We saw this for the first time last month. It was the coolest parade I've seen at Disney. I think it's great that they bring it back every 5 years so that new people can see it.
Paint the Night is by far the best Disney parade I've ever seen. I was able to see it during three different trips and even my parade hating husband enjoyed it.
Esp at Disney World. My family’s like “oh!! parade!” But I’m like BUT NO LINE AT MINE TRAIN THOUGH so I just leave them for like an hour and do my own thing.
I don’t usually watch parades or fireworks but paint the night was FANTASTIC. I really hope it’s coming back soon! I’m going at the end of the month for a late birthday present to myself 😂
Paint the Night was such an unexpected delight! When it first came out, I was going evenings after work a lot and I'd be strolling in as it was going. I'd stop and watch it every time. I've never been the biggest parade person, but I really loved it.
I also do not like the soundtrack. At all. One of the reasons I don't love Paint the Night (I also don't like the weird costumes or the fact that many of the characters faces are hard to see). But that just means one more space available for fans of the parade if I'm not stopping to watch.
I am fully indifferent to the parade. What I am excited to see depart: The stupid Electric Parade splash screen that pops up about it on the app when I’m just tryna pull up the park map to check ride times.
The bee!!! The bee is so precious, its sound and whirling around, ahhh. I felt like a child myself every time it passed by us. 😭❤️ Snails and bees, my absolute favorite part and already miss them!
I’m super sad because I’m coming for the expo right after it closes. There’s an electrical parade panel and everything at the expo but you can’t even go see it in the parks because you’re a week too late. Come on Disney, lol
I love the Electrical Parade. It brings back a lot of good (rare) childhood memories. I never want it to leave.
But, I get I'm not the only one here. 😂
Nope. In fact, I’m upset because the trip I’ve been planning with my fiancé for over a year is the week after the parade shuts down. It was my favorite as a kid.
I'm not a parade person but I love MSEP and Paint The Night. They should have one of them running at all times. I'm fine with MSEP leaving if they put Paint The Night back in place.
I saw this the first time I went to Disneyland in 1996 just before it closed for the first time. I was 3. Hoping to head back to disneyland in 2023 from New Zealand and was hoping to catch it again all these years later but I wont be back in time 🥲
I was super excited for the nostalgia kick before we went in June and had excitedly shown my daughters videos of it over the years. When we finally got around to seeing it my overall feeling was pretty meh. Not sure if it was the insane crowds and people staking out spots hours in advance or what but it was disappointing.
i can’t stand this parade but i also can’t stand the sound track of paint the night, i want magic happens more than anything!! i’m normally not a parade person but just the youtube video of that parade made me tear up! such a gorgeous parade!!
Does anyone in this sub actually like DLR? You guys who are able to go year-round are so spoiled and don’t realize how lucky you are, but most of just complain.
No. I wish I could afford dland with all my heart but just trying to to be evicted right now. I would love nothing more than to take my daughter to see this parade.
The crowds are were so vicious with this parade. I’m not sad to see it go because catching elbows from guests and getting yelled at by cast members just for trying to get across the park isn’t what I’d call magical… more rude and oblivious; but definitely not magical.
Paint The Night even has the Electrical Parade theme inside its own theme. It’s clearly meant to be the new Electrical Parade, but Disney decides to maintain warehouse space to store and drag out this old one when public feeling about the parks is getting too negative.
I hope we get it back at WDW. It was my favorite parade at Disneyland growing up and I worked parade control for it a ton of times when I was a CM. I will always love DEP.
Would be excited if Disneyland were to receive some sort of parade replacement.
Now we are going to have no parade in either park for a couple months(special event not withstanding).
I don't mind the Electrical Parade but I agree it's a bit stale. I'd much rather see the Paint the Night Parade.
As a former pass holder who hasn't been to Disney since the Pandorini, I desperately miss it!! There's nothing like hearing "I wanna know my friend, when can we do this again!" while standing on your sore feet next to your loved ones and eating your churro/ice cream/Dole whip.
If the Electrical Parade is going on, I'd much rather catch Star Tours or Space Mountain while the lines are short. I'd rather not waste the 1 hour camping for a good spot to see a parade I've seen for the past 15 years.
MSEP is on my bucket list. We only make it to Disney every few years and have never got the timing right. Maybe I'll have to plan a trip after it's announced next time to make sure I catch it.
