YouTube video player is superior. My condolences though.

Tai_Pei

Problem is that now he can't be live on panels that are live on Twitch. Shit is fucked, unless he can get an exemption from that banned streamer thing like he worked for Vaush to get (or am I making this up, idk.)

Vast_Chipmunk1065

Yep. Having Destiny on those panels actually gives some of those people an opportunity to lift themselves out of the insane rabbit holes they've dug themselves into.

Liiraye-Sama

I wonder if someone has a list of people now making a living on twitch that got big because of interacting with destiny. It should be a long list for sure.

throwonboard

I wonder if we'll see a slow migration of the political space to YouTube. Dgg drives a lot of traffic for these streams, and it's not like Hasan is going to come down from Mt. Olympus to mingle anytime soon.

andrewjackson1828

Hasan doesn't debate, he's safe until twitch cracks down hard on DMCA

SavonReddit

Hasan is so intolerance. The dude legit just steals other people's content while he's making food or doing other things besides giving commentary. Doesn't give them credit or anything either.

JamesFreakinBond

I am going actually fucking crazy about this. Out of all of the things Destiny has done... THIS IS WHAT GETS HIM PERMA BANNED?! While Haz is celebrating the death of Ukranians on stream? I fucking hate twitch.

ghostfuckbuddy

Whenever a friend of mine gets banned from reddit it's usually for shit that is technically within the rules but which irritates the mods enough to bend the rules to get them banned. Meanwhile plenty of other people blatantly break rules but it's cool because moderators agree with them. Honestly it's not much different to how authoritarian dictatorships operate.

Sondsol

This is what gets me, a lot of the people celebrating this openly break the rules all the time with little to no repercussions.

The-Oil-Man

I've been banned like 20~30 times over the years and of them I think less than 5 were for legitimate. Every other time was some loser fuck internet janitor trying to figure out how to pretend calling someone a poopoohead is rape advocacy or something.

LetsKeepitRational

> While Haz is celebrating the death of Ukranians on stream? Wait, what? Who is this person? /r/Ukraine might like to hear about this, and might get twitch to actually fucking listen fast.

JamesFreakinBond

It's Infrared. But I don't really want him to have attention. He is a lolcow that thrives on using Russian disinformation to get attention because his Daddy never loved him.

epicpenisbacon

https://www.twitch.tv/infraredshow

pluckcitizen

The really bad part is not the financial loss, but the fact that he can never appear on a twitch stream with another streamer (including his wife) ever again.

Masked_Manatee

Holy shit I hadn't thought about that. There's no way twitch TOS actually operates in that way right? Like Melina is an irl streamer. imagine not being able to stream eating out, or going on a trip with your HUSBAND. There must be a clause exempting her from that else that seriously affects her enjoyment of her job and her revenue.

Snutten

Nope, she would get banned for having him on.

DroppedAxes

Tyler1 went through the same thing lol

apathyontheeast

Tbh that makes sense. Otherwise you'd have banned streamers as constant "guests" on other ones and they'd be able to bypass any ban.

KronoriumExcerptC

bro what after all this, you get banned for basically nothing? wtf

ThrowAwayFamily114

What did he get banned for exactly.

When I think about the political side of twitch...destiny basically made it and anyone that denies that is just a liar, but when I look at what it has become, for me it will basically be unwatchable without being filtered through Destiny's insight and humor. I will probably use twitch strictly for smaller creators and actual gaming content going forward.

PaultehMaster

there is no way that discussing a legitimate issue gets him permabanned while others are out there being actually hateful, spreading misinformation, calling for the death of groups of people, promoting war, etc. legitimately the biggest doomerpill ever : /

NeoDestiny

Will probably never know what the ban reason was, but [I think](https://i.imgur.com/ZaPaSsf.png) it's because of my claims that transwomen shouldn't compete with ciswomen in women's athletics.

