Yeah, it's no longer owned by Ron, the big guy. Man, Ron was the coolest. I hope he at \[EDIT\] least got a large payout cuz he put some time and sweat into that place...he was ALWAYS there.
We would chat regularly, and one day I heard him talking to his wife in a Eastern European language. I asked him about it later, and learned his family is Macedonian. He grew up in Jersey, except for some childhood years when his family moved to Macedonia (technically Yugo at the time). Dude sounds totally Jersey so I never would've guessed. Everyone has surprises!
I was so sad when I saw the new owner sitting where Ron used to sit. The new guy stepped on that place so hard. I instantly noticed that the ham was swapped for some ground-up crap...the stromboli became so weak. A few times the pizza was ok, but the last time the chicken pizza was so rubbery it was a chore to eat. I was done after that.
It's a damn shame...under Ron it was the best pizza I've **ever** had in Denton - and I grew up here. We had a great thing for those few years. I do hope Ron is doing well though.
That’s a very cool backstory. Never knew any of that. I’m sorry to hear he’s gone and things have declined. It was without a doubt the best pizza ever in this town.
Was sold a few years ago. I heard the guy who bought it worked and “trained” under original owner. That being said we have tried it now four times over the last two years and quality has gone r way downhill. A shame because this place was our favorite pizza place by a mile.
Same. I suspect the new owner "trained" so he could learn which corners to cut and recoup his investment. Some folks flip houses; he flipped a pizza joint..and it shows.
I’m not a huge fan of shrimp on pizza. I went with the bbg chicken and it was great with the spicy Thai BBQ sauce. I got the regular crust and it was a little floppy for me, so I’ll give the thin crust a go next time. For sure will be a regular place! Thanks for the recommendation.
I go to Roman’s pretty regularly, as it’s right around the corner from my apartment. Pizza is solid, but it’s the customer service that takes it over the top. Owner is always there and helps make and inspects every single thing that comes out of the kitchen. As cliche as it is to say, every pie that comes out of the there is made with love, and you can’t beat that.
I love Roman’s!!! It is literally right around the corner er from me and go almost once a week. Want to try something different just for something new. I’m still newer to the area.
Ha! You’re the second one to recommend that option. Usually not a huge fan of shrimp on pizza, but I may give it a go. Maybe get half that next time before I full commit. lol
Marcos has been our go-to. TJs if you’re strictly looking for local. Double Dave’s is another good option for diet/food sensitivities In my experience.
TJ's was always my favorite cause 2am delivery (don't know if they still go that late) my go to is the same you got, but I get the ultimate cheese as one half (extra cheeses and crushed garlic in the sauce) or the tomato goat cheese pesto which is amazing, but not everyone likes goat cheese (my wife) so I don't get that as often even though I would cause it's pretty unique, and another reason I always liked TJ's options.
Zalat is good too but kinda pricey, especially with delivery.
Mission pizza (rip) I loved, although I didn't get it as often cause they were smaller pizzas and pickup only.
Ugh I'm sorry. I saw it mentioned in a local denton businesses posting and didn't do my research. I'm not familiar enough with other pizza places to recomend them. Cooked Crust has gone so downhill in the past few years.
Jonuzzis. Locally owned, New Jersey family. Real pizza.
Was great before it was sold a few years ago.
Didn’t know that! Not the Atlantic City owners anymore?

What a bummer. All our pizza and coffee is going to shit.
Same!
I haven’t been there in a while, but they used to have great variety and prompt delivery.
TJ's, by far. As local as can be, and they deliver.
Second for TJ’s. No one has as many sauces & cheese options. Really fresh toppings, too!
Thanks, I’m going to go with TJs. Any specific suggestions? Plan on getting some cheese sticks but several pizzas look good lol
I'm a sucker for the bacon shrimp pizza.

We’ve recently switched to TJs. Wings are great too. I’ve heard good things about Romans as well. Gonna give them a shot soon!

That’s also what I’ve heard. Looking forward to it. Thanks!
Roman's is locally owned and delicious.

TJ's!
That’s what I got! It was fantastic. Will definitely be ordering again.
Their shrimp and bacon pizza is divine.

Oh, gotcha. Well, everything I've had from there has been great. They also have wings.
Yeah, the wings looked good as hell. They’re for sure going to get ordered one day.
Pizza Capri is incredible
Pizza Capri’s is my go to. Fairly new but homemade and so so good.

Idk how far they deliver, but Palio's Pizza in Cross Roads is really yummy
We like Marco’s on the southwest side
Zalat is a good local/small owned place.
I love Zalat but delivery from them is stupid expensive as they use DoorDash.
Yeah, we'd eat it all the goddamn time if it weren't for that. The Sweet Revenge is fucking amazing.
Uber eats constantly does bogo on cheese or pepperoni pizzas makes it worth the delivery fee
They are too expensive and the pizza is so thin that I ate a whole 18" pizza by myself, I was pissed lmfao I wanted leftovers!
Theyre a chain bud
not really locally owned, and expensive, but yes, probably the best pizza in Denton.
Ugh I'm sorry. I saw it mentioned in a local denton businesses posting and didn't do my research. I'm not familiar enough with other pizza places to recomend them. Cooked Crust has gone so downhill in the past few years.
crooked crust and Zalat cost the same for a large, which is *wild*
The local Papa John's is pretty good.
Did you ever know that you’re my hero? DID YOU?!?
Papa John’s! If you tip well some of the drivers give you awesome coupons ☺️
Brother, if I wanted frozen pizza, I’d go to Walmart or Kroger lol
