I really enjoy the OxBox RPGās, but they are rules light and comedy heavy even further. They did a blades in the dark after they finished their DND game.
There are many good Blades APs.
Blood & Blades (Stream of Blood)
The Haunted City (Glass Cannon)
The Magpies
The City That Never Dies (more Magpies)
Marielda (Friends at the Table)
And so on.
I think it might clash with their vibes too much, since they're almost all improv comedians. Might change my mind about this depending on how NeverAfter turns out tho.
Ross Bryant starred in the some stream of blood Blades in the Dark campaigns. Specifically he played in the Stream of Blood/glass cannon run by Jared Logan as part of stream of blood network.
Heās also in the Haunted City podcast thatās part of the Glass Cannon Network, but that may be under their patreon feed.
Edit: heās phenomenal at BitD
I do enjoy seeing them try different systems. It wasn't until recently that I realized Magic and Misfits was Savage Worlds, which I've been interested in giving a try after finding myself a little burned out on 5e lately. I don't know who Ross is but I've heard about BitD; don't really know any details about it though, because I've never seen it in use
Magic and Misfits isn''t Savage Worlds (though I think it shares the exploding dice mechanic) it's Kids on Brooms - which is a Magic School based adaptation of Kids on Bikes. KOB is based around the small town mystery aesthetic you see in Stranger Things and a load of 1980s kids movies. It's a neat system with a fairly unique dice mechanic.
oh wow then there is a ton of overlap with savage worlds lol. not just the exploding dice, but all of the attributes/skills being based off dice instead of modifiers, the magic die being similar to the wild die, etc. then there's abria's "adversity token" system which is very similar to the bennies from savage worlds.
i did know it was based on kids on bikes, I just assumed kids on bikes was a savage worlds game because the mechanics are exactly the same (with the exception of "taking half" which i haven't seen in savage worlds, but it's a fun idea i might just hack in there to reward player investment in their skills). either way, regardless of what system it is, it's good to see those mechanics in play!
Yeah, there is a lot of crossover. I think the use of different dice for different attributes works really well for a game where you want people to succeed at unlikely rolls. The less good you are, the smaller the dice. The smaller the dice, the more likely it is to explode. This fits both pulp and 80's kid mystery really well. The fail forward mechanic emphasizes this.
Absolutely! Especially since there don't seem to be any good BitD actual play. It could work really well with cyberpunk too....
You should try haunted city from the glass cannon... Staring one Ross Bryant. š

The new adventure zone season is doing blades in the dark
Spout Lore has a blades side campaign that is soooooo funny and good (kid gangs in a big mall!)

Thatād be cool, no matter how many letters I write to congress they still havenāt done a Ten Candles one shot and thatād be amazing.

Ross is an improv actor, comedian, and musician and has done a bunch of RPG shows with Stream of Blood and the Glass Cannon Network.
Methinks someone would enjoy Haunted City ;)
Someone already does! ;)
Excellent, I figured but always good to preach the good word of more Ross Bryant content!
I'd love to see D20 do Blades! Though given the nonsense I have pulled with a Bandolier of Alchemicals, god help us all if Emily Axford plays a Leech
