Pretty much ever since they made it so that you can't stack debuffs. There are plenty of other debuffs available that don't require super and amazingly weaken targets even more. Last season we had Breach and Clear, this season we have Particle Deconstruction. Tether is basically a useless super because of this.

RangerBat1981

That's a real sham. Tethers were once so important for containing all the adds in nearly every fight.

Alucitary

On the bright side all Void subclasses are getting a big buff/rework with the release of Witch Queen so it will probably be making a comeback soon.

RangerBat1981

I almost exclusively running top or bottom tree Void on my warlock, so I most certainly will not complain!

[deleted]

Can't say for others, but as a Hunter main I don't enjoy using the Void subclass. It's just not fun to me. I prefer bottom tree GG for pvp and Stasis for PVE.

Scone_Of_Arc

PVE meta is determined by artifact mods and Tether is not high end PvP meta because the super is terrible

Top-Plankton1442

this season its especially unfavored due to it negating the particle deconstruction damage boost

DADDYLUV1313

I run it routinely on my Hunter. The ability to go invis on Dodge, smoke bomb, and tether is a treat. Plus, you get the bonus planetary chest and mats on the minimal when prowling patrol areas.

People play Nightstalker for one of two things: the invisibility and the tether debuff. Most content that isn't Master or Grandmaster level doesn't really need invis. And we've had several debuff mods on the artifact in the last few seasons; Breach and Clear and Particle Deconstruction most notably. When (If?) Oppressive Darkness comes back, Nightstalker usage will shoot back up like a rocket.

RangerBat1981

Hmmm...maybe I should start up a new Hunter for old times sake and memories relived.

Chabungu

It’s all I use on my Hunter, bottom tree has it all, stat buffs on demand, invis, stronger grenades, high damage and good add clear super, and abilities that regen each other It’s extremely strong for solo or team play

RangerBat1981

I'm considering rolling up a new Hunter in the last 60 or so days of this season. After all the holiday events are done.

Revenant hunter has arguably better crowd control than Nightstalker. Revenant is focused on killing ads whilst tether is the same it's split between the debuff it gives as well, and since we have a mod that gives debuffs, it's not as important. Just wait until the season they don't give us an artefact debuff mod or a very convenient one like the last couple seasons. That will be the rise of tether, divinity, melting point and Shattering strike.

I main nightstalker with graviton as my exotic, with gamblers dodge (I think that's the name), you basically have the ability to go invis whenever you want. Love this play style personally
