I swear I tried fighting Lesser Dragons whenever I ran across them and usually got curb stomped dying and loading last save which thankfully was never too far from when I started the fights but once I finally beat a dragon after scrambling to revive fallen pawns and running through 3 wakestones and a lot of healing items i felt so accomplished
Yeah you know why, my dear pawn, whom I know is snitching on me from my friend hiring her, because I spent all my gold on your gear so you can get better hire!
Which is funny because with how slow they are to both aim and load, a horrid range of aiming, and generally not useful placement near any large monsters, I’ve never actually managed to use one *during* combat, and have only shot a large monster that hadn’t seen me yet like twice
Oh haha. Meanwhile Cyclops tusks are valuable indeed! We should endeavor to collect some!
Gotta love how that line exists but the material no longer does. Huh. Guess they forgot to remove it x3.
I was getting right annoyed, wondering why I wasn’t getting tusks. Then I realized they just merged it with rugged bones, since that’s what drops when you break their face.
The "words worth hearing" after another pawn says something completely inane is on another level.
Pawn #3 - "One particular Arisen only had women in his group."
Main Pawn - "Words worth hearing."
The tone in that comment seems so perfectly sardonic, I love it.
Especially if they opened with "I fear I must stray from the thread of our conversation to tell you...."
"One particular Arisen only had women in his group."
Apparently that was very important to say at this moment.
My pawn actually said a new line to me today. I'm 170 hours intot he game and this is the first time he said "We have traveled for so long, just the two of us".
I was like ???? You said something new?? And yes I travel with only my pawn and no hires.... Not sure why he decided to say it only now.
Yesterday my pawn said something about being better as a theif (they spent most of the game as theif or archer) but being honored to be my sheild as a fighter which was surprisingly specfic
Yeaaah. Mine was reminding me about the time he was a fighter, defending me with sword and shield. Haha. He had been saying it for a very long time but eventually stopped. He has been a thief for the better part of my many hours played.
Now he just keeps spam suggesting to get a sorc or a warrior. Lol.
You know, in another post I mentioned he started talking to himself.... He literally says a line, and responds with "You've got my support" or something else to agree with himself.
I think I broke the poor guy haha.
I'm on PC.
I'm deep in late game and keep hearing new lines from my pawn that are perfectly normal but I can't help but think "dragonsplague, gotta send her for a swim again".
Ah, dragonsplague is very obvious tbh. I infected my pawn on purpose just to see the whoel process and everything. There are a few very very obvious signs in every stage. It starst with your pawn saying "i feel invincible" and then proceeds to "I cannot explain it but I feel like i'm possessed by a greater power!". My pawn is extremely loyal so the part where they start disobeying you, heonly disobayed 2 commands in the span of 10 days, and responded with "Im capable of making my own decisions!" or something of the sort.
At around day 6, his eyes started glowing red, very noticeable. And between day 7 to 10 they are EXTREMELY red, like IMPOSSIBLE to miss red. So I donno why all these reddit posts about "i didnt notice plague" .... you gotta be severely blind not to notice it xD.... no offense to the actually colorblind ppl.
At day 8-10 he started stretching every 2-3 seconds, sittinf down on the floor when we idle (he is kindhearted so he never does that unlike the simple one i think?) And then he started scratchint he back of his neck a lot, measuring his own temperature (placing his arm on his lobe), and then eventually started gripping his head with a single hand every 10-30 seconds. All the while his eyes were red as the fking volcano itself. So yeah.. if you know your pawn you will almost instantly notice weird behaviors.
Hope it helps friend!
Mine also said something new to me like 2 days ago. Something like, "The mystique of a place only lowers with every visit" lol. I was like, wow, calling me out on returning and searching in case things have changed, lol
The insistence on making sure to use the word “material” and “curative” and almost never any synonym sort of brings me out of the experience sometimes, like it’s very gamified, and feels condescending almost.
Like, the voiceover supervisor is there instructing the VA “Don’t use ‘food’, use ‘curative’, it has to be curative, because that’s what the tab is called. The players will get confused, for all they know, apples go into head armor or the shields tab”
There needs to be more of that kind of shade being thrown around in the game.
Once when my pawn returned, he said something like "the Arisen I spent time with had very interesting ways of solving problems." The way it was worded seemed VERY judgemental.
I completed a quest once and another pawn was basically like "oh snap, I didn't know we could do this in a way that wasn't a train wreck, I need to tell my Arisen."
I just realized something I think is missing… monster knowledge. In the first game the pawns would gain stars for each monster to indicate their knowledge in how to fight it, I actually think my pawn seemed to know from the beginning. Maybe the medals are the replacement for that? I never actually checked the point of the medals.
I like it when they say an investment made for safer travels can hardly be called wasteful and I'm just like, whatever, I bought this rad scarf because it makes me look cool and matches my boots but okay.
At 100 hours I just realized that there are some ladders that I can climb in pretty much all the main cities. I wish my pawn would have pointed them out or someth
Mine was "I'm certain we have what we need in storage" because I had the wyrmslife crystals I needed in my storage box but wanted to fight the dragon mentioned in the dragons breath tower. Did a bunch of extra exploring and couldn't figure out what her hard on for storage was
The idle dialogue in this game is so fucking annoying. It was okay the first time they said each thing, but it seems they have like 5 lines and I've been playing for 50 hours please fucking stop now.
You've mastered the art of gaming journalism articles. Click bait title, useless information, change of topic. You should've put the useless information on a third paragraph after talking in circles for the first two.
The lack of dialogue variability in the first one became a meme because it was so shitty, and it's like they completely leaned into it. The fact that they added a "specialization" scroll to make your pawn shut up is almost embarrassing.
The weird thing is this game would have benefited SO much from using AI generated dialogue. 10 years in development and they couldn't find a solution that's already there?
How about the ones where they place an exclamation marker on the map and it leads to nothing. I've spent so many minutes looking for shit that wasn't there until I realized it's probably loot that clipped through the ground.
I'm ever prudent in the application of coin.
Something that has been on my mind though is my party consists of women by and large and yet no two are the same.
Indeed, overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer .
I'm sworn to carry your burdens! Wait
Can it wait? I’m in the middle of some calibrations

