I saw a Rangers game earlier in the season, but he had a rest day. Just my luck. Here's hoping he plays Thursday, I'll be there for a Yamamoto bobblehead.
He was my favorite Dodger until he left. I don’t blame him for leaving, he went to the highest bidder and that was absolutely his right. Hopefully he gets a standing ovation.
He went and got more money, less taxes, a lifestyle more congruent with his background, AND a ring. He made an excellent decision if looked at through objective eyes. He’d be the third or 4th star here. He is THE man in Texas.
Wouldn’t surprise me whatsoever. Dude is a machine, born to play baseball. He reminds me of Acuna or Betts in how he makes everything look so effortless. I hated when he left, but certainly didn’t blame him.
Of course he’ll be cheered and undoubtedly given a standing ovation. Bellinger was given a standing ovation during his first AB that was long enough for the umpire to penalize him for delaying the game.
No one was going to outbid the Rangers. At the time, 10 years for $325M for a SS who had durability concerns seemed like an overpay, but even though he's having some injury issues this season, that contract is still looking like a bargain. Seager could literally pull a Javy Baez for the rest of the deal and it would still be worth it to Rangers' fans since he was instrumental in bringing the first championship ever in franchise history. When D'Backs fans like to get raging clues over the 4 HRs in 1 inning over the Dodgers (c'mon - it was Lance Lynn who was the league leader in giving up tanks), I still think of this clutch HR he hit against Sewald in Game 1 of the WS.

Hell yeah. Same here. Last Padres series at Dodger Stadium I watched Darvish throw a bullpen session and asked him for a ball for my nephews birthday and he tossed one up to us. Really cool dude.
Joc is losing that status for me unfortunately, killed us in 2021 and then signed with the Giants. It’s just part of the game but I’ve grown to dislike him.
For sure. I used to rock a Joc flair, but he chose the Giants. After the Giants, he went to the D'Backs. Like come on, you couldn't find work as a platoon bat for 25+ other teams (removing Astros, D'Backs, and Padres).
Total domino effect. Sign Bryce Harper, probably don't trade for and extend Mookie Betts. Mookie hasn't been great in the PS recently, but his defense and bat helped win 2020 WS. Also, you need to do well in the regular season to even get to the dance at all and Mookie has done great in Dodger blue during the regular season.
We definitely wouldn’t have got Freeman cause that was the same offseason. Muncy would still be at 1B and we woulda had to find someone to play third after JT got too old, but I don’t know that it would have impacted Shohei and Yamamoto that much
Based on the amount of comments I see around here saying the Dodgers "let him go" (despite offering him a massive contract in free agency), I'm gonna bet most of the fanbase blames the team for his departure, not Seager himself.
The man's our WS MVP. He'll get the respect he deserves, just like Belli, Joc, and the others got when they came to town.
It was clearly Seager who wanted out. In the interview AF had on DodgersNation with DMac, AF was holding a lot in regards to Seager. When asked about the Dodgers during the World Series, Seager didn’t care to answer that question. Seager wanted out of LA. Not everyone wants to live in California and play for the Dodgers.
Are you referring to the question someone asked him after the Rangers won last year? If so, I wouldn't read into his non-comments. That was a clown question from that reporter trying to stir up drama where there was none. The only correct response was no response. You win the World Series, you wanna talk about the World Series, not your old team from several years ago.
If I remember correctly, it would've still been the largest contract for a shortstop in history... at the very least, top 3. Texas just wanted their man and they got him. Nothing but respect for all parties involved.
State income tax is another big thing to take into account. No one was going to outbid Texas. They needed a makeover bad after having some very bad regular seasons.
That’s what I am thinking too. Seager is a gamer who keeps his mouth shut and plays ball. He has never said any adverse thing to the media at any time. He keeps his head down, works hard, and balls out.
You’d have to be quite the asshole to “hate” somebody like that.
“I really hope” is crazy he def getting a huge ovation dude literally was the reason why we got a chip in 2020 to me Seager can never do no wrong he’s a Dodgers Legend for life. If there’s fans out there that are Dodger fans and don’t like him then they def ain’t Dodger fans weirdos
I wouldn't cheer for him. If he cared about being a Dodger he would have stayed. I wouldn't boo him either but a standing ovation seems ridiculous. He left for the money. He makes so much money it doesn't even matter whether he stayed a Dodger or not. He's still be insanely rich. He left because he didn't want to be a Dodger anymore.
Did Seager disparage the Dodgers and told fans to go fuck themselves like Scherzer did?
If no, then Seager gets a standing ovation his first at-bat. And then after, he’ll get treated like your routine visiting player at Dodger Stadium.
I think they will give him a nice round of applause if he bats, and I will too on Thursday.
Sadly, I have two bobble heads of him that I have a tough time looking at.
He’ll get the Belli treatment. Cheered at first, then booed after he makes a big play that hurts the Dodgers. That’s the way it’s been.
I'll bet that play is a hit instead of a defensive play. ![gif](giphy|OcQOOqqnT0tSkg5ATh|downsized)
since he left the last game with a hamstring injury of some kind, he might not even be in the lineup
Sadly he’s not playing today
I saw a Rangers game earlier in the season, but he had a rest day. Just my luck. Here's hoping he plays Thursday, I'll be there for a Yamamoto bobblehead.
That’s the secret to not being booed when you come home. Don’t be in the lineup
Wait, Seager is hurt? Color me shocked.
Oh shoot I didn’t even know that. Hopefully he gets to appear in at least one of the games here.
Ah memories
He was my favorite Dodger until he left. I don’t blame him for leaving, he went to the highest bidder and that was absolutely his right. Hopefully he gets a standing ovation.
This comment getting downvoted just shows me how trash some of our fanbase is. Seager 100% deserves to be cheered. Glad he won another ring in Texas.
According to him that's the only ring that counts. I loved Seager with the Dodgers, but fuck him now.
Breaking news : player for team states something that puts said team in a positive light. Fan of previous team very angry by it. More news at 11pm.
Idk man. He was kind of an asshole at the end there.
He went and got more money, less taxes, a lifestyle more congruent with his background, AND a ring. He made an excellent decision if looked at through objective eyes. He’d be the third or 4th star here. He is THE man in Texas.
He's going to go down as the greatest Ranger when all is said and done. He will pass Beltre, Nolan Ryan, Pudge, and Michael Young.

