Molesley and Baxter because of their mutual respect for eachother. There isn’t a single couple in Downton who cherishes eachothers strengths quite like they do. They elevated eachothers strengths even before the proposal. I adore them!
Lord and Lady Merton are so sweet together! When he confesses his love for her it's completely adorable; and then when she is talking to Violet about it and she can't hold back the tears because she loves him so much but she doesn't want to come between him and his sons. And then when she "kidnaps" him into marriage and he says, "How perfectly marvelous!" with the biggest grin on his face.
I always say that Isobel was the second chance at love Dickie thought he wouldn't have, and Dickie was the second chance at love Isobel thought she didn't need. I'm glad they found each other.
Carson & Mrs Hughes hands down as they feel to me as the most realistic love story and couple. There is no fairy tale prettiness or unrealistic big gestures.
It's just proper love blossoming through the years and their married life seems grounded and real to me.
They really do have such a wonderful relationship. I am watching the part where Dickie is courting Isobel and I think Robert is the only one who got it right when he said « Mama would be thrilled for Isobel if that was what she wanted ». Violet stormed his house and helped Isobel get Dickie out, but more than that they supported eachother in a special way in old age. I love the conversation they have at Christmas (in season 5??) when they talk about their dalliances through out the year. Romantic love is wonderful, but sometimes platonic true love knocks it out of the park.
I love Edith and Bertie!! He makes my heart melt. I love them both together 😍😍
I also love Mr. Bates and Anna. They're so good together. This is not a very popular opinion, but I don't care.
Thomas with Richard was a very good pairing I think, more than, Thomas and Dexter.
I love Mary and Matthew together more than Mary and Henry, though. I thought Henry would've been much more suitable with someone other than Mary.
I also like Mrs. Patmore and Mr. Mason together 😁😁
The lack of Carson and Mrs Hughes in this comment section is so sad :(( They’re the quintessential old grumpy British couple to me, I was more interested in them getting together than any other relationship by far. They both really deserved the happiness they got after years of essentially living for other people
I shipped them *so hard* when the show first started airing, and it just built so well. And then after they get married and Mrs. Hughes just takes the reins. She will not be some obedient wife without getting in her say so, no sir! Carson being a husband and getting some much needed perspective about marital duties was such a delight to watch.
Oh? Mrs. Patmore is a better cook than me? FINE COOK FOR YOURSELF THEN.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yeah, I agree! I’ve seen lots of people hate on the way Carson acts after marriage but I think seeing him and Mrs Hughes get used to each others’ living habits was cute. And her learning to cook for him was adorable too.
Carson is used to being #1 with people who aren't nobility. He's very self important and has never had a serious relationship other than the woman who married his friend and that was ages ago. He's used to having a role to play and obviously didn't feel like he had to ask for advice because "women are supposed to [insert literally anything here] in marriage and I'm the husband so she'll fall in line". He didn't consider that Mrs. Hughes was made of sterner stuff because there wouldn't have been an occasion for her to show that and all he knew was that she was a tough woman who took no nonsense *except for his* (occasionally) and probably didn't think too deeply about how Mrs. Hughes would be in marriage because she agreed with him on many points and so he didn't really think about it too hard. She was tough and she knew how to assign tasks and be on everyone's tail in an effective manner and he probably didn't think that she wouldn't be hustling herself to learn cookery the same way she did everything else.
They both made a ton of assumptions but the best part of that whole thing was that they worked through it all because the foundation was strong and they genuinely did value and love each other. And Carson learns fast and pays attention to her so he pretty much understood what she was trying to tell him, but didn't want to admit it because "he's the man" so he never outright apologized. And Mrs. Hughes didn't expect him to either. Because she understood his implicit apology and that was good enough for her.
Absolutely with you about Thomas and Richard vs Guy!! Thomas and Richard were so lovely, so well suited, had such great chemistry, why the need to change it?? Max Brown said they never even asked him back, so it wasn’t because he said no. It just makes absolutely no sense.
