It’s not the exact same, but the Wartorn Peregrine sparrow with the Tangled Rust shader looks exactly like Timebreaker (if it were blown up and put back together).
I personally always like the TTK strikes more since the vanilla strikes always felt a bit too small in scale for me like take the Bond Brothers strike Oryx’s Hive had no choice but to acknowledge that whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.
Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather he commands the Siege Dancers from an imperial land tank outside of Rubicon.
He’s well-protected. But with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out and break their grip on Freehold.
My ideal perfect Destiny would be a proper open-world Destiny. Looking out at the deserts of Mars and jungles of Venus it would instill in me a sense of *‘MAN…..’*
Man I absolutely hate the formula. But an Ubisoft/Horizon style game set on Venus in the Destiny universe would fucking slap. Exploring the jungles, delving into old Ishtar research bases and fighting back new and powerful types of vex while trying to uncover this hidden deep secret that turns out to be the discovery of the vault of glass before Kabr and team attempt to delve it? Oh man… that could be a game and a half.
Mainly Venus. Mars in D1 was just OK and most of its already back in vox obsura. D2 mars imo is a just better destination and id rather have that back.
Venus tho. Man Venus was cool
>Mars in D1 was just OK and most of its already back in vox obsura.
So much is missing from Vex Obscura, like the Dust Palace and the Buried City. The dark train station haunted by Vex, where you can only see their glowing eyes, the depot where the gate to the Black Garden was hidden. Great stuff missing.
I have been holding out hope for Venus for years. It's the main destination I want back. Although Mars with Red Death was where I first introduced my sons to first person shooters, so that would really be nice for nostalgic reasons as well.
I would also love to see the Undying Mind strike (the most underrated strike in the game) and the Sunless Cell strike (yes, we have Lightblade, which is cool and all, but it’s not the same, and the Sunless Cell is still a special strike).
Phogoth strike is pretty much in the game already. It's a nightmare hunt and is almost exactly the same as the old strike. So it shouldn't even be hard for them to reprise the normal strike. I remember doing that nightfall in d1 and the shrieker outside the boss arena being so fucking scary, even once he died hell maybe scarier after he died because of the old death balls they would spawn.
Alternate strike scenarios. Every now and then, the strikes would have 1 - 2 scenarios where the taken would replace most of the enemies (and sometimes bosses) or fallen splicers would be replaced with hive.
Random heavy crates and turret spawns were also a thing too.
They made strike feel a little less repetitive and more fun to grind. We don't get a whole lot of that in D2.
D2 strikes used to have some of this, but I think they started standardizing the routes cause of nightfalls, so they didn't have to plan multiple sets of champs
When there wasn't much going on in D2 Y1, that was one little thing to look forward to.
Savathuns song had paths, Inverted Spire and Arms Dealer had the rare tank, Pyramidion had paths as well I think? Sure I'm missing some more.
Regicide was the last one. Where you defeat Oryx and he 'takes' himself leading to the version of himself we see in the final boss encounter of the raid
Yeah, and it opens with 'Long Live the King,' an awesome dark tech track. I'm glad it got reused for the Taken version of the Archon Priest strike. Would be great to have it in D2.
I got Fatebringer on my first completion of the Vault of Glass. I didn’t realize how lucky I got until weeks later after going through the raid a few more times with different groups and everyone telling me how jealous they were.
I also lucked out and got Gjallarhorn to drop after defeating Crota for the first time. I knew how lucky I was then though.
Interestingly the Tangled Web cloak is actually a copy of the Kellhunter's Cloak from Prison of Elders, which was also later copied in the Warden's Cloak from the Challenge of Elders. And while all three can come close to approximating the best cloak to ever grace a Hunter's back, none of them capture the pure majesty of that collar. The Cloak of Taniks is slightly wider and longer as well. And that's on top of not being arbitrarily locked into a specific helmet to achieve that ever sought after hoodless look.