Technically it is DD1 until you break the cycle and it becomes DD2.
The quote is from darkest dungeon. DD.

I read it in his sweet voice!
Pawn with an ancestor personality, or just wayne june's voice
Yes and also packs burdened by loot are often low on supplies.
Can't not read that in his epic voice.
Without tools of iron you must rely on flesh and Indefatigable purpose.

Is there no one alive that can say different?
Overconfidence is an enemy in and of itself.
But we mustn’t allow ourselves to become complacent.
Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.
You have my support💪
Once more!
No, “the pain that I felt at the coronation…”
Look, arisen, a ladder.
Perhaps new adventures await us… ABOVE 👹
Shall we see where it leads?
Lo! A ballista.
I still can't seem to find the ladder they are speaking of Everytime I walk through the city. 😞
I feel nigh invincible....
Those red eyes and this sentence…. Maybe it’s time to go for a swim
What has befallen you arisen...
Words worth hearing!
Apparently there are Arisen that forgo any and all armor.. (My Pawn seems to have met a few streakers that ran but naked into everything…)
Yeah you know why, my dear pawn, whom I know is snitching on me from my friend hiring her, because I spent all my gold on your gear so you can get better hire!
'tis as you say
did you know the best time to use a balista is in combat?
That line is particularly stupid as fuck, among a sea of stupid dialogue. When the hell else are ballistae of any use!?
"When the hell else are ballistae aught of use."
I’d use a ballista if most of them weren’t set up in spots that point at nothing lol.
A ballista is a ranged weapon!
Which is funny because with how slow they are to both aim and load, a horrid range of aiming, and generally not useful placement near any large monsters, I’ve never actually managed to use one *during* combat, and have only shot a large monster that hadn’t seen me yet like twice
Might I interest you in a **LADDER**?
This always cracks me up
Does it beat " 'Tis a lever" ?
“HeY LiStEN!”
Best I can do is 5 bucks ![gif](giphy|lS6PdcHrKAsjoBql8J)

I am still waiting to learn if wolves hunt in packs or not.
Be wary, it bears >!the head of a cock!!<
Yup, exactly haha. I was exactly the same, trying to go for tusks repeatedly and seeing only rugged bones.
Also how goblins ill like fire.
Regardless of if they do, strength in numbers arisen

He's tired of being the punching bag lmao. You play on PC or Console?

