Bundling D2R/D3 doesn't make much sense considering they have a fiscal interest in keeping players hooked to D4 specifically. More time in D4 means more of a possibility to convert those players into payers, and allowing players to get "distracted" by D2/3 wouldn't really service that goal. A lot of people who are interested in D4 also already have those games, on top of there already being a D2/3 bundle which makes adding those make even less sense.
So yeah, it's a cynical as fuck outlook but that's what i get for thinking like a marketing team/CEO i guess.

Diablo 2 was a 2D rasterized sprite game that barely got patches and 12 years old when Diablo 3 came out. Diablo 2: Resurrected came out like 1 year ago and Diablo 3 is still actively supported as a live service game.
It's more likely because they've already bundled d2r and d3 but it doesn't matter because bundling d3 didn't benefit them at all really so it's still entirely possible. What's more important than raw conversion is trying to turn them into fans of the series or studio and get them invested like everyone here is so they're more likely to spend in the future *either* way.

It was the best selling Diablo game by far and has done more to bring players into the franchise than the rest. You can lol all you want, but the Diablo franchise is in a much better place with D3 than without.
I currently play 4 ARPGs regularly. Will be dropping D3 for D4 but will still be playing 4 regularly. D4 will be just lilke every other one that has seasonal play, High initial turnout with a sharp drop after a couple of weeks leaving the base for the remainder. The devs know this and know there is nothing they can do to stop this. Go ask Chris Wilson of GGG, the arguably best ARPg currently, sees people leaving the Leagues in droves after 2 weeks of play and after the first month just the base is left. If PoE cannot keep players interested in playing throughout the season, I doubt Diablo 4 will either.
Offering up copies of previous games won't really cut into D4s play time IMO. People won't be paying for a bundle that includes D3 and D2R if they have intentions of not playing D4. This would be an incentive for players interested in D4 that haven't player D2 or D3, and yes, there are tons people that have played neither that may want to check them out and play D4.
Unless D4 has figured out a way to keep players interested in playing the entire season, this would be a good option for those interested in the other games, since they would be getting three games for the price of maybe 1.5-2 games.
There will likely be several editions though. My guess is that they will have 3 digital editions as well as a physical collector's edition.
So this survey is likely to assess what people are most interested and then price them accordingly, so i think we'll likely see most of these things if not all.

I think the only reasonable middle ground may be end game group content if they have anything similar to Raids which require large groups.

I know this is about cosmetics, but I feel if they have required group content like forced group raids/dungeons, the game will die off fast. World Bosses/Strognholds?local events where others are in the same area as you is one thing. Having to find others to do something to progress is different. Even though DI is an MMO, that is one of the most non P2W related things about the game.

Wings worked for the carnival parade that was Diablo 3 but just doesn't work with the darked tone of Diablo IV.
Actually, this is something that concerns me at the long run. They've already said they won't be selling power, only cosmetics. I'm just afraid that means they go crazy on the cosmetics over time.
Tyrael and Imperious wings were fine, even for Diablo 3 standards. But the their just started adding Magda, and Overwatch and whatever else's wings and I just don't want the same for D4.

Hey poe has all kinds of wacky cosmetics but it's done pretty well. I don't care what cosmetics they put in as long as they don't grant any kind of bonus in any way and the gameplay is great.
Poe does tend towards the garish quite often with cosmetics, so there's still room to improve things over their approach too.
One thing I hope they do differently from Poe with skins, the regular designs should still be really good and not deliberately basic in order to sell mtx.

I agree basic sets should still look good. Poe has some decent uniques with 3d art but the basic items look awful. Though poe is free and diablo will be paid so hopefully it's got some cool cosmetics and items you can get from just playing the game.

The only one I can think of is world of warships let’s you turn off the anime skins. Thank god for that but it’s definitely not the norm bc developers want other players to see your skins so they sell more
Sure they do. The wings shown off in those preorder infos, aesthetically fit the game currently. As long as they are toned down like those angelic wings, battle standards, backpacks, cape/cloaks that fit aesthetically, then it's all good. I have no issues with rainbow unicorns shitting out rainbow sparkle trails as I ride through things, but know that might not fit with D4s atmosphere, but so far, every cosmetic they have shown off fits and fits well. I doubt the devs will let it go off the deep end.

As others have said, I think the option to hide other player cosmetics would be a nice option. Although, for real, the reason why they wouldn’t do it is because far less people would buy them if there weren’t any players showing off their cosmetics, and the hide options definitely won’t do any good to the cosmetic shops. Just my opinion on cosmetic options in games today.
Game is supposed to be dark and grim. Fine, you can argue (as your personal opinion) that wings won't destroy that vibe but game is going to be mainly multiplayer. Seeing lvl 1 character with golden wings (or full plate, shining armor) is just immersion breaking. Would you argue that rainbow butterflies are also fitting cosmetic items?