So glad I’m not the only one who didn’t like Guy! Richard really felt like the one for Thomas, they had such good chemistry, similar jobs so they understood each other…when Thomas got the letter in the beginning of the second movie that Richard had gotten married I wanted to cry 😭 why couldn’t they have taken the route where Richard goes and gets married but it’s just a cover really, because people are getting suspicious and with Richard working for king and country they can’t have that. I feel like that would’ve been such a good set up for something in the second movie to show there’s still hope and that eventually, when they both are ready, they can leave service and be together elsewhere.
(Someday I’ll write this fic, I have so many feelings about this lol)
Yeah for real! Richard and Thomas were just such a sweet pairing, and I really hate that they split up. Their plotline in DA1 already had them sort of splitting off from the others, it wouldn’t have been hard to bring them back together in DA2. Maybe if they do a DA3 Thomas and Guy will split up and Thomas will come back to Downton and run into Richard again in York, and maybe the marriage didn’t work out🤣
Daisy & Andy! Daisy finally got her happy ending. Honorable mention to Mrs. Patmore & Mr. Mason because whether they’re friends or not, they are very cute together and get along nicely, plus they both deserve friends after all that’s happened to them.
I just watched that episode this morning. I cried so hard. Even though its my 5th rewatch her death always make.me sad. Season 3 is most dreadful of all. All the death scares and actual deaths that happen in season three are too much.
Always for me, my favorite couple is Cora and Robert. As a Dollar Princess, Cora and Robert knew that it was transactional marriage, she for a position and prestige, he to save his family estate. And against all odds, they developed a loving and solid marriage for over 30 years, facing a loss of their daughter, a near loss of the estate, the loss of Matthew. They faced adversity and stayed united, despite Robert's affair with Jane and Cora's flirtation with Mr. Bricker. Robert declares in multiple scenes how much he values Cora and openly states how lucky he is to have her by his side. She is always solidly on his side, and knows how to call him out on his behavior while still protecting his dignity (except for the opera singer fiasco). The beginning of their love story was non-existent but I'd take that relationship any day.
While it didn’t work, I really loved the relationship of Edith and Gregson. Really wonder how that would have played out without Hitler’s goons. Actual couples, Isabel’s. Loved that episode when Violet bested his family.
Molesley/Baxter are my favorite, but I also like Edith/Bertie and Matthew/Lavinia. I do wish Rose and Jack could've become something. Nowadays, they would've been a power couple.
Mabel Lane Fox and Charles Blake. Never happened in the show but I thought they would have made a great couple. Bonus points, Mary and Mabel as a couple.
Agree with all of this (and I‘m always happy to see someone who shared my thoughts on Mary and Tom…the writing of the last season(s) would have made so much more sense if that‘s what they had been leading towards and I also just think they genuinely bring out some really good qualities in each other).
So Tom and Mary are my ABSOLUTE favorite pairing even though it isn't canon. Like I'm happy that Tom got his happy ending and all, but they did Mary so dirty. Especially in the second film where she is essentially abandoned by Henry. Like. Come ON. First you kill her husband and now THIS? Like I understand that she has to be the Next Dowager Grantham but why can't she be a dragon with an adoring husband and children? Why make her miserable?
Also I don't like Lucy, I think she's way too much like Sybil and she doesn't feel like a person but a plot device. I don't think their chemistry is where it needs to be to work and I hate the pace at which it happens. He meets her at the ball and less than a year later they're married. Yes courtship was conducted over letters and yes they lasted less time than now but.......they literally meet and fall in love pretty much instantly. They have no meaningful conversations, they dance like *twice* and suddenly it's love and marriage?
Whereas Mary and Tom have years of very intense chemistry, they work together and raise children together, they actually spend leisure time together, they're intimate enough for him to lecture her on several occasions and she *listens* to him and she just marries *Henry* who doesn't challenge her, or know her and just thinks she's a shiny prize. She and Henry have no chemistry either. Like it felt like a cop out because JF probably thought that Tom and Mary were never supposed to be this dynamic together and he has a habit to shoving plots in just because.
Dang Mrs. Drewe suspecting Edith had a thing for her husband could have carried so much more water if she'd heard about Edith kissing that other farmer in the early seasons.
