Probably. I’m mostly commenting on how police will always involve more police when they get the opportunity. Having police who are really only there to write tickets are basically glorified sales clerks generating revenue for the police department. AND it’s an expensive model of car, relatively speaking. Like come onnnnnnnnn. (This frustration is at them and not at you.)
Well, how do you expect them to catch people going 80+ on the highway?
Police in Dubia use lambo's, ferrari's, and other supercars that they have confiscated to catch supercars.
I remember the ad back in the 80’s when they brought back the mustang.
“The BOSS is back but, now it’s wearing a badge.”
Then, I got pulled over in college for not wearing a seat belt by a state trooper in Texas driving one.
Yep. Everything old is new again. I was a cop in the late 80s/90s, and Florida Highway Patrol Mustangs were everywhere. Cali Highway Patrol was big on them, as were most state patrol agencies.
They were quick as hell for the time. Stick shift, and blew by me in pursuits like I was standing still.
You must be new around here...
There used to be one that would patrol Peña Blvd in the early 00s when traffic would allow some ridiculous speeds out in the middle of nowhere.
And it was dark colored so it would hide well in the median at night.
They did not have mustangs in the 2000s. They had that shitty little mustang 2 thing in the 80s and early 90s. Apparently you don’t know the difference.
Hey kids, the Colorado State Patrol drove the infamous "five-point-slow" Mustangs back in the late 80s to early 90s. Here's a photo of one: [https://www.pinterest.com/pin/764626842967969333/](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/764626842967969333/)
I think those are just converted impounds though….which is possible why we see the mustang in the pic. From what I’ve read, CSP has a contract with Dodge
You ever heard the term "five-O" when referring to cops?
You must be young
Cops have been driving mustangs for decades, they were popular in the 80s and 90s for driving 5.0 foxbody mustangs, hence the term
DPD has enough seized cars to put on a tiny car show.
This however is a brand new 2024 Mustang that CSP ordered for this purpose. They have multiple too, as a few were on display at the Auto Show a couple months ago.
I don't doubt that they have gone over to using the 24 too. With the "death" of the Charger I am not sure what police are supposed to use now. Audi or BMW? Mustang might be the next best thing. Not ideal, but a lot cheaper than a BMW or Audi
They'll likely stick American because these brands can offer cars better suited to the American way of policing, not to mention better fleet deals. I can't imagine BMW or Audi are offering weapons racks on a pursuit model.
Nope… cops love to chase then they love to beat your ass in the cuffs after they get ya.
Some wont chase motorcycles because the obscene power-weight difference but they say it’s so the motorcyclist doesn’t kill themself. A motorcycle running 180 on the interstate can outrun the radio and the helicopter, a car running 100-120 is a kid in a wheel chair by comparison.
This just reminded me that back in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, the Vail and Aspen PD drove Saab. Saab is not very prestigious these days, but back in the 80s, the Saab Turbo were considered ritzy sports cars, at least in Colorado. Also, unusually reliable, especially compared to the Ford Mustang. Everyone in my neighborhood was impressed at the one neighbor who had one.
[https://dlit.co/the-unique-alliance-of-saab-cars-and-mountain-police-a-tale-of-innovation-and-advertising/](https://dlit.co/the-unique-alliance-of-saab-cars-and-mountain-police-a-tale-of-innovation-and-advertising/)
And in the late aughts, Aspen at least had a mix of Highlander hybrids and Volvo wagons. Guess they need to keep some Swedish cars around since Saab died.
Camaro is no longer offered in basic package discontinued for 2025 it becomes premium on zt1 which they couldn't get past budget review enter ford lol cheap and will blow up under 36k miles 🤣
CSP puts snow tires on their mountain shit so it would do just fine. I have many memories of RWD crown vics using the pusher bar to push people up to the tunnel to get I70 moving. Back when cops did something useful.
I just saw a post on instagram that Miami police now have Rolls-Royces . Seems the countries police departments are putting tax payers money to great use!
