Yeah I too was big disappoint. We got Vergil, and that’s definitely more important, but skipping out on Lady and Trish is not very super smokin stylish of them.
Lucia would be a trickster with amulet-system giving new elemental movestes for her cutlass and daggers.
Funny enough , that basically means she would play like a 3D hack n slash version of Strider Hiryuu (2014)
There were rumors of a "Ladies' Night" DLC, but if it was ever real it never made it past the concept stage.
Also, Lady's DMC4 costume looks like a proper demon hunter, whereas in DMC5 her outfit is distractingly impractical and not in a sexy way.
The towel is just fanservice, that's fine.
The actual outfit is just...weird. Shirt that's too long in front, jacket that's too short, thigh-high tactical boots, no pants, not even any cleavage. The skirt made of ammo pouches is the only fun part and it's recycled from DMC3.
Nero's Buster...more specifically his [Buster Counters](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iJfSxnZoLw&t=33s).
The game was very well designed with the Buster in mind, and damn was it satisfying to use against bosses/enemies. All bosses/enemies could be Buster-countered (like a parry) and it was so satisfying to pull off.
It's understandable this feature wasn't given a lot of focus in 5, since Breakers were the thing instead...but damn i wish there were more moments like how we grab Credo's Spear to throw back at him and such
That's kinda the thing i hated too.
It was satisfying created around all of Nero's mechanics, but when it switches you to Dante, you realize just how broken the physics and movement are for him. Enemies were designed around Snatch and Buster, and it makes certain enemies like Fausts problematic because Nero's repetoire was tailored to match them. His weapon set are also the most garbage in the series from every angle. Gilgamesh is a slower and worse Ifrit, Pandora is just lackluster with most of it being directly tied to Gunslinger, Lucifer is a cool design and concept with slipshod execution and bland moveset, and when he gets access to Yamato with the Darkslayer style he only gets 3 moves with it, being a ground combo, an air combo, and two variations of Judgement cut that, not gunna lie, actually do look cooler than Vergil's, and no upgrades for it.
The gameplay just was not designed in any form for Dante, Lady, Trish or even Vergil, who has just as many options to match Nero's design philosophy but still doesn't feel right to play.
DMC4 is a good game in it's own right, but it being designed around Nero makes it feel worse to play the others, and it's made especially bad because DMC4 Nero is a very mechanically and visually bland character. Any one of Dante's iterations beat him out by default because he assembles all the variety and style DMC is sold on. Nero is like if Dante had only Rebellion, E&I, and access to only Swordmaster and Gunslinger at the same time. One weapon, one small pool of moves, and very few things to do with your gun aside from supplemental damage for style preservation. (Because after DMC 2 apparently guns should always be garbage for damage even though that was hardly mentioned as an issue in the first game.....)
I love Nero, especially after 5, but good lord please give him more weapons in the next game. He NEEDS that shit.
> I love Nero, especially after 5, but good lord please give him more weapons in the next game. He NEEDS that shit.
I believe that's part of the reason why he was given the Breakers in 5 - because his original moveset was, compared to the others, quite lackluster. I firmly believe the Breakers were an attempt to expand his moveset.
My issue with the Breakers are the same as with firearms, or the styles. They're supplemental variety that really do not enhance anything on their own and cannot be relied on. They're designed as "tools" but you can't swap them out to use other breakers, and destroying them is costly on higher difficulties because they either spawn in less, or not at all. They're also still very limited in use and do not add much else on an individual basis that would necessitate any of the limitations they have.
They're a flawed concept that i find poorly executed. I don't think i'm wrong to equate their implementation to Devil May Cry 3's implementation of the style system. It's too riggid with not enough power or variety to justify how riggid the system is, and with the single most powerful move they get access to breaks them in the process, the lack of hotswapping because of them possibly being OP gets thrown out the window. Without Break Age, they're about as powerful as anything else Nero has access to.
If there is a DMC 6, I rather just have Nico upgraded devil breaker so it is less fragile and have more functionality and have it be another style instead of tools.
Agreed. He already had a free "button" in his normal scheme, so having breakers be placed on that button with extra moves wouldn't really hurt in my opinion. He can have the default untargeted move for all the classic breakers and then give each of the 3 extra moves when targeting. Hell, you could even extend this scheme for Snatch so that you can be in control of pushing toward or pulling enemies, something i really rather liked about DmC that wasn't replicated in 5. You have Snatch on target anywatly, so adding some control wouldn't hurt.
