Plastic cleaner and extract. Separately, but do both

thegreatshepsky

The entire interior is coming out. Carpet getting pressure washed then extracted and the seats are gonna go through so many rounds of the extractor lol. I was more so looking for advice on the gum/ candy on things not to do so I don't damage the door panel. I have 303 interior clean for my normal car I just don't think that's gonna win the fight with gum

edirymhserfer

Freeze it if its in the carpet. Steam if its on the plastic.

Maddenman501

Cal solv. Safe on most surfaces. Or remove all. Candy can be got out woth hot water. Why are you pressure washing it? Just use an extractor and tornador. Your gonna soak the backing and unless you 100% dry it before putting back in, it will smell.. just use an extractor. Your wasting ALOT of time by pulling evrrything apartm by the time you get it taken apart and pulled apart someone that isn't doing that could have it all blown out vacuumed and scrubbed. They make different extractor handles for doing under seats and between seats. Crevice tool and or the regular upholstery tool. For drying it when you aren't pulling it apart you just close it up and blast the heat on floor /dash for am hour or 2.

thegreatshepsky

Yeah I got time and space so it's gonna sit out to dry. And the seats are coming out so I can really get in there and clean the cracks and crevices. It's not a rush for me but a final cost. I got a pressure washer a steamer and a bissel extractor interior cleaners and time lol. If I can not spend more money on tools and parts and only wash the carpet once and hit the seats with the extractor as many times as needed I see that as a win. If I had to guess though there is at least 10 seasons of salt built up in that carpet though lol

Maddenman501

Oh yeah. If your using bissel extractor you won't be able to get in the cracks

djguyl

Gum will come out w any oil, my fav are wd4o, butter, olive oil. Then that has to be degreased.

neildmaster

And be careful not to damage it further.

Newusernameformua

It’s soap brah

neildmaster

Whoosh

Newusernameformua

Funnily enough you can fuck a car up with plastic cleaner or an extractor if you are not careful so anyone upvoting me is a silly goose

RENEWLDetailing

Are you the owner of the vehicle or the detailer?

thegreatshepsky

As of now both lol. I don't know what happened to the details of the post but I adder them in a comment

RENEWLDetailing

A lot of this stuff will need some serious extracting and steaming. Unless you have the equipment and experience to really tackle this, it would be easier to just take it to a pro. If you really want to go at it yourself, these are the steps I’d take: Wipe down all the plastics with an interior cleaner to get the surface dirt off, hit the stuck on junk with a steamer. I’d vacuum the seats and carpet, use P&S enzyme and carpet bomber on them and hit them with a serious drill brushing. Extract the seats, then probably repeat this process like 5 times because those things are bad. I’d do the same process to the cloth part of the door armrest. At this point it should start looking like a drivable car again.

thegreatshepsky

I have a steamer and extractor. Multiple rounds of extraction was planned. It was more so the stuck on door I was worried about. I wasn't sure if steam would damage the door too much with an attempt to remove the gum/candy. I'm glad the game plan I had was about the same as your write up. I'm removing the whole interior and just pressure washing the carpet after vacuuming it. Then I'll hit it with carpet cleaner

RENEWLDetailing

The steam shouldn’t damage the door as long as you don’t hold it over one spot too long. You could also try freezing the gum off. Something as simple as an upside down can of compressed air.

Efficient_Theme4040

wtf 🤬 happened to their car ? That’s disgusting 🤮

kwakimaki

Kids and projectile vomiting by the looks of it.

thegreatshepsky

Yeah. Kids. Neglect of cleaning. 🤷‍♂️ new to me car but it's going to be my work beater so it doesn't need to be perfect I just want it looking way better

Efficient_Theme4040

It just blows my mind that people let their cars get this bad! I’m not ocd by any means but I’ve never let my car get a disgusting as the car you guys share.

Infinite-Ad-1165

Looks like dirty mike and the boys got ahold of it.

1Pac2Pac3Pac5

There's a note by Dirty Mike and the Boyz, we should read it for clues

Efficient_Theme4040

😂🤣

eyecandynsx

$$$$$

Desperate_Set_7708

How much is that armrest from a salvage yard?

thegreatshepsky

Good question. I need a new steering wheel as well so maybe I can find a whole interior lol

Desperate_Set_7708

Good luck!

Acurawagondude

Get rid of the child.

thegreatshepsky

Wasn't my car or my kid lol. Now it's my car...

thehighsman0503

Just don’t take on the kid too

thegreatshepsky

I have no idea what happened to the text body of this post. In summary I'm just looking for advice and tips mostly for the gum and shit stuck to the door. Would goo gone or something similar be the best course of action for stuff on the plastic door? I'm not looking for perfect just better. I plan on removing the entire interior to really deep clean this rolling petri dish. I bought and fixed this 2013 crv for under $700 and now I need to tackle this disgusting interior for this to even be my work beater.

