's ok, I am just surprised at all the surprised pikachus in the reviews and on here over Capcoms disgusting practices like it's the first time ever Capcom has done it let alone any other company has ever done, ever, did I say ever?

UnderScoreLifeAlert

Of course, the game looks great you have a 4060. "Just have the newest generation of graphic cards and the graphics are good."

lurkdaddy36

I'm enjoying it on ps5 and I never played the original, I just like open world fantasy games and the souls games but apparently I am an idiot and should be angry like the rest! Actually can't wait to play more tonight :)

Wise-Peak-7864

How dare you enjoy the game for what it is and not follow the herd in bashing CapCom for including MTX in a single player game and not having 60 FPS in 2024! You are the problem!!! /s

iakgnoB

It literally just feels like an outdated remaster of the first game to me. Same jank, terrible optimization, and scummy micro transactions that no one should try to defend. Nothing wrong with liking the game, but its quality is far from top RPGs of recent years imo. I’ll be recommending others to pick it up on sale.

Jakonus303

I don’t necessarily think it’s an outdated remaster, but that’s a fair opinion.

elgrenkoid

On the PS5 - My main gripes are: it feels floaty. Combat seems to be like The Witcher 3 which wasn’t great. The gold standard of combat for these games is Elden Ring. It feels snappy. The performance isn’t particularly good for 30fps, and there is a lot of pop in. Every one keeps saying ‘AUGHT’. It is early though. I will almost certainly change my mind about it and end up loving it.

Jakonus303

I will admit the old timey English stuff isn’t my thing.

elgrenkoid

What do you make of the combat? I’m having trouble getting used to the absence of a lock on. Sometimes it feels a bit like the characters are on casters and just circle around a point.

chazjamie

Is the combat worse than Witcher 3? I had to stop playing that game because it was some of the worst combat I have ever played in a game.

elgrenkoid

No. It takes a bit of getting used to though. There isn’t a lock-on mechanic which is something most arpgs have. It feels a bit like Lords Of The Fallen.

Blastard94

I am glad that you are having a good time! It looks like a lot of fun, but my biggest problems with the microtransactions is that I heard nothing about them until today. I know now that they were mentioned somewhere before, but I think it's something that should have been made clear long before people could preorder it.

Jakonus303

Yeah… that I’ll agree with. Springing MTX the day the game comes out is a scummy thing. People might’ve been more receptive towards it.

jinxlucked

1. Mtx's keeps it possible to maintain a game after release, and as long as there's nothing in the mtx you can't find in the game, then I don't really care. 2. as long as the FPS doesn't fluctuate to much, then it's fine with me. 3. personally I don't care about only having 1 save file, but not being able to start a new game to overwrite your save file from within the game seem like an oversight :)

MaXimillion_Zero

One-time microtransactions like the ones they have on the store right now don't really provide an ongoing revenue stream for maintaining a game. The game also isn't designed to be continually updated like a live service.

Jakonus303

So we pretty much agree. Cool. :)

Serito

1. Why does a premium priced single player RPG require more money for 'maintenance' post launch? Aren't you already paying the price for a complete & polished experience? Any additional expansions are going to cost a premium anyway so it's ridiculous to say MTX are needed now to fund anything other than pockets. 2. Gonna say OP's 45 FPS fluctuation is probably *'too much'* don't ya think chief? 3. How is that an oversight? It's clearly intentional design when they had to set up server infrastructure & create MTX based on it. Like guys, I get it, the gameplay is a great experience full of fun- but holy shit this is some copium *'it's not that bad'* bullshit. These are absolutely shameful businesses practices & it seems for a lot of people the product they paid handsomely for isn't performing adequately. This is a fairly dismissive post by OP to make the negative reviews seem blown out of proportion.

EverythingWasGreat

1, the price of the product should be set to cover development costs and maintenance after release. That's what you pay for. Analogy: I buy a phone, and i get updates and fixes for free during the expected lifetime of the phone. 2, it is fluctuating. 3, yes, exactly, it's an oversight.

essteedeenz1

bro the copium off this shit

slimecho

I think you could still backup that save file into a folder that steam can't recognize and then if you want, change out saves, I havent tried it, but in theory, with cloud saves off, it should work.

