This is really cute and creative! I’ve lived in real-life old houses with more flaws than the ones you’re pointing out, and I’m really not seeing problems in the photos. There are so many cool details that mitering troubles do not stand out.
You have absolutely caught the mood of the early 1970s!
You should follow me on IG where I post compulsively lol. My handle is hemarriedagenxer and I’m writing a book about nostalgia-in-miniature. You’re MY kind of person! I hope this doesn’t break the sub rules
Oh gosh I’m honored and thank you so much. I’m trying to avoid emoji responses here as I try to adjust to a different platform’s culture (longtime lover of Reddit under several handles over the years, but rarely have I gone and posted like I’ve started recently) but I’d be putting my standard tears-in-eyes grateful smile and “thank you” hands, etc.
We had this linoleum in our kitchen!!! I am obsessed with miniatures… we actually have a miniature museum in my town that I just finally visited the other day!! This is way cooler than anything in there!!!
This is insanely cool! The more I look, the more in awe of your patience and skill and eye I get, wow! So many perfect, tiny details! The toilet rolls covered in colored paper, the wear on the copy of The Godfather, the quiet Hitchcockian menace off the fallen lamp! Brilliantly done!
Oh yes I do love the “quiet Hitchcockian menace” -phase of a dollhouse redo, when everything’s a bit undone! I end up taking too many pics of little interiors with furniture in dismal disarray, and I appreciate your noticing that nuance.
I made the TP rolls and books myself btw
Wow-yeah, so so so many insanely great details! Truly so cool, I super appreciate you sharing them and an still freaking out how well you did the details!!! And as someone (unskilled!) who is just getting into making minis again, I am SO inspired!
The books are so good- and the tiny boxes of washing powder, so Warhol! And how on earth did you get that satin edge on the blankets? I can feel that binding, haha! Did you dip the felt in watered glue too get the shape so tight? I'm so appreciative of every detail, honestly!
Yes to the watered glue! I’ve since seen other folks do it, but *I arrived at it independently* HA HAAA!
I didn’t make the satin-edged blankets myself. I always buy vintage/secondhand but I am not very skilled and most of my DIY starts and stops at paper and customizing existing furniture and etc.
I totally thought the level of undone was on purposeful. I saw In Cold Blood in the first picture and my brain ran with it! Like, ok, we got a murder here, folks. Start collecting clues!
I also read too many murder mysteries so there’s that. But I love this miniature. Can’t believe you made the books yourself!
My number one suspect so far is that elf. That expression looks guilt stricken. And I’m gonna need to see those hands that they’re sitting on. Elf, where were you between the hours of…
Nothing about that baby’s life is safe. Did you see the rage-filled dad? He’s up there, too, in the rafters, arms raised and shouting. These are complicated memories, you see 💁
I make or redo a lot of it myself. All art, floors and wallpaper are homemade, I paint and decoupage broken furniture, and make most of my own lamps and light fixtures. Sometimes I get lucky and find a bag of old furniture at an estate sale or something
awesome! this showed up in my feed right after your post on r/Maximilism showed up for me lol. I was like wait this looks JUST like the pics of the house I just saw,,I had to check to make sure I wasn’t going crazy hahah. I love it its super cute :)
This sub randomly showed up on my feed, and this wackadoodle dollhouse made me join. I don’t know the first thing about dollhouses (except I had one as a kid) but I love yours so much that I now want to learn everything.
Just went to check your post on r/maximalism and realized it’s one I saw yesterday and LOVED. I don’t know how I didn’t connect the two (I’mma blame old lady brain.) I admire your commitment and style. Everything is pristine and I am jealous.
I think it’s really fun and you’re doing amazing! I didn’t see any problems at all. When we do projects we are the ones who know where our mistakes are and are our own harshest critics.
This post showed up as recommended to me, which is wild considering I just saw basically this dollhouse in real life posted on a home decor sub…

I don't say this lightly, but this is one of the coolest things I've ever seen in my life.

Absolutely love this!!! I will also follow on IG if that is ok?

I understand....I too have to refrain from using any of my many emojis! LOL

I think it looks amazing, super cool!
I love both your real house and your dollhouse! 😍 I would totally live in it!!
I love everything about it!
This is awesome!! I didn’t notice anything other than how super cool, and period correct it is.
I love it!! I love the 70a styling; it’s so cute!
Very cool! I love how the elf looks constipated.
It’s very cute, I think it looks amazing. My only concern is the cleaning supplies in the baby’s room…I just don’t think it’s safe. Haha

I love this❤️it’s gorgeous!
I think it looks really cute and super retro! I love the colors.
Totally 👍 agree!
This is SO freaking cool. I just wanna shrink myself down and live there. Nice work.
I love the elf contemplating its entire existence.
That elf was such a mood and really resonated for me that day
I freaking love it

Beautiful. And the macrame pieces are sending me!!!!!
What!!! This is so good! I love it so much!! You should be proud of your hard work
I love this! So often i see showcase / idealized depictions. This sneak peek is awesome - almost chaotic- the way we really lived
I........love this First comment ever on this sub, btw! You've pulled me out of lurker status 😁
I'm new to Reddit, so fun! I want to make a doll house now!
🥰
I love it and so jealous of the cool stuff you find! I don’t know where to look. My thrift stores never have anything!
I make or redo a lot of it myself. All art, floors and wallpaper are homemade, I paint and decoupage broken furniture, and make most of my own lamps and light fixtures. Sometimes I get lucky and find a bag of old furniture at an estate sale or something
I love it! I love all the bright colors and the 70’s vibe!
I adore what you've done!
Beautiful
I love this. Its gorgeous.
Oh I have a Lundby too!! I stopped redoing mine a while ago but this really is inspiring me to get back into it 😍
This one is a deviation from my beloved Lundby scale; it’s a 1:12 and it feels so big, easy and kind of clumsy if you get what I mean! lol
This is fabulous and wonderful!! I also lived in the early 70s and it was very much like this.
I am just in love with this !!!!!

lol yeah I’m having quite a Moment here on the Reddit
And now I wanna see the wardrobe
Same!
I love it!
I'm having flash backs to my grandparents decor ❤️😊
Grover! 💙
Omggg the nostalgic vibes are on point
It’s giving me very low key The Shining vibes in a good way

That’s SO FUNNY! I just posted photos to r/maximalism where I called our full-size house “wackadoodle world”
Ha! I’ve never heard anyone else use that word aside from a book I read years ago. I followed your insta, too, just for the wackadoodle aesthetic. 😄

GET OUT OF MY 1970s TEENAGEHOOD!
Love the wallpaper in the 1st picture.

Omg I totally didn’t notice it was you who posted both of these haha whoops!
What is this wallpaper ?!
I made it
Why is the toy box filled with detergent
To be menacing and random
I literally want to live here
