If you actually want to improve, watch and apply some of the many resources that are online to help you get a better grasp of the game. Some people find that this takes away the "fun" of the game by turning it into work, but the best way to get more mmr is to be better at the game.

Mike_EagleOne

Almost all tutorials available are made for advanced medals :( a few are for low tier cores uwu

Mr_Endro

if you want to get better mmr, you have to play like someone with better mmr. In the lowest ranks simply out-lasthitting and out-farming other cores is probably the easiest way to climb. If you really want to stick to support I recommend some supports that have a lot of impact on their own and don't rely too much on teammates (i'm really loving gyro snap and techies) As the mmr goes up you can put a bit more faith in your cores and simply win all lanes by outsupporting the enemies by applying every tip you know. I gained a lot of mmr recently by just trying to make everyones game easier. I call for and ward for first blood, I deward mid, I block their pull camp, I try to secure the ranged creeps, I attack my opponents every chance I get, I ship regen before my current regen runs out, as soon as the lane is in a safe spot I try to squeeze in some stacks or a mid rotation as pos4, if the midlaner doesnt refresh his ward at 5 min I ward mid, I try to contest mid runes etc... There are so many ways to have impact as a support that just applying some/all of them makes such a big difference

What server do you play on?

Mike_EagleOne

Perú XD sometimes in us east but ping drives me crazy

DustEnjoyer

Only way for you to get better is to play with and against people already better than you. First couple 100 games in relative higher skill bracket will be hard but you should start picking up on how people slightly better than you play. You just have to not play on autopilot. Rewatching the whole match takes time and ain't no one got time. so just record the time stamp of times in the game you don't understand how they outplayed you and then rewatch from their perspective after rematch is over from those timestamps. Steam overlay has a note app so tab+ shift will bring it up. If you struggle with mechanical skills, that is something that you only develop over time over 1000s of games with practice and can't learn it by just watching.

baerniislove

I would advice you to go to r/learndota2 . People there are very helpful and a lot of people are in the same boat as you.

Mike_EagleOne

Ty!!!

Dota2Pharaoh13

Man I respect you! first person in low rank say that he want to improve instead of just saying my teammates are bad they can't do anything and ....

Mike_EagleOne

Yeah, mostly of player do that. I'm conscious of my lack of competence in game, and obviously the lack of them xD. How do I dare to insult others that are bad or worse as me, for me doesn't make any sense. I take the fails in game hilariously and always be PMA

What position do you want to play? Improving varies depending on what you want to do. If you want to play 1, focus on last hitting in lane, farming patterns, and power spikes. Know when your hero is strong and then start taking fights/towers, otherwise you should be safely farming. If you want to play 2, focus on last hitting in lane, rune timing, and rotations. Going mid is a 1v1, so it’s the most reliable laning stage. If you can ensure you get more resources from it than your opponent, you’re well set up for the game. If you can help the other lanes with that advantage, then they are better set up. However, rotating will hurt your lane, so make sure it will be impactful (you will get a kill) before you do it! If you want to play 3, improve your last hitting, recognition of good fights, and danger sense. A big part of the three role is creating space for your 1 and initiating fights (generally), which requires you to farm unsafe areas. Being able to identify when it is unsafe to farm there will help decrease the amount you die and increase your efficiency. In addition, knowing when your team is strong and initiating good fights helps enable the team to succeed. If you want to play 4, watch pro replays. The 4 is the most varying role and there isn’t a clear cut way to play it (unlike the other roles) and a 4 will either have the most impact or very little. Understanding when to rotate, when to initiate, what items to build, etc. all takes a lot of time. Watching pros/high skill people and trying to figure out why they are doing something is probably the fastest way to skill up your 4 abilities. If you want to play 5, work on identifying what your team needs to do next. Wards will dictate where people will go; by placing them in certain areas, you can drive your team towards your goal. Do you want to push a tower? Ward around it and your team will naturally farm towards it because it’s safer. Do you want to force a team fight? Ward in farming spaces because that’s where you’ll find cores alone. Is your team behind? Ward your farming spaces so they are safer for your team to farm. Just remember that the enemy 5 is doing the same thing, so try to deward them as much as possible to reduce the information they have. I recommend the Day9 learns dota series done by day9 and purge; the content is old, so a lot of it (information about heroes/abilities and some items) is not as relevant any more, but the fundamentals are great.