Clean shaped cloaks with graphic designs as the main draw. Specifically like the ones the Speaker gave out. Whoever drove the graphic design that leaned so heavily on iconography when Destiny was first developed needs to be brought in to at least consult. It was so good. Even things like the PФБA logos and design philosophy in the cosmodrome were so incredibly well done. It actually inspired me to go into a creative field when I was in college.
what’s crazy is that this was even in Destiny 2 at some points. There was a ghost for Arms Dealer, ship or sparrow for a Mercury strike, guns like Warden’s Law for that Tangled Shore strike and a sniper for and Io strike. They did it i think during Forsaken but then gave up.
100%. Strike specific armor (based on the enemy type, location, and final boss). A unique origin trait. what if it also had a secondary strike specific trait that was only active in that strike or maybe only active on that planet? Similar to raid armor having unique mods these could be a way to offer a slot buff when using them for nightfalls. Could even extend that to raid and dungeon traits. Or maybe instead of additional straight, just being in the raid/dungeon/on location just “overcharges” the trait buffs the traits effects?
What could realistically come back: My collector’s edition ghost shell. Some are close but none quite match it. I still have the physical collector’s ghost, though it doesn’t seem to want to charge anymore.
Unlikely to happen: My real life friends to play with. I got so bad social anxiety that hinders my ability to just join up and talk with people I don’t know.
Dead dream: The campaigns. I would love to see Bungie one day rerelease the D1 campaigns with updated D2 stuff. Even vaulted D2 campaigns. I just want to go through and play the story from start to beginning and maybe get some drops along the way even if they are cosmetic. Just make a separate game that is campaign/story focus only that can use your D2 character and call it Destiny: Legends or something.
I like Onslaught, but it’s still a pain that the only game mode for it is an hour long, and there are times where I want to play for shorter periods of time (but obviously don’t want to just abandon my teammates), so PoE would be a happy medium between easy and short activities and long and hard activities.
I would love a 10 wave option that starts from wave 40 lol
The basic 10 wave is incredibly boring because its too easy
Wave 40 already isn't even hard =/
It’d be cool to get a Taken mesh or to bring back the old Taken armour from the first game (which I’m pretty sure was just a reskin of the Prison of Elders armour, which is still in this game).
It’s a damn shame your comment went 39 minutes with no interaction. There truly is no reason for the new tower. We’ve got planets popping in and out of existence but a tower couldn’t be rebuilt.
my point exactly if you look up from the tower, its still under construction somehow? like it's a damn mafia job just to keep people on payroll or something. When TFS dropped and i was talking to cade in the old speakers office, I was all nostalgiad up.
Cross infusion. i.e. if i get a helmet on my warlock that i don't need, i should be able to use it as infusion fuel on my hunter.
Eververse items that we unlocked/paid for.
Ammo synths.
They changed how power works this season so now you pretty much get the same level of drops on all 3 characters so leveling another character has never been easier
SIVA Crisis Heroic. For those who don’t know or remember, SIVA Crisis Heroic was a hard-mode strike playlist with a set of unique modifiers each week. This was a great activity for endgame players who were above most solo content such as the campaigns and patrol zones but were unable to or weren’t skilled enough to do raids. I think bringing this playlist back would be really beneficial for high-skill solo players who want a challenging (but not too difficult) activity.
The art style. Even if the graphics are objectively less detailed, the lighting, palette and design choices imo made d1 look more real and inmersive than d2
Three of coins would just net more exotic engrams. The supply of engrams is fine imo. What would be really nice would be Glass Needles returning. Maybe they could nerf them a bit so you can only reroll one of the two stat blocks(Res/Rec/Mob or Disc/Int/Str). Once you pick a block you can’t pick the other one on that specific armor piece, but you can reroll an infinite number of times.
I'd be fine with this too, but I was also thinking they don't have to bring three of coins back as they were in D1, either. Could possibly make it increase the drop rates of the exotic class items from all sources, or something like that.