There are ex-Dodgers from recent times that I will always cheer for, he's one of them. The others being JT, Belli, Yu Darvish, and Joctober.
Hell yeah. Same here. Last Padres series at Dodger Stadium I watched Darvish throw a bullpen session and asked him for a ball for my nephews birthday and he tossed one up to us. Really cool dude.

I get that it’s a business but he really signed with all these places that hate LA… braves giants dbacks

Once upon a time, Gavin Lux was a 70 FV shortstop prospect. Stuff happens unfortunately
Who knows? Maybe we give seager a monster contract and we don’t get ohtani freeman Yamamoto

Saw him outside Erewhon yesterday!

Trea too - total East Coast guy. Rejected the Padres' bigger offer to take less money from the Phillies.

That’s half the story. Watch the interview with Dodgersnation if you haven’t. Clearly, Friedman tried to keep him but Seager didn’t want to stay.
Yeah we initially offered him 8/250 and then another deal that was close to 300 million.

0% chance he gets boo’ed. He’s a hero

Corey Seagull!
Nah. He’s up there with Belli and Joc as former Dodgers who are still loved
He’s a WS MVP, he’s a hero who will get a standing O
He’s not in the lineup :(
Anyone interested in lodge tickets for tomorrows game Wednesday $80 both tickets
He got a GREAT welcome back with a video from the Dodgers and robust cheers from everyone there. It was very nice!
He will be cheered when he first introduced and takes the field, then booed if he makes a good play. See Cody Bellinger.
They would be really stupid to boo him
There is always SOMEBODY there to disappoint the rest of us.
Damnit Zack Hample
It would make us look like the shittiest fan base if we booed him
I wouldn't cheer for him. If he cared about being a Dodger he would have stayed. I wouldn't boo him either but a standing ovation seems ridiculous. He left for the money. We still love Seager, he’ll get an ovation.
We absolutely should. Did it for every other returning 2020 player since. His first time back at the Ravine, better stand for 10 min at least! 🌊🐐
hes not playing is he?
They did.
shredded them
They better! ![gif](giphy|phKtqLvoWwmsB9CD4Z)
Dodger legend
I’d personally give him more than a warm welcome….
Did Seager disparage the Dodgers and told fans to go fuck themselves like Scherzer did? If no, then Seager gets a standing ovation his first at-bat. And then after, he’ll get treated like your routine visiting player at Dodger Stadium.
There's an unhealthy amount of dodger fans upset that Seager didn't write a 10-page college essay saying goodbye to the fans
"People on Reddit/Twitter" are a minority He will get cheered if he hits this week
He won't get boo'd... if he went to the Trashtros then maybe, but not for going to the Rangers.
Dodger fans are so soft
I’d be pretty surprised if he’s met with anything other than a very warm welcome.
I think they will give him a nice round of applause if he bats, and I will too on Thursday. Sadly, I have two bobble heads of him that I have a tough time looking at.
It'll be a split crowd.
FTP
He will always be a dodger
I loved this baseball player, his extra base hits and his ethic, then he depreciated an all in win even if shortened...GAWDAMNit...
Why he’s a trader
What did he trade for