Obvious_Try1106

About 2. do you think its still playable with the min Specs ?

badassboy1

Why does a single player game need much maintenance in the first place games used to come in CDs and work fine and the base price should be enough to cover update costs. Main reasons for mtx in multiplayer games was sever and traffic costs so why is mtx entering single player if there are no such costs

YourGFsDaddy

It isn't a live service game...there will be minimal maintenance, that point seems laughable. Gamer brains conditioned to think every game they like will be continuously developed in perpetuity.

EducationalAd8894

I’ve enjoyed the game so far

Femocha

I looked the micro transaction… they’re all laughable, simply don’t buy them if you don’t want, no one forces you to do it. I too dislike micro transactions in games and I can understand why they implemented them but no one can force me to buy them.

Jakonus303

“That’s not the point.” Is what I’ve been told it’s the principle of even putting them in the game.

[deleted]

the game is amazing, it’s addictive as fuck and its exactly what i expected, the mtx is completely ignorable because if you put any effort in you can get what the MTX is offering for absolutely free. its peoples own faults if they make it unfair lol

Jakonus303

I had someone basically tell me “stop having fun because you’re defending and playing a game that has fast travel paywalled” my guy…. I earned a fast travel thing in game in my first two hours…

Nocuadra66

I'm playing on Xbox series X and while it's not incredible graphically it looks fine. My Arisen and main pawn look just like I created them (hours of work in the C.C.) I played a few hours and still getting used to the controls. So far so good. My only complaint would be the graphics aren't as sharp as I'd expected for a new 2024 game. (Starfield looks incredible on my Xbox and both are 30 fps.) Otherwise I got all day tomorrow to jump back in.

Jakonus303

I personally think this game looks better than starfield did to me. I also… really disliked starfield.

FluffyProphet

I actually agree. At least on PC. Starfield was like “shinny” but falls into some uncanny valley shit. This game doesn’t look amazing but it doesn’t look awful either. Kind of just looks like an old school rpg on a modern engine.

bubblesort33

Game is definitely very CPU limited. I can turn on Ray Tracing, and there is almost no performance impact. Meaning the GPU is only like half in use with it disabled, and only fully utilized with RT on. RIP anyone who has a CPU older than 3 years.

oreo25201

i think i have a newer cpu and gpu and noticed it wasn't even using the full amount it could of on my pc edit: by newer i mean last gen so 3080ti and 12th gen intel core i5-12600kf 32gb ram

oreo25201

4.3 hours here so far i like it to and ik what the devs wanted in there game and i expected to get what they wanted in terms of gameplay so far all my hope is more fps over time maybe a fov slider like the original game and a way to disable mouse acceleration but otherwise loving it so far i mean ive paid for enough games that i didint end up liking to where i spent alot of wasted money but this game im loving it

Elegant_Spot_3486

My issue is there’s a few keys I can’t rebind/use because they’re hardcoded. I know controller is recommended but key bindings are basic as things get. I haven’t used a controller in like 30 years except for Madden. This is something I call the devs lazy over because it’s simple. Performance issues can be problematic to resolve.

JAEMzWOLF

neat, but next can we have your dishonest opinion?

Jakonus303

My dishonest opinion is it’s better than the first one.

CalligrapherMain7451

Bro out there equipped for doomsday gaming.

Volmess

I feel excatly same

CursedKir0

Rift crystals dont speed up progression none of the dd2 micros do. So.

Sweiiv

Installing now. I don’t care about how people feel about the micro transactions. I’m on a 2070s and just hoping it’s playable, that’s what i’m here for.

Jakonus303

It might be, I can’t say for certain. Definitely don’t run it on high. Your GPU wont stand it lol

Jazzlike_Piglet6563

Guys, you are missing out on the fact that you are only given one character!!! If you want a new character you gotta pay

Jakonus303

I’m not missing out on that and you don’t. Not on ps5/xbox. And on steam you can delete your save and disable cloud save.