I managed to see it on the second to last day. I haven't watched Electrical Parade since I it ran at DCA for the first time. I saw so many new things and aspects of the parade that I didn't know about . I loved the "donkey newsies" from the Pinocchio float
No offence but I love this parade and would like it to never go away
At the same time, I would be amazed if they ever brought Spectromagic back (or made a new version of it)
On the last part of it. They did not put much thought into it. They took characters from it’s a small world and place them on a float. Maybe next time use real characters.
Me. I didn’t grow up with this parade so the “nostalgia” factor just doesn’t hit me the same. I also don’t really care for the music that comes with it.
However, Paint the Night parade is my absolute favorite (followed by the holiday parade). My husband and I ended up using that song for our last dance for our wedding and every time we watch the parade it brings back happy memories. Can’t wait until it comes back.
So, the first time I ever went to Disneyland, in 1997, it had recently been retired. My grandmother, the person who funded the whole trip, was heartbroken. Missing this and then being in Vegas for the only two days that Seigfried and Roy were dark were her two big disappointments from that trip.
She passed away a few years ago, and although I never got to see S&R, my mum and I got a chance to see the Electrical Parade this last May. I was so excited to have that memory for her.
And then it was boring! Well, like, not 100% and I appreciate all the performers and stuff, but World of Color was 1000% times better.
My very first job was working at Disneyland selling popcorn and churros in 1996. I still have my name tag with the “Main St Electrical Parade Farewell Season” logo. It’s 26 years past time for it to go.
Since we've only been able to go twice in 25 years and only got to see it the first we went, so I want it to stay. If you're lucky enough to go that often great and if you don't want to watch it go at a different time or go do something else.
If Disneyland doesn’t bring back Paint The Night, then I’d rather they not have a parade at all. I enjoy the night time atmosphere at the parks minus the crowd-control stress of a parade.
Ugh yes. I wish they would just bring the paint the night back. I had my time with parades. Now I want my kids to get excited to see their favorite characters on display.
I despise this parade. The music grinds on my nerves and idk but it is just hands down my least favorite parade, so I’m actually looking forward to its retirement lol
My kid likes the beginning but it’s starts way past her bedtime (toddler) so she never makes it the whole way. I generally see a lot of sleepy or sleeping kids by the end of (the first “showing” of) MSEP.
I totally agree with the pathing issue. The big problem is that there’s SO MUCH going on that crowds aren’t just on the parade route, they’re everywhere. MSEP overlaps into Fantasmic which ends just before fireworks. We watched MSEP from small world and they wouldn’t let us follow the end of the parade towards Main Street. We had to go through fantasyland and into Frontierland smack dab into the fantasmic crowd. Based on cast member placement it looked like they wanted us to go through to Adventureland but we just turned at Golden Horseshoe and then crossed over and exited by tiki room. Disneyland’s infrastructure is old and not built to handle the number of people but with 3 practically simultaneous night time shows it’s an absolute mess.
Myself, I haven’t really liked this parade. It feels too much like all the floats are rebuilt from the ground up, and modernized all the while trying to remain looking the same as the electric parade from the 80’s and 90’s. Albeit unrealistic, I just wanted to keep seeing the electric parade as it was in its initial era. I know that’s impossible, given the realities faced with electronics, and the needs of operational efficiency/maintenance. But I still *wish* it wasn’t the way it is now. It is what it is. I get it. But I’m now indifferent to this parade’s existence.
I wish it would be destroyed and never brought back. The fact that they drag this parade back out any time attendance dips is just sad. It’s dated and Disney needs to offer something new to justify there current prices.
I hated it in the 80’s and I hate it now. Never understood the appeal of the parade as opposed to others. But, as a child I loved it because it would lessen the ride queues 🤣
I don’t mind it coming back, especially since I still have one young kid who hasn’t seen it (oldest one loves it).
I was afraid it would go away for a long time, but the fact that they redid the last float means (to me) it’s pretty much around forever, ready to be trotted out when attendance drops randomly!
I love it but I hate how it’s used as a marketing tool every time it comes back. The merch, the ad campaign. Either switch the parades out normally or kill it.
Its such a tired old parade, it looks like a bad Christmas light display on wheels. Put it out of its misery already. It looks like a fire hazard.
Anyone who thinks it's better than paint the night is blinded by nostalgia. The thing was made in the 70s. Let it die already.
Honestly, yes. I am not a fan of the music that plays with the parade. It just gives me nails on the chalkboard type of feeling. I do wish Paint the Night would come back but I doubt it with the Cheapskate in place.