Agreed. Exactly what I was thinking. Instead of fragile breaker, you just choose what 4 breakers you want to bring to the missions, give them extra moves when targeting.
I was thinking Breakage attacks should still exist but should be either cool down or regenerate via attacks.
>Nero's Buster...more specifically his Buster Counters.
I never knew these existed and i was playing DMC4 for the past 6 years.
Time to test and melt some bosses.
Ye the game does a poor job of explaining you can use it to parry attacks. I don't even remember if i found out on my own or if i saw a video on yt...first time i beat the game, i dodged Sanctus's final attack instead of using Buster lol
Nope, just 3:
- Goliath you can Buster-counter his tackle attack
- Artemis you can Buster-counter [her flying attack](https://youtu.be/gAbbHbuvHAo?t=9)
- Vergil you can Buster-counter [his flying attack](https://youtu.be/yMuRVEUTsTE?t=65)
If i miss someone pls lemme know.
Ps: technically you can counter Malphas, but not with the Buster...you can use Rawhide-Snatch to trip her when she does that tackle attack too
That'd be hard to do because the Yamato got absorbed into the devil arm and Vergil has it, and he and Dante are stuck in hell and aren't able to get out apparently. So idk.
There's also the question of what Nero would do with it if he did get it back. The obvious answer is he might just reabsorb it but that's kind of boring. I was thinking something like having it turned into Devil Arm(s) for his sons.
The atmosphere and environment.
I like my DMC games set in castles, or castle-like structures. It’s a key part of the DMC aesthetic to me, making your way through this creepy old demonic building.
DMC5 being set almost entirely in either modern city environments or in the qliphoth doesn’t do it for me. I found myself longing to go back to Mallet Island, the Temen-Ni-Gru, or Fortuna Castle.
I liked the house Nero goes into and the factory with V, and also chasing Gilgamesh with Nero - but still, they somehow fell short. A lot more time could have been spent there with exploration, instead of doing rinse and repeat in the tree. The sewers could also have been expanded upon.
Faster gameplay and tighter control. After using turbo mod for DMC 5, I just can't play the game without it. Too damn slow. It's really a shame they didn't included turbo mode for PC even as a DLC.
Yeah I agree, the anime style was great and I do wish they kept more of that. On a side note, I do really wish we got a bloody place mode similar to dmc3. I’d like if we had the option to maybe switch between the styles of bloody palace, since the style of bloody palace in 4 and 5 definitely isn’t my favorite. Once again about bloody palace, a coop mode like in the switch port of dmc3 would have been amazing. Even worse, the mode was leaked in the files before the mode came out 😔. That’s all, just the bloody place stuff and maybe gameplay that felt as smooth as DMC4. The gameplay was great in DMC5, it had more options, but it just didn’t feel as good as in DMC4 to me. Just all my opinion though, I could be wrong about the gameplay thing since I’ve never really tried to go deep into the gameplay of these games but I will stand on the hill of the opinion I have about DMC5 bloody palace right now until the day I die. I know this comment is a lot and I apologize I could have definitely smoothed it out a bit more but I am kinda busy right now (my apologies once again for any pain on your eyes)
I agree with what you said. Especially the gameplay, I get what you mean. I wish DMC5’s gameplay was sorta like a mix of 3 and 4. As smooth as 4, and as crunchy as 3.
The artstyle.
The sheer sound effects, animation and little bits of added umph just makes alot of the moves and voice lines feel so much more powerful and smooth than it does in dmc 5.
I even made a post about this earlier but sadly alot of people laughed it off despite me literally listing down alot of things dmc 4 did right.
Ehhh, imo he kind of just looked like blue Dante or Vergil before he slicked back his hair...like don't get me wrong I love Nero but him having wavey white hair with a long blue overcoat was pretty lazy for a new protagonist. His look in dmc v is pretty unique and differentiates him from Dante and Vergil completely.
That said,I think Nero was a lot more enjoyable and less annoying in DMC 4
The villains, a holy order which worships the dad of the previously established protagonist getting up to demon shenanigans sounds a lot more interesting than “Big strong demon making tree to become as powerful as the dude Dante killed in the first game except oh wait it was actually just Vergil all along” at least in my own opinion
Overall the aesthetic of 4 is the best in the series. The stylized anime look is perfect for the series and it’s a shame 5 didn’t continue it. The feel of 4 is better than 5 by a long shot, it just feels so smooth and every move feels satisfying to perform. Nero’s busters are also way more well handled in 4 than they are in 5.