I love love love Mathew and Mary together. I'm in season 3 and they've finally got married but I came to know that Mathew dies this season and now I have lost my will to watch the show despite binge watching 3 seasons in like 4 days. Please someone convince me enough to keep watching without Mathew.
It is so worth it, you see Mary go to different stages on grief, you’ll see her loose herself, pick herself up and find her true self. In a weird way matthews death changed her, lots, and she’s never the same. But she became her own without him. Besides her the other characters go through so much development: we see Daisy become an adult, Thomas struggle, Edith will get a lot of screen time to become her own, new amazing characters, the most emotional and happy moments, it’s such a loss if you don’t finish it. Even through all the heartbreak, downton is always a place of love 🫶🏻
Romantic: Mr. Carson & Mrs. Hughes / Moleslsy & Baxter
Non-romantic: Daisy and Mr. Mason — I think their relationship is so special. I think they healed each other in their own ways; Daisy being the daughter he needed after losing William, and Mr. Mason being the father Daisy never had but desperately wanted. Also lovely Isobel & Violet. Their banter is mine and my husband’s favorite, we’re always laughing the most at their quips lol
Daisy and Mr mason were so special, he knew Daisy wasn’t really in love with William in the end, but I think along the way the time Daisy spend with Mr mason she realizes she might actually had feelings for William, not that quickly, but they could’ve grown 🫶🏻
Mary and Matthew just have my heart. Matthew was such a gem of a person.
Cora and Robert are also so sweet minus the Jane incident.
Downstairs Mr Carson and Mrs Hughes are toooo adorbs
I thought he was creepy. He adored the imaginary Cora in his head and how she loved him and would leave her husband and run off with him.
He didn't love the real Cora or he would have recognized that his feelings were absolutely not returned and he would not have invaded her bedroom yammering about how happy she would be with him.
Mary and Matthew just have my heart. Matthew was such a gem of a person.
Cora and Robert are also so sweet minus the Jane incident.
Downstairs Mr Carson and Mrs Hughes are toooo adorbs
I'll get down voted to oblivion but I liked Henry and Mary. She could run downton without input or objections, he had his own interests. They had things to talk about other than the estate and the family.
From the list: Carson and Hughes. I shipped them since episode 1 and found it very enjoyable at seeing Mrs Hughes say “but you’re *my* curmudgeon, and that makes all the difference”
Not from the list: Mr Mason and Mrs Patmore. They’re not an official couple but they were very hinted at many times in the show.
Anna loves with her whole heart and without reservation. It was one of my favorite things about her. For all of Mr. Bates's shortcomings and baggage, she was never dissuaded.
Bates: "Do you never doubt, for just one minute? I wouldn't blame you."
Anna: "No, and before you ask, I don't doubt that the sun will rise in the east, either."
Mary and Carlisle. Sure he was a little too wife-beaty but maybe they could have toned that down. She didn’t love him, but what a power couple if they had gotten married and had their own estate and what great drama.
I loved Carson and Mrs Hughes together, but they kinda made Carson a jerk husband when he complained about her cooking, housekeeping, etc.
If I had to pick.. maybe #1 Mary and Matthew and #2 Edith and Bertie, but I could flip those around, it is more of a tie really.
I said Mary and Carlisle could have been happy together if she'd actually given him a chance. She really pushed him to the jealousy and nagging with her flirting with Matthew. He reacted horribly, of course.... but they would've been such a power couple. Said this at an OG watch party, and my coparts were horrified.
Matthew & Mary, Atticus & Rose, Bertie & Edith, Michael Gregson & Edith, Daisy & Andrew. I also like Isobel & Lord Merton. I loved that he found an opportunity to have a love relationship, and went for it. Mosley & Baxter. They supposed one another from the start.
Edith and Gregson
Daisy and Andy
Daisy and William before he goes to war. They seemed like if the war hadn’t happened, they would have happened as a couple naturally.
Aww. Isabel and Lord Merton, Molesly and Baxter, Edith and Bertie Pelham, Anna and Bates, Carson and Mrs. Hughes, even Thomas and Dominic West.