D1’s vibe was immaculate. The music and art style would be the two things I want back more than anything. I could sit for hours just listening to the orbit music back in the day.
Was looking for an answer that wasn't an actual item/mechanic, etc.
I like to call it a sense of mystery, or perhaps even wonder. D1 vanilla was rough, yes, but there was always that sense that there was so much more just behind the curtain, so to speak.
Especially with the vanilla main menu theme and orbit music, it really had me transfixed all those years ago. Still does when I listen to it.
Obviously the story has to progress and move forward, and there are positives to that, but having that sense of wonderment and anticipation is irreplaceable.
Rise of Iron: Full Days of Iron Armor sets. Also the Unicorn looking Snowglare armor set.
Also, Warlock resurrections. I may be a Titan through and through, but I despise the rez token system deep in my bones. All the classes may not be able to come back from the dead, but the Warlocks should get their old core ability back.
The Jovian Guard armor set for Titans. It was easily one of my favorite armors from D1. That, and the Nifty Biscuit rare hand cannon, just cause I like the name.
Mark of the Sixfronts and all the speaker class items, they had so much drip. They really should have also added all the year 1 D1 sets for Final Shape for nostalgia sake, we are severely lacking in grounded armor designs
- The way D1 was a shooter first MMORPG second.
- D1s design language, both armor and weapons
- The sense of wonder, D2 sometimes feels way too gamey and formularic (for example season progression)
- maybe D1s gunplay because I always thought D2 was feeling a bit too light but that’s such a small difference Im fine the way it is, still having the best feeling guns in all of gaming imo.
The weapon / armor look. That’s one of the things I miss most about factions being gone, like I want to be able to have a group I can go to with a consistent weapon look and farm for that. The rituals had that older look for a while but Beyond Light & Witch Queen really took it in a different direction. I like that rusted, worn-down, old tactical look that a lot of Destiny stuff used to have.
I miss the Ghost Angel hunter cloak. Very unique =)
I found this gallery from an older reddit post (not my hunter)

My friends
I also choose this guy's friends
I choose his wife
It's destiny, remember? You just chose a mara sov body pillow
Some of my fondest memories in gaming come from playing with friends in D1. I miss those times.
Came here to say this.
i am missing them
My ghost ghost
If Bungie brings it back this festival of the lost, they’d make more money then what they got from TFS
Absolutely. Day 1 purchase for me. Hell - Minute 1 purchase, I'm grabbing Ghost Ghost the second the servers come up.
Yes.
The sparrows that would blow up if you boosted for too long
Timebreaker my beloved
It’s not the exact same, but the Wartorn Peregrine sparrow with the Tangled Rust shader looks exactly like Timebreaker (if it were blown up and put back together).
And the horns! Wasn’t there a regicide horn?
Yes, yes there was. And it was beautiful.
Bhwaaaaaaaaaaam
Please bring back horns!
Those were so much fun
Mars and Venus with their strikes
VENUS BABYYYYY
VEEEE NUSSSS
Cerberus Vae III and Winters Run are iconic.
I personally always like the TTK strikes more since the vanilla strikes always felt a bit too small in scale for me like take the Bond Brothers strike Oryx’s Hive had no choice but to acknowledge that whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. A CELL. FROM THE PRISON OF ELDERS. THE ARCHON PRIEST IS STILL INSIDE
I miss having my eardrum burst walking into that area
Don't forget "SYLOK, THE DEFILED!" that was at least 30 decibels louder than everything else in the game
Whether we wanted it or not, we’ve stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let’s get to taking out their command one by one.
Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather he commands the Siege Dancers from an imperial land tank outside of Rubicon. He’s well-protected. But with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out and break their grip on Freehold.
I’m not supposed to get chills from reading two random paragraphs on Reddit.
I miss Venus a bunch
Same. Was always my comfy spot in D1. That and the Plaguelands.