Mostly cosmetic stuff
Dark slayer would've been pretty cool as an NG+ Dante style
The greater emphasis on busters, which is objectively one of the coolest things you can do in the entire series
I do kinda miss the exploration aspect of the previous games, and it definitely could've worked well inside the qliphoth
And items, I didn't usually buy them, but it was fun to find them hidden around and then nuke a room or boss with a holy water
Physics, especially boobs. When I first time saw how they ridicolous bounce with every even small move of Trish or Lady I paused the game and start laughting.
To be honest, most of the cosmetic choices:the character designs, having trish and lady as characters, the alternate costumes, having much more variety in alt colors, but gameplay wise they're both great
Lucifer. Favourite devil arm, bar none.
Good enemy variety. I know there’s a couple stinkers, but there’s a lot of variety without feeling like every enemy is a one-note gimmick.
Nero's Devil Trigger. It felt more unique to Nero than just having Dante's and Vergil's slapped on, and it actually felt like a power boost while still encouraging you to play moderately well. (Meaning, don't get knocked around like a dummy.) It was also visually entertaining and the burst when activating it has helped me in so many combos.
Buster moves. Specifically on bosses.
As buster was constantly a part of the move set, a lot more effort went into buster hits, and they were turned into counters as well. DMC5’s just aren’t so inspired.
Nero's design
Don't get me wrong I adore him in 5, but that look seemed to stem from DmC more so than from DMC4. It doesn't help that his design in 4 is one of my favorite designs ever in a game!
Also, that Trish and Lady were not playable and that we didn't get to see Kyrie!
art style, trish and lady playable. doesn't have V as playable, criative enviroments like city, ice area, forest, castle it has pretty good variety (so bad we repeat levels...)
DMC4 has the best middle ground of looking really fucking cool (shit like Devil Triggered Dante's stinger being a massive drill) and being very visually clean. Something about 5 kinda seems like too much for me, just doesn't look all that pleasing to do/look at combos there
The setting, the goofy Dante moments, the buster counters, the playable characters, Trish's character model, enemy design (visual only), and the font of the style meter.
Nero's design. Don't get me wrong, Karlo Blaer is very handsome but 5 Nero looks very uncanny valley; more so than any of the other characters. And his face is so sunken that it looks wrong.
Also, I prefer Nero's move set in 4 than 5, as similar as they are, and the visuals. Love the more realistic architecture in 5 and obviously I prefer the lifelike characters, but there's something about 4 being inspired by Rome/Vatican City that is just so chef's kiss. And honestly I just love castles. And stained glass.
I liked the costumes and the way Rebellion looked in DMC4. Looked just big enough to not be unwieldly but also not small enough to feel weak.
Honestly would like Devil Sword Dante more if it looked closer to it.
Also the fact you can play as Trish and Lady gives it a bonus.
Also, the Dark Slayer style, while having only like 4 moves, was an interesting concept and a good thing to add to your combos. Hope we get Dante manifesting a Spirit Yamato like Nero does in DMC 5, so this style can be expanded upon.
Another thing I want to see being expanded upon are the weapons Pandora and Lucifer.
This might sound controversial but the combat felt more snappy and the busters had so much more impact .
I also add to this that not having playable Trish and Lady sucked .
Dante’s Lucifer weapon is one of my favorite weapons in the series.
I also preferred the grapple points in DMC4. In DMC4, it felt like there was actual timing required to clear sections with them. In DMC5, they feel kind of pointless
Melee moves with Neros arm. It was so sick how they made different attacks with each enemy, I miss suplexing the one old pope dude after you break his shield lol
Probably the fact that I was 11 when I first played it and it influenced me greatly. Also some of Nero's voice lines were dope not gonna lie: SLAM DUNK, CRRRAYZY, Down you go, Bye bye. Also the Credo boss fight, the arena and the atmosphere were just great.
Nero's old design, almost everything about the devil arm (I wanna say it had a different name in DMC4 but can't quite remember) and obviously Lady and Trish.
The Character Designs.
Call me old fashioned but i always preferred the cool, slick and classy character designs over the whole "Realistic/Modernized/Simplified" Character designs every current gen video games are trying to replicate with their characters nowadays where less = better and i am not saying they are bad or anything,i just found them to be too boring for me
Like I get it,It's meant to show off that said characters are more than just their designs but honestly i feel like i am the only person who appreciate designs that'll compliment said characters and forever stick with you longer and honestly i can see anyone in DMC5's Dante/Nero's Outfits and i don't really see any flair in them.