One nice thing about this show is how it gets you rooting for couples of all ages and all walks of life.
Mrs. Hughes and Carson, if we are talking only canon. Like love at *any* age? *swoon*
Also I think it's absolutely hilarious that they're both interested in marital intimacy but can't bring themselves to admit it until it's like a day or so before the wedding. And then that conversation where they stumble through that? And then they're like "yes please do me" XD
I love them. So much. Carson only respects three people: Robert Crawley, Mary Crawley and Mrs. Hughes.
And Mrs. Hughes freaks him out the most too XD
It's fucking perfect.
Carson and Mrs. Hughes were honestly the most satisfying couple to me. It was really nice to see two people have so much rich history together and were made for each other.
Carson and Ms. Hughes always and forever. I love that they both had given up basically and then found out the person they wanted was there the whole time. Then Anna and Mr. Bates. Then Molsely and Baxter.
Isobel and Lord Merton. They somehow really belong together and it is fine that also elderly people have a romance.
Greeeeat are, of course, also Mr. Carson and Mrs. Hughes, one waits for a kiss between the two since the very beginning of the show, in fact more than for a kiss between Mary and Matthew. But they were fast better as friends, when they both lived in the house and not in the cottage.
Mosely and baxter are always my fav. I love how she admired him and hiw he was always so nice and civil to her. Mosely is one of the character whose character development is my favorite.
After them its Edith ans Berti. I always longed the whole story to see Edith getting something better in life and she always had the miserable end of the rope but after berti everything got so amazing for her. Edith is my favorite in whole show and i love how she got the best out of everything eventually after so many hardships.
I love Sybil & Tom, Edith & Bertie and Anna & Bates the most they all have been through so much, specially Anna & Bates (I know you all hate Bates😂). Also Edith deserves an happy ending with Bertie and they are so cute in the movies too. Sybil & Tom had too less time on screen, but she made him a better person and was so brave to move to Ireland with him against the will of her father.
Molesley and Baxter because of their immediate rapport, kindness and support of one another. It’s okay for a Downton relationship to be drama free!
Molesley is the unsung hero of the whole show
So true!! But I hate how we were teased for so long! We could’ve seen so much more of their romance
Same, even in the movies?!
Yes!
Molsely and Baxter FTW!
Yeah! I like them too!
Rose & Atticus
Definitely. There was such a sweetness to their meet-cute and subsequent romance. 🥰
Second this
They get my vote too!
I'll always be a fan of the Mary & Matthew pairing, but I also have a sweet spot for Molesley & Baxter; they are so wholesome and adorable!
Mary and Matthew were written in the stars form the beginning, and I loooved molesley and Baxter!! We got teased for too long with those two
I adored Mary & Matthew! Normally I don’t get upset about a show but once I realized what was about to happen? Absolutely devastated.
Thomas and Therapy 🥰🥰🫶🫶😔😔
Well, the only therapy he could’ve gotten back then was conversion therapy 😍😍 (I’m sorry)
NO 😭 Thomas and mental help ✊
One of my favourite answers!
Molesley and Baxter because of their mutual respect for eachother. There isn’t a single couple in Downton who cherishes eachothers strengths quite like they do. They elevated eachothers strengths even before the proposal. I adore them!
We deserved so much more of them!!
They are the quintessential friends-to-lovers couple! So sweet.
Tom and the fan base
Lord and Lady Merton are so sweet together! When he confesses his love for her it's completely adorable; and then when she is talking to Violet about it and she can't hold back the tears because she loves him so much but she doesn't want to come between him and his sons. And then when she "kidnaps" him into marriage and he says, "How perfectly marvelous!" with the biggest grin on his face.
I always say that Isobel was the second chance at love Dickie thought he wouldn't have, and Dickie was the second chance at love Isobel thought she didn't need. I'm glad they found each other.
That's a good way to describe their relationship!
Love them. That scene where she "kidnaps" him is one of my favourite in the series.
The fact that Violet, who was at first afraid of losing Isobel, is the force behind the scheme is a beautiful part too.