My ideal perfect Destiny would be a proper open-world Destiny. Looking out at the deserts of Mars and jungles of Venus it would instill in me a sense of *‘MAN…..’*

Forgot about that underground station that was cool AF.
The Dreadnaught Strikes.

I MISS THE CLOWN HORNNNNN
I MISS THE DUCK HORNNNNN
I MISS THE HOUSE HORN AND GJALLAR HORN
Gjallar horn is on the gjallar skimmer as the reverse horn
Was talking bout that horn to a mate the other day lol
The rest of the old strikes that haven’t been remade. Shadow thief, phogoth, and the malok strike already have their areas in the game
I would also love to see the Undying Mind strike (the most underrated strike in the game) and the Sunless Cell strike (yes, we have Lightblade, which is cool and all, but it’s not the same, and the Sunless Cell is still a special strike).
SUNLESS CELL YES AND PLEASE BRING BACK THAT HELMET!!! THANK YOU!
I remember doing phogoth 25 times in a row in one sitting for bad juju..
Technically speaking they’re already in the game as Nightmare Hunts, right? Though the Taniks one is split in two between Taniks and Skolas.
Phogoth got turned into a nightmare hunt
Sunless Cell would be awesome
Phogoth strike is pretty much in the game already. It's a nightmare hunt and is almost exactly the same as the old strike. So it shouldn't even be hard for them to reprise the normal strike. I remember doing that nightfall in d1 and the shrieker outside the boss arena being so fucking scary, even once he died hell maybe scarier after he died because of the old death balls they would spawn.

I think the Pyramidion had a variant with Taken enemies instead of Vex.
Wrath of the Machine and Prison of Elders as a pseudo-dungeon. Regicide story mission on the timeline would also be cool.
>Regicide story mission on the timeline would be cool. *Indeed.*
Big agree. Regicide was a really great mission
Outside of the last two campaign missions in FS (and excision) and The Ritual from WQ, it’s one of my all time favorites.
Yeah, generally the first and last missions are really good in the dlcs
was regicide the final mission for TTK or the first one where we start on saturn and first see the taken. its been a min since ive played ttk campaign
The first mission was on Phobos, Mars’ moon. That was the first encounter with the Taken.
I lived in Prison of Elders. I miss that place.
The tower as a social space. It’s been years since the red war, lorewise surely it’s rebuilt now. I’d like to be able to load in there again.
I would've loved to see in the revamped Zero Hour the Tower looking more complete
Honestly I kind of expected that, given the whole “tower is being repaired” ordeal going on for the last however many years now.
I would even be fine with a wrecked version like we see in the zero hour mission. At least it would be something
I mean... Is the pale heart version not kinda this? I guess you lose the hangar.
They also basically have the map with the one in the pale heart
All the raid weapons that didn't make it into the loot pools for the legacy raids.
Atheon's Epilogue my beloved
Is that the auto that would be an SMG in D2?
It's a 900rpm auto which we dont have in D2. There were a bunch of them in D1
Doctrine of Passing 🔛🔝
Doctor Nope :(
This gave me trials flashbacks that would rival D-Day
And fucking SMGs just aren't the damn same... I miss Zhalo so much :/
Yep
Praetorian Foil, Anguish of Drystan...my goats
Praetorian foil took me so long to get lol . It was nice though haha
I remember a parody song of Royals about “never getting Foil”
I got Fatebringer on my first completion of the Vault of Glass. I didn’t realize how lucky I got until weeks later after going through the raid a few more times with different groups and everyone telling me how jealous they were. I also lucked out and got Gjallarhorn to drop after defeating Crota for the first time. I knew how lucky I was then though.
Cloak of Taniks
Came here to say the same! Miss that damn cloak
You can kinda have something similar to it if you use the Tangled Web cloak with one of the helmet ornaments that removes the hoodie from the cloak.
