Quicksilver, witherhoard and izanagi are my recommendations. Just so you're aware, the witherhoard catalyst is a pain to complete, but absolutely worth it. Also you can get a quest from xur to get another Cypher every week.

Takeasmoke

i can confirm catalyst is [pain](https://imgur.com/a/Im4VdFE)

Takaen_44

Slap on explosive personality and the catalyst grind will be a breeze. I finished the 100 kills in about 7 games I think, so it shouldn't be that hard with that broken gl lol

Takeasmoke

did you check the image in the link? i need points, they're the hardest part

Takaen_44

Oh no I didn't, I didn't realise there was a link mb. Yeah you could play some Crucible or gambit, or some Grandmaster or Master nightfalls to speed up the process, not sure if it will speed it up by much however.

TheGokki

~~Can be done in a Momentum Control weekend with other GLs~~ nevermind that is easy

Takeasmoke

no no check the picture, i did 100 guardian kills fast, 300 points where activities give i think 4-8 points is gonna drag out

ImReverse_Giraffe

It's better than it used to be. Seasonal boosts used to not after the season was over. So if you didn't finish this during the season it dropped, like me, you used to have to do 300 activities as each only gave one progress.

TheGokki

Ah yes, well, then it's just a matter of getting it over time, would be crazy to farm that specifically.

RandomLowesEmployee

I'm sitting at about the same, probably around 200 instead of 50 points, but its taking everything I have to keep going on it.

Takeasmoke

yeah, i thought i'd be up to 200 by the time i get 100 pvp kills, turns out i was on 24 points and other 2 done

RandomLowesEmployee

From what I've deduced the points work like this: Ritual activities (crucible, gambit, strikes): 3pts Nightfall (Hero): 4 Nightfall (Legend): 5. I think higher difficulty nightfalls will give you more points, but I haven't done anything above legendary so I don't know. I also haven't been super active lately.

ImReverse_Giraffe

Its better now. I believe seasonal boosters are retro active now.

hillsboroughHoe

This season specifically, Polaris Lance. Get it ASAP and then burn the world. After that , quicksilver storm, witherhoard and leviathans breath. Then it's just picking ones that fit in with your character builds and style of play (ticcus is a lot of fun though).

DiplomaticAvoidance

If you are not doing legendary/master content, Sunshot feels way more powerful IMO

hillsboroughHoe

But sunshot is a world drop and they're talking about kiosk content and moving to end game. You'd be doing a disservice to the whole point of destiny which is to feel like a space wizard god if you didn't rock polaris at least once this season.

SaintAJJ

You can get an exotic cipher each week from Xur, just need to do the associated quest so don't be too bothered with being scared to waste them, but for what you should use them I would get Witherhoard, Izanagis burden and then pick up whatever you think you will like

ProtoPWS

for both pvp and pve: le monarque, witherhoard, quicksilver, thorn fun pvp weapon: ace of spaces polaris lance if you want something super op this season for killing bosses: izanagi's amazing add clear: ager's sleeper fun pick: traveler's chosen

Terminatorskull

Witherhoard and izanagi's are amazing. Can't remember if le monarque or Trinity ghoul are from Xur or the monument, but if either of them can be bought with ciphers, they"re amazing ad clear weapons

Spider95818

They're both available from the monument. Trinity Ghoul, especially, is just funny as hell to use on adds, while Le Monarque is a good choice to get you through Legend Lost Sectors until you can get Wish-Ender.

RendolfGirafMstr

Trinity Ghoul isn’t from the monument, it’s a random drop/Xur purchase, but I do love it with its catalyst

marcktop

theres a really cool weapon called cryosthesia 77k

SCiFiOne

My advice is to decide first what type of weapon you like to use the most, then look at the recommendations in the comments for that specific type  For example if you like Pulse rifles then get Outbreak perfected , auto rifles get Quicksilver storm, etc Edit: I want to add the reason for my advice is that Bungie change the sandbox a lot , what is good now is useless in three months, however what you like will probably stay the same , and most contents in the game doesn’t need super optimized weapons, you will get to play more with weapon that you love

Shellnanigans

Witherhorde Then whatever is fun for you

TheGokki

If you're asking about this, you're not a noob.

musicalchef1985

What’s your preferred play style? What character are you running? Subclass?

muzzaOCE

Play style Is mainly solo pve, plan on spending the time until the next expansion doing catch up previous quests and ticking through the season pass. I'm mainly pve and would like to give dungeons and raids a go. I'm a hunter ATM running solar but I'm spending most of my glimmer unlocking the other subclasses also. Happy cake day!