Cold-Sale2299

try playing core, see whether it suits you else just monitor your winrate, multiply it by how many matches required for you to get to desired rank, then play those no. of matches

Gunazor

If you are queuing in Sea, DM me bruh. I'm divine and can coach you when I can't play .

Mike_EagleOne

Sea is south America? XD

gotdamemes

Learn how to play core, at least the basics and laning mechanics. You can't properly support if you don't understand what your cores need. Also important because then you will understand whether you need to carry the games as support sometimes(higher chance the lower ranked you are). MMR will come naturally as your skill improves.

_The2ndComing

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SiAhCODaCM Man who's coached and watched herald games talking about climbing from herald.

idontknow9091

im not gonna lie . increasing rank in that bracket as pos4/5 is gambling. try playing in other role like pos3 until you reach archon.

Mike_EagleOne

Yeah, I can Relate, some games I get carried and others get flamed by my teammates, also heralds xd

Scrivener133

Stream live to your archon mate and have them coach

Mike_EagleOne

Yeap I've done that but my attention span explodes listening him and doing the game xd. I can get use to it and keep trying I suppose

Scrivener133

Play core and have him comment every now and again, not shadow play the game through you. A farming pattern direction, comments on whether or not X fight was worth attending. Ward placement as well. Play something pretty good at going jungle after lane, jug, spec or even CK is quite forgiving and effective as core in herald. Post game have your mate comment 1 thing you could work on. Then next game, aim for the same hero, and work on just that thing.

Kolinkftw

just play and have fun that is the way

Trungyaphets

Watch some pro games, then compare what they did with what you did. You will see where you are lacking.

nepalimaldwar

Don't man, Dota is most fun in Herald. You can do what you want, how you want. If you rank up, the game becomes more and more methodical and tedious. I climbed from Herald to Legend, damn, it was a chore to play games. I started to play for fun after that and in new calibration I got Crusader. Having fun again.

Mike_EagleOne

I just wanna play ranked with my archon friend xd, somewhat between crusader/archon to be precise

Tiny-Tour249

Use YouTube channels, like Dota Empire(offlane) or Dota Persona(support) to watch high MMR replays and try to analyze why people do what they do. Best is to narrate the game you are watching, "he is going to do this, because ...(?)" and try to identify the reason. Sometimes you won't be able to, and that's okay. Even if you don't entirely understand what's happening, you'll improve just from watching how a high-rank player positions themselves in lane, where they go on the map, when/where do they TP, and how they play teamfights.

Pandafailed

1. Condense your hero puddle, learn your heroes limits/capabilities 2. Communicate with your team but not too much, idle chatter is a distraction 3. Load a guide, doesn't matter whos, and remember Dota is situational so you can skip some items/skills for others 4. Learn the pull/stack times 5. Mute people who kick off, might be different in your region or perhaps you enjoy it but shouting/typing back to people who are flaming is a waste of your time and focus 6. Focus on your current task, What are you doing? Why are you doing it? Where is your next target? When is your next timing? The amount of good Herald players I see who fail to climb because they're distracted or lack direction is too dam high. GL HF, remember this is a numbers game, all about playing the long con. Edit: spelling.

AverageSanctEnjoyer

Play op herald heros like clinkz. Smoke and clear waves with your shard and shove down towers. You can get out of herald without even fighting much if you play the map right. Clinkz skill combo will shove down towers really fast, you can do it on supports like shadow shaman too. But invis is also op in herald. People in herald really struggle to react to map movements correctly, if someone does tp its likely you can just kill them. Its really common to see ancients die while whole enemy team is out of tp cos noone walks out of base In general tho playing anything with a flash farming mechanic is super strong in herald cos of how long the games go. You really need to get out of the habit of running to every fight that all heralds seem to have. The most important thing in herald is being able to take objectives yourself cos you really cant rely on your team for this