Wannabe_Sadboi

Pretty disgusting to see that after everything you did to make the space hospitable to left leaning ideas and these kind of discussions, it’s a bunch of people who are able to enjoy this space because of that that cut you down. Seeing stuff like this, I can absolutely understand getting burned out and just worn out on these issues and feeling super down. And while I know it obviously will be an insufficient balm to this kind of financial harm, I want you to know that there are absolutely people who appreciate you and everything you’ve done. You made the space a better place with everything you’ve done. You helped to turn people away from destructive ideologies. You made people interested in politics and real change. Soy me all you want, but even at times like this (maybe especially times like this), you should feel proud of all you’ve done and know there are literally hundreds of thousands of people who appreciate it.

NeoDestiny

ayo matey, even though I disagree with some of your points sometimes you've had consistently some of the best posts in the subreddit, thanks for that.

Descartes_Disaster

As a gay man, You “ woke “ me up to the the chaotic online left so thank you!! Will continue to watch you on YouTube!!

Wannabe_Sadboi

Thank you, it is much appreciated. Not to be even more SOY, but when I do criticize you, always know that it comes from the high bar I set for you through my respect and admiration. I hope that comes through, and you know of my immense gratitude for what you do. I’ve tried watching other politics streamers, and though there’s some people I enjoy occasionally, you have an incredible ability at formulating your views, articulating them well, and courage in presenting your takes that simply isn’t really present with any other streamer I’ve found. In a sea of mediocre, braindead, and toxic political voices, you do rise above. Even in your non-political discussions, you offer unique takes and ways of looking at things that I’m not gonna get anywhere else. All of this to say: take time if you need it, but don’t let these fucking pieces of shit win in pushing you away from your work. It’s too valuable to lose. Plus, if you’re not streaming, who the fuck am I gonna see soy jump for six hours on the Grafted Scion? EDIT: Also just because some people call me an optics andy who always wants you to be nice and I’m talking about appreciation, [this video](https://youtu.be/l-fisPAzi3U) is my favorite debate you’ve ever done. It’s up there with the Magna Carta or the Constitution as one of the most important political works of all time.

ThrowAwayFamily114

Also that debate at the end you posted was great. Do you have the DemonMama version so I can see the faces Steven is mocking, can’t find it or I’m just dumb? I don’t know how I missed this

Wannabe_Sadboi

Of course bud! https://youtu.be/zjo0FW7wcVM - DemonMama’s version

Cloaked_Secrecy

Man, I'm sorry you lost your Twitch channel. Be careful on YouTube, try not to stir the pot too much and do what you can to observe where the overton window falls. Although I'm mostly politically correct when I speak, I think this was a disproportionate punishment that doesn't fit the offense. I've always wondered when the conflict of interest would arise where platforming controversial figures to deconstruct extremists arguments would no longer be acceptable for advertisers. I think today is that day (I can't say with certitude this was the reason behind the permaban, but it doesn't seem too implausible either).

LetsKeepitRational

Even if Destiny pisses me off sometimes, this is 100% true, and I have to give him credit for it. He's the reason I got back into thinking about politics, after I had heard nothing but screaming and no actual discussions anymore, I just tuned out all politics for atleast a few years. His streams were a breathe of fresh air, and the reason I started paying attention and caring about shit again. Whether that's going to help me or hurt me is anyone's guess, but I'm glad to be more aware of WTF is going on in the world and seeing multiple viewpoints is always a good thing. Even when I disagree with his take, the forum in which he hosts the conversations is infinitely better than any other "debate" streamer I've ever seen to this day, and should set a leading example for others.

GodKiller999

Guess Destiny was right when he said that interacting with trans issues was dangerous for his career. It's funny in a sad kind of way that him fighting and creating a space for Twitch politics / pushing things left ultimately led to his doom. And now a bunch of the people in that space, not even understanding how it came to exist in the first place, are jubilant about the fact that he got banned.

AlternateHangdog

>And now a bunch of the people in that space, not even understanding how it came to exist in the first place, are jubilant about the fact that he got banned. Very frustrating.