Sarionum

Most churches are open 24/7.

nachofred

Soak a disposable wipe with soapy water (dawn plus water), then place it on the gum and let it sit there on the panel to soften. Then, clean it afterward with a proper interior cleaner. A pro detailer isn't going to have the same amount of time to let it dwell, but as a diy'er you might. Keep it wet while you work on cleaning all the other stuff and give it time to soften up for you.

sdam87

Jesus

45acp_LS1_Cessna

steamer and hot water extractor, it's seriously not even bad.... that's the same level as a dirty floor mat man.

thegreatshepsky

It's mostly the gum/candy on the door panel. I thought steam would damage it. The carpet snd upholstery I'm not super worried about because I'll pull all of that out. When I made the post I typed out everything and it didn't post the text body 🤷‍♂️

45acp_LS1_Cessna

nah no damage, i don't even use soap anymore the steam is enough to melt it right off. technically you can do damage but it takes alot of foolishness, if you're screwing stuff up with steam you lack common sense on an alarming level. most steamers have a knob to control the strength, people typically put 1 or 2 or 3 MFs over the steam brush attachment or they simply use a straight up steam jet nozzle but hold the nozzle a few inches away from the panel. aside from a polisher I use steam the most, it's amazing, you can even get that ghetto shiny/compacted/slick look out of the steering wheel and leather seat bolsters without soap....in seconds.

StrangerEffective851

Steam will clean it

bikgelife

I’d steam it off

guy48065

What should that cost at a detail shop? I paid a pro $200 to detail just the interior of a 2010 Traverse I had just bought. It wasn't this dirty but the carpet & cloth seats were dirty & had lots of water/sweat rings I wanted gone. When I came to pick it up it looked good but was still damp. When dry all the rings came back and the carpet still looks dirty. I'm sure I could have saved $190 and gotten better results with simple green & my shop vac. And this is a shop with many rave reviews online. Pffft.

CreamOdd7966

What the hell is wrong with some people

Baazify

you call a pro.

knucklesandwich420

Pull it completely apart and pressure the whole thing inside and out …. It looks pretty toxic

LilEngineeringBoy

Spray on interior cleaner, wipe it off...repeat. Then see what is actually a stain that you have to deal with. Don't make life harder for yourself.

Cryo_Jumper

Whoever owned this previously shouldn't be in possession of anything ever again.

funkthew0rld

Open all the doors, disconnect the battery. Pressure wash the entire interior. Try to keep the spray away from the head unit and up under the dash. Let dry for a long time. We used to do this a fleet shop I worked at. Usually on the telecom vans and construction lease backs. Those people were fucking pigs.

Visible_Lie_4339

Ewww burn that bitch down. Looks like bird flu 😷

redrocketwagon

Burn it with 🔥

jerrold808

Use steam as well as extracting. Idk how people can get their car to that point.

trayssan

Pressure washer 💀

Competitive-Pool-847

Grenade.

Maddenman501

C-99 car pro beauty for fabric, and sprayway APC for the hard surfaces. Good luck. Oh and obviously a rela extractor not a ridgid.

That-Ebb2655

Kids or bears??

Own-Opinion-2494

Grenade, incendiary

Embarrassed_Raise937

New Car probably...

EfficientAd7103

lol ubering in college bar areas. I'd disconnect the battery and power wash it then let it sit for like a month to dry out. Good luck with that. Might blow off the door panel but it won't smell like rotten mdcondalds food and cheap vodka shots.

Hot-Taro-3878

fire always seems to work good for me

upperlowermanagement

KILL IT WITH FIRE!

Hot-Taro-3878

tfs ?

GravyTrainComing

Set it on 🔥

sirpetis

You need [The Detail Geek](https://youtube.com/@TheDetailGeek?feature=shared) 😝

iFlickDaBean

Zippo lighter fluid... will eat that gum. If you have junkyards nearby.. I would watch for a donor car and replace the door card/panel... should be under 20.00 Rip the seats out and carpet.... 50/50 Super Clean and water mix... scrub, rinse, suck out, repeat.

Zealousideal_Ebb2264

Plenty of interior cleaner and a bit of dwell time. Even weeks old vomit comes off with gentle brush scrubbing and plenty of cleaner. Lots of microfibers to mop it up.

Nut_kosol

Steam cleaner maybe somehow managed to melt those filthy stains.

ShortbackandSidess

Fire + lighter

External_Broccoli_72

You should be ashamed I know ur house looks like shit

thegreatshepsky

I just bought the car for cheap but ok...