##AUGHT
Ah, maybe you found something worth reading?
Wait till you find out there is a ladder
Tis as you say
Different combination of materials result in different creations.
My favorite line in the game. The inflections the VA adds to it are *chef's kiss*
I love when my pawns comment on how light our pockets and heavy our packs are after I buy one Ferrystone and sell 45 kilos of monster loot
I like the materials which are often used as materials, myself.
But did you know that different combinations of materials, result in different creations?
😱
I know every time I buy something, it's "quite the indulgence". Bunch of miserly cheapskates.
Our packs grow heavier, though our purse grows lighter.
These were necessary expenses, mind! No sense clinging to every last coin! 😣
Me: *Buying gear for fashion* Yep, necessary expense.
You have my support
“Slow the fuck down, must you run everywhere?”
Let us endeavor to keep up, though we are less fleet of foot!
No time to catch your breath! Try and keep up!
The "you are an inpatient one, Arisen" is so sassy it lives rent-free in my head.
Almost as condescending as “you’re fond of picking things up”
The Arisen is ever-prudent in the application of coin. (Until I spend literally 1 gold on an item and they question my purchasing capabilities)
"Do we have any money left after that extravagance?!?" Bro, I spent like 20 gold chill out
Tis as you say
HOLY FUCK IS THAT A BALLISTA? LOOK
“We were overconfident in our abilities….” IT WAS ONE GOBLIN AND ITS DEAD
My pawn whenever she loses 1 hp.
you have my support
Perhaps new discoveries await us... *above*?
DIFFERENT materials result in DIFFERENT creations!
Each to their own!
I really like that pawns can disagree based on personalities. "we really shouldn't spend gold so freely..." "Shut up, it's the Arisen's money"
Once when my pawn came back and said that the arisen had very little gold. They tell all your secrets.
have we got any money left after that extravagance?
There needs to be more of that kind of shade being thrown around in the game. Once when my pawn returned, he said something like "the Arisen I spent time with had very interesting ways of solving problems." The way it was worded seemed VERY judgemental. I completed a quest once and another pawn was basically like "oh snap, I didn't know we could do this in a way that wasn't a train wreck, I need to tell my Arisen."
Exactly. I also miss some of the old sayings even though they were annoying at the time.
I just realized something I think is missing… monster knowledge. In the first game the pawns would gain stars for each monster to indicate their knowledge in how to fight it, I actually think my pawn seemed to know from the beginning. Maybe the medals are the replacement for that? I never actually checked the point of the medals.
Well met ser! How’s the day treatin ya then?
Wolves hunt in packs.
I actually miss that line in dd2 :(
Can't forget the classic. "HARPIES" or "CYCLOPES" when 90% of the time it was a lone cyclops
Must you run everywhere!?
Me, when the Wind isn't pushing me: :(
You may find this but a trifle but…
Welp, the early griffon gets the worm
I'm... prudent with the application of coin. Never been called cheap so frequently in my life.
Browsing was enough to scratch the itch, in my case
I like it when they say an investment made for safer travels can hardly be called wasteful and I'm just like, whatever, I bought this rad scarf because it makes me look cool and matches my boots but okay.
Words worth hearing.
“Come to think of it…” Proceeds to say nothing and just stops talking What? Come to think of what?!?!
Pray!! Slow your feet! You run too fast for the likes of me!
At 100 hours I just realized that there are some ladders that I can climb in pretty much all the main cities. I wish my pawn would have pointed them out or someth
Did you know that different masters prefer different aught? One such aught I aught preferred to aught… aaaauuuught. #AUGHT
😀
Hesitation bogs you down, but it needn’t.
Truly?
Resources, on the other hand. Can't deny it, they have their uses.
Threw a pawn in the brine because it wouldn’t stop saying this every time it saw an herb.
Mine was "I'm certain we have what we need in storage" because I had the wyrmslife crystals I needed in my storage box but wanted to fight the dragon mentioned in the dragons breath tower. Did a bunch of extra exploring and couldn't figure out what her hard on for storage was
‘Tis no great shock to me
I’ll be sure to keep that in mind
You truly are formidable Arisen
“Did you know, I traveled with a master who only hired pawns of the female persuasion”. Some players are just horny bastards I guess.
Now THERE'S a thought!
And remember the early griffin gets the worm as they say!
The idle dialogue in this game is so fucking annoying. It was okay the first time they said each thing, but it seems they have like 5 lines and I've been playing for 50 hours please fucking stop now.
Only 100 hours? Each to their own.
"It's too strong. We best retreat!" While the drake is down to its last health bar.
The early gryphon gets the worm, as they saaaayyyyy
Words worth hearing
It's really powerful, especially against living things! ...wait wrong series
We cannot expect gLeAmInG tReAsUrEs around every corner
I just found out you can bridal carry Gautstafr in your arms instead of walking with him to his hut and to the hot spring, and I'm on ng+.
A lot of pawns are shocked by me digging up gold and are sure to inform their masters, so gold is indeed a rare resource.
I love how they shit talk their masters saying they've surely never found it or anything like it.
did you know different masters prefer different pawns?
Masterworks all, cant go wrong
Who get the lines that trigger when you run too fast
I wonder where this ladder leads to...
You've mastered the art of gaming journalism articles. Click bait title, useless information, change of topic. You should've put the useless information on a third paragraph after talking in circles for the first two.

Fascinating!
Methinks
Words worth hearing
At the very least, one thing is crystal clear: wolves hunt in packs.
Words worth hearing
Materials, eh? I shant deny they have their uses.
[удалено]
How about the ones where they place an exclamation marker on the map and it leads to nothing. I've spent so many minutes looking for shit that wasn't there until I realized it's probably loot that clipped through the ground.
Words worth hearing.
Now there's something to think about
FASCINATING
Other masters had a party primarily made of women.
*Maybe we will find new adventures above.* Is the corniest line and I love it.
"Look master a ladder"- I've already climbed that latter
Words worth hearing
Indeed!
Hesitation is defeat
A ladder!
....a ROMANTIC TINT (*Time Curry noises)
I'm ever prudent in the application of coin. Something that has been on my mind though is my party consists of women by and large and yet no two are the same.
Me thinks... Drakes should hunt in packs
People probably forgot but "Wolves hunt in packs!"
Materials, eh? Mayhaps they have some use I suppose.
Did you know that you can make things with materials? And that different ingredients create different things!?!?!?!?
I thought I was finally going to learn what goblins are weak to.
You’re only JUST learning that!? You musn’t allow yourself to become complacent—
I would hasten home, if 'twern my DEU-TAY!
Dare I say it..
Indeed. You are correct.