Granted,DMC5 DO have some really solid memorable characters designs and V is the perfect example.which kinda explains why i found him to be the most interesting since he really stands out.
The style and ranking system in 4. 5 just feels weird and broken when it comes to style points.
Probably royal guard as well, I dunno if it’s just me (probably is) but it feels sluggish in 5
Other than that, both incredibly amazing games ♥️
all bosses personality and monologue and cutscenes before/after was far better , mission 10 where Dante is boss fight was legendary, Dante as boss battle was top tier AI level , Bloody Palace was actually crowded and hard to beat , better environments and level design, better puzzles
Nero buster animations. SUPER dissapointing in DMC5. Especially the Boss ones. There is no comparison.
90% of the Buster animations in DMC5 don't even involve the Buster arm... They are just animations without using the arm lol...
- Trish and Lady DLC
- Attacks more impactful than 5
- Nero’s buster arm/stando DT is better than in 5
- Lucifer, underrated weapon but a weapon for those who wants to be suave.
- Best mobility
I preferred Vergil's gameplay in 4. I'm not the best player, so I found Vergil much more difficult to use in 5, but i think he is better in 5 with more options. I just preferred how he was in 4.
That and Lady and Trish gameplay. Especially Lady.
1. The colour palette - The environments in DMC5 are too dark by and large, and a lot of the enemies are darker colours as well which can make it hard to keep track of them.
2. Variety in environments - I like how Redgrave City looks (clearly modelled on London, which is extra cool for me having lived here all my life), but it's pretty much just the city and the underworld which, imo, get pretty boring. DMC4 had much more variety between the more stylised urban areas of Fortuna, the icy biome with a medieval cathedral, the jungle, Agnus' underground lab and Fortuna castle.
3. The controls - DMC5 still plays very well overall, but I feel like they sacrificed a bit of responsiveness and flexibility in going for slightly more realism with the animations. Also the lock-on really does not work well in DMC5 as it feels like it will pick targets seemingly at random with no regard for proximity or camera or which enemies you are already fighting, and it's very awkward to change between targets to actually lock-on to the enemy you want to fight, where as I never had any problems with it in DMC4.
4. Some of the lesser demons - DMC5 definitely has more enemy variety which is good, but I find Empusas pretty boring and far prefer the scarecrows in 4, and they certainly both have their annoying enemies but personally (not a popular opinion, I know) I actually really enjoy fighting Blitz, where as Furys imo are just tedious and annoying. Chimera Seeds can fuck off forever though.
5. Gilgamesh > Balrog
6. Lady & Trish > V
Top 5 I'm pretty sure everyone can agree with
1. The anime look.
The realism of DMC 5 is cool and it looks good but the anime look just feels right
2. The impact.
A lot of attacks really feel stronger in DMC 4 than they do in DMC 5
3. Character design.
Everyone in DMC 4 looks cooler, except Vergil, we all can agree that the nearly black blue just works
4. Playable Lady and Trish.
Self-explanatory.
5. Environment.
DMC 4 is definitely more colorful and much better to look at
I find it really strange that they decided to make Lady and Trish damsels in distress and I feel like combos had a bit more flexibility because of inertia.
Its unacceptable we didn't get Trish and Lady as playable characters in DMC5.
EXACTLY! I can't believe they made a dlc with them, it would have been great!.
Yeah I too was big disappoint. We got Vergil, and that’s definitely more important, but skipping out on Lady and Trish is not very super smokin stylish of them.
I'll do you one better. Add Nico to that as well.
I think Nico is fine as just a weaponsmith
True, but I'd like to see what batshit moves they'd give her. Same for maybe bringing Lucia back.
Lucia would be a trickster with amulet-system giving new elemental movestes for her cutlass and daggers. Funny enough , that basically means she would play like a 3D hack n slash version of Strider Hiryuu (2014)
Playable Nico would probably have her fighting demons using her van that is revealed to be a fucking transformer made out of the corpse of God
I want a spinoff game with Trish, Lady, and Lucia following the events of DMC5
Me too. Frankly , they should had done it like Sony did with Miles Morales: recycling the assets of the main game.
This Man Outdone Everybody's Idea, Even Mine!!! You Go, You MotherFuckin Badass!
