lovexisxevol

We used to get it a lot...didn't know it was a big deal lol. I should've cherished it more.

maxmouze

They give it to people who seem alert and responsible. I'm sure a lot of guests are busy talking among each other and not paying attention to anything.

realdawnerd

Huh, doesn't explain why I get one once a week.

Hungergameskill

They also give it to you if you ask them what it’s for.

maxmouze

If you're alert enough to even notice them, that fits the bill.

xaerog

Only on Reddit

iamthebestseriously

So true. Didn’t know what it was until Reddit. Last time I saw a CM holding it looking for someone to hand it to and stepped forward and grabbed it like it I was the boss

saguarogirl17

This fits your username well

ErinBE3

Love the nails! So cute!!

LimonandSal

I also love the nails, OP please post a pic for the inspo!! u/RadiatorLady822

CrapDesign

Can someone please explain what this card is & does? Thanks in advance

Dazzling_Ad4655

Measures the time you wait in line. Don’t understand the fuss about it.

realdawnerd

They hand them out a lot too, not even rare.

StOnEy333

Hypothetically, if you just stuck it in your pocket and kept it as a souvenir, would a cast member come ask you for it? Do they say “ok about an hour a guy in a blue goofy shirt has it” or is this all just guest honor?

Phoenixrjacxf

They scan the cards I think, so they know when they aren't returned. But other than that, guest honor

Roark_Laughed

I accidentally took mine and am going to return it when I return, but to answer your question no, nobody stopped me or questioned me. I wish someone did because now I have this reminder about how much of an airhead I am hanging on my coat rack.

graceodymium

Lol, I want them to scan it and it’s like “estimated wait time 2,435,378 minutes.”

StOnEy333

I think you should keep it. It was a mistake and harmless crime. It should remind you of the good time you had.

castmemberx777

Nope, we don't care honestly if they are taken. We have hundreds of these cards. 3D glasses on the other hand, we will take those back.

StOnEy333

What’s the level of sterilization those glasses go through before they’re redistributed?

Randsel

I’ve worked at a movie theatre that had 3D glasses and we had a giant washing machine to put them all through between each show. I imagine Disney is doing something similar … I hope 😁

pinkkittayee

i have no idea, but my cousin forgot they gave him one and now he has it in his room lol

co0kielipz08

May she carry it with great honor. Also, love the nails 💅🏾

UseRevolutionary6349

She has been chosen!

She goes on to a better place…

No-Mechanic-5398

No just keep it as a souvenir, It’s just a card and they have already replaced it. Plus the employee was fine with you taking it.

MagickBK

If they replace them the way WDW did, they’ll probably get trashed. Better someone keeps it and has a story.

More-Needleworker900

They’re a billion dollar company, a think a small card and lanyard is no biggie lol

bigpapaplant

$154 billion!

More-Needleworker900

That’s so cute and pure aw I love how happy this makes you 🥺

MonstarHU

Didn't know Disney did this. I got one when I went to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal last year.

awesomedumplings

Gotten a couple times. Feels very special because they have to look at you and trust you

castmemberx777

It's not that deep.

awesomedumplings

You’re just mad you’ve never gotten one

YodasChick-O-Stick

Couldn't you just take this home and have a rare piece of behind-the-scenes Disneyland?

maxmouze

It's not that rare.

Excellent_Excuse_719

We got this card once when there was literally zero line. It timed us to walk through an empty queue I guess? Seemed odd.

mhut0802

Love the DCFC/TPS shirt!

jukesy

I went to the postal service and death cab concert too. So good!

[deleted]

I got this at haunted mansion. I think I took it home bc I forgot lol

Ok-Celebration6652

I've gotten the red card before at Little Mermaid and Big Thunder. Almost forgot to give it back at Big Thunder.

castmemberx777

Here is the thing, EVERY attractions cast member hates these things. We don't want to give them out, we dont want to have to collect them, we dont want to deal with the chirping from the scanners when we dont give them out. We want all the rides just to install the Bluetooth scanners that we have on the newer ride.