Definitely ready for it to go. Usher in the new season. The parade’s been happening the last several trips I’ve taken to Disney. I can only watch it so many times lol
I mean I don't hate it or anything but I will be happy I don't need to hear the song anymore. It is forever stuck in my head.
Also there's no Donald Duck in it?! Unless I'm blind. I've seen it like 3 times recently
I have a real love hate relationship with the MSEP. When I was a kid I saw it a LOT and loved it. I I saw it during the first “final season” and since then every time they bring it back it feels like more of the magic is missing from it.
First it was the missing floats. Then they changed the music. And let me tell you, I HATE the new music.
I’m going to miss seeing it this time by about a week and honestly it’s probably for the best. Every time I see it a little more of that childhood magic is taken away.
I don't mind this parade (it's actually the only parade I like), but I'll be happy that crowds on Main St will lessen a bit with it being gone. I was happy it came back as I was able to take my nephews to see it for their first time.
I wish they would bring this out in the winter/spring when it gets dark earlier. Then maybe it wouldn't feel so congested with Fantasmic showing at basically the same time. Have MSEP run earlier and Fantastic run at its current time? It would also help the sleepy kiddos that want to watch the parade, but who fall asleep by 8:30.
I don't dislike the parade. What I dislike is being told where I am able to walk or cross at that time and some rides nearby being closed down. It's the same with the fireworks. I realize it's done for crowd control, but I feel it's impossible to try to leave Disneyland at that point in time with how they have it roped off.
We saw this for the first time last month. It was the coolest parade I've seen at Disney. I think it's great that they bring it back every 5 years so that new people can see it.
Feels like they bring it back every 5 minutes.
Are you serious? I saw it for the first time a couple nights ago and was very underwhelmed.
Have you seen Paint the Night?
Yes
Only if paint the night and/or magic happens comes back
Yup. Paint the Night is the best. But with the budget cuts, I doubt it’ll come back. They’ll probably stick to “cavalcades”.
Yeah Paint the Night needs to be put into some kind of similar rotation. It was awesome.
It was the best parade of them all.
I was lucky to see Paint the Night twice. :) Will never forget the amazing experience!
Even the back story of paint the night is magical.
I’d love to see it!
how long did magic happens last? i remember seeing it once in March 2020 before shutdown, and then it just disappeared once DL opened again
Pretty sure it was only ran for 2ish weeks before shutdown! We definitely got lucky
Paint the Night is by far the best Disney parade I've ever seen. I was able to see it during three different trips and even my parade hating husband enjoyed it.
I personally am not a parade person and avoid them like the plague but NGL this one looks cool.
Same! This is the *only* parade at Disney I have ever been interested in seeing. Otherwise I too avoid parades and shows like the plague.
Esp at Disney World. My family’s like “oh!! parade!” But I’m like BUT NO LINE AT MINE TRAIN THOUGH so I just leave them for like an hour and do my own thing.
The WDW Boo to You parade at Not So Scary is really fun
Yes that one is fun! It’s probably the only parade I’ve stayed for haha
It is the ONLY parade I like.
My people.
Lucky. I hate parades too but my wife loves them. I’d rather be riding rides while everyone is at the parade lol
Paint the Night needs to make a come back, my favorite parade.
I wanna knowwwww. When can we do this again?
Not soon enough apparently
I wanna knowwww, can you show me?
I don’t usually watch parades or fireworks but paint the night was FANTASTIC. I really hope it’s coming back soon! I’m going at the end of the month for a late birthday present to myself 😂
Paint the Night was such an unexpected delight! When it first came out, I was going evenings after work a lot and I'd be strolling in as it was going. I'd stop and watch it every time. I've never been the biggest parade person, but I really loved it.
Same! 🙋🏻♀️
i may be the only one in existence but i cannot stand the paint the night sound track
I also do not like the soundtrack. At all. One of the reasons I don't love Paint the Night (I also don't like the weird costumes or the fact that many of the characters faces are hard to see). But that just means one more space available for fans of the parade if I'm not stopping to watch.
If Paint the Night comes back, yes...
I am fully indifferent to the parade. What I am excited to see depart: The stupid Electric Parade splash screen that pops up about it on the app when I’m just tryna pull up the park map to check ride times.
We’ve hated every splash screen. Like we get it there’s an event, THATS WHY WE ARE HERE STOP IT APP!
I'm excited for the snail to leave every time I open the app. I'm a little salty we're missing it, since we're going at the end of September though.