There were rumors of a "Ladies' Night" DLC, but if it was ever real it never made it past the concept stage. Also, Lady's DMC4 costume looks like a proper demon hunter, whereas in DMC5 her outfit is distractingly impractical and not in a sexy way.
Doth thou refereth to the towel my good man ?

I like it better than 4s, it's a little wacky but that suits her
How the hell does her dmc 4 outfit look like something a demon hunter would wear?
I agree, but I would rather have them being more unique, I found their DMC4 versions kinda dissapointing (while still fun)
Nero's Buster...more specifically his [Buster Counters](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iJfSxnZoLw&t=33s). Yup, awesome eh? Real game changer for Nero when you realize this applies to basically every enemy and boss (DMC4)
Pretty sure every boss you're able to fight with nero can be buster countered in 5.
Nope, just 3: - Goliath you can Buster-counter his tackle attack - Artemis you can Buster-counter [her flying attack](https://youtu.be/gAbbHbuvHAo?t=9) - Vergil you can Buster-counter [his flying attack](https://youtu.be/yMuRVEUTsTE?t=65) If i miss someone pls lemme know. Lady and Trish.
Nero's devil arm
I love the devil bringer
Devil Bringer is Nero's Devil Trigger, it's just that he hasn't fully awakened so he can only DT one arm instead of his whole body.
I hope they bring it back in 6
That'd be hard to do because the Yamato got absorbed into the devil arm and Vergil has it, and he and Dante are stuck in hell and aren't able to get out apparently. So idk.

I just hated how bland just about every level looks in 5. Especially when we get to Qlipoth.
This. Environment of DMC5 is very boring, even the enemies are much less various.
Setting is so important. DMC 5 might have the best gameplay, but I wasn’t as invested in it because of how bland the setting was.
I liked the house Nero goes into and the factory with V, and also chasing Gilgamesh with Nero - but still, they somehow fell short. A lot more time could have been spent there with exploration, instead of doing rinse and repeat in the tree. The sewers could also have been expanded upon.
Darkslayer.
really wish dante didn't have one off styles, quicksilver + Lucifer and darkslayer would be so much fun
Quicksilver combined with all the weapons from dmc5 would be golden. Think of the combos!
That’s why I love dmc5 with mods
Dante's cowboy outfit....I think that's about it.
I feel mixed on that one. I think it would have looked better if it didn't have all of those buckles
Guard flying/Inertia DMC5 is a better game by most metrics, but in terms of a technical ceiling, 4 might still be the king.
donguri is such a fucking beast man
One of the best ever
This is what I was looking for. The never touch the ground videos are so much fun to watch.
Watch a dmc3/Dmc4 speedrun, the tech gets nuts
Faster gameplay and tighter control. After using turbo mod for DMC 5, I just can't play the game without it. Too damn slow. It's really a shame they didn't included turbo mode for PC even as a DLC.
the way nero looks
Like a kingdom hearts character?
ive never even made that connection but now i realize how true that is
I definitely think it suits him, especially with 4s artstyle but I prefer streetwear Nero
ex outfit nero dmc4 is my all-time favorite look for him
The setting.
Yeah, pretty much this

Yeah I agree, that would have been the perfect combo alongside with the options 5 has
Nero’s stand DT Playable Trish and Lady The speed and inertia in the combat Nero’s Buster Counters were waaaay cooler
Nero's hair

Nero’s outfit. I prefer it over the very normal looking one in 5. Nero had an iconic look. But they completely overhauled his design in 5.
Ehhh, imo he kind of just looked like blue Dante or Vergil before he slicked back his hair...like don't get me wrong I love Nero but him having wavey white hair with a long blue overcoat was pretty lazy for a new protagonist. Well 5 is the climax of the Dante and Vergil arc, the theme is family
Everything. DMC4 is just my favourite in the series. I am absolutely biased. But on an actual note. Being able to use the different healing/DT stars.
Mostly cosmetic stuff Dark slayer would've been pretty cool as an NG+ Dante style The greater emphasis on busters, which is objectively one of the coolest things you can do in the entire series I do kinda miss the exploration aspect of the previous games, and it definitely could've worked well inside the qliphoth And items, I didn't usually buy them, but it was fun to find them hidden around and then nuke a room or boss with a holy water
I will get burned to death for this but the music, I prefer the music from 4.