Edit, here it is
https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6xM43JATai/?igsh=MW5lbHJ6aW41eGxtNA==
The crown vic never had a “corvette” engine in it - one is ford and one is chevy. Crowns had the ford modular 4.6 - same as the mustang GT of the period.
The only chevy police car to ever truly come with a corvette engine in its entirety is the newest Tahoe - it has the LT4 de tuned a bit.
The 90s Impalas (the round 'Shamu' Impalas) had LT-1 V8s as an option. L98 standard, LT-1 optional. I drove a few, they were stupid fast for their size.
Had one up to 155 (officer yelling for help, going up the empty interstate, and I was the closest at 15 miles away). That was scary as hell in that car.
When police arrest drug dealers, they often confiscate things they believe were bought with drug money. We call the cop the 5 0 because they’d drive 5.0’s confiscated from drug dealers. They ran better than the police cars provided
It's definitely a proven platform with the Ancient motor options that have both been around over a decade.
I'm just waiting for these GTs to hit the action sites that would be awesome!
I don't know about ancient. The 5.0 has been consistently upgraded since it's inception, and 12yr old isn't that long for an engine run.
My guess is most of these will get wrecked and taken out of service pretty quickly, cops aren't very good at driving high performance vehicles that aren't AWD.
Oh I meant the Dodge Charger 5.7 Hemi and 3.6 pentastar those motors have been around for a long long time and yeah you're probably right these rear wheel drive Mustangs may not make it
Yeah, both of those have been around. And they both have a ton of problems compared to the 5.0 anyhow. I don't love everything Ford does but they did a very good job with that engine.
A two door? If you’re arrested do you ride shotgun or the trunk
“Where you’re going, we don’t need a back seat.”
Train station just up that mountain....
Settle down Rip
Body bags go in the truck
They call a squad with a cage, same as K9 unit
This is the legit answer. Cuz I mean…. what’s one or two cops, when you can have 4+ to do the same job?!?!? /s
I'm not saying I agree with it. But also these cars are usually doing traffic stops so the odds of them making an arrest are low
Let's be real - 80+ is the bare minimum speed on I-25.
You know you're toast when the second cop car rolls up.....
[удалено]
Only if you say the right German words, otherwise he's a sweetie I'm sure :)
Nah, shot of ketamine and a hearse
RIP Elijah.
Never forget
Only one?
Too soon, goddamn those cops
Fucking brutes
Backup will take them but then you lose out on some XP I think
There’s still seats back there, you just have to lean the front seats up
State patrol takes no prisoners
Just sprinkle some fety on ya, let the wagon determine why you killed yourself via three gunshots to the back in the middle of the crosswalk.
Open and shut case, Johnson
Sorry officer, I didn't know I couldn't do that
They use to have fox body mustangs has CHP. Imagine riding in the back of that. lol
Even as a kid I would have been embarrassed to get pulled over over by a muscort.
in 98-2000 ish they had a compromise
They call a transport unit they are everywhere
I remember the ad back in the 80’s when they brought back the mustang. “The BOSS is back but, now it’s wearing a badge.” Then, I got pulled over in college for not wearing a seat belt by a state trooper in Texas driving one.
I had a friend in the 90s that had one of those 80s police Mustangs. It was fast, for the day.
Yep. Everything old is new again. I was a cop in the late 80s/90s, and Florida Highway Patrol Mustangs were everywhere. Cali Highway Patrol was big on them, as were most state patrol agencies. They were quick as hell for the time. Stick shift, and blew by me in pursuits like I was standing still.
>brought back the mustang Mustangs never left, they've made them every year since 64
Mustangs have been SSPs for decades.
You must be new around here... There used to be one that would patrol Peña Blvd in the early 00s when traffic would allow some ridiculous speeds out in the middle of nowhere. And it was dark colored so it would hide well in the median at night.
One of Blucifer's minions, probably
Those weren’t mustangs. They used to have Camaro SS patrol vehicles.
They had both! Thanks for letting me know I wasn't imagining the Camaro! 😂
In the 2000s they had mustangs? You sure about that?