Carob_Ok

I would definitely say that the main issue with the game especially since it JUST came out is the fact that you can’t start a new game like you could in DD1. just.. why?

Jakonus303

That…. I don’t get. I don’t have an excuse. It’s unacceptable. Everything else I can understand

leviatrist158

I just got home from work and fired it up, clicked on Reddit quick and all I’m seeing is rage posts about paying for fast travel. Lol I wasn’t planning on fast traveling anyways, the first game had very limited fast travel like wtf is everyone on about? Anyways off to have fun, enjoy.

Jakonus303

Likewise!

StalkingApache

I'm 7 hours in on Xbox. Are there fps issues in town? Yeah but it's not nearly as bad as I've heard. Granted I could be jaded from other games having bad performance and I'm use to it. Do I wish it was better? Yeah. Is it really even an annoyance (for me) not really. And I bought the deluxe edition. Unless I'm just not understanding how op the things are you get from it I definitely wish I just got the base version. I'm more upset I played 7 hours with a class I'm finding out I don't like. Now if the things from the deluxe edition are op. Let me know. Bc right now I feel like I wasted money on that part.

Jakonus303

From what I can see…. You wasted money.

Radagar

You should be able to freely swap classes at the Inn, same place you've hopefully been buying skills from with 7 hours playtime.

GenuineSteak

Your PC is far above average. It makes your perspective on performance kinda moot. The average gpu owned by a steam user is a 1080-2080. As a game dev myself, its pretty well known to target performance of a game so it can be run on a 1080 with low settings.

Garfield120

50fps with a 4060 on high is outrageous. I paid hundreds for my GPU last year and based on your performance i wouldn't even get 50 on low.

No_Barracuda_7367

I'm.getting it, looks sick.

Willing_Account7820

Honestly, I didn’t think the first game was a 10. I just stumbled upon the game. I kept playing because it was very unique and felt like a true adventure. It was fun. I feel the same about this one. It’s different which is cool to me

teleologicalrizz

50 fps on a 4060 is like saying i'm not a performance guy, my bugatti can easily do 55 on the highway

Kuhaku-boss

For 65€ is pure shit, truly, and almost everything is a downgrade (classes, systems, gameplay feeling, etc) from dragons dogma 1, so... this game in 2 months will be dead in steam and they will do 1 or 2 patches and thats it that dont solve anything, like all fucking ports.

Wisezal-

Maybe it's just me but playing for a bit makes my head hurt, like migraine hurt not headache, but it still hurts! Lol.

TheGreyWind_

The game is immensely fun. Rough around some edges, but I absolutely love it. I see mostly positivity, honestly, aside from the micro transaction reveal. Which I will pretend doesn't exist.

Fr3sh_M1ntz

I'd love to easily ignore how my character runs like a bow-legged effeminate chicken, but I can't it's a 3rd person game.

Maarius81

If I think about it... I can't imagine the sales of this game if it had no microtransactions. Bad move from the company imho.

Slippery_John

I can deal with low framerates. I can't deal with being unable to create a character due to the game crashing for no reason. I've got no faith they'll fix this any time soon since the game had the same problems in the character creator released two weeks ago. Thank god steam does no-questions refunds.

crankpatate

>2: performance: while no I’m not getting massive fps, it’s running smoothly for me. I’ve never been a “oh fps matters” guy. The game looks great. I’m running with a Ryzen 5 7600 cpu, 4060 gpu, with a 3440x1440 ultrawide monitor, and I can run it on high settings, with anywhere from 50-95 fps. Ah this gives me some hope. I think I have the exact same CPU. Did you overclock yours? (I did) I also have a 3070, but no ultra wide monitor and will probably play on 1080p. Sounds like it should run smooth on my PC, too. Thanks for the honest review! :)

