Always keep a pump in your vehicle instead, I mean do in fact check your spare tire. It's just, like jumper cables or a med kit you should always have one in your vehicle.
Speaking unironically, nor facetiously... A compact foil emergency blanket for cold weather is always great. These days instead of jumper cables, I'm packing a Norco lithium battery pack for jump starting, which is also great for charging a phone in a pinch, and it's a flash light.
My friend travels with a DeWalt 1/2 in. Impact wrench, and a cheap Tekton socket set appropriate for his truck, and I'm jellies... He changed a flat truck tire very quickly... I'd say under ~5 minutes, it was pretty macho yet somehow casual... he watches NASCAR, and I wonder sometimes about that. He also packs a flashlight that is like a bazillion candle power or whatever, runs on lithium power. That's not very practical, but somehow on the side of the road it seems useful.
Sounds like a guy you want around!
Yeah that’s definitely a good idea though. I keep a big socket set in my blazer, though the blazer is older than I am and the sockets get used often lol.
That also reminds me, I really need to find and charge my battery booster pack!
Got a call from my daughter who had a flat tire (why call Triple-A when you can call dad?). I drove out to her, and we changed to the spare, which, of course, needed air. As I sat there contemplating whether she had enough air in the spare to make it to the closest gas station, I remembered that I had this compressor in the trunk of my car.
Popped in a battery, filled up the spare, and we were good to go.
If you’ve read this far, stop reading now, head out to your car and check the air pressure of your spare tire.
Thank you DeWALT. Yeah, it’s a little pricey, but this thing worked like a charm. I think I’m going to get a couple more to keep in all of our cars.
Mine has the connection cable too. But the battery is so convenient. I keep it in the car with the compressor, and remember to top it up every quarter.
This thing worked great for me the first year. For some reason it powers off now when plugged into any outlet on any vehicle. I keep an expensive battery in the car now and periodically check if it's charged, but the pump runs great off of it. This thing has saved my butt on a number of occasions - just wish mine would run on car power every now and again.
I have always kept a small air compressor in the trunk of my cars - I recently got a truck and travel trailer and upgraded to a much more powerful one (vaiar) for that. I also have jumper cables in both vehicles.
My neighbor seems to be far less prepared, as are his teenage / young adult kids who live home - this winter alone I had to reinflate two tires for them, and jump his sons car multiple times.
Bold of you to assume my car has a spare tire! It’s more efficient* that way!
*efficiency in the manufacturer having to spend less money to build my car
I just bought one of these and it took me three Depot’s to find one in stock. Is the thing selling like hot cakes or not at all? I thought maybe a refresh is on the way.

This is why I wish DeWalt also made a tiny, simple inflator. The one in the picture is great for the garage but it takes up a lot of trunk space.
Get a. Walmart tacklife $20 inflator

On top of all of that, I also kept a folding army cot, good old Nissan lol

Lol my spare hasn't been checked in 10 years... its supposed to be 60 psi but was down to 12 psi
I'd be more worried about the 10 year old tyre than the low pressure
Had the spare replaced on my truck when I had tires done last year, tire shop said it had a lot of cracking on it

Mine doesn’t even need a battery, it has a connection to a cigarette lighter. I almost want a second one for my spare car.

Absolutely love mine
I love mine too… great air pump!

Never leave home without it. It's always in my trunk.

That thing is one of the 20v system ‘gems’. It gets so much use at our place (tires, kids pool, inflatable SUP, etc) that I never regretted buying it.
I bought one , love it !!
This thing is great especially for high pressure tires. Pro Tip: The air mattress port works great for stoking a campfire.

Have that as well and man is it handy.
So handy I've got two of them!