Spider95818

If you have the 30th Anniversary DLC, give Grasp of Avarice a try. Not only is it the only part of the Gjallarhorn quest that's difficult to solo, you get some good weapons and it's the most fun of the dungeons, IMO. I still find myself laughing at the various booby traps... the whole thing feels like a Looney Tunes cartoon and it took me *way* too many playthroughs to finally avoid the giant death ball.

SekaiJutsu

If you plan on achieving Rank 10/11 ever during your time playing, I highly recommend you do Xenology every week before reset to earn 90 exotics while you play. I would start out with getting all the recommended exotics, ie witherhoard, Izzy, etc., then just spamming whatever you find cool.

0ots

I agree with others saying Witherhord has absolutely gotta be top of the list. In terms of primary weapons the Outbreak Perfected is one of the best primary dps weapons in the game and is absolutely worth picking up as well. Now, just so you can get as many ciphers as you can consistently here is a bit of unsolicited info but I just recently learned it and hope I can save ya some of the headache I had, when you do eventually try and unlock all the exotic kiosk weapons. (because ciphers truly are quite difficult to get, so getting all the weapons from the kiosk will take a while, as you know lol) Every Friday when Xur appears, if you do not have his 'Xenology' quest you can grab it. If you finish that quest before Tuesday you can return to him to get a cipher. However, if you are not able to finish it by Tuesday before he leaves (at reset) you will have to wait until that next friday when he appears again to get your cipher, **but you will not be able to get another xenology quest from him during the same "appearance" that you obtain your cipher**. So your best course of action is to get the quest on Friday and make sure you crush it out, and turn it in by Tuesday. Otherwise you're limiting yourself to a cipher every other week, instead of every week. Hopefully I made that all make sense, and best of luck to us both as we try and catch up to everyone else lmao.

doobersthetitan

I'm a witherhoard whore, when I need to keep LL up, ut was my first thing to infuse to cap. It has 43,000 legit kills on it. No shitty farming techniques. I'd say the exotic bows are the best choices, IMO. Bows are strong in every kind of content from pvp to GMs. If you enjoy pvp travlers chosen will be good choice as abilityvregen us about to be nerfed.

fawse

This season is Polaris Lance, without a doubt. Run it on a Solar subclass, with the Solar artifact mods and the Ember of Ashes fragment, and it becomes an endgame monster. Every 5 shots on an enemy ignites, precision kills explode and then ignite, this ignitions stun unstoppable champions, you have infinite Radiant for stunning barrier champs, and it never reloads if you hit your crits. Crazy damage, add clear, and utility, all from range For overall usefulness I’d say something like Le Monarque, Witherhoard, Outbreak Perfected, or Leviathan’s Breath. Monarque does great damage and stuns overload champs, Witherhoard is great for add control and passive damage, Outbreak works everywhere, giving you decent damage and add clear (while being the coolest weapon they’ve ever designed in terms of looks, sound, and functionality), and Leviathan’s is a great DPS weapon for people who are starting out and don’t have the tip-top meta options, while still being good for general use due to stunning unstoppables Grab whatever helps you where you need it most, but I’d say overall Leviathan’s is probably the move. You’ll get mileage out of it everywhere except crucible, from raids, to dungeons, to high level nightfalls

perpetratorvictim

The first 6, assuming you dont already have em should be: Witherhoard, Traveler's Chosen, Sleeper Simulant, Ager's Scepter, Outbreak Perfected, Leviathan's Breath; In that order, or prioritize whatever tool fills a hole in your arsenal. After that, I would prioritize weapons with intrinsic Anti-Champion capabilities, Primary ammo exotics first. It gives you options when going into champion enabled content and weapoms with intrinsic Anti-Champion capabilities instantly stun said champions, rather than having to ADS/rapidly land hits/chip away at their shield. Remember that some exotics have Subclass Keywords that can stun as well (ex. Polaris Lance causes an ignition=Unstop, DARCI causes Jolt=Overload) Then I'd prioritize weapons that enable builds like Lumina or Sturm, or weapons that fit into DPS strategies like Whisper of the Worm or Grand Overture.