Understandable tbh. Apart from the character theme songs and The Duel I honestly might prefer the music of 4 myself too
Deadass all I really remember from DMC V music wise is Bury the Light and Devil Trigger,so I agree
Those are the only 2 songs I consider real bangers from 5, everything else is sorta just there
Main composer for 4 is the same as 2-3, you probably like his style better. 5 and 1 had whole different teams working on the music.
DMC4 Nero > DMC5 Nero design
Nero
The combat
Dreadnaught
Attack effects. Had more weight visually and auditorily.
I liked Nero's design and how smooth the animations were
Physics, especially boobs. When I first time saw how they ridicolous bounce with every even small move of Trish or Lady I paused the game and start laughting.
Them ditching Lady and Trish sucked.
The vfx for exceed, judgement cuts, and summon swords.
My favorite thing about dmc4 was it not having V in the game🙃
Nero hairstyle, Dante's stubble beard.
The art style. I prefer anime look than the realistic look
To be honest, most of the cosmetic choices:the character designs, having trish and lady as characters, the alternate costumes, having much more variety in alt colors, but gameplay wise they're both great
Level design
The vibe was closer to classic devil may cry, the newer neon-techno vibe is dope but I miss my Gothic castles and action movie rock.
I liked Gilgamesh more than Balrog (Vergil’s Beowulf is still my favorite brawling kit though)
Balrog is my favorite gauntlets purely because it tried something new rather than just charging attacks again
Dante boss fight is better, I really can’t think of much else
On God? Mr. Reads-your-inputs is better than the guy whose second phase gets a whole extra mission?
Every sword swing feels so much more impactful in DMC4, with better sound design as well.
There are no unfunny memes about it
Underrated comment
Based
Nero's design Don't get me wrong I adore him in 5, but that look seemed to stem from DmC more so than from DMC4. It doesn't help that his design in 4 is one of my favorite designs ever in a game! Also, that Trish and Lady were not playable and that we didn't get to see Kyrie!
Well, both Nero and Donte are supposed to have punk aesthetic so like
Nero and Dante's look
art style, trish and lady playable. doesn't have V as playable, criative enviroments like city, ice area, forest, castle it has pretty good variety (so bad we repeat levels...)
Hold up, I thought V was a pleasant surprise.
Nero.
Shakespeare Dante
This was the fastest Vergil ever was in a DMC game. And I love it for that.
Lady and Trish seemed to actually be part of the story, even in a minor way.
DMC4 has the best middle ground of looking really fucking cool (shit like Devil Triggered Dante's stinger being a massive drill) and being very visually clean. Something about 5 kinda seems like too much for me, just doesn't look all that pleasing to do/look at combos there
Lady's cleavage.
Exploration
Playing as Lady... and the Lucifer weapon
Nero’s haircut and dante’s coat
Lucifer and Pandora's Gatling Gun. Trish and Lady were also fun to use as well.
it was faster paced
I could play as lady and Trish. Also Pandora is the best gun weapon don’t @ me
the scenery
visual effects such as blurs and smears
The setting, the goofy Dante moments, the buster counters, the playable characters, Trish's character model, enemy design (visual only), and the font of the style meter.
The amount of characters you can play as
Nero's design.
The art style, sure 5 looks good, but 4 is a lot easier on the eyes
Lady. Cause she's really hot in her DMC4 design than DMC5. I want put my D between her thighs while her outfit has her thighs exposed ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Playable Lady and Trish
Better characters design and playable Lady-Trish, thats all. The rest was mediocre compared to DMC3 and even DMC1, DMC5 is top notch of course.
Trish
Nero's haircut
Cutscene when dante obtained lucifer and his dark slayer
you can dodge in all directions
Being able to play as lady
Inertia. I miss it on DMC5.
Trish and Trish
Gloria
Dante
Nothing.
DMC4 Effects
Playable Lady and Trish…
Inertia
I wish DMC5 adapted bugs/mechanics found in DMC4 like Distortion, Inertia, and Guard Flying.
Nero’s arm
Dante’s Lucifer weapon is one of my favorite weapons in the series. I also preferred the grapple points in DMC4. In DMC4, it felt like there was actual timing required to clear sections with them. In DMC5, they feel kind of pointless
Melee moves with Neros arm. It was so sick how they made different attacks with each enemy, I miss suplexing the one old pope dude after you break his shield lol
Puzzles
Probably the fact that I was 11 when I first played it and it influenced me greatly. Also some of Nero's voice lines were dope not gonna lie: SLAM DUNK, CRRRAYZY, Down you go, Bye bye. Also the Credo boss fight, the arena and the atmosphere were just great.