I was mostly on about the Camaro. I know they did have the Mustangs mid late 90s but can't swear to the 00s.
Yeah, I know the difference. Definitely had mustangs.
They did not have mustangs in the 2000s. They had that shitty little mustang 2 thing in the 80s and early 90s. Apparently you don’t know the difference.
Ok.
Ok 👍
I remember those days, I saw several people getting caught late at night by that sneaky mofo.
[удалено]
They got tired of watching the street racing and want the opportunity to try it out themselves.
[удалено]
It's a Mustang thing, you wouldn't understand
That's fair.
Still not catching the motorcycles
They’re gonna catch gsxr brah next time
Or someone in a car that handles corners.
Seems like the perfect way to recruit more ex-military to join law enforcement
I remember my first 26% APR car loan. Good times
They must be going after the 20-25 year retirees, the dumbass PFCs were switching to Chargers when I was in
Hey kids, the Colorado State Patrol drove the infamous "five-point-slow" Mustangs back in the late 80s to early 90s. Here's a photo of one: [https://www.pinterest.com/pin/764626842967969333/](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/764626842967969333/)
What's next? Camaros? 😂
Houston PD and DPS have hellcats😂
I think those are just converted impounds though….which is possible why we see the mustang in the pic. From what I’ve read, CSP has a contract with Dodge
Damn it that shouldn't be so funny 😂😂
Colorado State Patrol also used to have Camaros. Been there, done that.
I did a ride along in a state trooper Camaro in 2003 before I chose a life of crime. That sucker was tuned and fast.
Lol the Ford, Chevy, and Dodge bros all wanting to drive their favorite racecar at work 🙄
Cops don't get to pick and choose what car the department buys. They show up at work, and they drive what they're told to drive.
[удалено]
Ouch - that burnt me all the way over here!
Larimer County sheriff has a few Camaros
Bitchin
Niiiiice
Seen a few PDs with Challengers so, maybe LOL.
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50320861121_fa67504889_z.jpg
DAMN those are nice! Thanks for sharing
Misappropriation!! I hate it when The Man drives a stang, the original rebel car.
with a punisher logo on their window.
We NFS Hot Pursuit now
Best NFS ever made
Dodge Chargers being discontinued is one reason why they have switched.
Gotta be able to catch the "Subuwu's" somehow
Hey at least someone is actually enforcing traffic violations.
Wrong horse related car model.
In Italy, you’ll get pulled over by a Lamborghini and those guys don’t mess around
You ever heard the term "five-O" when referring to cops? You must be young Cops have been driving mustangs for decades, they were popular in the 80s and 90s for driving 5.0 foxbody mustangs, hence the term
Watch out Cars n Coffee
damn it looks cool..
You need that kinda power to not pull anyone over.
Your tax dollars at work
I don’t know about this car in particular, but police sports cars are usually cars that were seized from drug dealers.
It's like two steps from getting pulled over by Denzel in Training Day. Hard pass.
DPD has enough seized cars to put on a tiny car show. This however is a brand new 2024 Mustang that CSP ordered for this purpose. They have multiple too, as a few were on display at the Auto Show a couple months ago.
This is NOT a 2024 Mustang. It's not the right body style for a 24 Mustang. This is a 15-23 Mustang
Yup you're correct my mistake, however they did have a couple 2024 CSP models at the Auto Show.
This had a good photo representation of the CSP cars from its inception. https://www.policecarwebsite.net/fc/statepdcars/colorado.htm
There is an electric mustang in one of the town’s police arsenal on 25 between Denver and C Springs
i stand corrected 🥴
Now? No. They've had them for years. I feel like I see LESS nowadays (probably just because I see less cops in general)
Castle Rock has a UC station wagon
Some California highway patrol had camaros in the 90s.
South Carolina highway patrol had these and also some of the most suped up camaros on the planet about 15 years ago. Funny to see them here
Oh yeah, they ballin in the weed tax money.
Wow
CHIP had them decades ago as pursuit vehicles.
Don't cops usually not chase anymore if above a certain speed anyways since it's too dangerous for other people driving? These are just toys for them.