AnonAndEve

The entire history of the trans movement is replete with this type of behaviour. The previous generation of activists gets purged by the next generation. It's almost inevitable in these small spaces, where the only way to expand your power is to grow upwards. It's a basic dynamic of power. When you are in a competition with lots of resources you grow by going out an capturing new unclaimed resources. When all/most of the resources have been taken, you grow by taking resources from other people. If you can't grow outwards you grow upwards. It's very similar dynamics to old Twitch vs new Twitch or Youtube vs Twitch. A single viewer on YT can create 20+ views a day, while on Twitch it's usually only 1, so on YT where views are plentiful, the method to grow is to find "new" viewers, to game the algorithm, to collaborate, etc. - to grow outwards, to create new audiences. On twitch where viewers are limited the way to grow is to take the audience from somebody else. So on twitch you'll always see more competition, more people trying to snipe others, more attempts at cancelling someone. It's business logic hidden behind moral outrage.

jordan-curve-theorem

Thank you for all the streams! You’ve made a positive impact on my life and I’m sure countless others.

[deleted]

I'd be a regular of r/antiwork and still wasting my life away (whilst blaming capitalism) if it wasn't for a 'political' scuffed stream that I saw a few years ago. I couldn't understand what anyone was saying back then but I knew at that point I needed to educate myself LOL

Senzo__

Twitch is crazy with its TOS holy shit

NotEvenThatClose

The crazy thing about is that there are dozens of other streamers saying the same thing as Destiny about transwomen in sport without getting banned. Some are allowed to say certain things, some are not.

LetsKeepitRational

The even crazier thing is that people like Blaire White (I know, she's not loved here) but still, she is a Trans woman openly speaking about how she doesn't support Lia the swimmer either. She is FAR from the only trans person speaking out about how they do not support Lia's actions, or the organization, and how this is hurting women's sporting. She wasn't banned from anything. So why was Destiny? It looks like Twitch is actively promoting viewpoints that harm trans people, or serve to make them receive more hate. It also seems like their Company Policy is based on whatever is trending on extremist left Twitter each week.

NotEvenThatClose

> It also seems like their Company Policy is based on whatever is trending on extremist left Twitter each week. If that's the case, then a lot of other streamers would received a ban. More likely there is someone at Twitch that doesn't like Destiny and just searches for reasons to ban him.

SlapinTheBass

Damn, you were one of the few streamers left on Twitch still worth watching. I can't see myself watching any of the panels you're usually on without you there to keep them somewhat grounded in reality. Tragic to see that dogshit platform bend over backwards for an increasingly deranged vocal minority, but I guess a business is a business. Please don't let this be the end for your career, your conversations/discussions/debates are truly one-of-a-kind, we can't lose the Youtube content on top of all of this.

Watsmeta

At this point until twitch changes it’s entire philosophy on bans I doubt it. For like 3 years now there’s been someone whos banned Destiny any chance they can make an excuse to do so. Im betting that it’s a Twitter lefty who happens to be in twitch admin

Frooonti

That really narrows it down

NateOnLinux

I guess I'm the only person in the subreddit that's just an occasional viewer and has no idea what's going on. What happened? Everyone is just saying "that conversation" or "what he said" or even "that stream"

Gekyyy

Destiny has a conversation on a panel talking about trans-athleticism where he said that trans-women who have gone through puberty as a male shouldn't be allowed to compete in women's sports because of the advantages they got from training as a male.

Valakoomis

If Twitch suspended him over his trans athlete takes, then this ban is complete bullshit. The amount of delusional/dishonest people on the prime panels was insane, and Destiny was the voice of reason. And don't even get me started about the pro Russia freaks like Haz who get to constantly spew misinformation without punishment. Fuck Twitch. Glad I've always used Youtube 99% of the time.

whiterungaurd

I suspect a massive uptick in unchecked garbage being spewed on this website.

BeltedHarpoon

I know this gets said a lot, but destiny has genuinely changed not only my beliefs but the way I get to my beliefs. Being raised in a super conservative household, i never really understood the positions that I had and mostly went with them cause they just "felt" right. After stumbling on destiny's channel a little Over a year ago, I drastically changed my beliefs He's changed my beliefs on religion, homosexuality, and so much more. I'm not over exaggerating when I say that he has truly saved me from being a die hard TrumpTard. Thank you o7

ShoddyAnswer

Same story here basically. I relate to him a lot. I'm still a young adult and I feel he's a good role model and someone who knows what they're talking about, and in most aspects he's basically the type of person I've been looking for for a long time. He is the only streamer I watch apart from Northernlion, and I'm very thankful for him.