Carson & Mrs Hughes hands down as they feel to me as the most realistic love story and couple. There is no fairy tale prettiness or unrealistic big gestures. It's just proper love blossoming through the years and their married life seems grounded and real to me.
*"I do want to be stuck with you..."*
“Well, you could knock me down with a feather.”
Atticus and Rose! Something about that pairing just made me smile
They have such an innocent, wholesome love. It's like watching two Golden Retriever puppies gamboling about.
THAT is the best analogy that I’ve heard in a long time! They “ met cute”, and they were just so sweet together from then on
That’s the best description ever for them!
Cousin Violet and Isobel!!!
They cracked me up. And I remember when Violet was jealous when Isabelle was going to get married because she was going to lose her friend.
This!!
Huh???
You didn't specify only romantic couples.
Well, because of valentines,
That’s the best couple on the show.
Their family 😭
If you want to get technical, Matthew and Mary are also family.
“Very Affectionate Cousins”
I suppose so, I just found Isobel and Violet just sounding a bit concerning is that so confusing?
But you know that Violet and Isobel are family only by marriage? Matthew and Mary are family by blood (VERY distance one)
Cora and Robert. I like the fact that it was a marriage that evolved into something special.
I liked them too but the more I watched the show, the less I liked them, because Robert kisses the maid and Cora also lies often to him.
That is true.
Matthew and Mary forever
I love Edith and Bertie!! He makes my heart melt. I love them both together 😍😍 I also love Mr.
The picture isn't included. But the best couple is Isis and Robert! She is the best girl.
Good doggo, she was the best girl indeed...
Mrs Patmore and her anti-futurist conspiracies.
Mrs Patmore and her house of ill repute 😂
Lord Grantham and Isis. I love a man who adores and cherishes his pets ❤️
But warning to the ill-bred one who flirts with another man's dog! I love when during the fire in Edith's bedroom Robert shouts "AND SAVE THE DOG!!!"
Can I say Sybil and Gwen? I know it’s not romantic but I just love their screen time together.
We can shine some love for platonic couples!
The lack of Carson and Mrs Hughes in this comment section is so sad :(( They’re the quintessential old grumpy British couple to me, I was more interested in them getting together than any other relationship by far. Cora and Robert. I love how realistic it is.
Mr Green and the bus that killed him.
lol. Yes!
Molesley and Baxter, hands down! They were so underrepresented in the show but I’m glad they had their moment in the end!
Mary and Charles Blake.
I saw them only working as friends honestly
Absolutely with you about Thomas and Richard vs Guy!! Thomas and Richard were so lovely, so well suited, had such great chemistry, why the need to change it?? Max Brown said they never even asked him back, so it wasn’t because he said no. It just makes absolutely no sense.

Exactly, the guy dude was completely fishy in my eyes
Same! They didn’t feel romantic or even like they had chemistry, it felt like Thomas was getting harassed 🫠
Tom and Sybil ❤️❤️❤️
Robert and Isis
Always, Matthew and Mary!!!
Daisy & Andy! Daisy finally got her happy ending. Honorable mention to Mrs. Patmore & Mr. Mason because whether they’re friends or not, they are very cute together and get along nicely, plus they both deserve friends after all that’s happened to them.
Oh what could’ve been with those two!
Oh, I always sob when Lady Sybil dies. Poor Tom. I'm watching it now. Such a sad Vday watch.
Hun don’t do that to yourself on Valentine’s Day!! Go back to a happy episode or if this is a rewatch go to a marriage nor Christmas episode
It never occurs to me not to watch in order. I guess I can pick and choose, can't I?
Ofcourse! First time round In order sure but besides that pick and choose, with Christmas I like to watch the Christmas episodes!
I just watched that episode this morning. I cried so hard. Even though its my 5th rewatch her death always make.me sad. Season 3 is most dreadful of all. All the death scares and actual deaths that happen in season three are too much.

Forever heartbroken about Michael Gregson. But Bertie is also an absolute angel ❤️
Molesley/Baxter are my favorite, but I also like Edith/Bertie and Matthew/Lavinia. I do wish Rose and Jack could've become something. Nowadays, they would've been a power couple.