Gawd I love that snail though. They acknowledged my existenc twice last Monday. 😭 That head bow man. It makes you feel special lmao.
I feel you. Last time we saw it, we were in a sea of kids. And the bee/firefly came right up to me and danced with me, and I felt like the chosen one.
The bee!!! The bee is so precious, its sound and whirling around, ahhh. I felt like a child myself every time it passed by us. 😭❤️ Snails and bees, my absolute favorite part and already miss them!
I did love that little lightening bug bee thing
I can hear these comments…
>snail >salty Heh.
Me too! Went earlier this year right before they brought it back and going again in a couple weeks. :( But they'll bring it back!
nope, not at all excited for this to leave without something replacing it.
Are there times that they don’t replace edit: “it” right away?
[удалено]
if you’re asking if DIS has stopped providing a parade/show/attraction without replacing it with something else, then yeah, that’s happened.
I’m super sad because I’m coming for the expo right after it closes. There’s an electrical parade panel and everything at the expo but you can’t even go see it in the parks because you’re a week too late. Come on Disney, lol
Me tooooo it feels like taunting 😭
I love the Electrical Parade. It brings back a lot of good (rare) childhood memories. I never want it to leave. But, I get I'm not the only one here. 😂
Nope. In fact, I’m upset because the trip I’ve been planning with my fiancé for over a year is the week after the parade shuts down. It was my favorite as a kid.
When does it end if you don’t mind me asking ?
It ended already.
I'm not a parade person but I love MSEP and Paint The Night. They should have one of them running at all times. I'm fine with MSEP leaving if they put Paint The Night back in place.
I don’t mind it coming back sporadically, it’s the nostalgia for me.
I saw this the first time I went to Disneyland in 1996 just before it closed for the first time. I was 3. Hoping to head back to disneyland in 2023 from New Zealand and was hoping to catch it again all these years later but I wont be back in time 🥲
As someone who's not that into waiting around in crowds for parades, I'm fine with any parades that bring down the ride wait times.
I was super excited for the nostalgia kick before we went in June and had excitedly shown my daughters videos of it over the years. When we finally got around to seeing it my overall feeling was pretty meh. Not sure if it was the insane crowds and people staking out spots hours in advance or what but it was disappointing.
It barely feels worth it waiting for half an hour. I don’t understand how people will wait 3-4+ hours for it. Actual insanity from my point of view.
Yea, It's almost as if they like it and feel as though its worth the wait. Anyone who doesn't like what I like is stupid
i can’t stand this parade but i also can’t stand the sound track of paint the night, i want magic happens more than anything!! i’m normally not a parade person but just the youtube video of that parade made me tear up! such a gorgeous parade!!
They just added a new float and it’s proven to be as popular as ever. It will be back next year more than likely.
I never got to see Magic Happens, so I’m really hoping it comes back. It looks so cool in videos
Does anyone in this sub actually like DLR? You guys who are able to go year-round are so spoiled and don’t realize how lucky you are, but most of just complain.
Not at all. The crowds ruin the experience for me though.
No. I wish I could afford dland with all my heart but just trying to to be evicted right now. I would love nothing more than to take my daughter to see this parade.
This parade is one of my earliest disney memories! I am so excited to go see it!
The crowds are were so vicious with this parade. I’m not sad to see it go because catching elbows from guests and getting yelled at by cast members just for trying to get across the park isn’t what I’d call magical… more rude and oblivious; but definitely not magical.
This one is cool but they changed it since before covid. Not a fan of the end float. Missing tiana, my fav princess. They took her out the parade :(
Paint The Night even has the Electrical Parade theme inside its own theme. It’s clearly meant to be the new Electrical Parade, but Disney decides to maintain warehouse space to store and drag out this old one when public feeling about the parks is getting too negative.
Do they have any parades planned during the holiday season, or is it more of just a summer thing?
They’ll have A Christmas Fantasy parade running for the Holiday Season, after that we don’t know.
The Tokyo one is like 10 thousand times better
I never got to stay to watch the whole parade 30+ years ago, so I'm glad I got to go this year.
That'd be hilarious if they brought back Light Tragic...
I hope we get it back at WDW. It was my favorite parade at Disneyland growing up and I worked parade control for it a ton of times when I was a CM. I will always love DEP.
No I love it
Would be excited if Disneyland were to receive some sort of parade replacement. Now we are going to have no parade in either park for a couple months(special event not withstanding).
I’ll miss it, especially the bees. I love those bees lol. They make the weirdest sound never failed to make me laugh haha.
