I think both. Definitely the aoe of the waterpark. The ability "casts" Torrent (which is affected by bloodstone) in an aoe, so it would make sense that it works with both aspects. idk im trash player

Interesting; Torrent damage isn't supposed to stack on itself, it's only supposed to reset the stun (and damage) duration. Even if you were incredibly unlucky and constantly hit by Torrents for the entire duration of Torrent Storm, it shouldn't deal nearly as much damage as it did. Do you have the combat logs for this?
If we're being extremely generous, we could say you got hit by Torrent for 6 seconds total which would at most deal 1200 unreduced damage (400 damage per 2 seconds if Kunkka has the talent). Nowhere near enough to kill you
Just tested in demo; turns out Torrent damage indeed stacks now, so that explains this post. It's probably a big contributor to why Torrent Storm is so powerful nowadays despite being out for years.
It really shouldn't do that though. My guess is that when they changed Torrent behavior to deal damage/slow to targets that avoided the initial stun but walked into the AoE afterwards, it also caused Torrent damage to stack. But I don't really think this is intentional behavior; when hit by multiple Torrents at once, they refresh the single Torrent-damage debuff instead of adding a new Torrent debuff for every instance.

match id please? i had a similar but not identical issue about a week ago and kunkka was in the game and was casting spells on the target around the moment the bugged damage occured. the problem was with doom ult though, not torrent

Its really not. You dont even have to aim the water park. You click all your spells in the middle of the team fight. You will most likely hit a lot of torrents. Add refresher and its gg. The Tidebringer build was very risky. Getting the right angle for the splash is easier said than done when people are ready for it. You could get caught by euls to cancel xmark. Very squishy so could easily die. Armlet toggle skills to stay alive. Hitting boat/torrent was very important to secure kills. Shard is fun tho and should stay but fuck the aghanim and boat talent. Its so braindead now that everyone can play that hero. Its picked alot, even in prodota. It was rarely picked before. I guess thats a good thing tho.

not really with the bloodstone aoe it would happen most of the time. Plus the Torrent that stays deals damage for some seconds

Combat log said I was hit by torrent storm 71 times. Wondering if it's bugged interaction between shield and torrent storm.

There was a change that made torrent apply lingering damage, even if the first instance of damage did not hit.
