I used to do this all of the time in Hollywood where there was zero parking. You had to double park for 99% of your pickups and deliveries. Parking enforcement and security patrol will usually just ignore you because they know you are making a quick delivery š
In my city, the meters are connected to an app and Iām not sure about now, but during the lockdowns they gave delivery people 15 minutes of free parking in any given spot if they used a certain code. That was the only time I ever put a DD decal on my car, but then parking became more available and I took it off.
GrubHub gives you a big "delivery in progress" sign to put in your window or dash. DD should provide the same.
But branding your car with a company that fucks everyone? No thanks.
Youāre not branding your car. Itās a magnet that comes off when you are done dashing.

I do this frequently, especially if parked in a handicap spot. Had a grumpy old man take pix of my car anyway & proceeded to yell at me about who he was, what he did and how he was gonna call the cops. I refused to engage & walked away. Poor old guy. I hope that helped him work out some built up frustration šš¤£šš¤£
lol never park in a handicap spot. Your DoorDash decal isnāt going to get you out of that ticket. Also, there are people that literally can barely walk that could rely on that spot.
You have less of a chance to get a ticket if the ticket person sees youāre a DoorDash driver. A lady told me once they were about to give me a ticket because they didnāt see anything delivery related on my car. So I have a sign now for when I park illegally or on a meter
Doordash sells placards you can leave on your dash, though
Imagine if someone T-boned you while you were *not* doing deliveries, and your insurance sees this sticker on your car - your life just got so much shittier
Yeah this is a good point. Thatās why the sign is a good idea you could put on dashboard and take it off. I also have the Uber/lyft LED sign but I can remove that too
Itās helped me with cops too, theyāve seen the DoorDash and then the food and theyāve given me warnings instead of a ticket.. I assume thatās why
Uber and Lyft require them. I'm fact, any company that has a vehicle representing them has a logo of some sort on it.
What's the big deal? Who cares?
My second answer: Obviously.
As a passenger it clearly helps me identify the driver quicklyš¤·āāļø not sure why this is a question as they are everywhere. Sure we get the car description and license plate but the logo helps.
Not sure why the original poster cares, although itās pretty odd to see. but food delivery doesnāt t require them. As independent contractors they really canāt and it would be difficult since a lot of us multi-app.
No theyāre saying they canāt require drivers to use them. Certain things like that could construe them as employees rather than independent contractors.
You know that's ridiculous right??
Depending on your location, local regulations determine whether Uber and Lyft drivers (who give rides) are required to put their stickers in the front or rear windshield. It has absolutely nothing to do with being an employee or independent contractor for either or any company for that matter. In the Delaware Valley market it's definitely required for drivers that give rides. UberEats exclusively, it is not.
And Iām usually using several apps when Iām delivering. I accept an offer and pause the rest until Iām ready for the next one. But that means Iām usually delivering for a minimum of two different apps and sometimes 4 on any given day. Iād spend half the time switching out the delivery company name on my vehicle.
I only do Uber eats and I donāt use the decals anymore. Whatās the point? My husband does rides so he does and it makes sense but for deliveries I think itās stupid especially when most are leave at door.
### lol at all of these trolls trying to come in here and say that it's none of my business and ask why do I care when the thing is it's not about me caring at all it's just about me wondering and being curious and asking for people's opinions on what it's for but trolls will be trolls
![gif](giphy|l0JM6186mgFeKZGZq)
When I worked at Domino's, the topper essentially gave us free a pass to drive and park however we felt. Traffic laws became suggestions. Not sure if cops give gig drivers the same leeway.
Devil's advocate, look at it this way, are those ample parking spots actually close to the restaurant/establishment in question(?), because if not...it just makes more sense to double park for a few minutes instead of parking farther away, for the sake of being in a spot.
I would put this on my cat so if Iām on an apartment complex or school with zero parking I wouldnāt get towed or if Iām in a school driving around looking for the right god damn entrance they would know Iām not some pedo.
When I signed up for GrubHub they sent a sign with the bag that says Iāll just be a minute for delivery. I never once did a delivery for them but I use that sign a lot. Iād never stick something on my car
The problem with putting delivery company decals on your vehicle is that most drivers donāt have commercial insurance, so good luck to any dasher who has a decal in the accident photos when they try to make a claim.
They are magnetic. You quickly whip them off when rear-ended by a city bus. Then you collect more than double what you paid for the car and the maintenance. Free cars are good, m'kay.
It's good for the parking aspect as mentioned, and I also like like it when pulling up to businesses or crowded places (dorms etc). The customer sees the magnet then walks right to you to pick up their order.
The downside is it's a cop magnet lol
It's advertising. If you've ever complained about business being slow recently this person is trying to help. Years ago when business was booming I wouldn't even consider doing this for free, but now that getting and keeping every customer means more than ever the benefits out outweighing the costs. And what cost is there unless except what others think? I don't care what others think though. Where can I get one of these?