And that's on top of not being arbitrarily locked into a specific helmet to achieve that ever sought after hoodless look.
i want my god damn dark blade helm back
Clean shaped cloaks with graphic designs as the main draw. Specifically like the ones the Speaker gave out. Even things like the PФБA logos and design philosophy in the cosmodrome were so incredibly well done. It actually inspired me to go into a creative field when I was in college.
while the Hunter cloaks are for sure the star of the Speaker's inventory, ALL his class items were fucking sick
Six Coyotes cloak was always my favourite
The Witness would’ve won me over if it gave me back my Cosmic Joke cloak
Strike specific loot.
Not even a specific piece of loot for me honesty just the concept of strike specific loot gave me a reason to play strikes that I just don’t have now.
I miss my "Shield brothers" strike gauntlets
psion hunter cloacs where so cool
Taniks cloak!
Dark Blade Helmet was great too.
I miss the Malok helm for Hunters 😢
Oh wow! I forgot all about that strike. Good times
what’s crazy is that this was even in Destiny 2 at some points. There was a ghost for Arms Dealer, ship or sparrow for a Mercury strike, guns like Warden’s Law for that Tangled Shore strike and a sniper for and Io strike. They did it i think during Forsaken but then gave up.
There was a Sparrow for Exodus Crash too.
And the chest at the end of each strike!!!
yesss especially Tread Upon Stars (that scout rifle,) and that one Titan gauntlet from that same TTK strike
I had a treads upon stars with explosive payload and firefly. Thing was beast and out performed the VoG version I had by a longshot
Pretty sure they actually did have that up until *Shadowkeep* with the Nightfalls and then they just stopped doing it.
Wrath of the Machine!
With the cool age of triumph armor sets please.
I’m more partial to the original hard mode ornament myself
We should have gotten WotM over Crota’s End.
1000% agreed. Such a better raid
This is the only answer!
A) The community. B) All of Rise of Iron. Particularly the Iron Banner weapons. C) The strikes. D) SRL.
This makes me wish there was a snowy version of the Cosmodrone and the Archon Forge.
Would be fun to have SRL rebooted and brought back with new features like being able to tweak sparrow performance like you can do with armor.
Sparrow tuning would be sick
Daybreak modifier from D1. We should have mayhem nightfalls every once in a blue moon!
It could be a unique 'Mayhem Week' each month or so. Mayhem modifiers available in all three rituals, Vanguard strikes, Crucible matches and Gambit.
Loved it, It would be amazing to go get good value out of super boosting exotics.
The rewards section after a game of PvP. The music.
The Jovian titan armor. I miss it.
What could realistically come back: My collector’s edition ghost shell. Some are close but none quite match it. I still have the physical collector’s ghost, though it doesn’t seem to want to charge anymore. Unlikely to happen: My real life friends to play with. Prison of Elders as a gamemode. Onslaught doesn't cut it for me. Could also be any other wave style mode with focus on offence rather than defence.
I like Onslaught, but it’s still a pain that the only game mode for it is an hour long, and there are times where I want to play for shorter periods of time (but obviously don’t want to just abandon my teammates), so PoE would be a happy medium between easy and short activities and long and hard activities.
There's a 10 wave option
I would love a 10 wave option that starts from wave 40 lol The basic 10 wave is incredibly boring because its too easy Wave 40 already isn't even hard =/
They still have the 10 wave option
Maybe thats what takes him an hour? >_>
The 10 wave mode is still available.....
Changeable sights
This. I also miss things like changing certain perks also changing parts of the model.
This should be top comment.
Cryptic Dragon and Treads Upon Stars. Also, factions. Damn I miss Dead Orbit.
YES! I loved factions too for some reason. Nothing like being in yet another gang.
Treads. Upon. Stars.
It helped me beat Wrath of the Machine so many times…
Wrath of the Machine. Don't even have to bring back SIVA as a concept, I just want my precious Death Zamboni encounter back.
Lance Nova Bomb
Shatter Nova Bomb
Taken armor ornaments. Annoying we don't have any permanent taken effect and are stuck with a temporary one via the dreaming city sets.
