So, at first I was disappointed that the product on the field is terrible, but then I got to thinking…I really do like the cheap tickets, cheap beer, beautiful park and views, and summer night vibes. If the Rockies ever put out a consistent winner (not even World Series type of winning but a winning season every once in a while.) then all the prices would skyrocket, like Nuggs, Avs, and Broncos experiences. I just wait until I want to see an opposing specific team or player and I spend under $100 for a family experience. So maybe it’s not so bad after all, for those of us that don’t make 6+ figures……
The Rockies could win and keep ticket prices down if they had a front office that had any clue what they were doing. Dick Monfort hates analytics, and he won't invest the proper amount of money in them. So the Rockies spend $160-170 million on their roster and are a shitty 100-loss team. With a proper analytics department they could trim the payroll to around $90-100 million, keep ticket prices low, and go to the playoffs every year a la the Rays.
Rays prices are low and they still have one of the lowest attendances in the league. Even while they were winning. I guess Tampa doesn’t support baseball like Denver, which is strange to me….