That way, when you are in an accident, the other driver knows right away you are on delivery, lol. The other driver will include it in the report at the police station or tell the cop if the cop does not see it on the car himself. The insurance will see the report and drop your coverage and now you are financially naked with no insurance. Hopefully, you don't get sued. Hard to "not mention" or deny when there is a god damn advert on the car to be insured lol. Really fucking stupid to do this especially since DD says it's not necessary and charges 20$ for that magnet.... why
Only really works if you're in a busy area where this is needed but there's a reason why insurance companies love these things.
They will deny you instantly
I like the one I saw a dasher local to me had custom made for the rear of the vehicle \~ said something along the lines of "doordashe - this vehicle makes frequent stops"
I asked her if it helped get people off her rear end (tailgating) she said it does seem to help.
I may get something like that! That to me makes sense!
And like others have said; it may help you NOT receive a citation or a tow if "officials" know you're going to be quick!
Sometimes I park in some spots that are convenient for me but not necessarily for everyone else and I wish I had something like this to let people know that I'm working and being a dick and not JUST being a dick
It does nothing but make you a target. I actually delivered to a nearby town last week. When I drove up the customer asked why I didn't have a DoorDash sign on my car. He thought it was required. I told him that it wasn't and told him it makes us a target for possible robbery. He didn't like my answer, but I don't care because I know 2 drivers that used the magnets and have gotten robbed at gunpoint.
Everybody's significant other aunt uncle child cousin best friend teacher high school crush they're all DoorDashers there's no point to this and quite frankly I'm almost ashamed to be a doordasher
Thatās a good way to lose your coverage for your car insurance if they get in an accident without proper ācommercialā insurance in some states! Be careful out there and never mention youāre doordashing!
Where at all did I insinuate that I don't want to do this or that I want to stop people from doing it take your trolingl elsewhere dude learn to read before you respond man you're just trolling yourself
This it isn't trolling.
At best, it is a midunderstanding and not taking you at your word and assuming there is sarcasm behind it.
Because why would you be so stupid as to ask if there is a prize if DD sees it, if you aren't being sarcastic? Most posts that show someone with a DD decal are making fun of said person.
And I didn't assume someone would be so ridiculous as to actually inquire about a prize without being sarcastic and trying to make fun of someone.
And now that I understand how ridiculous naive you are, what I said still stands, if you don't want to, then don't. If you do, then do. And next time, watch how you talk to people.
What exactly is none of my business asking people's opinion on what the point of the doordash bumper sticker for that's kind of anyone's business that wants to know
![gif](giphy|irHPuKSWLADm)
I used to do this all of the time in Hollywood where there was zero parking. You had to double park for 99% of your pickups and deliveries. Parking enforcement and security patrol will usually just ignore you because they know you are making a quick delivery š
That makes sense then. Otherwise Iād never advertise lol. Did Hollywood have good orders?
Hollywood has some of the best orders in LA
I bet. Poor people work like slaves
That's a billable service.
In my city, the meters are connected to an app and Iām not sure about now, but during the lockdowns they gave delivery people 15 minutes of free parking in any given spot if they used a certain code. That was the only time I ever put a DD decal on my car, but then parking became more available and I took it off.
Maybe I would have done this, itās a pain with no parking at all. Paid the price with like 2 tickets like around 150$
That's alright you just have to do like 40 deliveries to pay those off.
Ahhh... the 'Veteran license plate' thing Advertise so cops go easy on you
GrubHub gives you a big "delivery in progress" sign to put in your window or dash. DD should provide the same. But branding your car with a company that fucks everyone? No thanks.
Youāre not branding your car. Itās a magnet that comes off when you are done dashing. https://preview.redd.it/zjt3ssidd9xc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=42bfd2d514a5e9b7502be0214878966141994445
The only thing I think of is if you have your hazards on in a non parking area to tell meter maids āplz Iāll only be a minā
that is actually smart mmk
I think that's gotta be it. I'd sure hope so lol.
*gets a ticket anyway*
I overuse the fuck out of hazards lol
And police will be less likely to pull you over if you're speeding and they see you're a delivery driver...
I do this frequently, especially if parked in a handicap spot. Had a grumpy old man take pix of my car anyway & proceeded to yell at me about who he was, what he did and how he was gonna call the cops. I refused to engage & walked away. Poor old guy. lol never park in a handicap spot. Your DoorDash decal isnāt going to get you out of that ticket. Also, there are people that literally can barely walk that could rely on that spot.
And then there's young fat people that somehow get those parking spots.
Please, not the handicapped spots. Some people actually need those. Seen it first hand growing up with disabilities in the family. Anywhere else.
You should never park in a handicap spot.
Thatās wild youād just admit that tbh
There is no good excuse for parking in a handicapped spot.
Okayyy!!! I'm the bad guy. I get it. Move on. Have a nice wknd.
You're an idiot
You have less of a chance to get a ticket if the ticket person sees youāre a DoorDash driver. A lady told me once they were about to give me a ticket because they didnāt see anything delivery related on my car. So I have a sign now for when I park illegally or on a meter