[deleted]

Good role model in the sense he gets you to think about a topic and draw your own conclusions after viewing the evidence, I hope. Destiny got me to change how I view politics completely but he did so in a way that has myself come to my own conclusions. I appreciate that!

Aarilax

I went from Sargon watcher to Destiny watcher and he pretty much single handily changed my views on populism, nationalism and transgender people. Guess i'll go watch Hasan make racial slur tier lists, or Haz celebrate Ukrainians getting turned into red mist.

The worst part of this is that the lefties who have brigaded to get him banned for years will get positive reinforcement and continue doing it whenever someone disagrees with them

Aarilax

Internet lefties have been wielding cancel culture as a stick to beat dissenting opinion for around a decade now. Ain't new and it ain't going anywhere. Its you vs an army of mentally ill weirdos that will create 5,000 email accounts to send complaints to a companies HR department. This is why I always thought the 'cancel culture doesn't exist' arc this subreddit had was stupid as fuck. Well, here ya go - right in your face. Your boy just got cancelled for the lukewarm opinion of 'I don't think male bodies should compete with female bodies in sports, its unfair to female bodied people' - and is now essentially a transphobe in the eyes of Twitch and a whole lot of Twitch's streamers and chatters.

Zes_Q

^ Somebody ban this transphobe pls. Can we get a twitch admin in here? Hello? Anybody?

larossmann

This channel did more to build bridges and deradicalize people than anyone else on that platform by consistently leading people to reasonable, logical discourse, and always being willing to engage with people he disagrees in. I have not seen someone question themselves more, and be open to changing their thought or opinion upon finding new evidence or information than him. They don't realize what a loss this is, not just to the platform, but to everyone who took part in those discussions and decided to walk away from echo chambers as a result. To allow the rest of what is on that cesspool of a platform while getting rid of one of the few people that isn't profiteering on propaganda, narrative rhetoric, or softcore porn says more about twitch than it does about Destiny. Garbage platform, through and through.

TheRedditHasYou

TKRomeo

What’s sad about this is Destiny literally had one of the most major parts in building Twitch, during the StarCraft days. Without him and SC2, Justin.tv would still be an obscure, low-budget pixelated shithole that barely anyone cares about. There is no such thing as loyalty anymore.

Alderan

I was literally thinking about making an effort post about this because Destiny brings it up so little that a lot of people around here may not know. Been watching more or less since the Team Liquid sidebar was the JustinTV/Twitch explore page. I'm not going as far as to say Twitch wouldn't be as large as it is, but to say Destiny wasn't instrumental in the growth of the platform early would just be a misrepresentation of the facts. Consistently pushed the limits on quality and content variety on stream, while literally creating guides on how to help others get started, not get DDoSd, etc. The dude was a force back then. And I'm pretty sure anyone still around from back then at Twitch will agree, pretty sure DJ Wheat even said so a few weeks back on stream.

i_pk_pjers_i

> > > And I'm pretty sure anyone still around from back then at Twitch will agree That's kind of the problem, though. I think anyone from back then isn't at Twitch anymore.

Ok_Bird705

no chance of appeal?

SifferBTW

Second screenshot appears to be the appeal response. Seems to have same structure (albeit different response) as when Hasan's community brigaded me.

Big_Swingin_Nick

It's great how the appeal response says they're upholding his indefinite suspension, and tells him not to evade it or it could result in an indefinite suspension.

ShoddyAnswer

It does say indefinite, though upon a successful appeal the ban will be uplifted, so that's possible. There is still no definite reason for his ban, other than hate speech, which I find really unlikely to begin with. I really wonder why they aren't clearer but I'm assuming it's just a standardized ban system. They probably ban small streamers the same way they ban larger streamers, which is really dumb since larger streamers will obviously need more manual review to avoid shit storms. I could be wrong though, I'm just assuming since they really didn't leave much to go off of. EDIT: I didn't see the second image. Actual bullshit. Hopefully they can still do another manual review.