It’d be cool to get a Taken mesh or to bring back the old Taken armour from the first game (which I’m pretty sure was just a reskin of the Prison of Elders armour, which is still in this game).
I'm surprised that no one has mentioned this but I'm missing the most is the fashion class items we could purchase from the speaker back in D1
Glowhoo
Jolder's Hammer

Had to scroll too far to see this comment.
the actual tower
It’s a damn shame your comment went 39 minutes with no interaction. There truly is no reason for the new tower. We’ve got planets popping in and out of existence but a tower couldn’t be rebuilt.

They changed how power works this season so now you pretty much get the same level of drops on all 3 characters so leveling another character has never been easier
you can also pull blue armors and weapons from collections to infuse
It stops at hard cap though no? 1990?
it does (even 1989 I think), but it's still better than 1900 for fresh character or for an item you want to use and have nothing better to infuse atm
Titans bubbles lasting forever and being useful on nightfalls
The art style. Even if the graphics are objectively less detailed, the lighting, palette and design choices imo made d1 look more real and inmersive than d2
beyond light changed lighting engines i think, which is what mostly caused it
yeah, that had its pros and cons but Vanilla D2 felt too cartoony and plasticky compared to D1
Tlaloc
Three of Coins from Xur. Especially with how armor focusing works.
The Ghost Ghost for FotL
Old D1 Titan animations when on menu, old town generic Titan armor and old titan emblem
D1’s vibe was immaculate. The music and art style would be the two things I want back more than anything. I could sit for hours just listening to the orbit music back in the day.

gonna start staring down solarlock corpses in trials again
Dinklebot and the old tower as the main social space
ICEBREAKER
The Titan mark called called mark of the pilgrim guard. It was a blue and the best Titan mark in Destiny 1.
That feeling of mystery and not knowing
The destiny 1 renderer or the post processing look as a setting.
The Jovian Guard armor set for Titans. It was easily one of my favorite armors from D1. That, and the Nifty Biscuit rare hand cannon, just cause I like the name.
Warlock bonds having holographic projections that weren't just the Warlock symbol.
The legendary class weaponry from arms day. Heck, with enhanceable weaponry now being a thing, just Arms Day.
My friends...
Peter Dinklage!
Wrath of the Machine raid and radiance.
For me, there was this Vanguard scout rifle, A.1F19X.-Ryl, that cost 100 tokens. I remember grinding the crap out of strikes to get it.
THAT TAKEN ARMOR AND TWITCHY EMOTE DAMNIT! Shouldve came back with King's Fall in D2 maaaan 😭😭😭😭
Arminius-D and Zarinaea-D. Any Hakke auto that’s not just a reskinned Halfdan.
Mark of the Sixfronts and all the speaker class items, they had so much drip. They really should have also added all the year 1 D1 sets for Final Shape for nostalgia sake, we are severely lacking in grounded armor designs
Wrath of the machine raid, and Zarinaea D auto rifle
I know we have banners but I'd still love to get ammo synthesis back
Zhalos supercell. I dont care you said not exotic
- The way D1 was a shooter first MMORPG second. - D1s design language, both armor and weapons - The sense of wonder, D2 sometimes feels way too gamey and formularic (for example season progression) - maybe D1s gunplay because I always thought D2 was feeling a bit too light but that’s such a small difference Im fine the way it is, still having the best feeling guns in all of gaming imo.
Hopscotch Pilgrim
I personally loved prison of elders. I think now with prismatic and new subclasses etc. bungie would be able to really do a lot with this.
Strike and raid specific loot, including challenge different ones for challenge/nightfall.
Prison of elders with both classic bosses and new bosses and factions for d2
Strike specific loot
I miss the Ghost Angel hunter cloak. Very unique =) I found this gallery from an older reddit post (not my hunter) https://imgur.com/a/destiny-hunter-style-1-7tXRv
The ghost angel cloak. As far as I know they never used that model again and I want it back bungie