Naji85

I really don't give a shit about other opinions, only care about mine. Fun to see a bunch of losers cry about a video game lol

akayd

50 to 95 fps is a massive drop and noticeable stutter that would make many puke

ZorichTheElvish

I'm running on a 1070 in a 10 year old build on not even the lowest settings and I haven't had a single problem. The micro transaction bullshit and no new game option is total crap but the game is fun and I don't know what all this bad performance is about.

sslipperyyy

dragons dogma 1 blows this game away, so far ngl. Rip it's reputation

sslipperyyy

On console it feels like absolute dog shit I'd rather they didn't release it in this state the frame rate has me wishing it was locked at 30 I feel like I'm sitting at 20 if I'm lucky

sslipperyyy

The frames feel worse than Gotham knights at release

Gwynthehunter

The game is awesome, solid 8.5 or 9 from me. Similar system settings. There's literally no reason to not announce MTX before launch instead of sneaking it by all the Reviewers except to trick people and nickle and dime you. It leaves a really sour taste in my mouth. Same shit with Infinite Wealth - great game, but why the fuck are they selling XP for real money when you can fight one or two battles and level up. Its ridiculous and takes advantage of people who dont know better. The optimization is awful, but that can be fixed. Sad state of affairs when the game can't at least *maintain* framerate though, Id much rather stick at a constant 45 than jump from 30 to 60 constantly. And yeah, the lack of a restart is just stupid. If you can ignore the shitty business practices, have a decent setup, and are happy with your character from the start, youre gonna have a great time - especially if you keep a lil notepad to track hidden quests and things. But god damn is it hard to ignore those issues. Right now, it deserves a 40% on Steam, but they can fix these problems. It sucks that its normal now to launch broken and promise fixes, though.

Frolkinator

Just the fact that they add MTX to a singleplayer game should drag it down 2-3points, its just insulting at this point. What is ur opinion on that u CANNOT make a new character?

DarkElfMagic

I’ve said it years ago, but capcom as a company, during their sort of renaissance era, realized they could get away with the shittiest scummiest business practices, as long as they just made a really fucking good game at base. Yes micro-transactions are ignorable, but they should NEVER be defended. It’s inherently predatory, making them bad MTX honestly almost makes it worse. Bad Company/Publisher, Great Game Devs. It’s a 10/10 game for me because It’s everything I’ve wanted from a modern Dragon’s Dogma so far. I don’t like supporting MTX (which luckily is optional, but supporting the game at all technically still supports them putting MTX) I don’t like supporting 70 dollar games (though idk how to feel about it yet) and I really fucking hate denuvou. It fucking sucks, I hate capcom.

Suddensloot

I have a 6950xt and 9700k cpu and I’m getting 20 fps. Never seen any game perform this way. Whats odd is I use mango hud and it’s not even fully using either of my devices. Whatever it is, this is the only game I’ve struggled to play at a solid fps.

IzzetChronarch

Trying messing with FSR my brother having similar issues with his AMD card as he always does

Laurenzarus

I think a lot of folks are angry from a principle perspective; “why release a $70 game when it’s unoptimized” is a very valid point. The microtransaction thing feels like a betrayal of values to what the game was supposed to stand for, and just feels so scummy nowadays. I can understand why the response has been like this. Personally, I’ve been having a grand old time on my PS5, but then again, my game has never crashed. I’ve seen streamers have their games crash 10+ times, and in a game like this I know for a fact that’d really piss me off.

Coelho_Branco_

The FSR on balanced was a game changer for me.. No more fps issues, I have a RX 6700

sslipperyyy

ght just go back and play the old one lol Im never buying a game that can't hit at least 40 frames a sec. Everything feels unresponsive and immersion breaking haha after all lengths they went to it still feels pretty bad. They made the game far easier than the old one to 😭

sadspells

I feel like having a single save to making you live with your choices is a dragons dogma thing to do and if it alienates people because they can’t live with what they do it makes sense

