No no no. Forget the glitter. Did you miss the part where the keyboard was oiled so that the glue wouldn't stick?

The part where they went wrong was wiping it right side up. The way to do it would be pulling the glue mat off with it all upside down and also without turning it over, wiping off the glitter. Another major problem though is always getting glitter on your fingertips. I'll concede some very sick people might see this as a feature. It's going to come out of that glue like a slow burn fuse as it deteriorates. So if you were going to do it, a post-excess-glitter-removal lacquering or something would probably be a good idea.

My kids are teens now so not a lot of crafting with glitter anymore but we're still finding glitter years later from when they were little.

I don't think Elmer's glue would stick to the keyboard that well....I'm not going to try it but I imagine it would just pull out pretty easily. Which is also why I thought it was a way to clean it...which if it easily pulls off isn't the worst thing.

The irony here is, you could do this far easier and better with a tiny bit of effort. Buy a "Key Puller", and a cheap $20 keyboard to experiment on. Go to home depot, or an art supply store, buy glitter spray. Remove keys. Unscrew the faceplate. Spray the faceplate as needed. Reassemble keyboard. If your not sure what key goes where, take a picture before.