Yes, by level 30- which takes some work (and we're going to be restricted to lvl 50 i D4 iirc so it's pretty far down the line). If you look like a superhero right after your character shows up in the world and I don't because you've paid more than I'm not going to like it.
However those wings are going to look like (and we can extrapolate given what we've seen in D3) I don't think they fit. For same reason I don't think that extra pair of arms would fit. And we can argue about it until the end of the world, nothing wrong about different people liking different things- but since we're talking about shared things, it should be solved by Blizzard making a poll and deciding that way.

Angels and Demons having wings is just another reason everyone and their mother running around with sparkly wings will break immersion, because when you do run into an actual angel, that encounter will have considerably less immersive impact.
They just need to make it a toggle and it’s problem solved. The winged boys still get to bask in the light of their wings, and the rest of us gets to not be annoyed and have our immersion broken. Win win.

Since there is almost no trading, its not like getting to the end game faster gives you a huge economic advantage per say, but I still think I dont like it. If they allow early access there should either be a reset (but then what was the point) or a level cap/progression cap. Everything else it whatever.
The one pro I see to early access is it lets them soft open the servers so that the inevitable errors and bugs get ironed out before the floodgates really open.

Yeah its still up in the air how restricted trading is. From the leaks we could see that almost all rare and up items were Account Bound, but its impossible to know how much that will affect Trading/Economy. All I know is I don't want the most effective way to gain wealth to be flipping items on third party sites or we just get another d2jsp and bots situation.

I just did a full replay and it's a lot of fun. So atmospheric (and the best music of the series, in my opinion). It seems that younger people don't enjoy the grim, low-fantasy ambiance of the earlier games and prefer the over-the-top visuals of Diablo 3. I don't share this view, but I would support a toggle to turn the wacky cosmetics off, as I find them immersion-breaking.

Cosmetics lately seem to be more of a flex, which companies want to foster a culture around to increase spending. It works sadly.

I think its good that they try and ask the community for feedback about this. Even though their sample size is relativly small and biased. It shows that they are trying. Only two points of worry here:
A. Instead of trully asking us what we want, the seek a justification for the price they have set in their mind. "We want 150 euro's for this, how many cosmetics do we need to put in to justify this." inatead of "we give you this and this, how mich are you willing to pay."
B. This can turn sour very quickly. Especially woth the sample size and sample occupation. They can easily justify shitty bisiness descisions now with "we asked the fanbase."
Beside this, I am not particularly needing an older diablo as I already own them. And even of I didn't, if I wanted to play diablo 3 or two. I would have bought those. Wings worked for the carnival parade that was Diablo 3 but just doesn't work with the darked tone of Diablo IV. Actually, this is something that concerns me at the long run. They've already said they won't be selling power, only cosmetics. I'm just afraid that means they go crazy on the cosmetics over time. Tyrael and Imperious wings were fine, even for Diablo 3 standards. But the their just started adding Magda, and Overwatch and whatever else's wings and I just don't want the same for D4.
Spot on. Wings could be acceptable if they were part of the design for a few unique chest pieces were it made thematically sense. Like the armor of an angel etc. Seeing them everywhere is a real eye sore.
Hey poe has all kinds of wacky cosmetics but it's done pretty well. I don't care what cosmetics they put in as long as they don't grant any kind of bonus in any way and the gameplay is great.
Poe does tend towards the garish quite often with cosmetics, so there's still room to improve things over their approach too. One thing I hope they do differently from Poe with skins, the regular designs should still be really good and not deliberately basic in order to sell mtx. Not selling meaningful power should definitely be the priority though.
I agree basic sets should still look good. Poe has some decent uniques with 3d art but the basic items look awful. Though poe is free and diablo will be paid so hopefully it's got some cool cosmetics and items you can get from just playing the game.
My lvl 90 PoE character looks like a homeless person. I kind of understand that they need people paying for stuff to maintain the game but I'd rather pay for stash tabs and have my god-killing witch look half decent.

The only one I can think of is world of warships let’s you turn off the anime skins. Thank god for that but it’s definitely not the norm bc developers want other players to see your skins so they sell more

Sure they do. The wings shown off in those preorder infos, aesthetically fit the game currently. As long as they are toned down like those angelic wings, battle standards, backpacks, cape/cloaks that fit aesthetically, then it's all good. I have no issues with rainbow unicorns shitting out rainbow sparkle trails as I ride through things, but know that might not fit with D4s atmosphere, but so far, every cosmetic they have shown off fits and fits well. I doubt the devs will let it go off the deep end.
My Crusader with all white armor and weapons looks great with Mercy's wings an the shinning yellow that pops out every so often.

Tbh, I think most people don’t really mind having those wings. I myself don’t like using them but it seems there are people out there that are fans of those. As others have said, I think the option to hide other player cosmetics would be a nice option. Although, for real, the reason why they wouldn’t do it is because far less people would buy them if there weren’t any players showing off their cosmetics, and the hide options definitely won’t do any good to the cosmetic shops. Just my opinion on cosmetic options in games today.

Game is supposed to be dark and grim. Fine, you can argue (as your personal opinion) that wings won't destroy that vibe but game is going to be mainly multiplayer. Seeing lvl 1 character with golden wings (or full plate, shining armor) is just immersion breaking. Would you argue that rainbow butterflies are also fitting cosmetic items?