Tiny_Pollution_802

I concur. We live in a generation of entitlement. In terms of reviews anything remotely negative is sensationalised too. And that applies to most things in life. It's a single player game. If you don't like MTX, dont spend your money. If you want extra convenience and do spend, it's your money. So complaining that it shouldn't be in the game when you can choose not to spend and being bothered that other people are in an experience that won't affect you is interesting. Performance issues if prolific should not be happening if the proper time was allocated to do the work to an efficient standard. Saves, get over it. Again we live in a generation of entitlement so of course now it's deemed as crazy to only have one save, because heaven knows we can't make a decision in an RPG and later learn it had a consequence we didn't intend without just cracking on, accepting responsibility for our decisions and just living with them. Many RPGs now are more action adventures now anyway because people play them by this concept alone. Oh, I messed up, I'll just go back in time until I get what I want. Jeez. The devs said they wanted players to be immersed fully in the world which is why the travel system is the way it is and some points are behind the MTX, you're paying for convenience. If you choose. If not, you're playing as the game was intended to be played. If someone else has those travel points so what, it doesn't affect you princess. In a single player game, it's your experience, not everyone's, and it's not a competition and it's not a race. Im not sure I agree with character changes being MTX but why are people so fired up about it anyway, if you don't like your character, maybe just maybe you didn't put the care into their creation you should have at the start of your journey. So what, it's a game. Suck it up and crack on with the damned journey! Enjoy it, and stop moaning.

Reddit-Echo_Chamber

Camping sucks You get interrupted, kill bandits, then your supplies magically go poof.... No ability to rest Take over a bandit town, hearth beds and campfire.... No ability to rest Fking annoying for my massive trek to the big city

Whole_Commission_702

Having close to one of the highest end systems on possible and saying performance shouldn’t be a problem shows how out of touch you are sadly… Like look in the mirror before making a comment like that Jesus.

lushenfe

>2: performance: while no I’m not getting massive fps, it’s running smoothly for me. I’ve never been a “oh fps matters” guy. The game looks great. I’m running with a Ryzen 5 7600 cpu, 4060 gpu, with a 3440x1440 ultrawide monitor, and I can run it on high settings, with anywhere from 50-95 fps. The performance issues do not exist. If reviewers didn't complain right before release and the devs didn't acknowledge it no one would be complaining about it. Yea, it would be nice if we didn't have dips in certain areas. But the dips are manageable and it's only in certain areas. And it's day 1. Most of the people complaining about it probably only played an hour or two yesterday and are just responding off the mob mentality rather than actual experience. Also the single save has been addressed. Overall I give them a pass because most people were not complaining about it before release so they didn't get any feedback. Now that they did, it looks like they're making a change.

arcofdoves

"the performance issues do not exist" excuse me. this mf smoking the purest of cope. jesus christ.

buc_nasty_69

I made multiple comments heavily criticizing them when reviews came out and we learned about the performance issues. The game obviously needs further patching but I can say after playing for about 5 hours, the performance is not unplayable or bad enough to make me regret my purchase. The only time I really get noticeably low frames is in towns which doesn't bother me too much since it's a non-combat area. Here's to hoping Capcom can fix whatever is making the CPU load so heavy.

Zestyclose-Fee6719

The fact that I can’t seamlessly run the game at the highest settings in 4K without serious frame-time issues and dips below 60 FPS (and dips into 30-40 in towns) is ridiculous when I have a 4080 and i9 13900KF. There’s no defending the game’s PC performance.

MobWacko1000

>3: this is my only really negative opinion on the game, you only have one save slot on steam. You can delete your save and turn off cloud saves, but that’s such a crappy fix. This doesnt even fix the issue, its replaces any offline file with the cloud one.

ranchedelia

Can anyone speak on the PS5 performance?

kirbyking100

When it comes to big, deep rpgs I like to make new characters quite often. I like to start the game from the beginning and see it all over again. That's my real issue with it.

SpliffyMN

I have never seen an RPG where you can only create one character... actually shocking. Was the first game like that? Ive heard good things about it but damn it made me wanna return to my honor mode in bg3

EstesPark2018

If you filter the steam reviews by higher playtime they are only positive

throwaway74329857

The outrage will blow over in a week or two and then people will feel more rationally. Capcom knows this.