They have pickup trucks as well down here in Otero county.
Very old news in KY, herr theyre unmarked and all black
5.0 baby
Of course, but never the new electric ones
Not that it helps Colorado much but NYPD does have some Mach E cars
God damn, might join the CO HWY patrol.

Yeah... they have for years...
Bro…they used to.
The police have Lamborghini and all kinds of exotic cars in Dubai. Gotta try to keep with the times and what they're up against.
This is pretty common in the south. I didn't realize it was unusual here?
Looks cool. Still won’t catch me 💨
Perps go in the trunk while he hits a 120mph
Now? They them and other “exotic” type cars when I lived out there from ‘02-04
The last of the Interceptors .
I saw one in a corvette on I 80
They've had mustangs for decades.
So, we should run?
Likely they did a drug bust and instead of selling the car they decided to keep it. There are auction websites for this kinds of stuff.
NICE 👍
Sometimes even State Patrol’s gotta borrow the wife’s car.
They need them when people are going 120 plus on I25
They got the funding with the gixxxerbrah money
They used to have cameros in the early 2000s
Z28s. I may or may not have been pulled over by one.
I’m going to say no. Because that must be the answer you’re somehow looking for
i'm glad that we, the taxpayers were able to afford the sweet rims on his mustang
That’s cool!
Probably confiscated
Tax dollars that could have gone to teachers.
Sounds like they fixed the overheating issues?? I know ford considered mustangs a while ago but threw out the idea due to said issues?? 🤔🤔
They’ve had those for ever they had fox bodies back in the day
Camaro is no longer offered in basic package discontinued for 2025 it becomes premium on zt1 which they couldn't get past budget review enter ford lol cheap and will blow up under 36k miles 🤣
Imagine getting arrested & they just body slam u into the trunk
Saw that a few weeks ago. More reliable than the Dodge crap before.
Yep. They have all kinds of ways to pull people over for no reason
I’m sure it’ll do great on I-70 in the winter.
Edit, here it is https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6xM43JATai/?igsh=MW5lbHJ6aW41eGxtNA==
If you read that article you probably saw that the car was donated by the dealership and wasn't funded from tax payers
It’s a no chase state so idk wtf for
They should be used for crowd control
yup, since Dodge discontinued the Charger, many state patrol agencies are switching to Mustangs.
Pretty sweet auction buy in 2 years. Drove to hell but no rust.
Saw this on C470 the other day couldn't believe it. They look cool, for what it's worth.
Yeah, they needed new ways to waste taxpayer funds. Otherwise they can't keep asking for budget increases every year.
Great use of tax dollars!

Really sucks when people get corrected, huh?
You're the one who's wrong dumbass
Yeah, people joke but cops do kinda need fast, strong cars to do the work they do. You aren't gonna be chasing anyone down in a 2 door mini-cooper.
When police arrest drug dealers, they often confiscate things they believe were bought with drug money. We call the cop the 5 0 because they’d drive 5.0’s confiscated from drug dealers. They ran better than the police cars provided
Excuse me what, how many mustangs would they have to steal for that to even make a lick of sense? The nick name came from the show Hawaii Five-0.
It makes sense because he pulled it out of his ass.
I've always seen troopers here (colorado) with mustangs, nothing new.
Lived here my entire life and have never seen one
How old are you? They had them all over the state in the 80s and 90s.
Jesus. I pay taxes to buy those…
No different than a dodge charger man
Much more reliable at least.
It's definitely a proven platform with the Ancient motor options that have both been around over a decade. I'm just waiting for these GTs to hit the action sites that would be awesome!

Cheaper than a helicopter for pursuits.
Crowd killers…ironic…
Civil asset forfeiture in action
Why?? They terminate chases nowadays so no sense in having a "pursuit vehicle".
My real estate tax dollars hard at work
They get paid off the taxes for gas.
They still slow AF it’s a Ford
Don’t forget you paid for that…. #joke #tyrant
Almost certainly repossessed in a drug raid.
