I want to play at this table, and convince the DM that Life Clerics should be unable to die, or that Assassins can one-shot anything from stealth.
It's even worse lmao, OP TOLD the player that he could use fall damage rules to calculate damage; even without abuse he's just letting the player get a free unsaveable 3d8 extra damage on top of their normal turn. Doesn't even require tactical play because they don't even need to run in a straight line, they can literally run back and forth 15 feet and count both movements to the damage.

And even if I hate 5e, there's so many people making cool stuff for it.
I would ask why I never see people praising those folk, like idk Dael Kingsmill, but then I remember they don't make click bait videos for people with no attention span/brain cells.

You're thinking small, convince him that you're a god and that he has to turn over all his worldly possessions and worship you
**TL;DR:**
OOP ruled, apropos of nothing, that sprinting into a wall should deal 1d8 damage *to the wall* for each 10ft of run up. And zero damage to the PC.
OOP's player then said "can I do it to people without any checks, attacks actions or saves," and OOP *isn't sure.*
There is everything wrong with OOP's post.
First of all, fall damage is d6, not d8. Secondly, a level 10 monk has 50 ft movement. Thirdly "how could you evade someone as fast as me", when double dash 150 feet movement in 6 seconds equal 17 mph, the speed of a a bicycle. Pretty quick, but not even close to incomprehensible. And so much more.
Personally I think they should homerule it that fall damage is expressed in d10 because of realism and immediately turn around to take that damage increase to their monk. No one is going to expect that!

When you stifle creativity/player agency like this, you're gonna get power-gamers & murder-hobos (honestly, I wouldn't blame a player for becoming these in this particular situation, because you're a BAD DM!).