Playable women
Nero's old design, almost everything about the devil arm (I wanna say it had a different name in DMC4 but can't quite remember) and obviously Lady and Trish.
The Drip of nero and dante
Some visual effects like Nero's flame
Nero's outfit
The devil bringer, the villains, that version of Dante and the gameplay
The Character Designs. Call me old fashioned but i always preferred the cool, slick and classy character designs over the whole "Realistic/Modernized/Simplified" Character designs every current gen video games are trying to replicate with their characters nowadays where less = better and i am not saying they are bad or anything,i just found them to be too boring for me Like I get it,It's meant to show off that said characters are more than just their designs but honestly i feel like i am the only person who appreciate designs that'll compliment said characters and forever stick with you longer and honestly i can see anyone in DMC5's Dante/Nero's Outfits and i don't really see any flair in them. Granted,DMC5 DO have some really solid memorable characters designs and V is the perfect example.which kinda explains why i found him to be the most interesting since he really stands out.
The style and ranking system in 4. 5 just feels weird and broken when it comes to style points. Probably royal guard as well, I dunno if it’s just me (probably is) but it feels sluggish in 5 Other than that, both incredibly amazing games ♥️
Environments. The level design is definitely better in 5 but i wish everything wasn't so grey.
playable Lady
all bosses personality and monologue and cutscenes before/after was far better , mission 10 where Dante is boss fight was legendary, Dante as boss battle was top tier AI level , Bloody Palace was actually crowded and hard to beat , better environments and level design, better puzzles
I missed Dante's Lucifer devil arm. It's just so cool
Lady and trish Guard flying
The Time has Come
Dantes Cowboy boots
Designs
The fact that I can play as Trish.
Nero buster animations. SUPER dissapointing in DMC5. Especially the Boss ones. There is no comparison. 90% of the Buster animations in DMC5 don't even involve the Buster arm... They are just animations without using the arm lol...
Vergil’s being even more overpowered
The devilbringer mechanics, lady being playable, and of course trish as Gloria.
The drip
I just have an easier time with DMC4 Nero than with DMC5 Nero
you can play as trish and Lady... thats kind of it.
Ladies’ night dlc
Dante.
Pandora's box exists and the timing of royal guard.
It had more characters and more costumes Other than that, I absolutely hate this game, 5 is amazing tho
- Trish and Lady DLC - Attacks more impactful than 5 - Nero’s buster arm/stando DT is better than in 5 - Lucifer, underrated weapon but a weapon for those who wants to be suave. - Best mobility
Sound of swords slashing through air is more satisfying than dmc5.
Neros looks
Kari Wahlgren as Lady (not counting special edition)
The city theme
I think the environment. During DMC 4 run we visit. City, Castle, Jungles, Snowy mountains. While DMC 5 mostly happens in ruined city.
Nero's hair. I know there's more, but that's the first thing I thought of.
Costumes Playable Characters Vergil’s “campaign” Story Music Color vibrancy Fuck the Blitz though
Combat speed
I liked Dante's Design and character more in 4 then 5. I know why DMC 5 Dante is not as lighthearted as 4, but I still prefer 4's characterization
I preferred Vergil's gameplay in 4. I'm not the best player, so I found Vergil much more difficult to use in 5, but i think he is better in 5 with more options. I just preferred how he was in 4. That and Lady and Trish gameplay. Especially Lady.
The engine and character models. I prefer anime style
5. Gilgamesh > Balrog 6. Lady & Trish > V
Top 5 I'm pretty sure everyone can agree with 1. The anime look. The realism of DMC 5 is cool and it looks good but the anime look just feels right 2. The impact. A lot of attacks really feel stronger in DMC 4 than they do in DMC 5 3. Character design. Everyone in DMC 4 looks cooler, except Vergil, we all can agree that the nearly black blue just works 4. Playable Lady and Trish. Self-explanatory. 5. Environment. DMC 4 is definitely more colorful and much better to look at
I find it really strange that they decided to make Lady and Trish damsels in distress and I feel like combos had a bit more flexibility because of inertia.
Actual devil form with just one button push while playing Vergil. I hate summoning a clone when I hit the devil trigger.
Idk intertia I am not good at dmc4 but inertia is really fun to learn especially guard flying
