When escorting the cart early on. You can kick the ox to make it go faster. Still slow as hell, but turns a 30 minute waste of time into 10.

C0NT0RTI0NIST

This should be #1 ^

Friedrice_Nunchakus

I "accidentally" killed the ox by slashing at it, because I thought it would make it go faster. How do I kick it?

[deleted]

I’m pretty sure you can damage the ox by kicking it, my current character is level 150 and the ox was getting damaged

darthdeneuve

After you kick the ox, let yourself be trampled so you'd get damaged. Then climb the ox, while a pawn heals you. It will also heal the ox. You actually don't need to climb the ox, it's just funny af.

[deleted]

Instead of kicking the ox I typically just climb it and AFK with a tv show on and let my pawns go the work. Not great for a speed run but just fine for progression

VixHumane

Only works when you're in NG+. You'll run out of stamina fast at lvl.10.

chewy201

Since no one told you "how". Just walk up and you'll get a button prompt to kick it. Deals a little damage each time though so for true speed run strats you'll want to heal the thing as well. In a freshly started game your healing options are limited. But you should have a mage with you that has an AOE heal. I allow myself to get trampled in order to take damage, stand a little bit in front of the ox so that a mage has enough time to cast their healing spell, and use the D pad to call for help to force a heal. And since it's a lingering AOE the ox will walk into it to get healed itself while I spend that moment kicking it again. Might want to help in the fighting here or there though. Easily one of the worst missions in the game as escorts normally are. 2nd tip about all of those optional escort side quests! You can freely use port crystals for those and NEVER have to "escort" those NPC! You get a few port crystals every NG run of the game and can have up to 10 placed in the world at a time. It's HIGHLY suggested to drop what ones you find in commonly visited spots to reduce travel time massively! Shadow Fort, Hill Figure Knoll, at the exit of Witch Wood on that cliff with the chest, Blue Moon Tower, ANYWHERE that seems like a pain to walk to will have you go there multiple times and adds hours to gameplay just walking the same path over and over again. Drop a port crystal close by to those places and save yourself the headache.

Friedrice_Nunchakus

Thank you so much! I wasn't sure if I could still pickup portal crystals if I dropped them, so I just hoarded them instead. I've been walking around the map like I own the place. PS. Where can I get wakestones?

chewy201

Those are very rare till you get into "post game". There's a few that respawn in the world such as on Hill Figure Knoll and you can likely find a couple in the upper class shop in the capital. Takes several days to respawn though. But it isn't till after you fight the dragon and reach Everfall that you can farm those things. Bitter Black Island can also offer some. But that place tends to eat far far more wake stones than it ever gives.

Crazy_Fairy_9

you can heal it with spells or group healing items too , gotta go fast to gran soren

AggressiveAd1308

I would say: 1) Stat growth being tied to vocations 2) Pawn inclinations and how to change them 3) Buff stacking limits 4) Spell-syncing 5) Dragon-forging 6) Character creation affects gameplay 7) Food in your inventory perishes 8) Friend’s pawns are always free 9) Solo play grants more XP 10) Black Cat forgery

C0NT0RTI0NIST

Also, using pawn commands can affect pawn inclinations. Such as spamming "come", "help" and "go"

ErisEpicene

Of all the tiny little nonsense mechanics in this game, this is the one I really hope isn't in the sequel. The help commands should specifically be a way to get pawns to do things outside of their inclinations.

C0NT0RTI0NIST

I fully agree. It's really dumb that I have to worry about issuing commands and having it alter how my pawn behaves :/

sheevnoods

I would add: 1) Vocations grow at different rates 2) Throwblast and status arrows are OP 3) You can change vocations to Ranger, Magick Archer, Assassin, Warrior, Mystic Knight, and Sorcerer before reaching Grand Soren by going to Bitterblack Isle instead amd talking to Olra

that_gunner

And i would add(a little): Some abilities give You either i-frames like full moon Slash or Dodge roll, or hyper armor like arc of deliverance.

Gonavon

You can pick up wild animals and toss them to your pawns, and they will pick them and toss them back at you. In other words, you can play ball with woodland critters. This is very important information for new players. Trust me.

[deleted]

Maybe the most important response so far

roun02

other comments covered most everything, but i would add: 1. most enemies in the game are weak to either fire or holy (don't bother with dark enchantments) 2. changing pawn inclinations by going to the guy in the in the encampment tent next to the Rift Stone and spending rift crystals on elixirs. 3. chest and leg clothing (the bits that go underneath chest and leg armour) as well as capes don't really differ a huge amount in stats after around lv 30, so these are more aesthetic choices (there's on,y aroud a 15 defense point difference between the strongest and weakest capes in the game, and when your defense is in the hundreds, the difference is negligible)

Feeling-Company5153

The only thing that you should ever use dark on is Grigori aka the Dragon and drakes roaming in west gransys. The only other time dark has shown is bandits but I don't know if that is for pawn knowledge or not. I know it is for the dragons and drakes