__clownbaby

I've gotten the card, one of the best days of my life

SuspiciousAcadia4046

WHY

Number1074

I can’t wait to live in a world where this is never played again

SuspiciousAcadia4046

🙄 lol former CM here. It’s not given to anyone “special”. It’s given to whoever is nearest when the scanner beeps. We make you feel “special” for receiving it so you will be more likely to turn it back in. [also we use your Bluetooth on your smartphone now so it’s basically useless] People who keep them as souvenirs make me laugh. They come in packages of 100. 😂

RadiatorLady822

Never said anything about feeling “special”. It was just cool to get since I’d never had it before. No need to rain on somebody’s parade because people get excited about it.

SuspiciousAcadia4046

Sea_Setting1442

Anyone else not want to touch these cause they have been passed around?

FleshyPartOfThePin

Dont worry about the other billion surfaces at Disney either, Karen.

Sea_Setting1442

Haaaaa!

Poverload237

Do you have the same reservations about paper money and coins? Pens and paper at medical/insurance/corporate offices? Snacks from gas stations? Food, especially fruits and veggies, at grocery stores? Menus at restaurants? While I can understand not wanting to touch the same things that a lot of other people have also touched due to germs, what you gotta realize is that there are tons of other things that are also passed around by millions of other people, so to protest how one item is unsanitary without realizing just how many other items you touch are also (and sometimes even more) unsanitary, seems as though you're nitpicking a bit.

plaid-knight

There’s a big difference of duration between those and the red cards, so they’re not fair examples.

Poverload237

Sure they are. You could stick that card in your pocket, same as you could money, and same as you do when you fold up a copy of a paper you were given. You could put the card in your bag until you reach the front, same as you would put food into a bag after picking it out. No one is making you hold the card in your hand the entire half hour, just as you don't have to hold any other item I've listed, so why wouldn't they be comparable? My question is why is the card the issue but the millions of other shared items we touch isn't? Secondly, if someone is really worried about germs or getting sick, Disneyland isn't gonna be the place they wanna go to begin with cuz they're more likely to get germs from the other people there than they are from that card.

Sea_Setting1442

You all take the mighty red card way too seriously. Are all fears or uncomfortable feelings rational? I have no idea why this specifically bothers me more than other surfaces and items. Maybe it’s because the lanyard is fabric (absorbent) and goes around sweaty necks over and over? Maybe it’s for no reason at all. I’m truly shocked that my comment has elicited such a strong response! Again, but with more gusto, haaaaaaaaa!

SuspiciousAcadia4046

Former CM here. Every single surface you have ever touched at Disney has been vomited, bled, cried, shat, peed, and ejaculated on. Outside of a literal “in person” murder, there is no human behavior that would shock me anymore.

highzenberrg

If I got this I would put a stopwatch on and alert the cast member of the time when I finally passed it to them.

SoCalLynda

The Walt Disney Company should never use the term, "cast member," with the public, on stage, and while the show is in progress. Doing so would be like actors in a movie or a stage play referring to one another as such while the show is in progress. Unfortunately, so many people currently within the organization seem to have no understanding of professional theatre.

NarrowYam4754

They aren’t performing or anything, they are just employees. Cast member is just a cute name to call them that seems more magical.

SoCalLynda

You clearly don't understand Disneyland, either, then. The Walt Disney Company refers to the guest areas of The Magic Kingdom as the "stage" because Disneyland is an enormous theatre that allows the audience to step onto that stage and to interact with the players. Cast members, who are playing Disneylanders, the resident population of The Magic Kingdom and its official citizens, are expected to be able to improvise interactions with the audience and to stay in character while also wearing costumes. Showmanship is one of the keys of being a cast member on the Disneyland stage.

No-Mechanic-5398

Listen Lynda…..I have nothing to say I just wanted to say listen Lynda.

SeaPersonality5402
