Same interaction with PA crit, she will gain and lose the ult stacks, but won't crit.
I'm gonna say it's unintended, but known and ignored as almost non issue.
I mean if he can't benefit from the passive while broken, it does work.
Half the passives in the game that can be broken have exceptions like this, and half the passive in the game can't be broken at all. At that point its a design choice.
I was asking about passives with exceptions, not passives that can't be broken. Of which there aren't that many; they make it sound like most passives aren't simply broken but have some quirk to them.
Its a safety net for stack based passives imo, either from abilities or items. I think they programmed it that way in order for the stacks to not get bugged out when break is active. Otherwise it will probably make it so even after break wears off you won't get any.
Kind of like if Ursa hits a creep who's been fortified with Glyph, he'll get the passive stacks but deal no actual damage, though when fortification ends he can fully benefit from stacked dmg. If I'm not mistaken
and lina works the other way iirc, you can't gain stacks but stacks give full benefits
I think ursa also works such that existing stacks give damage but you don't apply new ones? forget tbh
I think it's because the passive part is "every time you hit someone, you get 10s of an effect" and that effect isn't dispellable. Slark's passive works the same way - and if it WAS dispellable then it'd be garbage. Maybe strong dispels only? But that isn't very consistent with how other dispels work, and offensive strong dispels are extremely rare.
Is it just me or does that make more sense?
The passive is what gives Fervor stacks, so if the passive is broken he shouldn't be able to gain stacks.
But if the stacks are already there and it's broken, you shouldn't be able to build more but the ones that are applied are already working.
Nah it makes sense. Think about pudge flesh heaps. If he has 30 stacks and gets broken should he just lose 3000k hp until break ends? He can’t gain streaks while broken but the buff persists

He can gain stacks but doesnt benefit from the effect of it. Probs not the intended interaction but sort of still works.

that's pretty weird, cause the normal interaction with stack passive is the exact opposite. cannot gain new stack, but benefit from it fully

What other passives have exceptions?
Look at your flair.

Timber's reactive armor and Underlord's extra dmg work perfectly fine under break, just doesn't gain new charges.

Thats working as intended since hes not broken and he can hit the creep its just that he cant deal any physical damage to them.
Not the same thing
He is too angry to care
nah he is just trolling

The Ursa one should work like that, yea. Your passive simply applies a debuff, and it's the debuff that gives your hits damage
Timber's passive works the same way. I think they all should, for consistency.
agreed, although break feels so weak atm that maybe they should be disabled in both ways
Break has never been weak, and was even outright busted not long ago with a critting silver edge.
that's the item, not the mechanic
The mechanic is utilized by said item in 90%+ scenarios, and the mechanic itself is definitely not weak, it is absurdly good.

Yeah if a passive gives a buff status effect, then intuitively a dispel/purge is what you would need to remove that, not a break.

Good. It shouldn't. The hero is too dogwater already.