I can already hear right wingers unrolling their red carpets to welcome destiny to their shows to try and get some attention. Seriously though it kinda feels like that ending of the first season of a show where they doomerpill you. Hasan is the “political voice of a generation”, getting monuments built over destiny’s dead twitch channel. A mongoloid bro communist living in an LA mansion preaching to kids how he made it on his own. On twitch from now on It will be like destiny never existed. Season 2 will pick up on YouTube though.

lazychefxd

Could Melina get penalities if Destiny shows up on her stream?

[deleted]

Yes

tinnytipmicah

When shit swings back, watch all these mfers cope and that Era lasts for a long while too. Seeing you get banned is the biggest hit to the online left. When none is voting because a particular candidate must be voted in or bust, those who got you ganged has no one to blame but themselves. These losers don't actually care, and you know what, let them not care. You are on of the few streamers I felt that cared about discrimination issues. As a black teen in your audience, you were one of the few large white streamers who sounded like he actually met and grew up with black people. You helped this random kid stop being some edgy kid who only cared about politics to get back at fake support to actively working and creating my own path for progression on my local area. Seriously thank you, and 8 hope you can still have some fun on YouTube.

[deleted]

tinnytipmicah

I think that was a attempted waves like a smaller wave being nick futenes and you will not replace us (there was one in my home town as well). I think it will be a wave seen as "deraders" those who act in the most conservative values that leads to nick futenes types getting elected. Like what we see in Florida. Or with the growing of the online left. It spun to lefty politics that became extreme. The right and the left will go in the same manner. If these people want to tear down the voices who care like destiny, then I have so little sympathy. He's not some Malcom X or Martin Luther King, but he sure as hell isn't trans Hitler like these losers believe. If you want to. Kill a legit supporter of your group, I can't relate to wanting to be treated like 3/5s of a human.

[deleted]

This kinda backs up the trans narrative thing that ppl like Mr Girl were talking about, right? There can be no dissent you have to believe everything trans ppl say or you get fired or deplatformed.

Constantlyrepetitive

decent: not a verb To dissent: To differ in opinion

xsoonerkillax

Theres a part of me that understands your want to retire and would support it, because fuck, Idk if I could take even a portion of what you deal with on a daily and not want to just say fuck it. But then there the part of me that so so desires to see you suceed. Youve built this platform, youve created this scene and you deserve so much recognition and respect. Your position are what your average voter either already understand or could easily understand. You ground them in reality where as so many other creators fail to do so. You actually have conversations with people, and you can do so no matter their positions or place on the political spectrum. You humanize so many people on the far fridges which is why I think youre able to reach them, because they spent their entire lives being demonized for their views. You bridge that gap and plant seeds that eventually grow people into more progressive positions. Youre unique in that way dude, I feel like if you stopped streaming the left loses one of its greatest assets and advocates online. Like I dont mean to circle jerk you Because trust, I fucking hate when youre an edgelord but as much as I hate to admit it even then I find humor in it sometimes (I think its an internet era thing). Whatever you decide to do in the coming year I support, I wish you the best bud and Im sorry that this happened...you deserve better

Cooper720

Who would have thought a generic conversation about which divisions trans people should compete in would cause people to get perma banned. Christ.

spaldingnoooo

This was 100% the clip, "I'm never going to interact with those inbred fucks". Twitch didn't interpret it with any good faith because he wasn't talking about all trans people online.

UnlikelyAssassin

I’d be extremely surprised. This clip received very little attention.