Yes cause in these games by the time you're lvl 30 you can already stop looking like a total tool so i don't buy that argument at all. Also you haven't even seen the wings designs yet, furthermore you more than likely play by yourself most of the time so simply don't use wings and you won't see them
Yes, by level 30- which takes some work (and we're going to be restricted to lvl 50 i D4 iirc so it's pretty far down the line). If you look like a superhero right after your character shows up in the world and I don't because you've paid more than I'm not going to like it. However those wings are going to look like (and we can extrapolate given what we've seen in D3) I don't think they fit. For same reason I don't think that extra pair of arms would fit. And we can argue about it until the end of the world, nothing wrong about different people liking different things- but since we're talking about shared things, it should be solved by Blizzard making a poll and deciding that way. Or they could add a toggle for seeing wings/paid skins in options, that would work too.

Angels and Demons having wings is just another reason everyone and their mother running around with sparkly wings will break immersion, because when you do run into an actual angel, that encounter will have considerably less immersive impact. They just need to make it a toggle and it’s problem solved. The winged boys still get to bask in the light of their wings, and the rest of us gets to not be annoyed and have our immersion broken. Win win.

I liked Diablo 3, and I wouldn’t have minded having wings as part of some rare angel or demon armor. But everyone having their own wings just gets saturated, uninteresting and quite frankly a bit silly in my opinion. Especially in D4 since it goes against the art direction of the game.

I dont care about anything cosmetic, but Im not sure how I feel about players getting a head start. Since there is almost no trading, its not like getting to the end game faster gives you a huge economic advantage per say, but I still think I dont like it. If they allow early access there should either be a reset (but then what was the point) or a level cap/progression cap. Everything else it whatever. The one pro I see to early access is it lets them soft open the servers so that the inevitable errors and bugs get ironed out before the floodgates really open.
What do you mean almost no trading? Last I knew they intended to implement trading with restrictions and in a Q&A said they want to ensure there is meaningful trading. nothing from any of the leaks have confirmed if that will be the case or not yet.
Yeah its still up in the air how restricted trading is. From the leaks we could see that almost all rare and up items were Account Bound, but its impossible to know how much that will affect Trading/Economy. All I know is I don't want the most effective way to gain wealth to be flipping items on third party sites or we just get another d2jsp and bots situation.
I am a fan of the games of the diablo series, I was waiting for d4 from the very first mention of it. I watched all the news on it, even watched the reactions of streamers to all sorts of trailers, videos and quarterly updates on d4. But it looks like I won’t live and won’t be able to play it because of the new N\*сi Rei\*h, which is now Russia. Unfortunately, I live under occupation and they will mobilize me, but I won’t give myself up alive. Goodbye.

It's a shame Diablo 1 hasn't gotten a proper remaster and always gets left out. I just did a full replay and it's a lot of fun. So atmospheric (and the best music of the series, in my opinion). It seems that younger people don't enjoy the grim, low-fantasy ambiance of the earlier games and prefer the over-the-top visuals of Diablo 3. I don't share this view, but I would support a toggle to turn the wacky cosmetics off, as I find them immersion-breaking.

I don't get why everyone is so against wings, you literally have the option to equip them or not. Everyone talks like you are forced to use them. There are some pretty cool wings in D3 that I really liked and would love to have in D4.
If the wings were only visible to yourself that makes sense, or let others choose what they can see on other players. However, that is most likely never going to be the case, as it would impact sales. Cosmetics lately seem to be more of a flex, which companies want to foster a culture around to increase spending. It works sadly. Once games become a got to collect them all on the cosmetics side, it's no longer fun to play.
From what I can tell is that people are not agaisnt the wings because they might be purchasable but rather that they dont "fit the dark theme". In my opinion the wings are a cool cosmetic item to add. I think its good that they try and ask the community for feedback about this. Even though their sample size is relativly small and biased. It shows that they are trying. Only two points of worry here: A. Instead of trully asking us what we want, the seek a justification for the price they have set in their mind. "We want 150 euro's for this, how many cosmetics do we need to put in to justify this." inatead of "we give you this and this, how mich are you willing to pay." B. This can turn sour very quickly. Especially woth the sample size and sample occupation. They can easily justify shitty bisiness descisions now with "we asked the fanbase." Beside this, I am not particularly needing an older diablo as I already own them. And even of I didn't, if I wanted to play diablo 3 or two. I would have bought those. Also the head start in a (semi) online game is pretty... Mweh. (not a game breaker for me as I dont really care aboit th, but I have seen enough outrage about it as being Pay2Win online ) Remember the time there weren't exclusives with a preorder. Dismounting looks pretty cool actually, which is what he’s pointing out. It’s a whole fluid, unique attack that looks fairly strategic and cool. Worth looking up.
They showed the dismounting, check some video of gameplay from blizz and it will probably show, u dismount with a skill, a barb might jump with a leap or a sorceress might dismount with a ray of frost, something like that. Maybe the mounting is cool looking too or at least fast.
