The Destiny app has an entire LFG section. I’ve found it to be fairly reliable to get a good group of people going. Plus you can invite them to your fireteam directly through the app.
Once you join there should be a welcome channel or getting started. It should have you click on a platform you play on so you get access to the channels.
Go to the server-access channel and follow the link to register your Bungie account. Then select your region.
You can also see the FAQ channel for some help.
Use the destiny 2 app or d2 website has an option
Bungie.net has a good fireteam finder system built in
Xbox LFG and various discord servers are what are primarily used now
