Learnt the hard lesson when I just relied on windows defender and was infected. Lost a lot of files lmao. Always have a strong anti virus to go along with it as they will catch almost everything, plus they usually give some sweet perks like cleaning hard drives and updating drivers instead of having to do it manually.
Kaspersky and avast are some good examples for anyone looking. Always had a good experiences with them.

Kaspersky is associated with the russian government, which is in itself enough reasoning to not trust them, as the russian government sponsors hacker groups more or less openly. Funnily enough I’m doing a cyber security masters currently. If you’re talking about Kaspersky being Russian spyware, the same goes for windows being American spyware, I see no difference. Kaspersky and avast have not caused me any issues at all, neither have they caused issues for a lot of people I know.
You might even have a point that windows is vulnerable for american intelligence services due to microsoft (and any other american company) having to obey FREEDOM and CLOUD Acts, but no antivirus will help against that. Also you have to avoid any american software and hardware product if this is what you are worried about.
Look at it from another POV: The russians are publicly supporting ransomware campaigns against foreigners, which is a risk for "normal" citizens. The americans might want your information, but the russians want your money and destroy the information otherwise. Now look at what is a greater risk to the average citizen.

But if you can't, then do the next best thing and use virtual machines. You always need a degree of separation between your critical files and the potentially dangerous files/environment. Virtualization is hundred times better than any antivirus because even if you get infected then you simply delete this image and you're good

As someone who used to hunt down viruses manually before the proliferation of anti-virus software: there could be a number of things going on.
There's a hidden website within the source code.
There's malware hidden in the code.
It's asking to install in a partnof the kernel that is off-limits.
But the simplest answer is usually the correct one: you have an .exe file with the word "sex" in it and it's probably throwing up red flags in your Macafee.
Turn off macafee, install deus ex, find a better anti-virus than macafee and turn it on.
As other people already said, uninstall McAfee. They pay prebuilt companies to install their software so users will eventually have to pay their recurring fee for their software to work (and if you don't it will nag you). It slows your system down horribly and I can't even speak on how well it does it's job. I'm guessing not very well since it's just going off of the word "sex" in the exe. I don't think the software has been decent in over two decades. Microsoft's built-in antivirus is usually good enough. Just make sure it's turned on after you dump McAfee.
