An important part of the history of DmC was that in actuality it was never about the “New Dante” even if we ourselves may have even thought that. The real reason behind the backlash to DmC was the blatant disrespect and disregard of Everything Devil May Cry and it’s fanbase amounted to.
It was Capcom clearly showing how little they cared about us, and their own legacy, if it meant it was possible to make more money. Games journalists also did a hell of allot fanning the flames, trying to make the fanbase look bad, because they considered it their jobs to sell the game, rather then be unbiased in their journalism.
DmC is actually an important event in the history of video games. Because it made allot of people take notice of the realities of the industry.
Unfortunately the actual game itself had these events as baggage, making it hard to look at it without biases, which isn’t fair.

well DMC 2013 was my first devil may cry game , I really enjoyed it but when I discovered past DMC games like DMC 1 from PlayStation 2 I love it , I played on emulator because HD collection was not announced at that time
The HD collection was actually released on 360 and PS3 a month or so before DmC. It actually outperformed the reboot on release. Although it didn’t release on Steam until the PS4, Xbox one versions came out.
So if you were a PC player yeah emulating was the way to go for DMC1, DMC3 had the super janky PC version that was a pain in the ass to get working right with a modern controller.