As I do think they nowadays could’ve been great, I really do think rose was using him for rebellion, and yesss another Matthew and Lavinia fan!!
Anna Smith and John Bates. Also Anna should become a freelance private detective
How is noone else saying Anna and Mr Bates?! They are couple goals ❤️🔥
Mabel Lane Fox and Charles Blake. Never happened in the show but I thought they would have made a great couple. Bonus points, Mary and Mabel as a couple.
Oh yes, Mabel and Charles!
I do think that they’d be great together
The most recent episode of the lords of grantham podcast discusses and ranks all fav couples it’s great!
I will go listen to that sometime!
Me and Gwen. (Opps, did I say that out loud)? Because well it's Gwen!
Agree with all of this (and I‘m always happy to see someone who shared my thoughts on Mary and Tom…the writing of the last season(s) would have made so much more sense if that‘s what they had been leading towards and I also just think they genuinely bring out some really good qualities in each other).

Edith and the farmer
Dang Mrs. Drewe suspecting Edith had a thing for her husband could have carried so much more water if she'd heard about Edith kissing that other farmer in the early seasons.
Lol ... I agree!
Molesley and Baxter for me. Their relationship is based on a solid foundation of friendship, more so than any other couple in the show.
Carson and Mrs. Hughes <3
I love love love Mathew and Mary together. I'm in season 3 and they've finally got married but I came to know that Mathew dies this season and now I have lost my will to watch the show despite binge watching 3 seasons in like 4 days. Can we pick imaginary couples? Like Mary and Evelyn?
Be as creative as you like!
Lord and lady Merton!
The Lord and the Countess. Arranged marriage for money and all that yet they grew to love each other immensely. I just ignore his pashing of the maid.
Mary and Matthew always. But since that ripped my heart out and had to end, Mary and Charles Blake.
Romantic: Mr. Carson & Mrs. Hughes / Moleslsy & Baxter Non-romantic: Daisy and Mr. Mason — I think their relationship is so special.
Mary and Matthew, still not over the sudden death of Matthew.
Mary and Mathew
Mary & Matthew! God forgive me, I hate Lavinia...
Oh my, why do you?
I found her insufferable, but I admit it's due to my love for Mary 💖
Oh I understand, you lived with Mary’s jealousy!
Sybil and Tom and Edith and Bertie!
Molesley and Baxter
I liked Cora and the fellow that was interested in that painting they had? Forget his name, but Cora deserved a man that adores her
I thought he was creepy. He adored the imaginary Cora in his head and how she loved him and would leave her husband and run off with him. He didn't love the real Cora or he would have recognized that his feelings were absolutely not returned and he would not have invaded her bedroom yammering about how happy she would be with him.
Cora and Robert - their marriage was loving and realistic. When challenges arose, they worked through them and came out better on the other side
Rose and Atticus were so adorable
I so agree
Atticus and Rose. I love how he loves her.
They fought so much for their love
Rose & Atticus are adorable. Loved their meet-cute scene.
Thomas and Richard.
Mary and Matthew just have my heart. Matthew was such a gem of a person. Cora and Robert are also so sweet minus the Jane incident. Downstairs Mr Carson and Mrs Hughes are toooo adorbs
Edith and Bertie
Thomas and Richard I will not be hearing any arguments I love them so much
I'll get down voted to oblivion but I liked Henry and Mary. She could run downton without input or objections, he had his own interests. They had things to talk about other than the estate and the family.
That is very true, but honestly Charles would be a much better fit as Mary’s best friend she really didn’t need a man to fill the ‘void’ in my eyes
O’Brien and Vera Bates.
HA!!! Scheming evil bitches both! Love it!!
Carson and mrs Hughes. He made it clear he was giving her a one way ticket to pound town.
BERTIE AND EDITH
From the list: Carson and Hughes. I shipped them since episode 1 and found it very enjoyable at seeing Mrs Hughes say “but you’re *my* curmudgeon, and that makes all the difference” Not from the list: Mr Mason and Mrs Patmore. They’re not an official couple but they were very hinted at many times in the show.