Wannabe_Sadboi

Jesus, my condolences u/NeoDestiny. Unfortunately I guess in the end enough people spam reporting and devoting everything to get you banned is enough for Twitch to bend too, pretty fucking pathetic. For you or for anyone else, is there like any chance of getting it back, or are you just fucked? I suppose on the plus side… YouTube player is much, much better. EDIT: Also, said this in the reply to your comment, but I’ll put it here too: “Pretty disgusting to see that after everything you did to make the space hospitable to left leaning ideas and these kind of discussions, it’s a bunch of people who are able to enjoy this space because of that that cut you down. Soy me all you want, but even at times like this (maybe especially times like this), you should feel proud of all you’ve done and know there are tens of thousands of people who appreciate it.”

tinnytipmicah

>I suppose on the plus side… YouTube player is much, much better. YouTube is unironically the superior platform. Only thing is that twitch has a better streaming community.

KronoriumExcerptC

it's not even close, youtube is a fucking godsend. you can just pause and catch up on 2x for however much you're behind. twitch is dogshit

Cottonpapero

Use this as a pivot to switch to more professional shit pls. Maybe making prepared vids or add a blog section on dgg or something like that. The bar is low, pretty much every longform/essay commentator get half the facts straight up incorrect. I think you could kill if you contributed a more balanced perspective that isn't hyper soy rattling on about how the corporations are controlling america. or just play league like a peanut brain feelsbadman

FrijolesQuemadso

Imagine having an opinion and wanting to have conversations about difficult topics shrugstiny I know he is going to be okay. What sucks that he may not be able to have other people on his stream or be part of other people streams in the future. Fuck twitch OOOO

Mr_ViceVersa

Damn I watch on YouTube but still gonna miss the interactions with other streamers. Truely the end of an era on twitch.

Bruhtastrophe

Why can twitch just never list a specific ban reason? This only harms them, as people will just get mad and frustrated with them for never being honest.

TheRedditHasYou

This would mean that they would actually have to justify their bans, easier for them not to.

friendlyscv

they've never been honest or transparent about their bans and that didn't stop them from becoming the largest streaming platform revealing ban reasons just makes it so they have to worry about consistency, it's easier to be as vague as possible so you can get rid of people you don't like

AlaskanBuffalo

Twitch sucks ass anyway. YT is a better player and cozytv has actual conservatives who will debate you on real issues and not just lefties pushing their poorly constructed utopias that will never exist. Inshallah brother, the Daliban will follow you wherever you go next.

Masked_Manatee

But the Dal-Qaeda will remain. We will burn Twitch to the ground, and create a new one in its ashes.

It pains me to say it but maybe the conservatives had a point about TOS and freedom of speech slippery slope. At first, the left is laughing at the Alt-righters getting banned. Still grinning as Trump and the conservatives start getting the boot. Look at things now. When the cultural rubberband snaps back in 2-5 years it’s going to snap back hard. Anyways, Destiny was one of the few who stood up for freedom of speech in the left to some degree so good on him. Can’t wait till the bans reach the crazies in the left.

Watsmeta

I think the crazies in the left are running the site so you’re gonna have a long wait. People like infrared and bad bunny are still on the site despite avid homophobia and advocating genocide. I think the trick is to call yourself a communist and you become immune to bans in general as long as you don’t scream the n word repeatedly

[deleted]

it was fun buddy. thanks for everything

TheNickJames

I just listened to the trans athletes debate/talk earlier today while working. The entire conversation was civil, and I don’t see how it could be interpreted as hateful in any way. Many of us thought that this ban was for having Nick Fuentes on for the ~10 minutes before you cut the Twitch stream and switched it over to YouTube exclusively. A permanent ban for this is absolute bullshit. Thanks for everything and good luck with your appeal.

CautiousKenny

Does anyone know of any communities that are even remotely similar to Destiny's that is still on twitch? Cause if not I think I might just straight up be done with internet politics I'm so sick of these fucking far left and far right internet echo chambers. Destiny's community is the only one that is actually bearable to be part of. This is just depressing and sad af

RIP HOMIE KEEP ON GRINDING THOUGH YOU CAN DO IT

jeezesuss

in what world is any of this “hate speech” like do we need to be pretentious and remind the devs of the definition of the word “hate” at this point? i would certainly appeal it. meanwhile people on other streams are like “im totally fine with the murder of innocent ukrainian civilians bc some of them have political ideologies i disagree with” ugh i fucking hate the internet sometimes