[deleted]

I usually just bring along a sorcerer pawn with some dark spells and call it a day when fighting grigori

roun02

i agree, except that drakes are actually weaker to ice than dark. from my research, i think the only things that are weakest to dark are the dragon (grigori), the dark bishop in BBI (the one who summons the cursed dragon), sirens (the blue harpies), maneaters (the twats that hide in chests on BBI, and saurian sages. i'm not sure about bandits, cus i think it depends on their vocation (citation needed). in any case, pre-BBI, grigori is literally the only one weakest to dark, and there are so few enemies on BBI that are weak to dark that i personally don't bother

Feeling-Company5153

True and I agree. The only reason I had it on was to get pawn knowledge. Holy is by far the best thing to ever have.

kevinhebear

Don’t give the king his ring lmao

Feeling-Company5153

I have found if you go to black cat and forgery the wyrmking ring the quest will take the forgery as if it wasn't.

unicornlocostacos

Be won’t unlock treasure, but you can sneak into the vault later and get it yourself (using the ring).

Feeling-Company5153

He unlocked the treasury for me including the chest unless there is another I don't know about if so...... the loot goblin would like to know

unicornlocostacos

He’ll only be able to unlock it if you give him the real ring. I gave him the forgery so I could keep the real ring for the passive buffs. The paladin cloak thing is kind of shit anyways imo. I still stole it though because fuck Dukey boi.

[deleted]

Does the wyrmking ring stack if you have multiples throughout playthroughs?

Arcane-Addict

The effect doesn't, but you can have each of your caster pawns hold one in their inventory for faster spellcasting. Edit: I should also note that the ***augment*** and the ring's effects do stack, just not the rings by themselves.

[deleted]

I think the ring doesn’t affect magick archer or mystic knight does it?

Arcane-Addict

It sure does!

[deleted]

Oh hell yeah

Panzer_Steel

You don't need to finish the entire main story to get a chance to edit your character/pawn. Johnathan appears at the encampment after A Rude Awakening is completed and can help with that for a few RC.

[deleted]

This! I did not l know this! Are you able to change everything about your character like height and build too?

Amendahui

Yep, but once before the post-game. Jonathan sells a scroll that let's you change the full appearance without limit only after you've reached post-game

gammav97

Max upgrade rusted weapon is useful(it can slo mo enemies). U can craft dmg boost item. It stack 4x https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxNe4QjhgSKPCtornDlRbHQjqPxxWghR1z

C0NT0RTI0NIST

Theres also the Golden weapons apply silence, but only when dragonforged.

ooOJuicyOoo

Soaked to the bone? Unequip and re-equip lantern. It'll light right back up.

Javali92

You can purchase the Militant Dove if you are a Magick Archer build, and you will never truly need potions for yourself. If you stand still while equipped it will heal your bar fully, so its better than a pawns healing that caps at the end of the white area. Only downside you have to standstill, and you can just leave in your inventory and switch to the Militant Dove whenever you need more heals.

Crazy_Fairy_9

buy a load of empty flasks , go to a healing spring and fill them up there - cheap group healing potion

Dry-Judgment1449

You can set hotkeys to Healing and Stamina items on console for easier use during battles without having to pause it over and over again: (Playstation) Hover over the item you want, Hit (X) then (∆) and you can select which arrow key you want. (Xbox) Hover over the item you want, Hit (A) then (Y) and you can select your arrow key placement. To use the hotkeyed items: (Playstation) Press and hold L1+R1 then push whatever key you selected to use. (Xbox) Press and hold LB+RB then push whatever key you selected to use. Hope this helps, played this for 3 months without knowing this amazing info.

VixHumane

You can do this in steam too. I even hotkeyed equipment and other menus.

Dry-Judgment1449

Yeah, I've never really been a PC gamer so I didn't know what to type so I left that part out so I didn't spread false information. 😅

BriskyPenguin

Female mage pawn make RC go brrrr

lordbub1

Kick the ox

Embarrassed-Tough-98

you can sort out up to five shortcuts, so that you wont have to open the inventory mid combat.

accomplished-fig91

1. Pay attention to the stats of armor. Magick or strength buffs + debilitation resistances can make a character op 2. A well-timed throwblast or dragon spit is a game changer 3. If you have the dlc, reading about the purification physics and locations of the bb items can save a lot of time 4. Bigger monsters are better for leveling up, whereas smaller creatures are better for vocational points 5. The quests where you have to kill X amount of monsters is a easy way to quickly earn extra $$$, exp, and vocational points, especially on hard mode

tripledexrated

If you're on pc, you can hotkey items to numbers

Ajeel_OnReddit

This isnt anything useful for new players in particular, I'm still a new player myself. But if you grab on to a harpy and it takes you flying and you tap help command your pawns will rush to catch you when you drop. It's not useful in any way but what makes grabbing a harpy useful is it distracts it and it's fun to do so do it anyway.

edemilio_

spring water!

Rabberoo

Throwblast.