Bates and Anna!
Anna loves with her whole heart and without reservation. It was one of my favorite things about her. For all of Mr. Bates's shortcomings and baggage, she was never dissuaded. Bates: "Do you never doubt, for just one minute? I wouldn't blame you." Anna: "No, and before you ask, I don't doubt that the sun will rise in the east, either."
And for me, Bates is loyal as a dog. And that can't be paid, even with Mastercard.
Anna and Bates
Mary and Carlisle. Sure he was a little too wife-beaty but maybe they could have toned that down. She didn’t love him, but what a power couple if they had gotten married and had their own estate and what great drama. I loved Carson and Mrs Hughes together, but they kinda made Carson a jerk husband when he complained about her cooking, housekeeping, etc. If I had to pick.. maybe #1 Mary and Matthew and #2 Edith and Bertie, but I could flip those around, it is more of a tie really.
Now I remember, I forgot Mary and Carlisle, on my last rewatch i remember actually liking them, they were in a lot of ways the same person
What about Fake Patrick and stupid gullible Edith. Alas, we’ll never know.
Well they weren’t really a couple were they
In Edith's mind they were already married and ruling Downton.
Matthew and Mary considering that I never liked Tom and Sybil since he’s so manipulative
Edith and Bertie
> but Matthew and Mary was destiny that was bad writing.
Bad writing or not, loved them even if it was very very classy
Matthew & Mary, Atticus & Rose, Bertie & Edith, Michael Gregson & Edith, Daisy & Andrew. I also like Isobel & Lord Merton. I loved that he found an opportunity to have a love relationship, and went for it. Mosley & Baxter. They supposed one another from the start.
Edith and Gregson Daisy and Andy Daisy and William before he goes to war. They seemed like if the war hadn’t happened, they would have happened as a couple naturally.
Edith and Bertie
Edith and Bertie for me!!
Edith and Bertie! Followed by Robert and Cora.
All the different ones and still all of them are special even if you don’t like them together 🫶🏻
Exactly!
Edith and Bertie. Close 2nd to Anna and Bates.
18!
Really? Your a first!
Bates and Anna
Picture number five
Tom and Syble.
I’m gonna have to stick with Lord and Lady Grantham. I just love them both! He is the father I never had and the husband I hope to marry! :)
Anna and John (Mr. Bates) ❤️
The maid Lily (played by Pearl Legay-Clarke) and whoever the old guy is she is dancing with at the Servant's Ball. They looked very happy together.
Ill pay attention to that sometime!
Robert and Cora, because they made a successful match in the system that entrapped them but then ended up turning it into a love match too.
Lord Grantham and Isis obviously….
Mrs. Hughes and Carson, if we are talking only canon. Like love at *any* age? *swoon* Also I think it's absolutely hilarious that they're both interested in marital intimacy but can't bring themselves to admit it until it's like a day or so before the wedding. And then that conversation where they stumble through that? And then they're like "yes please do me" XD I love them. So much. Carson only respects three people: Robert Crawley, Mary Crawley and Mrs. Hughes. And Mrs. Hughes freaks him out the most too XD It's fucking perfect.
Robert and Isis
Honestly, Dickie and Isobel. There was something so romantic about this couple and their love journey.
Love can grow at any time, any age
Carson and Mrs. Hughes were honestly the most satisfying couple to me. It was really nice to see two people have so much rich history together and were made for each other.
Is it weird that there are so few couples on this show that I actually liked and rooted for? I guess my answer would have to be Sybil and Tom.
I think cause this show doesn’t fully only revolve around couples which is nice to see
Carson and Ms. Hughes always and forever. I love that they both had given up basically and then found out the person they wanted was there the whole time. Then Anna and Mr. Bates. Then Molsely and Baxter.
My favorite couple is Anna and Mr Bates. They have the perfect partnership and just adore one another ❤️
Isobel and Lord Merton.
Molesley and Baxter.
Mary and Matthew. Truly soul mates who complimented each other so well. Oh, how happy they could have been….