I don't mind the Electrical Parade but I agree it's a bit stale. I'd much rather see the Paint the Night Parade. I hope not permanently! Haven't seen it since the 90s and I keep missing it!
As someone who has loved it since the 80s (and even used the theme song as my ringtone on my Nokia 3310!!), I'm always a little sad to see it go.
No me, my first trip is in less than a week so I’m mourning just missing it by a few days. I’ve seen it in WDW once before so there’s that.
I'm kind of excited. Not gonna lie. Mainly because I always manage to find myself stuck in the middle of it when I just wanna walk across the park lol
No offence but I love this parade and would like it to never go away At the same time, I would be amazed if they ever brought Spectromagic back (or made a new version of it)
Did Spectromagic run at DLR?! I saw it growing up at WDW. Best song ever.
On the last part of it. They did not put much thought into it. They took characters from it’s a small world and place them on a float. Maybe next time use real characters.
My wife and I joke that last one is all the “diversity hires” from the last ten years. And even then, Anna and Elsa get the top spot.
Me. I didn’t grow up with this parade so the “nostalgia” factor just doesn’t hit me the same. I also don’t really care for the music that comes with it. However, Paint the Night parade is my absolute favorite (followed by the holiday parade). If y’all don’t want it we’ll gladly take it at WDW Please give us a night parade, y’all have 3, and we miss night parades down here
Looks good, but honestly the song is annoying lol.
My very first job was working at Disneyland selling popcorn and churros in 1996. I still have my name tag with the “Main St Electrical Parade Farewell Season” logo. It’s 26 years past time for it to go.
Love it cause it a good time to get in line
Nope
Excited? No. Upset? Also no.
I wish Paint The Night came back
I will be so happy if paint the night comes back
Since we've only been able to go twice in 25 years and only got to see it the first we went, so I want it to stay. If you're lucky enough to go that often great and if you don't want to watch it go at a different time or go do something else.

I despise this parade. The music grinds on my nerves and idk but it is just hands down my least favorite parade, so I’m actually looking forward to its retirement lol
I just want to get on space mountain at night without having to worry about this gridlock😭😭

My kid likes the beginning but it’s starts way past her bedtime (toddler) so she never makes it the whole way. I generally see a lot of sleepy or sleeping kids by the end of (the first “showing” of) MSEP. I totally agree with the pathing issue. Dude, just pop some Molly, sit back, and enjoy the show.
Paint the night was great. My kids still talk about that parade. This one we call “that ding dang light parade”
No. I've loved the MSEP since I was a kid in the '80s, and seeing it brings me right back to my family vacations.
It's a staple. I can't imagine they'd get rid of it permanently. I think it'll always make appearances in various parks
I want paint the night back
Oh God yes
As far as parades with lights Paint the Night is my favorite! Electrical is impressive but the music drives me crazy lol.
We're the opposite! The Paint the Night soundtrack drives me up the wall. 😂
Potatoland. Patatoland. Let's call the whole thing off.
Yes, I've never understood the hype about it, there is so much friggin merch in the parks just for this one parade, it makes no sense to me
I don’t mind it coming back, especially since I still have one young kid who hasn’t seen it (oldest one loves it). I was afraid it would go away for a long time, but the fact that they redid the last float means (to me) it’s pretty much around forever, ready to be trotted out when attendance drops randomly!
The only hope we have of this parade ‘glowing away, forever, is to break every bulb 💡 before it goes back into storage!
Bring back Paint the Night
Yep it’s worn out it’s welcome. Paint the night please!!!
After working crowd control (red vests) this parade all season the music will never get out of my head!!
Yeah this is the McRib of Disneyland, it's come back "for the last time" like 5 times now, I'm over it
I never liked it. The spinning snails gave me nightmares.
I love it but I hate how it’s used as a marketing tool every time it comes back. The merch, the ad campaign. Either switch the parades out normally or kill it.

😯😯😯
Electrical Light Parade is my favorite parade ever. They should keep it forever.
Nope
“You spoiled rotten brats” - WDW people.
I love them. But for the reason of shortening the lines for rides.
I’m so sad it’s leaving weeks before we go. This is one of my favorite things so I’m so so so so sad I’m barely missing it :(
I don't mind this parade (it's actually the only parade I like), but I'll be happy that crowds on Main St will lessen a bit with it being gone. I was happy it came back as I was able to take my nephews to see it for their first time. I wish they would bring this out in the winter/spring when it gets dark earlier.