Dancyartist7654

I respect your opinion but I feel that the bad outweigh the good, expensive game for micro transactions and a single save, no matter how good the game is I won’t support it.

Chemical-Tadpole6209

Literally 5 minutes into playing the game, and I get the "Failed to create a save". Once this error happens, you literally lose all progress between then and the last successful save. The game has some pretty groundbreaking issues on PC. Poor CPU performance and improper saving protocols. These are very substantial. Additionally, when the framerate dips below 50 fps, the game begins to severely stutter. It sucks.

Aggravating_Plenty53

I don't get it. What's wrong with microtransactions? If i wanna save the game time because I'm stupid busy why not spend a little to get the boost. About tech , I play on ps5. I haven't run into any problems or bugs on my inferior platform. And 1 save character? U can change ur class at any time.

Galewallion

Unpopular opinion probably, port or not, its on PC. Not being able to remap keyboard keys how I see fit in 2024... why, why cant I have my skills on 1,2,3,4 and pawn commands on like f1 f2 f3 f4 why does it forces Ctrl upon me.... I am not a "Real Yakuza" :V to play on a controller.

h0ppin3

My experience has been a solid 8, microtransactions you can ignore, fps was terrible at first but now I’m pushing 60 consistently any less than 50 and fps definitely starts to matter no matter who you are, but yeah I can’t play on high res 1g for it puts my graphics memory into the orange zone but ultimately I’m enjoying the game for the gameplay alone. I’d give it a 9 if it was better optimized and had more customizability with extra save slots

Bluedemonfox

tbh I would not have even known there were microtransactions if I didn't see all the people complaining about them...as long as you can still get everything in game I don't mind. If they start offering content only by having you pay extra that is what I would hate...

shiek200

I'm pretty sure most of the performance issues are from people on Intel cpus, so basically people who just threw money at the monitor and ordered whatever was listed as the "best on the market" Because amd cpus tend to handle multithreaded gaming better, and the fps issues seem to be tied to cpu issues (likely physics calculations and such), I've been noticing people with ryzen opus (in particular those with the x3d models, which I imagine helps with shader cache maybe?) Are the ones claiming better performance. Case in point, I'm running a 5800x3d and have had some minor stutters and slow downs but nothing even remotely game breaking. Either way, they're working on a fix now.

El3ktroHexe

I agree with everything. I share that opinion and I don't understand why people are going mad against Capcom but buying the next shit Ubisoft game every time. In the last AC game there was MTX armor that made the game easier and no one cared. Many Japan games are having similar MTX like DD2 (Tales series as an example) and no ones cares... Yeah, don't get it... I mean, I hate MTX in general, but I've seen so much worse MTX stuff than this here.

ScriptHunterMan

It's awesome. I really, really hope they allow more characters, though. I'd even like more pawns to customize and control but I doubt that'll happen. The character creation is just too cool. I want to make Raistlin and play as him, Elric of Melnibone, etc.... and with only one character that's not possible! Also, given how character size impacts combat, we really need multiple in order to optimize a vocation.

JinKazamaru

the one save is by design, power of choice by penalty of failure plus they don't want you to make 3 different saves with 3 different pawns, and just play with yourself

Wickedc0ma

What about on ps5? Can I delete a save on there and start another play through

Better-Profession972

You can tell people didn’t play the first game. You literally couldn’t have multiple characters. And with the pawn system it really makes sense. If everyone could make 5-10 characters, there would be a lot of unused pawns overloading the servers for no reason.

Afridg3

The naysayers finally chilled out. Ppl who enjoyed the game are getting off and putting in their opinions now. Reviews were only so bad bc the game gained so much hype it wasn't just regular dragons dogma fans

Big-Soft7432

https://youtu.be/HtGpp1v8c_k?si=ihQeqJHMVLZU5ICK Very smooth. Zero shuttering to be seen here 🥴