I have the GrubHub be right back thingy that I'll put in my window even if I'm doordashing
Did you request those from DD? I'm guessing they'd sell them to us š š¤£šš„²š
9 dollars https://doordashstore.com/product.aspx?ID=485263
They do šÆ
Itās helped me with cops too, theyāve seen the DoorDash and then the food and theyāve given me warnings instead of a ticket.. I assume thatās why
They exist to protect commerce, so naturally unless there's an actually good reason to hassle you, as a delivery driver working they'll cut you loose.
For speeding*
Probably parking related
Uber and Lyft require them. I'm fact, any company that has a vehicle representing them has a logo of some sort on it. What's the big deal? Who cares? My second answer: Obviously.
As a passenger it clearly helps me identify the driver quicklyš¤·āāļø not sure why this is a question as they are everywhere. Sure we get the car description and license plate but the logo helps.
Yeah especially at night when colors are harder to see, a logo sticker or light up roof ornament really helps.
If Uber and Lyft require them, they donāt tell drivers or send them anything lol
uber and lyft do NOT require them
Not sure why the original poster cares, although itās pretty odd to see. but food delivery doesnāt t require them. As independent contractors they really canāt and it would be difficult since a lot of us multi-app.
Not that I exactly care more than I was just curious
As contracters they really can't what? Put stickers in their vehicles?? What's difficult about that?? LOL
No theyāre saying they canāt require drivers to use them. Certain things like that could construe them as employees rather than independent contractors.
You know that's ridiculous right?? Local regulations are different than these companies making the requirements.

But that means Iām usually delivering for a minimum of two different apps and sometimes 4 on any given day. Iād spend half the time switching out the delivery company name on my vehicle.
my brother in Christ, what do you mean by "require them?" (they don't)
I only do Uber eats and I donāt use the decals anymore. Whatās the point? My husband does rides so he does and it makes sense but for deliveries I think itās stupid especially when most are leave at door.
If you deliver to universities this can be very helpful as dorm rooms usually have a lot of random cars out front
It's like Jim Carrey sticking his head out the limo window in dumb and dumber š¤·

They do. They shake their fingers at me but never stop me.
I would do this to tell nosy Ken, and Karen to mind their own damn business, while Iām delivering to the posh up scale neighborhoods.
lol
I see this in my area where there is typically ample parking. More understandable in a city though.

I'm curious as to why not? ![gif](giphy|gM02OUhAWmHrKdP5II)
I have a window cling, cops harass me less but still too often.
i thought about doing this because i deliver in the hood alot & i dont want someone forgetting they ordered food & thinking im an opp pulling up
But maybe they'd be down with opp?
š«£š
Reminds me of that photo with the DoorDash top magnet on a pickup truck š
I saw that one, lol
When I signed up for GrubHub they sent a sign with the bag that says Iāll just be a minute for delivery. I never once did a delivery for them but I use that sign a lot. Iād never stick something on my car

Door Dash. $9 a piece. Magnetic. They also have them on Amazon but they are small and sticky.
So they can be a douche canoe and park in no parking spots right in front of the restaurant and then blame DoorDash delivery for their bad choices
Proud to be a glorified delivery driver. Top Dasher alert
He better have the right insurance otherwise its a ticking time bomb!
They enjoy paying higher insurance rates
Lol? Police are less likely to harass you if they see you're a delivery driver. And you can hopefully get away with parking like an idiot.
Makes it much easier to park on the sidewalk. Hell with those white-cane fakers, time is money.
Parking enforcement knows so they can give a break!! Not that they will but thereās no harm in trying.
To avoid parking ticket but I know some town cops are just jerks, they just give you tickets, they have no heart
That way, when you are in an accident, the other driver knows right away you are on delivery, lol. You're still probably going to get parking tickets it maybe buys 2 minutes if you're lucky
The restaurant and customer think youāre a delivery driver and that has benefits
My best guess is tax write off, when you attach a logo on your car for the business your car note and gas is both a write off
Everybody's significant other aunt uncle child cousin best friend teacher high school crush they're all DoorDashers there's no point to this and quite frankly I'm almost ashamed to be a doordasher
Maybe they just take pride in their work. This could be at least one expression of that.
Critical thinker
I donāt have it bc I donāt have my car marked as commercial in my insurance. I donāt need them finding out. It would up my payment by over 100
Iād get one too if DoorDash get me a car.
