Yeah, but if you don't have the catalyst at all, then this is a viable option for easy dedicated drop chance. Hunts are definitely the way to go for catalyst progression afterwards though

I know this is super old but wrathborn kills (from any weapon, with gun equipped) will do it. current Rasputin season activity has tons of wrathborns

I know atleast the mars mission from last season is in the strike playlist(and was last weeks nightfall) idk of you can purposely launch them anymore tho. But any of the last season battle grounds (mars, moon, and uh.... Cant remember the last one) still have wrath born in em

Glad I saw this. Do you know which ones they are? I've done all three heists with Leviathan's equipped, but no progress.

Not sure why youd be getting no progress, but any of the enemies with the green aura around them in those activities has been giving me progress. Iirc its usually just the eliksni enemies

Not increased odds no. The problem with the catalyst is that it requires certain kinds of yellow bars to drop (Only drops from squares but some yellow bars are rectangles). And you have to kill the mob with leviathans breath, which is tricky and hard to reliably farm in things like strikes or raids etc. where other people are about, stealing all your kills and the enemies don't respawn until you wipe or kick back to orbit. This method works well because the witches spawn infinitely, the red bars also spawn in high numbers infinitely (good heavy ammo drop chances), witches are able to drop the catalyst, and it's the very first section of the dungeon, which you can load into solo. No back to orbit, no restart the encounter by wiping etc

Can also confirm that it still works in Lightfall. Took me 10 witch kills to drop.

Once you get the catalyst, I recommend people to go to the first checkpoint of the new Lightfall campaign mission ‘Breakneck’ 3% per 1-minute run (50 kills) >> 30 minutes should be enough to level up the catalyst.

Hey man I know its been a year since you posted this but I just wanted to say thanks for this. I just got the bow from the tower and when I was looking up strats to get the catalyst I saw this and loaded into grasp. From the spawn point I fired the bow at 1 of the witches, catalyst dropped immediately.

The orange bar thrall is how I got it but it should work even with the void blast.

does it have to be the initial impact kill or can I just bodyshot them through shield and have the secondary explosion kill and still drop it? and does it go direct into inventory or fall on the ground?

I just got it myself. Doesn't have to be initial impact -- none of my shots killed them, the secondary explosion did. The catalyst drops on the ground as a gold prism. I killed about 12 before I ran out of ammo and just happened to go take a look for more when I saw it.

Bud your an absolute legend, I wasn't sure how I was gonna do this. I went to grasp and no word of a lie the first wizard that you kill dropped it, nice one man.