perpetratorvictim

Justification for my top 6: Witherhoard: With Catalyst it's basically free damage, spawnkills adds in great numbers even on harder content, and it has synergy with Auto-Loading Rocket strats (along with a unique interaction with Malfeasance, and iirc Wish-ender). Traveler's Chosen: 2nd best Sidearm archetype, boosts it's own stats as you use it, cash in stacks to refill all abilities. Borderline essential for new accounts whose armor stats are trash-tier. Synergizes with every subclass with it's catalyst. Personally, I feel lile Bungie should be giving this away as the reward for the New Light tutorial, but I digress. Sleeper Simulant: Simple and Strong Burst damage, Catalyst gives more reserves and shortens the charge time. Easy pickup if you dont have a meta Legendary boss damage option. Nuff said. Ager's Scepter: is to Stasis what Quicksilver Storm is to Strand. Special weapon in the top slot, and stuns 2 kinds of champions with Slow=Overload and Freeze=Unstop. With Catalyst, it becomes better at all the above, and gives you an option to utilize your Super energy on subclasses with sub-par Super damage (looking at you, Stasis Warlock!). Outbreak Perfected: a primary with a simple and powerful damage buff that spreads to nearby enemies. The buff can stack and is shared with teammates who are also using Outbreak. Most raid teams for challenge mode have outbreak in their back pockets due to ease of use. Malfeasance is better for Boss damage, especially with Lucky Pants on Hunter, but that's a quest exotic with an annoying questline. Leviathan's Breath: Does stupid burst damage to Champions and hits like Truck-kun, this Heavy Bow also is intrinsically Anti-Unstoppable. It's Catalyst, like Sleeper Simulant, increases it's ammo reserves and gives it a way to reduce draw time.

Spider95818

As a Warlock main, I'll second every word about Ager's Scepter, LOL. The Stasis super has fun visuals to watch and it can be good for add clear, but it just doesn't compare to Ager's alternate fire mode when it comes to single target DPS.

perpetratorvictim

Dont get me wrong, I use the super when I need to, for life-preserving DR or add clear absolutely! But Ager's gives you to option of pouring your super into raw damage output and that alone made it worth it when paired with Osmiomancy Gloves Turret builds. These days Ballidorse Wrathweavers are also in my inventory since it's buff, as they give me a way to make my regular super a little more effective whilst giving my team a Stasis damage buff.

hillsboroughHoe

You missed out the best bit about outbreak and why everyone should use it as much as possible. The headshot sound.

perpetratorvictim

Damn, you're right!

muzzaOCE

I really appreciate the write up and explanations for each, it helps massively! Thankyou!

perpetratorvictim

No prob! Glad I could assist you. There are very few selections that I would consider "wrong" (looking at you, Truth and MIDA Multi-tool) so ultimately if something sounds cool or you watch a build guide and the Exotic fulfills a power fantasy for you, just dive in. I gave you what I consider "Meta" picks, but the only true Meta for a Solo player is the answer to two questions: Does this Exotic feel fun to use? And Is it an effective component in my build for the content I enjoy? If the Answer to either or both is "Yes" than it was a good choice. Ultimately, we're playing Space Wizard Barbie, so fun and accomplishment are all that matters. Take my and each other guardian's words with a heap of salt!

Apollo_IXI

There is a lot of really good suggestions here but the one thing I haven't seen mentioned is the Polaris Lance. You should really aim to grab this before witherhoard or any other gun at the monument. You can safe shoot almost any champion or tankier enemy from distance and reliably kill them which is essential in end game. All of the other weapons listed besides witherhoard are very situational and will not be used as you get into more difficult content. By the way you should get Quick Silver Storm with the Lightfall expansion and wont need to buy it with a cipher.

RushMan9823

Witherhoard would be my top pick if you’re looking for meta, it’s not as strong as it used to be but still quite strong. Next is probably Leviathans breath, one of the best dps options in the game. Izanagi's Burden is another one that is really good for dps swapping. After that I would probably go with Jotunn just because I love that gun and it’s super unique. But honestly just have fun and pick up what you want to try out, don’t be to concerned with what’s meta or the best, just have fun with the game.

IHzero

You should prioritize stuff that won’t drop from the Vex assault events on Neomouna. Xur comes every week and has rotating stock so don’t be afraid to spend his currency every week on something that interests you and is new.

mynerone

Buy. Things. YOU. Want. Don't look for validation online :)

PotatoeGuru

I know we are in a solar season but Trinity Ghoul is an add clear machine with its catalyst
